I can't tell if they're making a new f2p game or if this is for Shadow of Mordor 2.

The plan was for Shadow of Mordor to become a new franchise for WB. Given its success with critics and solid sales I'm pretty certain they are working on a sequel.

Now its entirely possible they are doing some mobile stuff too, but I'd be shocked if Mordor 2 isn't heavy in production as we speak. Something would have had to have gone catastrophically wrong from what WB was expecting

Shot in the dark: It's a shooter. Could be a new IP or new take on an existing WB IP like Mordor was for LOTR. WB's got a presence in action-adventure, platformer, fighting games, and more recently open world thanks to Dying Light and Mad Max, so I could see them doing a new shootbang with a bro to cover all the bases.

Waiting for someone to get mad at this post without knowing Monolith's history.

If its a shooter, i hope its a new fear, and if it is, it better not be some f2p bullshit!

I'm about 99% sure Mordor 2 is coming. The first game was very successful.

So uhh, no real reason to freak out.

Every game has social features nowadays. Arkham Knight has leaderboards, rivals, all of that. Mordor 2 will be no different.

Monolith is comprised of multiple teams in different locations, no? From memory the Mordor team isn't the same one that worked on FEAR, Gotham City Imposters etc, or at least not entirely.

For you.
Orcs in Shadow of Mordor 2 will hold grudges against you and post passive-agressive posts on social media.

Future is here-

Orcs you encounter are actually your friends imported from Facebook. Auto-post to Facebook once you kill them whilst tagging them.

Wikipedia only lists Kirkland Washington, but I'd believe they have multiple teams. Snowblind Studios (also Kirkland) was also folded into Monolith some years back, so that could be the basis for them having multiple teams.

Snowblind, that was what I was thinking of. I didn't know they were in the same city but it makes sense. You don't bring out two games in 2012 then a major AAA title in 2014 without huge throughput. I seem to recall someone saying that Mordor was heavily related to the former Snowblind staff, but this is just my fuzzy recollection so don't take that as gospel.

Gotham City Imposters and Guardians of Middle Earth were Monolith's 2012 output, so there is absolutely a precedent for online / f2pish type games from this company and I would say this is almost entirely unrelated to the Shadow of Mordor franchise.

If they're making another Shadow of Mordor i want it to be a much deeper game and not basically consist 100% of the nemesis system. I want deeper RPG elements, cities or towns with quests to do or something, more story, etc. I want more out of it than just a combat playground.

Honestly they're barely even using the license, its just fighting orcs with minimal middle earth, lore, characters, etc.
