Official Japanese Magazine News Thread of Crystal Defending and other new games

The Sega game looks retarded.
It's a side-scrolling action game (platformer?) with oldschool Famicom graphics and the aim is to find hidden parts of jokes. It's a comedy action game, basically.

That other Wii game from Tryfirst looks awesome though - is it a port of a western game?

Oh and Crystal Defenders is coming to XBLA and PSN too. WTF.

I did not realize VC bombed so hard in Japan. From impressions, it seems like it's a much better game than WKC.

SO4 looks fantastic!

Sega's WiiWare game looks alright, for 500 points anyway, donotknowifwant. The Try First game is Evasive Space for Japan, I don't think this was a western game to being with, Yuke's just revealed it in English first.

Valiant 30 looks really nice.

could you describe?
8-bit sprites in a 2D side scroller? Something about 4 game modes? Better wait for someone else to tell you what it is accurately.

If these are the types of numbers Namco's seeing these days for Tales, maybe another 360 title isn't out of the question. Good job on oversaturating the series.

Looks like 4 different kinds of game plays. 1 of them is a 2D sidescroller, but the other 3 aren't. Each has a different character that you play, like the Princess, Demon Lord, etc.
But how does all this work in an RPG???

Taking into account budget, I'm sure it does (or rather, it should)...Not to mention reports of Dawn of the New World outselling Vesperia in the U.S. as well...But yeah, Namco needs to cut back a bit...

Looks like ToV the only 360 game there, Japan is Japan~:lol

ps3 isnt doing that great either, but that is pretty wacked..

Not suprising that Tales sold more than Valkyrie being a mainstream rpg from an established franchise... How did it sell compared to the ps2 games?

pretty much the same pics for FFXIII unsurprisingly, still looks stunning...

Significantly worse, but that's how Tales games sell nowadays it seems.

I don't think the game as a whole is actually a RPG, Famitsu doesn't list it as one and there's a (30sec?) timer in every screen.

Yuusha30 looks kinda retarded too honestly. Pole's Adventure looks bad even for a game that's supposed to 8-bit style, so I guess the joke's on them. Yuusha30 is basically a shitload of mini-RPGish systems put into a game. Each minigame stage gives you a 30 second time limit to clear it, hence the title. There's Hero30 (2D sidescrolling dungeon), Princess30 (Top down shooter defense game, maybe like tower defense), Knight30 (top down slasher, avoid traps), and Archmage30 (summon monsters, RTS-ish). There's some sort of story tying it today, looks really gag-based, and you level up from defeating monsters in each mode. I dunno, seems really.... dumb.

I find it ironic that the half-arsed spin-off sequel beat the mothership title's numbers. I know this has a lot to do with the latter being on a less popular console, but still.

Evens out with 2+ million install base difference

I don't think the installed base really makes any difference at all. A regular new IP or non-major franchise RPG type title on even the PS2 or DS these days do under 200k. On the other hand, even on the DS and Wii, Tales games top out at ~200k these days. So honestly, its a pointless comparison.

lol thread backfire :lol

Could only find a minishot of the logo, were there more pics or full scans? I remember some fake full scans last week for a SRT PSP, but that looked fake at first view.

What's so dumb? It sounds like a Video Game Quiz or Wario Ware-ish type game.

I don't think the installed base really makes any difference at all. A regular new IP or non-major franchise RPG type title on even the PS2 or DS these days do under 200k. On the other hand, even on the DS and Wii, Tales games top out at ~200k these days. So honestly, its a pointless comparison.

I really wonder how Radiant Mythology 2 will sell. Possibly more than the PS2, 360, DS and Wii Tales games of '08??
