Rayman Legends |OT| "It's a bit like a porno" (Michel Ancel) WiiU/360/PS3/Vita/PC

Is the EU version on Steam different from the NA version? Will my leaderboards think I'm in Europe or is that based on IP? Also, does the Europe version have the Rayman Origins pre-purchase bonus?

man the selection of levels they chose for Desert of Didgeridoos in Back to Origins bummed me out. Weakest set in the bunch.
The rest all have great lineups imo.

Spoilers regarding level picks
Can anyone confirm if the last level in Mystical Pique is the full Livid Dead stage, or just the boss fight with Voodoo Mama?

just the boss. Completed it a few hours ago

Wait, so no
full Land of the Livid Dead from Origins?

nope. Just the final boss. You'd have thought they'd have thrown in some of the mechanical bosses to end Mystic Pique but you get the airship mosquito battle followed by voodoo mama. (seperate paintings)

Wow.
Land of the Livid Dead is probably my favorite platforming stage ever.
Why the heck wouldn't they bring it back...easily one of the best Origins levels.

hype slightly deflated.

I never even got to play that level. Didn't you have to 100% the game to get it or something? I don't have the patience to 100% a game.

Judging from the shared opinion that Legends is a great deal easier than Origins in many ways, asides from a few anomalous levels, I'd wager that as being the key reason it was omitted, in that it was percieved as too difficult for the more forgiving overall difficulty of Legends. That's just a guess though, it might just have been as simple as time restriction meaning they couldn't port the whole level over in time.

Ugh thats a real bummer, as already stated that full stage is a classic.

I guess porting over just that bit is easier though since they only have to worry about placing three teensies instead of a full ten (which is what Id assume theyd do for a full version of the level)

If difficulty was the reason... *grumble*. First levels on my list would have been Livid Dead, most/all of the tricky treasure stages, and The Chase.

If the difficulty of most of the Legends stages is really as lax as some people say, I wouldn't mind a DLC pack containing any good Origins levels that were omitted alongside some harder original levels.

As someone who wasn't the biggest fan of origins how does this compare? I played the demo and aside from the keeping momentum when you attack in midair it seemed like more of the same with better art. I haven't watched many trailers but I'm thinking of picking this up since I'm in the mood for a good platformer.

If you didn't like Origins, not enough has really changed that I would say would sway you.

My fave from Origins was Mecha No Mistake. I found the Time Trial in that stage harder than Land of the Livid Dead (I beat it quite quickly, only had trouble at the boss). Is it back on the Return to Origins section?

I don't know, but remember that the time trials from Origins are not in Legends.

Been playing so much co-op, drained the battery of my GamePad mid game. Literally the first time that's happened since WiiU launch.

Feels good :)

I was just thinking this last night when looking at the level selection, having both levels that use the snake instrument things that fly through the sky was an odd decision.
It seems that none of the stages that had the nymph chases got put in which is a shame, instead they went overboard with mosquito stages, bugger.

No, it's the same game worldwide, pre-purchase bonuses and all. I'm not familiar with how Uplay handles leaderboards, but I'd wager, if not by IP address, then your location is determined by the address you used when registering.

Any tricky treasure levels? Mecha No Mistake? The Reveal/The Chase?

I like hard levels :p

I never played origins and bought this on a whim but this shit is amazing. One of the best platformers ever.

Mecha No Mistake and a few Treasure stages are in, can't entirely recall the treasure ones off the top of my head, I think it's Tricky Temple too, Ice fishing Folly and maybe Tuned up Treasure.

Mariachi Madness

everything stopped moving
when I died. Was pretty annoying.

Man, what a beautiful game. Great to do a few levels now and again when I'm taking a breather from something more serious. The art direction, animations and music are just unbelievably good. I feel like I have to stop every now and again to take it all in.

Are there any other fun, colourful platformers like this for PC?

In regards to tricky treasure levels there is one per Origins world. They are

Playing in the Shade (Jibberish Jungle), Tuned up Treasure (Desert of Dijiridoos), Ice-Fishing Folly (Gourmand Land), Risky Ruin (Sea of Serendipity) and Tricky Temple Too (Mystical Pique)

Mecha No Mistake is in as someone mentioned earlier. As for The Reveal, no it is not, The chase, only the airship mosquito battle is in, not the platforming sections.

On a non spoiler topic. Does anyone know yet what the fastest way to earn lums is? I've completed all the core game stuff, so all 700 teensies saved, all scratch cards scratched etc. overall I have 475k lums, that includes the uPlay "rewards". Are the challenges rewarding in terms of lums or is it faster to farm one of the shorter levels for them. It would get boring pretty fast to farm 1 level over and over for 500k lums, especially since you are capped at 999 per level.

This game isn't just good, 10 or 9.0, or great fun.

Legends is simply one of those games that reminds you exactly why, as a kid, you took the controller to play Mario or spent your first coin-op chip and never stopped caring about videogames. It's an uninterrupted stream of cheerful weirdness, and audiovisual delight.

Played back to back with Dark Souls (which could not be more different, really, except in its fierce pure-gaming spirit) , almost makes you think CoD never happened.

I'm still deciding wether to buy the game on Wii U or PC - can I play with my CC Pro too? I only have one Wii U Pro Controller right now and would like to use my 2 Wii CC instead of only the wiimotes - Is that possible?
On PC I have 3 Xbox and one CC Pro Controller/SNES Controller to use, so that would work too.

I've seen everything the game has to offer (minus the Back To Origins levels, Kung Foot and the ultimate stage) in 8h40. I've also spent a bit less than 4 hours in the Challenge App. So around 15 hours in total. Not bad. I don't think I'll try to get all the lums, there's just too many of them and Silver in most Invaded levels is good enough for me.
I don't know I'm still a bit disappointed by it. It feels like an expansion pack. I think a story presentation/context is seriously missing, it's just a pack of levels without a coherent world. The invaded levels are a good addition but they are more like time trials levels, and you can clear most of them in a few tries. They are not really a twist of existing levels like the comet stages in Super Mario Galaxy. It's too easy overall, you can get Gold and 8 out of 10 lums on your first try in most stages. I thought this was going to be probably my platforming game of the year but now Super Mario 3D World has even more chance to earn it. It's still a 7 or 8/10 game but I don't think I'll replay it in the future.

My earlier stance was made when I didn't have a job though, so go easy on me~

I'm probably the only freak who did this, but did anyone else entertain themselves during the Rayman Origins loading screens by attempting to "hide" Rayman behind the various silhouetted objects as quickly as possible?

I was a little disappointed that the load screens in Legends are a little less conducive to that stupid habit.

So is this expected to be a midnight release on Wii U eShop?

edit: beaten twice in the last 10 posts. shame on me. :(

(not buying it on the eShop anyway, but it's always fun to get in on that release moment excitement!)

I am going to pick up the Wii U version a little down the line when it goes on sale (not on eShop), and just get the Vita version right now. Gotta have those Mario and Luigi costumes, lol.

Yeah I might double dip too. Pretty strapped for cash at the moment, so I think I may go for Vita first as well. Still thinking about it.

I'm going Vita first and only.

I've got so many games coming this year - I want a spread amongst all my platforms.

Indeed, too many games is the problem. :\

If I do double-dip, then it'll be after there's a substantial price drop. Of course, knowing Ubisoft, that shouldn't take long at all. By Black Friday and/or Boxing Day, the game should be like 20 bucks, lol.

Well, it's not up on the eShop. Unless midnight releases on the eShop go by a different NA timezone? I have no idea. I don't really often buy things on there, lol.

LOL, guilty! And here I thought I was the only one who did this!

ah, phooey

I think it's just the first party/third party divide. Based on past experiences, I think first party games tend to go up at midnight eastern, but third party games go up at noon.
