Kelly Dwyer obliterates some guy named Dan Shaughnessy.

Because, you pathetic plebeians, Dan gets to go to games for free and you don't. He couldn't tell you the difference between possession rates from 1961 and 2004, but he'll mention San Antonio's rather limited relative population and exposure three times to his one description of Duncan's defense. No matter that any 700-word retelling of Duncan's career should at least be filled with about 400 (literal) words about his defensive aptitude, how he was able to show on screen-and-rolls, how his team was a dominant defensive force for a decade without having to foul a single soul, with Duncan doing most of the heavy lifting.

Never mind that, for this effort, Shaughnessy was paid, given a courtside seat and free parking and access to Gregg Popovich and Tim Duncan following the game.

This is what results. No analysis, no insight, nothing. Just something for you to either get angry over or nod your head to. It certainly shouldn't teach you anything. Nothing you couldn't glean for free with three minutes spent at dougstats.com.

In other news, the East still sucks. Also, it's April, which means it's time for the lifelongs emerge. Welcome back buds! We missed ya.

bish gets all the credit :)
Within the last week the Cavs hit rock bottom from the line, finally moving below the Detroit Pistons into 30th in the league as they've slipped to 72 percent as a team.

god damn. That's with Shaq not even playing too. I sense heartbreak.

The Jazz should have offered to let Don suit up a few fans to round out that bench. That's brutal.

Oh, and Kara, save your Chivas flag, RSL is repeating this year!

The recap itself is utterly delicious:
The Knicks looked like they were surprised there was a game tonight. This contest had all the drama of a no-holds-barred MMA fight between Brock Lesnar and Strawberry Shortcake.
We won't belabor this much further. But games like this do provide perspective on the "troubles" the Blazers have had this season. The injuries have been awful. That's legit and shouldn't be minimized in any way. But when you watched New York tonight you saw a team that was completely disconnected from the game, their coach, and each other. They looked like they knew the story of their season, that it didn't really count, that everybody is depending on cap space rather than current players to save the franchise. Not long ago Portland was in a similar position. It's amazing how quickly and with how few wrinkles the Blazers have grown beyond that. The things we nitpick about now are small potatoes compared to what the Knicks are facing even though a long season and cramped sports quarters in town make them seem huge. I think of the things people have gotten mad about this year. You want mad? Did you watch Tracy McGrady play tonight? Dude's making $22.5 million this year. That's approximately $1.5 million for every play he gave up on tonight. I know he's a cap-cleaner but still, he's taking the floor. Even his escort of an injured Al Harrington to the bench was halfhearted. I've seen bridesmaids clasp groomsmen's arms with more authority and connection. That's the kind of thing to save your anger for. Imagine dealing with that instead of watching a tight playoff seeding race which, while admittedly for a lower seed than expected, still carries legitimacy.

To be fair, the Knicks are more of a collection of expiring contracts than a basketball team(lol @ Denver and Dallas). You all will get yours next year though.

I expect we'll all be collecting our free wins from the knicks for another decade.

When was that pick they gave the rox, 2014? dear god.

For a NBA simulation, how do you allow the Cavs to press all game and there be no fatique penalty. 3 games in a row. 3 fucking NBA 2K games in a row.

I just don't get it.

Shot blocking animations kicking in 3 seconds late. REALLY 2k. C'mon, Rob Jones, you fucking know better than this. Stop allowing this bullshit to be played online.

Its wild because like a million heads have like 10 to 1 win/loss ratios. And Im sure they all cheese with the Cavs.

Yeah, but Durant is getting to the line way too much. It's absolutely unfair how quick they are on the whistle for him. I think I saw on the ticker that he's been the second most since 1986 or something. I don't know how far behind the pace he is for the most. In every game I've watched this season, he gets there 3-4 times a night on really bad calls or just from straight up arm flailing. He gets to the line more per game on arm flails than a lot of players get to the line for legit fouls. Cool, bro.

They wouldn't be happen to be playing the Jazz those times, eh? To be fair, the refs do love to screw over Utah, and those bitter tears are delicious as well.

The vast majority of his foul calls are legit, and when it comes to the "rip move" (when a defender reaches in and KD "rips" through his arms), the refs have no choice but to call it--it's like when players get a defender in the air and jump into them to draw contact. As long as the refs are calling it, I have no problem with KD utilizing that strategy. It's smart basketball, and defenders will have to learn to stop crowding him or pay the price.

Also borderline ridiculous was Sportscenter's back-to-back highlights of Thunder-Celtics and Cavs-Bucks. Hannah Storm droning on and on about the free throw disparity in the OKC-BOS game, then not a single mention that the Cavs shot 45 FTs to the Bucks' 9 in the next game. Real sports journalism, folks.

You can just admit that Durant is a call baiter, every bit as bad as Pierce. It is the truth, after all. He's a little bitch about that stuff, no other way about it.

There are like 3-4 players doing this, and they are justly hated by the fans for it.

Fork 'em, Sparky!
it's April!

(who are you?)

I'm just a guy...

Go Jazz! They have been playing huge having everyone healthy (except AK47) and I suspect they will be able to take out OKC, Portland, or San Antonio. Once we start talking about Denver, Dallas, or LA, I see some problems ahead. I think they could potentially take on any of them, but the Jazz can play pretty terribly on the road against some teams.

11/24 - OKC 104-Utah 94
12/31 - OKC 87-Utah 86
3/14 - OKC 119-Utah 111

KD's "a little bitch"? Really? He rarely whines about calls he doesn't get, and is very businesslike when a foul gets called. It's hard to think of a less conceited, more earnest "superstar" in the entire league.

My diagnosis is that clearly you're suffering from Jazz-Vision. Every player who doesn't fit the Sloan mold is a cheat or "little bitch," the refs are out to get Utah.
Or maybe OKC is just better than Utah this season.

I like Durant, but the foul baiting is childish and stupid.

KingGondo is the new forceatowulf, or however you spell his name.

If refs call the foul, it would be "childish and stupid" not to do things that get him to the line. Not his fault, the refs need to change the way the game is called if they want to eliminate tactics like this.

He's 21 and on the verge of winning 50 games after winning 23 last year, and becoming the youngest player ever to win a scoring title. Whatever he's doing, he's going to keep on doing it because it works.
