MIC: Overwatch players turn to Reddit to share their stories of Harrassment

Why are you so inclined to consistently demonstrate an unwillingness to adhere to the behavior that you yourself tout?

Very valid question.

Such shitty jabs are entirely pointless to the discussion and a part of whats wrong with online competitive gaming. It's not about being a bunch of snowflakes. It's about some people not be assholes via the internet. As well as companies like Blizzard, Microsoft, Sony holding people accountable when they do cross the line.

Just wondering what people honestly expect these companies to do? There's mute features and block features.

I've mentioned this, but for companies it is very, very easy to sort this out completely. They are unwilling because they value the racists and misogynists more as customer than women and black people and foreigners.

They should:
- Have voice messages be stored client side. When a victim reports abuse he/she should be able to include the voice message with log of said offense.
- They should have a human check the report, and if it is a serious offense ban the perp permanently from online play.
- Companies should create a system to share these bans among them, so that these people can no longer continue to harass in other games.
- If it is a criminal offense, the company should provide all personal details of the perpetrator to the victim to allow the victim to go to the police and press criminal charges.

This would shifty solve almost all online harassment. And when it is no longer the norm, new players will not copy this behavior either.
