So basically I'll still be able to upload my videos like I do now. This won't affect people doing it for fun right?
Uh, sorry but I can't see shit on there.
You can bet if this did anything to the Grumps, I'd sure as hell raise a stink. And I'm sure their rabid fan base would have something to say too.
This whole thing would backfire badly. Guess we just have to wait and see.
people earning massive amounts of money by playing games and talking over them shouldn't exist.
If anyone deserves that money its the developers who did actual WORK to make said games.

Definitely not sarcastic, I've seen/met dozens of people that watch full playthroughs of games on youtube so they don't have to play them themselves.
I know someone on GAF that watches playthroughs of pretty much every PS3 exclusive because he doesn't own a PS3.
And the PERSONALITIES that have managed to garner the hundreds, thousands, millions of viewers to advertise said game should just put all that work in to provide free advertising to huge audiences for fun should they?
Angry Joe talked about this in Twitter a few days ago (start from bottom):
Wow, that's definitely what Sessler was scared about, not fucking free ps4s.
Google giveth, and Google taketh away....
Yes this is trueIf their personalities are marketable they won't have trouble finding work.

I don't understand why people hate lets players.

Nobody is forcing you to watch them and it is very obvious that people enjoy them.
I would say Jealousy but GAF would clamp down on me fast telling me how wrong I am
I know how people view the ads. Let's see these same individuals put in the "work" to play through these games if they aren't monetized for them.
It's the fault of the content producers because they rightfully hold all the rights to the game content and that will never change.
I love how many of these noble LPers/game footage rippers say that they do it for the love of the game but put up a stink when they can no longer make money off of it and immediately move on to someone who hasn't decided to enforce their rights.
I'll say it for you.
Everyone here who hates 'Let's Players' are jealous, depressed and envious people who want to spread their negativity and cynicism to the world because they've given up on everything they once loved.
Exactly. If the company who makes the game doesn't like it then the person streaming will just cover other games. Screw publishers who actually want to cut people out of this and take the money for themselves like Nintendo. There are a lot of good publishers out there though.why the fuck do people care about somebody else "getting a real job" or some shit. Life has always been about the hustle and thinking outside the box to get money.
so what about people who monetize fighting game tournament stream/archives? o they don't help produce anything all of a sudden?
Or what about game reviews? I don't want to spend 60 dollars on a mediocre game. Hell I don't even spend 60 dollars on a good game most of the time.
People are just being salty dumb fucks over people hustling. Those twitch streamers that get donations for hundreds of dollars a day? They get respect for being able to convince random people to pay.
This is going to affect FarFromSubtle when it comes to Youtube, but they can easily live off Twitch and their subscribers giving money.

It won't stop at Youtube.
As soon as Youtube goes legit and starts making deals with companies like Activision and EA to allow the sharing of revenue, twitch will need to fall into line or the hammer will come down hard.
The bottom line is people are making good money and you can't expect the companies that made Origin and Uplay a thing to sit on the sidelines and just let it happen.
Even if this isn't the full story, change is coming.
Nothing legit about this. Fair use is legit, what the publishers want is far from it.It won't stop at Youtube.

Good. It sickens me that figures like PewDiePie make obscene amounts of money for being obscene while playing video games.
I don't mind if someone make money by playing video game if they play it with actual skills. Maybe like executing ultra combo in fighting game, or speedrun in general. But normally playing with nothing to differentiate except insightless commentary?
Why do people care what other people find entertaining? I don't get why he's so popular but he obviously has a massive following and is doing something right. Sounds deserving of the wealth to me.I don't mind if someone make money by playing video game if they play it with actual skills. Damn shame. Game related content is just about all I watch on youtube nowadays. Some of these guys do amazing work and absolutely deserve to make money off of it.

Mostly people are bitter at their success.
I have no problem with quality streamers/LPER's who are good at games. But folks like PewdiePie shouldnt make a dime for making rape jokes and playing games.
I think that'll depend on the publisher, Sega for example has a stated "no upload" policy there and we saw how they'd chase after Youtube videos of decade and a half old games just for cheap marketing purposes (they have a newer Shining game! DON'T LET PEOPLE FIND THE OLDER ONES WHEN THEY SEARCH FOR IT) so they really may crack down there, and Rockstar sounds like they may have a thin skin for cutscenes though I wager for the most part those aren't the most exciting movies to dig up on Youtube of their games anyway. So basically I'll still be able to upload my videos like I do now. This won't affect people doing it for fun right?
