Quantum of Solace, maybe it wasn't as dumb as we thought.

I remember watching Quantum of Solace and thinking that the big bad's idea to steal all the water for itself was dumb as fuck and could never happen.

Cut to today and the Nestle corporation is basically doing exactly what the bond villain was trying to do.

Maybe quantum of Solace was better than I remember 🤔🤔? I don't know what do you all think about it now?

j/k. The fact that folks buy bottled water when you can so easily filter it at home just boggles my mind. Like 95% of bottled water is just someone elses tap water.

Quantum is fine. It's short, fast-paced, stylish, heartfelt, a bit goofy but with brutal action sequences. The bit where Bond stabs the guy in the neck and just watches him bleed out was harsh. Also, the opera sequence is incredible.

Its biggest downside is the horribly filmed intro chase and the super lame antagonist who poses no threat to literally anyone.

Quantum of Solace was a little too "grounded" for the modern Bond franchise in terms of the evil villain's evil scheme

The film's script had issues because of the writer's guild strike that was going on at the time but considering all the obstacles it faced, they made a very tight action flick with some of the better directed and shot action scenes in the franchise

I don't think QoS is the worst movie of the Daniel Craig era, that honor belongs to Spectre. And even then I don't think it's a bad movie, it actually tries really hard to be good and just falls a bit short

If you thought No Time to Die was bad, then you have bad taste and you are bad. The End

Exposing the sinister cartel of retailers who allow companies to pay for advertising space.

All the action scenes were horribly filmed. When we watched it in the cinema, the only seats available were right in front of the screen. Sitting so close to the screen and with all the fast cutting, I wasn't able to follow any action scene. It happened too fast for my brain to focus on what was happening. Such a horrible experience. I hated hated hated Quantum of Solace. It's the worst James Bond ever in my view and such a downgrade after Casino Royale which just was the perfect action movie.

Pretty sure I remember a podcast saying that a corporation, government, whatever in the past before the movie even released had done a similar thing, and they had increased the prices percentage-wise even higher than what Quantum’s villain was increasing.

So not only was there a pre-existing incident of this happening, but the movie actually didn’t even go as insane as the real life incident in terms of what they charged.

Eon struct gold by reinventing Bond with Casino Royale. I think they got carried away with the new modernized version and took it too far with QoS.

Intro gun barrel, gone.
Iconic theme song, gone.
Maniacal villains, gone.
Gadgets, gone.

At least in Casino Royale Bond still felt like a spy. He had the concealed gun tray and defib unit in his Aston and the GPS tracker in his arm... Quantum was devoid of any of those subtleties.

I should revisit it, as I usually only go back to Casino Royale.
I love Casino Royale. I'm with the OP, I should revisit QoS as I've only watched it once lol

I only ever saw it once, I should probably give it another chance at some point but I didn't care for it, thought it was a big drop off in quality after Casino Royale. I enjoyed Skyfall a lot more.
Yeah Skyfall and Javier Bardem was amazing.

I don't remember much about it other than being incredibly boring and having one of the worst filmed and edited car chase sequences at the beginning of the film.

That opening car/on-foot chase was disorienting. I lost track of which car was which and where the characters were in relation to the environment.

Makes me think that it broke some kind of "rule" of editing because I'm not the only one pointing it out as being hard to follow.
