Resident Evil 5: Director's Cut coming soon

I think there's no question RE4 is the superior game. However, despite all its flaws, RE5 is good enough to warrant a purchase, imo.

There's no way they'd hold onto DLC for this long after release if it were on the disc.

i just read a few days ago ''capcom thinking about more re5 dlc''

so um yeah.

The original person postulated that Capcom was "pulling a fast one." In other words, fabricating DLC by giving you an unlock key. Capcom wouldn't have waited this long if the content only required an unlock key.

I fucking love RE5.

I will buy whatever this is if it's on disc; I will buy it if it's DLC. I DON'T CARE, I JUST WANT IT!

This is the first I've ever heard of this and my pants get wet with the prospect of more RE5 :D

EDIT: Capcom, for the love of my sanity, give me Chris's bondage outfit as DLC D:

oh i missed that, my apologies.

I bought RE5 for $60 on launch. It was a massive disappointment. Yet I felt it was worth every penny. Does that make sense?

If it's a new release and it ISN'T out on PC the same day as the console versions, I will go fucking mental.

60fps 1080p comes at a cost bro.

Doubt it'll be DLC. It wouldn't e called directors edition if it were. A new mode with Jill potentially? Sign me up.

Not if they're chasing you trying to spray herb on you
I always played coop so this wasn't a concern for me, but this was a valid issue

Maybe it removes Sheva from the game completely.

I wish.
It would be hilarious if the "No Sheva" mode took her out in the cutscenes but still had characters talking to her like they have schizophrenia.

I don't understand why she couldn't have her own separate campaign that could interleave with the events of a single-player Chris campaign. You know, like Ada from RE4 - or some shit. If cooperative must be applied, then leave it for some other mode like Mercenaries.

Instead I had to babysit her dumbass the entire way. I'm sure the game is more enjoyable with a human player filling her shoes, but I shouldn't have to do that shit to enjoy the game on a basic level.

Look at Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2. It has three additional protagonists other than Ryu. However, all of these protagonists have their separate thing going on in the main game. Cooperative mode is limited to missions that are unrelated to the main campaign completely. This is the smart thing to do.

Amazing game all the way through. One of this generation's best, without question.

Would buy a Director's Cut on day one, especially if they put in some of the planned stages we've seen from artwork.

Unless you've missed every RE5 thread ever made, you'd know there has been a shitton of questioning.

Cuz having more characters means new scenarios to design, unless if they're just copies of each other (read:RE1 for the most part). And if they are given unique scenarios, as RE5's super-linear setup isn't great for designing multiple ways to play through, they'll have to design new areas. And all this costs monies they may not be willing to spend.

Although, for the repeat areas in RE4's Separate Ways, they were pretty good at mixing up the action with enemy placement and the Hookshot.

When someone says "without question," they are speaking for themselves, not everyone. And I'm shocked I had to explain that to you.

Oh, and the official RE5 thread was filled with tons of love.

I got no problem with the character. I have a problem with having to play the fucking game with her the whole way through. Look, its bad enough every developer feels the need to shove a stupid multiplayer in every game, but now I have to put up with forced multiplayer in my single player campaign. Fuck that.

And tons of hate. Anyways, I dont have a stake in the argument either way, as I never played RE5. If this DC comes to fruition, it may be time to finally change that.

What's with all the Sheva hate? Ashley followed Leon around half the time in RE4 and she couldn't do jack shit except get kidnapped so you had to chase her down. You even had to spend gold herbs to raise her health bar as well as Leon's. Nobody seems to remember to bitch about all that shit anymore.

Sheva was awesome, and at least more of a competent AI partner than you get in most games. Sure she may be a little herb happy, but it's not like there aren't 50 bajillion herbs lying around everywhere in RE5 anyway.

RE5 was awesome. Hoping this is DLC, otherwise I'll wait for it to hit the bargain bin.

She also always stayed directly behind you and didn't waste ammo and herbs. Single Player RE5: Nooot fuuuun.

First bolded/underlined point is a lie - it was a few small segment of the game. Second bolded/underlined point is because of the first point - people dont remember/bitch about it because the sections were so brief.

I dunno, it felt like half the game...but that didn't matter to me, because IMO Ashley was one of the best escort subjects in a video game. (read:eek:ne the only ones that didn't piss me off)

If it really was that much, than Capcom did an amazing job, because it never felt like an escort type of game to me, and Ashley usually stayed in the background where she should.

Bitching about Sheva makes no sense to me. I played through on each difficulty and there was almost never a time where she got in the way.

If they have PS3 motion controls I'll sink.

I tried the RE5 demo and was so unimpressed by the controls I didn't purchase what was, at one point, my most-wanted game. I loved RE4 on Gamecube, and loved it again on wii, but once I tasted IR/motion controls I couldn't go back to the original layout (especially on a PS controller).

Please give me your copy of Resident Evil 5. Perhaps it's possible that her stupidity in the copy I owned is a result of a defective disc?

Ashley was pretty intelligent. She would always stay behind you, always follow you unless told otherwise, and would actively dodge enemies. If she was in danger, then chances are so is Leon.

Sheva actively gets in your way, makes little effort to dodge or run away from enemies, and will often separate herself from you.

The only time Ashley is a nuisance is when an enemy launches a flaming rock or something at you and you survive but she dies, but you get her killed in the first place. Sheva will run face first in to a chainsaw wielding maniac.

Funny how they waited until the incredibly late PC port was already out.

I love your games, Capcom, but I kind of hate you as a company.

By the sounds of the interview, they've only started working on this (VA mentions having recorded it last week - I'm assuming there was a short delay between recording the interview and it appearing online). Seems more like Capcom completed console RE5, began working on the PC version (which has some pretty decent extra features) and then moved onto an enhanced rerelease.

Focusing manpower as it is freed up isn't as funny as you suggest.

Some DLC would be great. Seems like a big waste to build all that tech and assets for just one game. I loved RE5 and I'd definitely like the chance to play some more content along similar lines.

bish gets all the credit :)
Make a non-retarded version of Sheva, and I'll pick it up. I'd rather they change the story and remove her completely, but they won't, so I'll settle for an intelligent Sheva.

They never showed what happened to her post-implant removal and pre-helicopter rescue.

Jill + Josh co-op in the Director's cut.

And I want the Spencer's Estate flashback playable.

I almost never had these issues. She only died maybe 3 times in 4 playthroughs.

Maybe they'll let Mikami cut the entire game and build something new. Otherwise Takeuchi will just add more orange weakspots to enemies.

Seriously, defending the game is fine, but do not fabricate shit to do so.

Personally, i thought RE4 was better because it was paced better, was more difficult and atmospheric and had good level design and bosses.

Resident Evil 5 had none of those.

As for this DC, i am none too pleased. The only way i could be happy is if i got this as DLC for the PC version i just started to download about 15 mins ago.

I only played it co-op, but I really liked Sheva and I loved the inventory mechanic. It was limiting, but it was fun to manage around with with two players. Kinda that Dead Rising appeal to it, for me.

I had a lot more fun with it than 4, I didn't even finish 4 because it felt grating in the second half.

Alright, I'll finally get the game once this comes out. I've been holding out due to my friends telling me how terribly disappointing it is (after loving RE2,3, and 4).

If it IS a Wii version, that would be amazing too :D Love the RE4 Wii edition, but if it's totally different then I might have to pick up the PS3/PC version too :lol
