That's 65 games, but two are duplicates of sorts (NPC Metroid Prime games versus the Trilogy version). Three aren't out yet, and three more aren't out yet outside of Japan though releases have been promised (two EU only, one US/EU). Three games are JP/EU only releases. One is US/EU only (two, counting the Metroid Prime Trilogy, if you do). One is US only. Seven are JP only, not counting the three with overseas releases promised.

Am I missing anything, as far as regional releases go? I might be, I'm not certain that I caught them all.

But, shouldn't the WiiWare games from Nintendo count some? I think they probably should, really...

Nintendo-published or developed WiiWare games, in no particular order: World of Goo, Lonpos, Line Attack Heroes (JP only), ThruSpace: High Velocity 3D Puzzle, Excitebike World Rally, Fluidity (US/EU only), PictureBook Games: Pop-Up Pursuit, Snowpack Park (JP/US only), Tsushin Taikyoku: Hayazashi Shogi Sandan (JP only), Tsushin Taikyoku: Igo Dojo 2700-mon (JP only), Tsushin Taiyoku: World Chess (JP only on WiiWare, EU only on disc (note: the disc version came first)), My Pokemon Ranch, Pokemon Rumble, Dr. Mario Online Rx, Pokemon Fushigi no Dungeon: Ikuzo! Arashi no Bōkendan (JP only), Pokemon Fushigi no Dungeon: Mezase! Hikari no Bōkendan (JP only), Pokemon Fushigi no Dungeon: Susume! Honō no Bōkendan (JP only), You, Me, and the Cubes, Eco Shooter: Plant 530, WarioWare: D.I.Y. Showcase, Maboshi's Arcade, Magnetica Twist, AquaSpace, Art Style: CUBELLO, Art Style: light trax, Art Style: ORBIENT, Art Style: ROTOHEX, Art Style: ROTOZOA (US/EU only), Yakuman Wii: Ide Yosuke no Kenkou Mahjong (JP only).

Dr. Mario 64 (US only release)
Doubutsu no Mori (JP only release) (Animal Crossing)

Because of differences between release dates in different regions, Mario Party 3 (May '01) was actually the last US first party release. Animal Crossing was the last Japanese release.

Also, all nine 64DD games (plus the Randnet disk) are here because Randnet, Nintendo's partnership company for the 64DD, published all of them.

I count 71 total games, 61 if you remove the 64DD stuff. But, two of those 61 are games from other JP or EU publishers that Nintendo published in Europe only. One is a US publisher's game that Nintendo published in Japan and Europe. Three are Japanese publishers' games that Nintendo published in the US and Europe. And then there are those "Distributed exclusively by Nintendo" titles, some of which I probably missed. Not sure exactly how you should count those.

As for regional exclusives, four games, plus the ten 64DD disks, are Japan-only releases. Four games are US only releases. One was EU only (distributed by Nintendo only). Ten games were US/EU only releases. One was US/JP only. None were JP/EU only.

Overall, I'd say choosing between those two libraries is pretty hard, but 64DD excluded the Wii's library is a little bit larger. As for which one's better, though, that's definitely going to be a matter of opinion. Plus, that Wii list doesn't include Nintendo's WiiWare titles, which should count for something too. But on the other hand, I really love Nintendo's N64 games... so yeah, it is tough.

I gotta say, the fact that someone would have the audacity to argue that NCL, NST and Rare during the N64 days were some sort of amazing trifecta of consistent AAA output mind blowingly rediculous. It's the console that defined the term system drought. For the most part, the N64 era is one of my worst memories as a gamer. The Gamecube had better output but it still lacked the amount of quality content we've gotten with Wii and overall return to form (as one example, the difference of quality, level design and replay value between Mario Sunshine and SMG is stunning). Nintendo's lineup for the Wii has been like therapy for me. So, I thoroughly agree with the other posters who say that first party wise, it's got the best output of quality titles since the SNES.

But the N64, where NCL could barely produce one title a year and leaned on Rare and NST for everything else, is a better lineup than SMG 1,2, a new 2D Mario platformer (as said before hoping to get a 2D Mario game on the N64 or GC was laughable, I remember Matt and other IGN reps asking Miyamoto both in the n64 and Cube days 'When will we get a new 2D Mario' game and it was almost like they might as well have asked "When are we getting an Earthbound sequel?"), two Kirby 2D platformers, a new DKC (heck, the Wii has helped bring BACK 2D platformers!) two Metroid adventures, a Metroid collection, two Zeldas, and many other titles previously listed by other folks? Seriously. Shaking. My. Head.
