That's on them for being shitty people. Shaming straight cis people who like trans porn/futa/etc just alienates people for being attracted to us.
There is a huge difference tho. Of course you shouldn't kinkshame as long as everyone involved is a consenting adult - but there is still a difference between supporting LGBT rights and watching trans or lesbian porn. Watching said porn does not automatically mean that people genuinely support it, and thus it becomes an issue of them seeing it purely as a fetishistic sex thing rather than something that real people do. If trans people or lesbians are viewed as sex objects and nothing more, it can result in unwanted sexual attention or harassment for real people. A good example of this is that misogynists still watch porn.

Again, not saying that post was right or anything, only saying that there is an important distinction between watching trans/lesbian pornography and having good opinions on trans and lesbian people.
The discussion started with a call for public shaming which is a ridiculous overreaction that is now met with the derision it deserves.
Yeah, the discussion got off on a bad foot but there is something worthwhile talking about - somewhere underneath. :p

I can agree with that. Porn isn't support and there are some people who get some warped ideas about minorities from it; I just can't agree with shaming all cis/straight/etc people who enjoy it. That's fucked up.

Well I think it's two different issues. I don't think there's any inherent problem with lesbian porn for straight people, as long as Lesbian porn for lesbians is equally as supported. The issue is the social context that gives preferential treatment to straight male interests, even when they're blatantly hypocritical.

(I say this as a bi male who's into some uh, weird crap)

They're talking about the fetishization of sexualities and the inherent hypocrisy that generally comes with it, e.g. straight dudes who think girl-on-girl is hot and don't mind gay guys existing, but they don't have to be so gay about it, y'know?

I think the point they were trying to make is that you have stuff like the bible belt in America which watches a lot of lesbian porn yet so many people vote against or allow shitty bills against LGBT people to pass. The issue is that sexualising and fetishising someone elses' gender identity or sexuality is not the same as being supportive of their rights, and a lot of people stop at the former.

You can be a cis-male who likes girl on girl (because you like the female form), be dis-interested in guy on guy (not super interested in the naked male form) and support LGBT rights in every permutation. I don't think that's a particularly difficult position to hold. Like I feel a nuke was dropped on a whole swath of people many of whom don't even hold the position they are being criticized for. It comes off as patently absurd (to say nothing of how easy it is to flip around with like Yaoi material for women, etc.)

Corpse Party has a nice little scene going, so does Silent Hill. Heather is popular.

There's a story with a female piramid head that... well, now I realized that I'm writing this in the middle of the birthday party of the daughter of my best friend (the little girl is 4 years old), I feel so dirty for reading this thread.

Yes, I agree that blanket statements don't really help anyone.

Porn can also be an incredibly helpful exploratory tool in terms of finding out what you like. When I was 12 or 13 I thought that I started to feel things about guys and I watched some gay porn and I was like yup, that's happening. :p

Is that how it can happen for some? That's pretty interesting.

Sort of... I could go into it in more depth, but essentially at the time I was feeling very confused about what I was feeling towards my best friend. I started reading some of my sister's young adult novels, which were often written from the perspective of women interested in men - and I started to notice that some of the things described in the book from the perspective of the character were things that I sometimes felt about guys. One thing led to another, and eventually I ended up watching gay porn - to see how it was done, to see if I was interested in it, etc.

It was more of a confirmation among many other confirmations but it was still useful.

This is the kind of publicity the game needs. Just imagine all the people who will buy the game for these characters now.

I'm sitting at my desk at work right now. It's a Sunday, so very quiet, but I realise things could go bad real quick. I'll get my share of shennanigans watching this thread from my phone now.
