Better late than never? Maybe. Anyway, I separated out the big three (Splatoon 2, Zelda, and Mario Kart) so it's a bit easier to see how the lower sales games perform.

ARMS is back in and tracking above 1 2 Switch. MHXXHD is flattening out; let's see where the baseline will end up. FE: Warriors and Fifa had bad weeks; I'm not expecting them to stay long.

Thanks for putting these together. It's always interesting to see.

Minor nitpick: Is it possible to make the colors consistent for a single game across all of your charts? That would make it easier to glance between them for the big picture.

Can do. It'll be in the update tomorrow.

hoping gacha games to decline is the same thing as hoping loot boxes to die. There is a reason that those pachinko machine and casinos are still alive today despite there are lots of people hating them and want them to die

Yup. Gacha if done well is like drugs. The pain when u are not getting SSR or 5 stars is easily eases when u got the thing u had been dreaming for. Well.... just like gambling.

The euphoria is just unmatched lol.

First look at Your Four Knight Princess Training Story

Nippon Ichi Software's new PlayStation 4, Switch, and PS Vita action RPG, in Japan on January 25, 2018.

Why does that date sound like it is close to somethi....

Capcom will release Monster Hunter: World for PlayStation 4 on Jan. 26, 2018

Oh...oh......well at least it might have a chance on Switch and Vita if it is not drowned out by all the marketing pushes that will be going on in January for MH:W.

Japan is getting this too, 50k yen.

Bundle of the first game wasn't released in Japan, this is also the first Pro bundle of note.

Also with this all big PS4 games for the rest of the year are getting bundles.

I don't think Star Wars is big enough in Japan for this to make a difference.

NIS games would have to be appealing to more than 5 people for their products to have any overlap with anything let alone Monster Hunter.

They do have overlap. On people wallet.

An online action game and some random niche jRPG?

Nah, the venn diagram of people who are interested in both is probably two completely separate circles with one circle orders of magnitude larger in area.

The hell is this title lol, are the princesses knights? are there knights protecting the princesses? why is this my story? if they are knights what are they training for?

At least it's clear it's a story.

The title is in Japanese and people are just loosely translating it because we don't know the context.

I hadn't considered many of your questions when I first saw the title attempting to be translated into English last night, however I did spend about a minute considering if they are knight princesses or princess knights when I saw it in English. I feel the Japanese title is easy to understand their nature as princesses who act as knights and do knight like activities such as being trained and scolded. But could not settle on a clear English title.

It is your story because you are their instructor.

Edit I would say 'princess knights' after consideration.

Anihawk says the touhou battle burst game is out selling the ps4 version

I suspect this has a lot to do with the Switch absorbing the western Vita audience fairly quickly, and that audience has been known to be *very* active + the similar/adjacent demographic fans of the 3DS, so a convergence of supportive demographics for a lot of NIS's (and other such developers) games on a single console.

Two converged audiences vs. a console that's not the PS2. Actually, the Switch is probably more of a PS2 now in terms of making a good bed for a lot of these smaller/non-AAA Japanese titles.

Not to mention that Nights of Azure 2 looks to be doing better on Switch than on PS4 according to the Amazon rankings:

Switch = #457
PS4 = #591

The gap was much bigger when I last checked.

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free

These games are also targeted to niche/hardcore audiences who in the past where willing to double dip for console and potential portable versions. So getting 2:1 with Switch releases is something that will appeal to them...so yeah this will only get bigger as Switch moves more hardware units.

I mean, PS4 already has other (better) Touhou games. This is the first one on Switch. I wouldn't use this game to compare anything to be honest.

Same. Might be good to gauge the touhou userbase there, and promising for future fangames, but I doubt there was any expectations in the first place.

Love your graphs, thank you for your work.

I think Mario Odyssey will debut above Mario Kart 8 DX. I feel Odyssey will be somewhat similar to BotW in the sense they will attract players who don't normally enjoy 3D Marios.

Overcooked up to 4th place in the Switch eShop Chart one week after release. That's a very decent performance for a Western Indie without much marketing or prior presence in Japan.
