TONIGHT ON THE EL REY MYSTERIO JR NETWORK

DJPBr2xUIAADUhx.jpg

Lucha Underground's 100th episode

Rey Mysterio Jr vs Matanza
During the Cueto Cup finals, not only did Rey Mysterio Jr. bypass Cueto's decree of no outside interference by having Dominic get involved, he also gave El Jefe a 619.

Atomicos Match: Team Puma vs Worldwide Underground
Prince Puma vs Johnny Mundo are slated for a Career vs Title match at Ultima Lucha 3, so to fill time until then, here's a tag match! We don't know who Puma's team is going to have, but there's a good chance it has Sexy Star, which means more unfortunately timed face Sexy Star appearances
.
Pentagon DARK vs Dragon Azteca Jr.
Both of these dudes have broken each others arm at some point. So there's a good chance this ends with someone's arm getting fucked up.

Really solid card, hopefully it's a great show.

Q&A
When's Ultima Lucha Tres?
Ultima Lucha Tres is going to be a 4 week event starting two weeks from today on September 27
Is Lucha Underground good again?
It has it's moments. Still not as good as the amazing first season, but I still tune into it every week. This might be the last ride for Lucha Underground before everyone bails and never returns, so enjoy it while it lasts.

Bonus: Dario Cueto's 10 favorite things about Lucha Underground.

Considering Vince's age and bone loss isn't it possible Owens could have cracked his skull open with that?

Its such a fucking dumb spot considering what they know about head injuries.

Seems quite possible. Also way more likely to cause a concussion. Stupid thing to do. Vince likely encouraging him to do it as hard as it looks like he did is insane too.

Wrestling is a fake sport. People legitimately hitting and hurting each other (and in some cases no selling actually getting hurt) is so fucking stupid.

It has been said that anything can happen here in WWE, but now more than ever, truer words have never been spoken. This is a conscious effort on our part to open the creative envelope, so to speak, in order to entertain you in a more contemporary manner. Even though we call ourselves "sports-entertainment" because of the athleticism involved, the key word in that phrase is "entertainment." WWE extends far beyond the strict confines of sports presentation into the wide open environment of broad-based entertainment. We borrow from such programs niches like soap operas like Days of Our Lives; or music videos such as those on YouTube; daytime talk shows like The Wendy Williams Show and others; cartoons like Family Guy on FOX; sitcoms like GLOW and other widely-accepted forms of television entertainment.

We in WWE think that you, the audience, are quite frankly tired of having your intelligence insulted. We also think that you're tired of the same old simplistic theory of "works versus shoots." Surely the era of the superhero urging you to say your prayers and take your vitamins is definitely passé. Therefore, we've embarked on a far more innovative and contemporary creative campaign, that is far more invigorating and extemporaneous than ever before. However, due to the live nature of RAM and the Smack Zone, we encourage some degree of parental discretion, as relates to the younger audience allowed to stay up late. Other WWE programs on the award-winning WWE Network, such as the Cruiserweight Classic and the Mae Young Classic, where there's a 40% increase in the weirdo hardcore wrestling fan audience, obviously, however, need no such discretion.

We are irresponsible television producers who work hard to bring you this outrageous, wacky, wonderful world known as WWE. Through some 50 years, WWE Entertainment Brands have been entertainment mainstays here in North America and all over the WWE Universe. One of the reasons for that longevity is: as the times have changed, so have we. I'm happy to say that this new vibrant creative direction has resulted in a huge decrease in television viewership, for which we thank the USA Network and the award-winning WWE Network for allowing us to have the creative freedom. But most especially, we would like to thank you for watching. RAM and the Smack Zone are definitely the cure for the common show.

Headbutts should be banned from wrestling.

Agreed. It is fucking crazy they are even doing it in the first place. Especially after all the CTE studies in modern times. And especially in a post-Shibata world.

But I mean fuck, the G1 this year had a lot of spots people would do in AJPW and NOAH decades ago that people STOPPED doing for years after Misawa died in the ring. As wonderful as this G1 was as an event, even if this year was acceptable, when it comes to the next G1 or even WK, it is actually worrying what people will try to do to top what they have been doing.

klonere wants people to die in the ring for this business.

even if wrestling fans are all about performer safety the very act of watching wrestling and giving promotions or individuals money is hypocritical. the simplest actions in a wrestling match are extremely damaging in the long term and the current hard hitting style popularized by Japanese wrestling and WWE "moments" massive stunt show spots only amplifies this

there never will be a concerted call from fans to tone down anything. it has to come from wrestlers and management who equally have no real interest in this until outside forces come down on the industry. which may never happen.

dont hand ring about this shit, it will never change and only get worse.

I don't hand-wring over wrestling. I don't care.

Take that, NeoGAF Vince McMahon!

John Pollock is an MMA journalist, a sport where fans pine for the return of a promotion that allowed soccer kicks to the head.

You should be able to soccer kick people in the head in America. You'll never understand because you're in Ireland or whatever.

Looking at the type of match Elgin and Omega had during G1 and being concerned is one thing. A 72 year old getting his forehead busted open by a legitimate headbutt is another thing.

Saying that, I feel like these things go in cycles. Everyone tries to top each other, bad shit happens, people slow down, things pick up again. There is very little anyone on the outside looking in can do because the carnival blood has a will of it's own. But it is still a worry to see. Especially given the history of this business. People are fooling themselves if they think drugs and painkillers aren't being constantly abused when people are taking bumps through tables 250+ days a year.

I have had some hellish nights drinking with random Irish folks. Waking up the next morning and peeling dead layers of skin from my eyeballs levels of hellishness.

The Irish are good people.

I saw Miz/Enzo shoot and Vince's headbutt.

1. Master work by Miz. Enzo's response was okay.
2. Vince Kennedy McMahon is insane. His insane ideas will get him killed.
