Besides we have rookie melo.

Very true.

I've almost talked myself into accepting a LMA trade, but I'm sure that is off the table at this time. Plus it would almost be impossible to match salaries at this point.... Plus, I want to see what rookie Melo can do against regular NBA talent...

Yes, give him away, no reason not to. You're not going to get a superstar return on him, so stop trying, and start rebuilding the Knicks.

I think part of the problem is that the East is so pathetic, the Knicks probably figure they have a good shot at the playoffs.

Are they trying to get a superstar return? I thought it was them not wanting to take someone's contract back.

Def not getting a superstar, they have to know this. I can only imagine it's crazy fans who think they can get more than that. Trade him for any sort of future assets and keep it moving.

Woah, the Celtics got Gordon Hayward.

They also signed Abdel Nader to a 4 year deal. I guess this means Jackson is gone to make room for Semi.

So how bad is the Celts bench right now?

Rose for vet min?

I don't think it's bad at all? Assuming IT-Hayward-Crowder-Horford-Baynes starting 5, you'd have Jaylen, Tatum, Morris, Zizic, Smart, Rozier off the bench.

They have a couple holes to fill (could use another ball handler and a big obviously) but it's not a weak bench at all.

I've said before that I thought Abdel Nader would find his way in the NBA but I didn't expect it to be with the Cs. Pretty surprised at the 4 year deal.

New:
Tatum
Zizic
Yabu?
Hayward
Baynes
Nader

Returning:
Brown
IT
Horford
Smart
Crowder
Rozier

Out:
Jones
Jerebko
Johnson
Bradley
Young
Olynk
Mickey

Are Zeller and Green out?

I don't think Rose would be bad in limited minutes. He proved he can still score a little when healthy, so why not give him 10 mins a night off the bench to keep him fresh?

Yes, Zeller and Green are out. Is the expectation really that Rose would take a vet minimum contract? He'll get better than that.

I want Semi on the C's bench

There's also Theis who has a guaranteed deal this year. If I understand it correctly, they have 15 slots and then 2 slots for 2-way (D-League/NBA) contracts. I could have that wrong.

I think Jackson is almost certainly gone. Waiting to hear news on Semi and if he'll take a 2-way contract. I expect so, but the Nader deal complicated that a bit.

The Celts are already going to get porked on that Laker's pick. They are too good to go back into the lottery IMO.

If there's a worse defensive lineup in the NBA, I'm not sure who it is. Ball-KCP-Ingram-Randle-BLopez is a defensive abomination. I would be stunned if the Lakers made the playoffs.

Just think how bad it was before KCP was added! Was going to be Lonzo guarding the point of attack, good lord (and maybe Clarkson starting with him!). Lakers aren't sniffing the playoffs. They might be fun and score a lot, but that team is going to give up about 120 a game.

You think the Lakers are making the playoffs? looooooooooooooooool

I would bet anything I could, including my shares of Breadstream, on the Lakers not making the playoffs next year.

Hell no. Those words did not leave my mouth (or get typed)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just think they will be picking around 6-10 range instead of top 5. There is a very small window for that Celts pick.

Lopez, Ball and KCP did make them a slightly better team, IMO.

You said they're too good to be in the lottery, that means they're in the playoffs.
