I haven't downloaded it yet, but how's the performance of the PC simulator? Is it fast? Or is it really slow, like, say, the Android emulator?
Most people enjoy homebrew for one or more of the following:
- tech demos/games/etc that really take advantage of the system
- OS hacks and customizations
- Ports of licensed games like Doom, Quake, Tyrian, TTD, Duke3D...
- IOS/ROM backup loading
- Emulators*
- Piracy
The PS Suite most likely won't allow for any of that.
Plus, you're limited to the SDK... As an example, right now you can't write raw audio to the buffer, and you're only limited to a certain set of audio formats. This means music games and music in mod/xm format is out of the question right now.
With homebrew, there are no limits.
*Emulation is possible, but SNES, Genesis, or higher may not emulate well since it's not native code. And even if they did, who's to say Sony will allow them on the PS Suite?
