My cousin just let me know that his apartment building is beginning to collapse. He is attempting to save what he can.
The mythical Azteca Stadium :/
Why? Tell him to get out now
Yeah no shit! Many places even had drills today as a reminder of the deadly 1985 earthquake where thousands died.Today is the 32nd anniversary of the 1985 earthquake. Spooky.
Stay safe

It was weird timing. One of our offices in Mexico City was having an earthquake drill today, and literally 10 minutes after, the quake hit.
Luckily, all are accounted for and okay.
A shit ton of flex seal. How the hell do you even fix that?
Most of the city buildings were rebuilt or reinforced after the 1985 earthquake. The problem in this case is the proximityScary. Being an old ass city doesn't help.
Bunch of pictures and gifs. The one of the city shot dousnt look good.
6.8 according to preliminary reports, but I believe it was a LOT more destructive. I can see from my window that some buildings collapsed and some caught fire.
Very sad
Looks like a BLEVE. Happens when a tank of propane or some other type of liquidied gas catches fire. The liquid inside will boil and vent out creating vapor around the tank until the metal gets weak enough from the heat for everything to expand and ignite at once. There were videos of them havening after the Japan earthquake in 2011.
Omg that first gif.
Not good that I work in a building in L.A.
Holy shitThis is probably not safe for weak hearts. Entire building collapsing https://twitter.com/polancoesa/status/910225448575127554
