I'm going to be kind of annoyed if they're using Broadway again. I mean Christ, really?

It does use "Watson tech"... eDRAM.To be fair, the change came about really late. Although what's bizarre is we still have this article where IBM spoke to Engadget and told them of the Watson tech in Wii U. Was that also a misunderstanding?

The biggest shame right now is that there's isn't a game announced/shown that takes full use of the Wii-U graphics hardware seemingly?
I have a feeling that whatever title that displays that will not release before the new PlayStation and Xbox become available (and we know Sony have heaps of their studios working on titles already).

Wait, this makes no sense.
Forgive me if I may be wrong (and let me preface by once again pointing out that I don't know dick about them fancy computer doodads), but considering Wii-U has double the amount of RAM than the PS360, shouldn't the CPU also be more powerful in order to take advantage of all that extra RAM?
Yeah, I totally agree this is a big problem.
It's likely by the time anything begins to tap the Wii U hardware, it just wont matter anymore, as machines 3 times or more as powerful will be upon us.
Nothing has been shown so far that looks above PS360 level, and more or less anything coming out in the next year would probably have to be shown by now.
I think if Nintendo had planned better, they could have had 4 or 5 hot looking, not possible on PS360, hardcore titles lined up for launch and beyond.
IMO it wouldn't have altered the long term grim future of the console anyway, but it would have garnered them a few more year one sales.
Except the console will probably be supply limited the first few months anyway, by which time the PS4/720 demos and previews will already be coming and everybody will hold of on Wii U, so disregard everything I just said LOL. It doesn't matter.

Can someone explain this to me? Just because PS4/720 come out doesn't mean Wii U stops existing. So games that push its graphics will matter to Wii U owners and other gamers interested in upgrading from the PS3/360.
I dont think the odds of a Nintendo system surviving in the core gaming space without a Wii-esque hook are very good.
Gamecube didn't even do well, and it was at least technically competent for it's generation. That was proof Nintendo's belated IP's dont cut it by themselves (in the core space).
So it requires the Gamepad 2nd display to catch on, which nobody seems to think it will.
I actually think the Gamecube is why Nintendo has never been the same since. In their eyes, going down the strong hardware traditional path is a dead end for them.
My opinion is if you are a Nintendo fan, hope the Wii U fails fast and hard, so that it's clearly dead by say 2014, and then hope Nintendo wakes up and comes back strong. I think the first part is covered. the 2nd? More difficult.
If I was a Nintendo fan that's the silver lining of Wii U. It wont meander along and do "ok", like the PSP for example all those years, it will flame and crash horribly. At that point Nintendo will have to do some soul searching.
All imo etc etc disclaimer etc.
I don't think either of us were measuring mass market appeal. Just personal appeal. The Wii-U will (seemingly) graphically never have it's time in the light before the next wave of consoles arrives.Look, has the ancient history Wii taught you anything about software being the driver of hardware? You and I may froth over bokeh DOF approximations, but the mass market will be driven by software. If Nintendo has that software (obviously seamlessly integrated into their new interface) is still out on verdict, but that's the same place all 3 consoles stand irrespective to their hardware power at the moment. Consoles aren't purchased on tech demos and promises, they are purchased because people want to play games that interest them.
Outside of 1st party studios working on big AAA games (the next Zelda, the next 3D Mario) it would seem pointless to sweat and dig into the Nintendo machine architecture with two other quite dramatically more powerful consoles available.I feel like history is repeating itself. This is exactly what the discussion was like when the wii was released. "No game makes full use of the wii, surely we will se games that blow GC/xbox out of the water when someone pushes it". Now that never happend did it? If Wii-U has superior capabilities over PS360 we would have seen it already. It's not like every developer out there, including Nintendo, sucks.

I can't believe I'm posting in here again (ok, yes I can), but about the GPU...it is modeled on the R700 series, but it has significantly more GPRs. However, it seems to have fewer GPRs then the E6760, so...make your own conclusions.
OK, NOW I'm done.

Haha, OK, I won't demand it thenHaha. I'd have to go back to WUST 1 to remember what we talked about.
Nope. I don't believe it, but if anybody deserves credit it's Fourth Storm. He found it and PM'd it to me.

The Wii U is Jet Jaguar? Man, now I regret not pre-ordering.The Wii U will save us all from Megalon.

Well, in the movie, maybe. I'm talking about really real life though. The big G had to step in to save JJ's ass, at least that's how I remember it.

edit:
Godzilla = GPU

?
I've said too much already.
So something along those lines then?John Blain said:2 GPUs clocked at 725MHz
• 2GB of DDR5 Memory clocked at 1000MHz
• 256MB of memory data width
• 2048x1536 VGA resolution, 1920x1200 HDMI resolution, 2560x1600 DL DVI resolution
I trust you.

I trust that you've seen some documentation Matt, Im just unsure about your conclusions. No offense but you did confuse CPU instructions with instructions per clock earlier.
If the Wii-U really was substantially more poewrfull, they wouldn't need to do that in order to produce more graphically impressive games than we have seen on PS360.Outside of 1st party studios working on big AAA games (the next Zelda, the next 3D Mario) it would seem pointless to sweat and dig into the Nintendo machine architecture with two other quite dramatically more powerful consoles available.
Eh, doesn't seem up to page with what other developer's had to say about Wii U. Actually, this line seems kind of contradicting.
"With the Wii U being new hardware, were still getting used to developing for it, so there are still a lot of things we dont know yet to bring out the most of the processing power."
It seems like there is still a lot they don't know yet about the PS3 given how crappy they look. Lol
