I dont mind the wait i understand glitches happen, but at least tweet out that you will be tweeting out a new time to be ready by shortly. Now i have to sit here and wonder if the link is just going to pop up or they are just going to say wait till tomorrow.

Agree with you...
Can not do anything but refresh

This thread is some amazing drama. I'm not even going and I'm nervous for you guys...The fate of a Xbox fan turning to PlayStation hangs in the balance.

You don't get it. Lee booked a plane already. Requested AND got vacation approved and found a dog sitter. If that's not asking to trade your Xbox One in for $5.00 towards a PS4 I don't know what is.

Its a terrible feeling knowing i wont win, but iam so excited to try and i dont even have info on when i can possibly have the chance to win. I feel like iam trying to get series 2 of smash amiibos all over again

Give it a rest man, and I already have a PS4. Just choose to play on Xbox most of the time. Cancelling the arrangements I've made won't be an issue in the next day or so. I regret making the comment but as a first timer to all this it really sucks. Didn't realize that they have issues with tickets/raffles/overflow every year it seems.

This is a normal occurrence for almost any online first come first serve contest not just Xbox. You made a comment that was unbelievably overreacted to the point where i almost thought (hoped) you said you were joking. You are officially the star of this thread until news pops up so enjoy the ride

I disagree that overbooking and sending confirmation emails to potentially 9x as many people as your cap should have allowed is normal for this sort of thing, especially with all the confidence they seemed to have in the system leading up to today. Also disagree that my comment, "This might be what finally pushes me over the edge to just go PS4 all the way for Destiny 2 and leave the Xbox behind.", was so offensive and overblown to so many people in here.

I'll try to stop engaging and enjoy the ride.

Welp, I wasn't lucky enough to get in on that 6 am drop. Didn't think of hitting the green register button that those who were successful clicked. Was afraid I would lose my place in line.

Just waiting on more info about the cancelled 9 am drop. This is giving me flashbacks to that ridiculous raffle system that went down last year.

The worry now is that people who get in at 6AM may not be valid or are oversold.

Working theory is that clicking the green button engaged some kind of work around that let people go over the 100 ticket limit. Did anyone get a ticket without hitting the green button?

You're not alone.

Well I guess when they said to wait for the drop they meant Drop the ball.

Theyre not just gonna cancel winning tickets. It would be idiotic of them to do that and i would honestly be stunned if they actually did that. Just relax.

I don't even think the site worked. I clicked it the second it was tweeted on my phone then like 45 seconds later on my computer. The site wasn't even fully up. I could see it updating as it was refreshing adding little new things. I also don't think that loading loop led to anything because I had multiple windows open and it never took me anywhere.

I hope you're right. Need to get some work done regardless so I'll check back for updates later.

no one knows, but it's pretty easy to believe they overbooked with the info we have.

Yeah, we don't know if they dropped all 400 (500?) tickets at once, if they dropped 2000 tickets, or what.

Pretty fair to say they did more than 100, but technically that's not confirmed either.

Has anyone said that's what happened? Or are we all assuming it?

As far as I know, the last official information we got was the 9am ticket registration was cancelled and to await further information. That was around 2 hours ago.

The fact that they canceled the 2nd registration combined with the seemingly large number of people who got a ticket confirmation from the first registration leads people to believe they did indeed overbook.

My assumption is that they overbooked and now are working out how they want to handle the situation and carefully deciding on the exact wording they want to use to break the bad news to everyone. How they handle it could mean the difference between some upset fans and something that gets blown way out of proportion.

am i an asshole for hoping the people that got overbooked tickets get cancelled?

If a slot machine breaks claiming you won 10 million you will not be getting that 10 million

Right but the whole site was broken. Did anyone get tickets without clicking the button?

If the slot machine was broken and paid out 1000 people, you don't let the first 100 keep the winnings either.

I really hope they announce that they're going to create a new event at E3 and allow everyone to go. I'm going to E3 and I'd love to go.

Use that big MS pocketbook, hire some event organizers and do something nice for us fans to make up for this.

This isn't a slot machine. This is a system that has check and balancing process. if you provide x amount of items, it counts those down as they are removed. Overselling shouldn't be an option.

And show me a slot machine where you can win a 10 million, yet alone 1 million? Those have checks and balances as well.

Probably actively debating what to do over there right now.

I mean, if they invalidate "X" number of currently registered people, that sucks. It could be 50 people to 2000 people who 'think' they're good to go now, who are told they suddenly can't go. This would either allow you to hand out the rest of the tickets as planned, or just revoke tickets over 500 and hand out no more tickets.

It's not even clear if the website allocated the first 100 (or any) tickets properly, so it may be the most fair to revoke everything and start over on a different day so everyone is on the same playing field.

Allowing EVERYONE who got a confirmation now would be nice, but would still screw over people who were planning/hoping for the 2nd drop (and later).

Basically, someone is getting screwed (lots of someones) with this, which sucks, because it's a damn free event that should be a nice thing.. but gets ruined by someones incompetence.

Or just set something up in another location nearby, even if it's just a small thing and allow anyone who wants to to go. There aren't THAT many people who are or can go to E3. I think this would be the best solution. Nobody gets screwed that way and earns them a lot of goodwill.

Well, what the heck. I've never seen a slot that advertised you could win a million.Maybe it's a good thing I don't gamble, I'd never stop.

I'd love to be in whatever room or conference call they're having right now regarding all this.

I mean i can give a million examples, but seriously have you ever tried to preorder anything in demand online before? People here are legit crazy i get it i want to go just as bad as you do but if you know 100 tickets was the the limit and it says you are 1 of 1100 the writing is on the wall something went wrong. You are entitled to nothing this is a contest, i feel like iam being a huge Xbox homer right now, but seriously take a deep breath and think about what you are trying to say here.

They really should do it with a culmination of the Halo, Gears and Forza Finals at Key Arena or something. Blow out a weekend of their biggest franchises alongside a keynote and demo stations and swag everywhere. Throw in some panels for good measure.

Yeah seriously. If Sony can do one every year, MS can easily do one.

I have and you know what happens? When it's all gone it says, sorry, you're shit outta luck and closes. That's what should have happened here. I'm not talking about being entitled, what I don't agree with is the silence. They should be at the least communicating with us and letting us know what is going on. Sure it might suck, but at least we'll know what's going on.

Folks that aren't otherwise going to E3 but would fly out for the FanFest would be screwed, but there probably aren't as many of us in that boat.

I passed on E3 tickets after missing the discounted ones but jumped on this (or thought I had). Totally worth the flight and hotel to experience the Xbox stuff, to me. If it were to include an E3 pass like in years past, all the better, but even without that I would still go out for this. Thus the premature arrangements I got shit for making already.

Yeah, I think (THINK) they can fit the extra people into the Galen center for the briefing. I've gone the last 3 years and there were always empty seats (not great seats but you know). Fitting an extra 500, 1000, 1500 people? Maybe possible.

For the special Fanfest events.. that could be trickier. They probably already have the swag, or it's in transit for delivery. Adding another 500-1500 units to that order is not going to be cheap. This is assuming they're not giving everyone Scorpios! Microsoft CAN eat this cost as well, but I can't imagine they'd be happy about it. It has to be coming out of the Microsoft marketing budget I'd assume.

The other issue is if the other events have capacity limits, they would need to figure out how to move them to a larger venue at (basically) last minute notice. A ton of LA stuff is booked for E3 already.

This isn't like the PSExperience in that it's all "free", so Microsoft is eating the cost for the whole thing. I have to assume that limits their options somewhat.

Then you get back to the other issue.. say they let everyone who registered already get in (We're assuming they're likely 500-1000 people over booked). Now you have everyone else who DIDN'T get in yet pissed off, how come they can't go too? What do you do? Open it up to EVEN more? That just exacerbates the issues above. You'd definitely be out of space at the Galen center, you could rent a couple theaters, but then that's basically the PS events (which are not the same thing). Then you have the issue of trying to wrangle 1000-3000-5000-10,000 people(!!)! It quickly becomes untenable, so someone is going to be disappointed.

I hate to say but they're going to have a PR disaster either way, it'll either be minor if they're lucky, or it'll be another "f xbox i'm switching to ps4" type of thing. Again, this sucks since it's a free event that no one is entitled to in the first place.. but.. you know how it goes.

Edit: This is also assuming they're not giving E3 passes away, as that would add a whole other hurdle to admitting even more people.

I'd be ok if I couldn't go to the briefing and couldn't get swag. I understand that's it's pretty short notice, but I feel like they should be able to set something up in two months' time. Just a little something for the fans that are feeling raw from this.

I mean if they just set up somewhere for fans to try out the games.. yeah, I could see that, but I imagine the other stuff is a bigger draw for most people (Swag, Briefing, maybe E3 proper access).

They've always done exclusive giveaways/etc for the Fanfest crowd, specifically because it's a small crowd. If you expand that to anyone walking in off the street, I would imagine the costs/etc would skyrocket (Food, security, staff you need to work the event, etc).

I love Xbox, and the Fanfests the past 3 years have all been great (2nd year was the best, open bar!). Each year SOMETHING goes wrong, and the Xbox events staff have worked to make it better each time. As I said before, last year a bunch of people got the shaft due to misinformation/etc, and they worked behind the scenes and everyone got into the briefing and even got E3 passes. I imagine right now they're in equal CYA (cover your ass) mode as well as trying to figure out a way to provide the best experience to the most about of people.

That being said, they need to comment ASAP to let people know they're working on it.
