It's not. It wasn't going to happen. The vague family sharing plan was formulated as a response to the initial backlash they were getting to quell the "vocal minority" on the internet. If they were going through with the DRM they would've either found a way to come up with severe restrictions on it, not to mention they had stated that it was entirely up to publishers to allow these features in this case and guess what the publishers would choose to do?
People thinking it was really going to work like that were living in LA LA Land.
Why the fuck these people angry, its not ever confirmed how its worked.
MS site said A, PR dude say B, other PR dude say C. What the fuck you angry for then.
"Similarly, the sharing library [is something] we won't be able to deliver at launch."
What a fucking shame.
i felt like this was perhaps the best feature of the XBOne, pushing gaming forward into the next Gen. it was a feture that no-one else was doing on any system, pc or console. Hopefully MS provide an option to opt into this, but as it stands now the XBOne just lost a defining feature.
I don't get it either. People are taking the Internet rumors as fact and are acting like you got to share everything in an unlimited manner with 10 people.
Was anyone really naive to think that all 10 friends could play at once? That would be hilarious because no publisher was ever going to allow that to happen.
Defend their honour? No. My post was simply an observation of how certain posters, despite the fact they're probably adults and should have some decent level of maturity, still behave like some 13 year old on a forum in the year 2000.
In short, I guess it boils down to a simple question; Why do it? Is it because they "tarnished their image with grandiose levels of hubris and pompousity over the past several months."?
You could be making a decent point, yet as soon as I see that, I stop taking you, and your point, seriously.
Honestly I might be one of the few but I was fine with DRM if I got those game changing features, we had this gen for like 9 years it feels like, I don't understand why people want it to pretty much be the same but with better looking games & better looking games...to me isn't worth the wait. Seriously that being gone killed a lot of my next-gen hype for Xbox One.

This. Seriously it wasn't going to last. ps3 had this at 5 and they were forced to kill it.

This was nothing like the PS3 plan. I swear to God some of you never read past "Share your games with 10 other people..." as if there were zero restrictions on this.

Yes.
Moreover, when a company attempts to destroy our collective hobby while simultaneously infringing on our digital/consumer rights, they deserve the backlash.
Abbreviations =/= immature.
Never forget...
They could have still theoretically implemented this on digital only games. It's a shame they chose to just drop it completely.
Honestly, the family plan wasn't that great. The only people really hyping it up were Major Nelson (lol) and that Xbox fanboy bgamer90 or whatever his name was.
It was good if you and one other friend wanted to play a single player game at the same time. Funny enough, it sucked when it came to actual immediate family because of the XBL gold requirement.

Sharing digital downloads one game at a time was a game changer?

Haha. This was never going to happen. Ever. EVEEEEEEER. Why did people think that this would be the way it would work? Publishers pitched a fit when the PS3 could do this for 4 people, and these dimwits expected 10?
Come on.
No. They could not. Once you install the disk, it becomes digital. I am sure they need more time to rework the system so that the share system can recognize the disk format.
Are we sure it's completely gone? Mark Whitten's words were a little different:
No your whole library to 10 people & yes it does change the way I game with my friends & family. Which is a "game changer" for me maybe you don't see it the benefits like the way I do maybe it's because you don't have any friends or you just don't use Xbox Live or Xbox 360 like I did.
There's a lot of people who loves this feature, so why all the hate on the ones that do, we have a right to complain if we loved it just the way it was. You should have dealt with it not call everyone a shill who defended the Xbox One.
The problem with your logic is they had five LOCAL licenses. This is a far cry from a roaming license. Local licenses give FULL use to infinite amount of users on that console.

And your authority in this matter is...what? Why do you know more than MS did lol?
What XBL Gold requirement?
The fact that you couldn't do multiplayer is why I think everyone would have been okay with it. Just like you said, it was limited, but that was still good.
Why dont you make your voice heard? MS will listen.

Why didnt they keep the family plan for games bought digital?
Two things here:
1) My head hurts when I see people suggesting multiple people would have been able to play the same game from a family share library. Major Nelson made it very clear this was not possible, and frankly common sense told us all that anyway.
2) It's rather hilarious how fast Microsoft dumped this family plan the moment the online demands were dropped. In other words, it's painfully obvious the family sharing thing only got created to try and justify the online requirements. They could easily still do this with people who buy digitally, but no, they're throwing it away for everyone. Basically taking their digital ball and going home with it.

not sure what you mean by the Gold Requirement limiting access to actual family members. Can you elaborate?
