You know this as fact? Some of their Bluray players already play MKVs.They are not going to support .mkv, none of the consoles probably ever will.

They're talking about a second screen experience, which shouldn't have any need to jump out to the cloud. That's more inefficient and certainly isn't a benefit. There is literally no benefit to PS4 acting as a webserver for the Playstation app.
Or you just misunderstood the use-case. Pro-tip: If you find yourself speaking in absolutes, might be time to rethink what you're saying. The only reason they would make it a PS4 webserver is that they aren't able to scale their own infrastructure up enough before launch.
So an internal PSU, much smaller then the bone and still quiet? Bravo Sony.

People should get over this fact. Use PS3 media server to stream them, otherwise, you're out of luck.
There are many benefits to the PS4 acting as a client to a cloud service that the Playstation app communicates with.

That isn't a permanent problem, and they said it might possibly change in the future.
But it is certainly not a good sign of their cloud infrustructure.
You can. If you open whatever port the PS4 is using on your router.
We do know you can remote purchase on Xbox One.
Xbox One acts as a client to a cloud service, it can open a connection to an external server no problem. Smartglass also act as a client to a cloud service.
PS4 is an intermediate server between PS App and PS servers, you'll have to mess with your routers port security to access it thru an external host or else your router will block your request to the PS4 web server.
Yep. That's it tho.
Smartglass does the same thing but with wifi direct if you're near your Xbone.
I guess I should look on the bright side of life? Idk what that pic means. But either way I give up. I wasn't trying to spread any fear or uncertainty. I thought it was a legitimate question. I am not a tech guy so please forgive me. *leaves*

Wait. Where are you getting this information from? Why would I need to configure my router?
Are you suggesting the PS App won't be talking to the PSN servers but instead directly to the PS4?
Since the Blu-Ray player is 6x instead of 2x in speed (like the one on the PS3 was) the initial spinning noise is actually louder, but that will be countered by using the hard disk drive.
Have you ever used Amazon Cloud? or Steam? You don't need to open ports on your router to use those services, because they are in the cloud and your just a client. Now if you are Hosting the magic, you need a port open, like using Emule or P2P
Bravo? No, apparent bravo. We've been through a console launch (or more) before, don't believe everything you read.
The PS4 has faster / more technology, in a smaller space AND included the transformer inside. I personally suspect this isn't going to be the quietest console out there (do you expect them to say it's a vacuum?)
We'll see, I hope it's true - but seriously, wait for some serious confirmation.
Disclaimer: before you say it, big Sony fan here, not some Microsoft fan, but I understand tech, this is very straightforward stuff.
My PS3 phat (80G) never was loud. I recently discovered the fan test. Now that's pretty noisy. If there ever was a time it was loud, was when I was playing Skyrim. Once in a while it would spin up to the point you'd notice it, but it was never so bad as to interrupt play. Now, if the PS4 is more quiet than that, I'd have to say that's a good thing. You want your console to look good, but you also want it to behave while its doing its work. It appears Sony has checked both boxes this time around.
Everyone up in arms about the drive noise are missing this tidbit:
You mean like the article in the OP which is reporting on a Japanese site who have actually seen and heard it running?
I've pointed it out and several others have too, but for some 'unknown' reason, it's being overlooked.
I'm confused. Why are people talking about configuring routers to work with the PSApp?

You would need a port open to play games online. Any modern has uPnP, the user would most likely need to do nothing if Sony configures this right.
Exactly like that, except more than one article and ideally after the console is released. I've seen this shit before, even from the "trusted magazines" not just the manufacturer themselves. There's going to be a lot of misinformation around and suddenly busting your load over 1 article isn't worth (I know, I used to do it all the fucking time)
Fingers crossed it's true, let's see a few more confirm it.
I'd say with the GPU and CPU on the same silicon, the PS4 will generate less heat than the PS3 and so therefore won't require the fan to work nearly as hard. The real test is when you get it home ,and/or what surface you stand it on (sounds odd, but it does make a slight difference)
Slim or Phat? because the Phat was loud
Do PS3's excessively heat up when playing a blu-ray movie? That is hardly resource intensive lol. I don't think my slim ever does...
The latter question could be asked about any console or electronics device with a fan ever. As long as it very rarely reaches that upper most limit (which step-less fans aid towards), it shouldn't be an issue.
Webserver to me sounds like your hosting the stuff rather then a cloud machine doing the heavy lifting. It also a matter of Push vs Pull, when your the Webserver, your pulling info. as opposed to having it pushed to you by a cloud. It is an interesting choice of words, I guess we can count on host advantage, unlike every game on XBO having dedicated servers.
Currently the PS4's CPU and GPU are both underclocked right, so this should produce less heat.
That's hardly a guarantee with many services. The point in mentioning it is clarifying the extent of the service as it exists now.If they were talking about 'second screen' I don't even think they would mention it, obviously everything behind your firewall is on the local network, so the point would be moot.
Much smaller, a lot more powerful, less noisy.
Where's the catch GAF?
My phats have not been loud. The 360 was loud.Slim or Phat? because the Phat was loud

We won't know which solution will be quieter though so I would wait for comparisons before making comparisons to Xbone. Quieter than the PS3 isn't saying much, I don't even use it as a Blu-ray player anymore because it's too distracting when the fans speed up.
Where have you been?
To me the PS4 still looks like it could potentially switch to full combustion turbine mode at any time. Still hoping for the best though..
That makes no sense.
How can everyone be hosting their own stuff and you accessing your friends list, trophies, and pushing downloads to your PS4 from the app? Why would they change that from the PS3?
So your PS4 acts as a server, which then in turn connects to PSN and uses the bandwidth anyways?
You know this as fact? Some of their Bluray players already play MKVs.
Slim or Phat? because the Phat was loud
Yes. We already know all PS4 games have a mandatory install. The disc is used only for DRM purposes after the initial install.
The noise level of the console during operation is generally much smaller than it was on the PS3.
