PvP-driven FPS in development by veterans from Respawn, Bungie, and Blizzard debuts trailer

New developer Mountaintop Studios features some of the best developers from hit companies like Respawn, Bungie, Blizzard, Naughty Dog, and more. The developer is creating a new FPS PvP game that’s in development and it has showcased its first-ever trailer today giving insight into the game’s look and style.
The trailer is fairly cryptic and doesn’t give a whole lot of way, instead preferring to show short glimpses of many things like important symbols, maps, maybe some weapons, and even a character or two. The game hasn’t been given a title yet, but it looks like it has clear inspiration from Apex Legends, so it will be interesting to see how this new title from Mountaintop Studios is able to differentiate itself.

Not much at all is known about Mountaintop’s upcoming game outside of the fact that it will be a new FPS PvP game. On the developer’s website, they are primarily boasting multiple rounds of investing where they’ve brought in millions of dollars. The developer is also hiring for new positions, likely to help bolster the team working on the game shown in the trailer today.

We got the best developers, trust us!

On-topic: looks like some sort of arena shooter from the shots of the maps, I'm assuming.

Joke is right now we have a indie block shooter called Battlebit dominating the PC gaming space because EA dropped the ball so hard with large scale combined arms objective driven class based gameplay.

So instead they go chasing the small scale competitive arena shooter, no doubt pushing esports before the game even launches and no one gives a shit about because its just like everything else.

BattleBit Remastered is currently hemorrhaging players at a pretty crazy rate. That game doesn't appear to have legs.

Right because the core demographic of multiplayer shooter fans want grounded games that take themselves seriously within the context of their worlds.

BF4 vs 2042 is a good example.

BF4 is completely authentic and grounded BUT you can launch a jeep trough the air using C4 or jump out of a jet mid air and shoot the jet behind you with an RPG. Nothing in the game EVER ackowledges that you can do this. Why? Because that doesn't happen in a real warfare which BF4 is trying to portray, not in the sense of realism but in the sense of authenticity. It doesn't feel close like real war like Arma can but it can look like real war in certain scenarios.

However in 2042 the very first reveal trailer acknowledged that you can do all of these funny things within the game instead of those instances just being silly things that can happen because of the way the game plays.

Though Battlebit is only low poly blocks. It's soldiers vs soldiers in an authentic setting that takes itself seriously.

Somehow almost all of these games from ex Blizzard developers have not been very good so far. The only thing I can think of is Guild Wars 2, what else is there?

Literally entering closed beta this month... since iv never got the invite for years it's essentially a more online Animal Crossing with a more fantasy twist.

Could be good, could be shit, but il be finding out this month.

Teaser? This only shows that they have nothing to show. GTF back to work and post on social media when you actually have a functional game.

Not alot to go on but it looks like a csgo/valorant, good luck with that. I'm sure it wont end up hanging with lawbreakers.

Really don’t need another valorant / csgo. Shooters really need some innovation.

I hope that in the near future, there will be so much multiplayer games that people will get so fed up and developers will finally start creating singleplayer experiences again.
