Sounds about right then, why did a bunch of people assume it was coming out on Monday when the last 2 releases have been on tuesday

They are not just the "last 2" releases that have been on Tuesday. Famitsu posts early reports only on Tuesday last years. If fact they didn't bother to give Vita TV numbers.

If it's something worth brackin about I don't see why Sony wouldn't push it to release on Monday. Also, don't you think Sony already knew the number? Why do they have to wait for Famitsu to release it?

The only number exact number Sony knows is the shipment.

Why do I think we'll start with supposed shortage again like Wii U.

This, they don't have access to every retailer's point of sale info. Also to Sony is more important how many have sold to date rather than the first 24 hours.

People keep acting like consoles being on the shelves is a problem when that was exactly what they expected to happen in the west as well. They though for sure prior to release in the west they were stuffing the channel so much that they could accommodate walk ins through the holidays turns out they underestimated. Now they have units available for walk ins and are getting hammered for it.

Selling out is not a bad problem to have, I am not saying that, but continuous sales after release is also not a bad problem. That said would awesome to see Sony Studio Japan to step it up big this gen, because third party Japanese devs are too fickle to trust.

Because both Vita and U were released in Dec, during the holidays. Maybe that caused the "delay".

Clearly a flawed logic otherwise we'd have PS4 numbers by now. :p

Let's hope Famitsu posts a Tuesday report for PS4, they paid dust to Vita TV and 2000.

There won't be continuous sales with this software.

Again. We just discussed this yesterday. Can we stop with the dual shockers articles?

Err, we didn't discuss anything.

This is relevant is it not. Its a dualshockers article with actual info from the Japanese store blogs about sales. So a bit daft to flat out ignore this information. Surely we take in all snippets of info we can until actually numbers get released.

Yes, that's the most likely explanation. PS3 was similar price or cheaper to JP in HK, but PS4 is 3380HK = ¥44700, so quite a bit more expensive. Add import taxes, shipping, retailer mark up and It would add up. But November was before Asian release and whilst it was sold out in the West, importers could really bump up the price then. I would guess post Asian launch price would be closer to 60k in Japan. Anyway, my point wasn't really about sales (importers are always a tiny minority), I just found it bizarre (as we haven't really seen this situation before where a Japanese console launches last in Japan) that "hardcore" fans would wait out overnight in the cold for something they could have bought in Tokyo months ago. I guess as the Japanese market share continues to decline they'll get more attuned to having to import to be first on the block.
I think Japan getting it last isn't because of its declining market, but rather the software isn't ready, there's no point letting it stagnant as much as the Wii U did, but still this is pretty pointless when after the delayed launch the software schedule isn't as strong as you'd hope.

The software still isn't ready yet.

Another dualshockers article.... ps4 strong sales...weak attach rates.

http://www.dualshockers.com/2014/02/24/ps4-japanese-stores-report-strong-sales-but-weak-attach-rate-for-games/

Makes sense really given the bundled knack, free games, ps3 upgrade and also digital not counted.

That's a very 'coloured' source. I wouldn't categorise a site who holds a reference to a playstation accesory within it's domain as a credibile or neutral outlet.

Besides a single source can't verify that this is currently happening by it self. It's questionable as it is, so we have to wait for at least another article or report to make legitimite, rational comparison and to set expectations.

The numbers cant be good if Sony has kept quiet till now. I'm expecting 100k now.

It just can't be so low. Even the PS3 would probably have had a better launch if it wasn't sold out because of the really small shipment.
But yes, since Sony didn't say anything it's probably pretty bad.

Is this a serious question?, why wouldnt we?
It wasn't a statement with regards to SalesAge. It was a statement towards the notion that poor sales or good sales in Japan spread some sort of sentiment elsewhere. It doesn't.

The 360 being irrelevant there didn't stop it from selling more than 50% more in the US than the PS3. The Vita plodding along in Japan doesn't stop it being dead at US retail.

I didn't realize we were predicting for just a single day.

My 240k was a first week prediction.

For a single day I'm guessing 170k.
