I think it's a matter of time. On Dengeki it has been selling 2.5-3k weekly for some time now and without a Definitive Edition on sight and with the future updates/DLC, i think they will.

The price drop is terrible though. They cut more than half price for a new copy there hoping for it to sell. It sure is not selling at full price at all since like the first week of the release.

What a great victory to finally sell for 2.5k yens something you bought for twice the price* and only take 1 entire year to do so

*
I don't really know for how much they bought these copies, but that seems like a fair estimate

Regarding digital it's somewhere around 100k

wasn't there a post about brand new FFXV copies being sold at 800 yen at a local store or something

Geez, what IS it with Japan and crazy clearance deals all the time? I'm so jealous! :p Here in Canada we're lucky to find clearance stuff if any at all. Sometimes, but not nearly as often as it seems in Japan, but why is that?

I mean, fuck we get "clearances" where an $80 game is $70 and is called that, wow, THANKS guys! XD Actually I think Walmart is most guilty of those. They have delivered before (once a couple years back they had lots of stuff for $8, including PS3 and 360 U-Draw bundles).

Once in the US, Best Buy had Pilotwings Resort at $5. I rushed to the store and saw nothing on the shelf, so I asked a Best Buy guy if they had any left, he looked at me like I was naive to ask that question and went, "No. It was $5!"

To this day, I've never played it despite having wanted to play it since launch. Too late now, I'm all in on Switch.

Early 3DS got this a lot in the US, as did Wii U before stuff really started drying up. I don't think I spent more than 15 bucks for a physical copy of any third party Wii U game.

Yeah It happens for everything except evergreens (aka most Nintendo, GTA and Call of Duty games) to varying extents in Australia. Complete price collapses within 3 months, everything just a few bucks after a year. Basically my entire PS3 collection was like $15 or less, and yeah Wii U third party games. Even true of Nintendo games that flop - got Codename Steam for $5.

The saddest thing ever is when you buy a game and then see it half the price in a store before you actually even played it...

What Chinese airline were you with that allowed use of electronics on domestic flights???

You can use electronics on all domestic Chinese flights, just not a mobile phone even in airplane mode. Tablets, laptops, Mp3, Switch, all ok. I fly around China pretty much non stop and I'm always playing my Switch, usually in tabletop mode with the pro controller... Can't listen to music on my phone though... lol.

I go up and down several times a year; I suppose I always took the 'no phone even in flight mode' rule as implying no electronic/communications devices could be used. I'll try whipping out my Switch next time.

There was a change to airline regulation not two days ago in China. The new regulation let airline companies themselves decide if cellphone is permitted or not. Before that it was strictly not allowed, no matter what mode.

Preorders generally have a big weekend bump?

Of course, but first day also is a good barometer of really hyper-core.

(Which is why it was curious to watch the NA response to the pre-order date going up... as in there wasn't one. Only Gamestop's CE did anything, of what we can track. But this was a TGS, so that announcement better not be the "announcement" for the world.)

Is that good news for it? I'm guessing so because of the physical release coming.

It was a mobile game right? I wonder how much mobile/Switch we'll see (and how much Switch/mobile).

It's a 25$ bundle-port of a mobile game. The music is packaged rather than buy to play.

Probably pretty good.

This will be a very slow week (aside Switch hardware), and everything was moving towards pre-ordering new software.

MH World reservations were big, and according stores they were the highest for a PS4 game. On PlayStation side, we have Legend of Heroes with good reservations as well. Draon Quest XI is already having discounts (depending on the store, it goes down 4,500yen) and FFXV is almost down 2,000yen.

On Nintendo side, we have the new colors for New 2DS and Super Famicom Mini. Mario Odyssey and Xenoblade for Switch are the stars.

Well, as a rule of thumb, when publishers share sales data when they are under no obligation to do so (especially digital sales data, that no one but the platform holder and the publisher/developers have access to), it's generally because they're satisfied with them.

In that case, 40 000 is pretty good. Nothing mindblowing (this is clearly no Shovel Knight), but that's enough for them it seems (especially with how expensive the game is, for a DL title that is).

The highest a PS4 game ever had (like more than DQXI) or the highest compared to other games right now?

As always, thanks for the pics.

I think this can't be extrapolated. But, yeah more than DQXI. I think natiowide World shouldn't be very far from DQXI, though.
