Particular (scenes from) games you'd be embarrassed to show to others?

(sorry if this topic has been done before, lock it then)

Thought it'd be fun to share what particular games, or scenes in games, that has made you embarrassed in front of other spectators (friends, GF, parents etc.), and why.

I remember playing God of War a couple of years ago, and wanted to show how cool the game was to my dad. Then I got to the sex minigame part, and got embarrassed as hell as I sat there and had to press buttons to screw the women. My dad laughed, but I still decided to never play a God of War game in front of him again.

Not the best story, but it still made me realize how awkward some games might be in front of others. Now share some of your stories!

:lol that's unfortunate.

I finished MGS2 in front of my dad. The blonde woman's luck had just ran out, she got shot by Ocelot (can't remember her name for some reason) and my dad asked how long was left... I told him probably not long and he sat down.

After a lot of weird stuff about running with scissors and genes, the credits started rolling and I looked at him. His eyebrows sorta raised, he laughed and said "what a load of shit, put the TV on"

And I did :lol
I enjoyed it at the time though.

I rarely play videogames these days but hell I find watching TV & Films embarassing enough sometimes around my folks let alone games.

I would say most videogame cut-scenes, due to either 1.) Laughably bad dialogue 2.) Horrendous voice-acting 3.) Piss-poor scripting. I think the only game that my Dad paid more than 5 seconds attention to was one of the chapter openings to Eternal Darkness mainly because it stood out from all the other piss-poor shit he probably saw me playing.

Tidus and Yuna laughing :). (

Luckily this is just a hypothesis. No other game has never felt so wrong...

EDIT: I was late of course :lol

Thanks for reminding me that the MGS games provide a lot of awkward scenes. That crotch-grabbing scene in MGS2 was downright laughable, and again, my dad stumbled in on that particular scene and said "what gay game is this?". Then I decided to call it quit, and shut off the PS2 and watched some Terminator 2 instead.

Only scene in the game I like.

I wouldn't show people most of the scenes in RE4, since they tend to be a bit gruesome, even more so than the previous games in the series. It's strange that the RE movies have been so tame and santitized in comparison.

My dad, who often likes to watch the shit I'm gaming (especially Uncharted, and Final Fantasy 12 for some odd reason), thought RE4 was hardcore and fun watching. Thank god he didn't ask me if I'm sick for playing such a violent game.

My mum kinda dug RE4 actually. She only saw one of the bits where I was running around as Ashley dodging things though... oh and I think she saw the final battle too.

Sadler's transformation looks awesome.

:lol I just remembered the dialogue on the Jet Ski... the very fact you save the President's Daughter and she hits on you is so bad its good

I remember someone watching the ending of Xenosaga 1 with me, and she had a "WTF is this?" expression on her face the entire time. I tried to explain that it was actually really damn cool (well, to me anyway...)

On the other hand, my mom walked in when I got to the ending of FFVII, and she was actually pretty impressed by the graphics - it really was leagues ahead of anything else at the time.

Gotta be the FFX laughing scene. I truly love that game, I do. But that scene is just shameful. I remember I was playing FFX one day and that scene was coming up, my brother was watching me play and I cut the TV off and waited 5 minutes before I turned it back on. My brother asked me why I did that, and I simply chose not to answer.

This isn't a scene but it was rather embarrassing to say the least. I once got into an argument with my brother over how EA makes shitty games and said the constant freezing in his madden games were proof of this. So I booted up GOW2 not long after to show him what a true game with true dedication behind it plays like... and it fucking froze on me 7 minutes through. He practically laughed me out of the room.

Slightly off topic, but don't you hate it when people walk in to the room and start talking on the end cutscene of a game? I hate that!

my roommate and his brother saw me fighting Shannon for the first time in God Hand, and they saw her turn me into a Chihuahua. I had a hard time explaining the game to them after that, as they just couldn't get over it

Naked Raiden.

Good thing there was noone to see me playing throught that part. Phew...

Also, Yakuza's F-Bombs.

Personally, i liked them. Added the extra touch of humour, but it would have been really awkward if my parents knew what "FUCK" means.

Oh god we had fun when i was playing God Hand and my friends came over. The fighting mechanics just was so unbelievable... meaning they loved it :D

One of my friends rolled on the floor literally when i knee`d the fat dudes in the head repeatedly.

Witchfinder General

punched Wheelchair Mike
Soul Calibur 4

At least I will when it comes out.

*Wife knocks on door*

"What are you doing in there? You've been in there for ages"

"Nothing, go away!"

"Are you playing SC4?"

"No, I've been masturbating"

"Don't lie to me, you been playing that whore of a game!"

"No, I tell you I've been jerking it off to pornography"

"Liar, I'm coming in!"

"What? No!"

*Door opens*

"Fuuuuuuuuuuck!!!"

They don't speak English. If i said "FUCK YOU ALL" as loud as i can in a room with them, they still wouldn't know what that meant and would just say that i'm crazy or something.

oh yeah, I love the game and its humor, but the two of them never heard of the game before, so the only thing they saw was me running around as the chihuahua. I told them it was a beat em up game and they were like "as a dog?!"

I'm never embarrassed by dialogue or cutscenes, because I don't care about it anyway. If people see it, I just tell them it sucks, but that it goes with the territory.

Juvenile content that makes me look like I have an emotional age of 13, though....

God of War: nipples
Ninja Gaiden 2 trailer: ludicrous blood

Does uhhhh...er....eh. Ahem. Does anime count in this thread? All I can say is...er. Nevermind. I'm gonna have to go with the "ha ha" scene of FFX.

Any cutscene from Ace Combat 6.
"Let's go dance with the angels", indeed.

What he said...

I also flew with some really stupid livery in AC6 and my father walked past, kind of raising both eyebrows and asking WTF.

And of course Kingdom Hearts, my mother would walk by, recognize Mickey or Goofy or whatever and then get confused why they were beating the s*** out of some jester figures.

Why the hell would you voluntarily activate the optional sexgame with your dad in the room? WTF.

Anyway, I don't get embarassed no matter how stupid something gets. Both me, my friends and my family all know not to take dumb shit too seriously. We laugh instead.

Any of the jumping, flipping or matrix scenes from TTS. Me and my brother cringed when we saw Snake do an absolutely pointless flip over the door of the REX control room.

Oh and almost every JRPG.

Ninja Gaiden : Rachel (or whatshername) covered with slime after fighting the tentacle monster... -_-

Sonic ADventure : chao garde. Not that it's bad, but all the people I know don't understand pointless and cute parts of a game. They wouldn't mind seeing me killing thousands of ennemies, but feeding a virtual pet would seem too weird.

I was playing God Hand in the living room the other day. As soon as my mom entered the room I turned the PS2 off. If she saw me spanking that girl, or fighting all those sexual freaks no doubt she would thought something was wrong with me. Not to mention, she would get a bad general idea of what videogames are/can be about since she doesn't know much about them and only saw me playing once or so for about five minutes.

Playing Manhunt. All of it. Explaining how much depth the game as, how the focus changes from hunted to hunter, how the gruesome kills say more about the player than about the game, etc. All to no avail.

Multiplayer games on the computer that have voice chat. It's already embarassing that Multiplayer games like Team Fortress 2 are violent, but add people that sometimes say crude or vulgar things.

Thankfully I only really encounter such people on the wrong servers.

Because I didn't know what it was about at the time? It was my first time playing the game.

Cut scenes should have a pause function actually... its annoying how a lot of them don't.

And non-gamers don't understand that you can't just pause a section you're not playing.
