Poker Night 2 |OT?|

.

What's the Omaha version of pocket Jacks by the way? The kind of hand which looks good, but is notoriously hard to play.

Weak aces (AAxx) and KKxx. More beginner players go busto with those hands than any other.

.

From what I hear in the casino and from my semi-pro friend is that Omaha is even more strategy based than Hold 'em and you're less likely to lose due to a bad break and more due to a poor move on your part.

Nah, Hold'em strategy is a lot more developed than PLO. Omaha is a very different game because of the betting structure and the swings in equity of your hand on the flop.

For instance: AAxx where xx is two random cards vs 9876. AAxx will be favoured to win 60% of the showdowns preflop but since you can't just shove all in in a pot limit game, but on a board like:

5 6 x

it will swing in the other direction. Even though your opponent only has a pair of sixes with a nine kicker now, any 4, 7, 8 or 9 - that's 16 cards left in the deck, on the turn or river will give him a straight. Any 6 will give him trips for an additional two outs. If there is a flush draw on board and he has a double suited hand, he now has an additional 7-8 outs. Potentially vs your bare aces, your opponent can have over 24 outs to beat your bare aces. So effectively, your opponent has two shots to hit half the remaining deck to beat you.

In fact, in AAxx vs 9876, of all the possible flops in poker, 65% of them will turn it into a 50/50 proposition. That's why AAxx is such an overrated hand in PLO; lots of Hold'Em players think that aces can't be cracked (they are about 40% of the time) a gleefully go all in on scary boards that hit a wide variety of ranges

/poker nerdmode off.

Which is the best themed game thing?

I vote for the Army of Darkness themed game where the ending is
a nod to the deleted scene version of Army of Darkness.

Man, somehow I feel this is a step down from 1 as far as mechanics are concerned.

Glados just comes off as annoying NPC who never shuts up and pretty much grinds against a rather natural discussion among the characters. I honestly liked it before when it was the old man just doing the discussion. I hope there's a way to turn her off.

Also... dat slow UI. Back then hitting ESC will pretty much bring up the menu quickly. Here you are treated with a really slow transition.

I hate slow menus, and this shit is infuriating. Any game or DVD/Bluray that has those annoying elaborate animated menus can get very frustrating. Even Bioshock Infinite had them, but at least in that game you would barely spend any time in the menu, while here I enter the menu rather often.

Yeah, back in 1 you can simply hit escape and choose new deal without any fuss.

Also I take it that the items work differently in 2 right? In 1 you just have to restart until one of the characters would use the item as a deal/offer.

I beat Brock's all-in straight with a full house on the river.

Dude was PISSED.
He jammed his knife into the table and was like "GREAT..... HAND....."

There seems to be a really big flaw with Poker Night 2 as compared to 1... The dialogue.

There is a lot of good stuff here, but it seems to be rather stingy. The game seems content to do the same jokes over and over (sometimes 2-3 times in a single tournament) and in a few hour session I may get 1 new joke. Reading through this thread I know I've missed quite a few of them, but I have very little want or need to go back and play... I'm only missing the 1% achievement and I have all of the items and I just can't stomach the same jokes 1000 times in the hopes that I might finally get one I've missed.

Poker Night 1 seemed to do a far better job in pacing the jokes... shame I've already played it to death (even after unlocking all the items). I think I'd have a hard time going back to Texas Hold'em only as well... Also, the Brother's Chap not doing anymore Strongbad stuff makes me sad.

Yeah, here you actually have to earn your right to play for the bounties.

Bah, they made them harder. :/

Is the knife a new item and not a reskin tho? Because you'd think if you'd need to do some effort on unlocking it, it should be more than a reskin.

I have lost every single match of this game in the final face off. Every single one. Usually by a really outrageous hand that whomever I'm going against just happens to have.

In 24 games, I have come in second 24 times.
