They could set it up as Pearl hoping to find a bit of Rose inside when fused Or that being Rainbow Quartz again would make her relive the old days. Except that she's now short and fat.
That's why they set her up as being the unstable, bad idea fusion. Opal and Sardonyx are cooler anyway.
Sugilite is my personal favorite though yeah using her often seems like a bad idea, especially since she's self-feeding and too stable, unlike the other fusions.
I wonder, if Amethyst and Ruby fused into gem x, who fused with Sapphire, would you get Sugilite? Or would it be a separate gem?

They might actually be waiting for him to get poofed before updating his character. Some seem pretty fake. Out of them there is the episodes airing over the next few weeks on top of that we have Gem Harvest, Tiger Philanthropist and Last One Out of Beach City from the leaked list WAAAAY back.

Considering he's flesh and blood I'm not sure if he can be poofed. Don't forget that gems' bodies are made out of hard light.
But he can fuse with both humans and gems, which does imply his body may have special properties.
We won't know until we know, though. I almost thought Bubbled was going to show what happens when Steven get poofed or crackes, but alas.

The reveal of whether Steven is capable of being disrupted and poofing is probably one of the last big secrets the show has left to spill.
His body seems to be flesh and blood since he can get hurt, cut, and bruised like normal and he needs to eat and sleep. Fusions shows his gem can manipulate normal matter though, and move it around.
It could be that Steven can "poof" but it has to be a conscious decision to move inside his gem, taking the matter of his body with him, rather than his body being disrupted.

No source given. This same kind of list has been posted and reposted on /co/ occasionally since the nuke began. Adding known titles like Last One Out of Beach City appears to give it legitimacy, but it's just a ploy.

What if his body is Steven and his gem is Rose, if his body would be destroyed he would be destroyed as well and and only Rose would be left.
So he would be some kind of fusion as well and there is no poofing for him possible.

I'd be surprised if that were the case. I think Rose literally gave up her consciousness, the controlling force over her gem, so that Steven could inhabit it instead. The only thing left of Rose might be very deep memories, or emotional imprints left within the Gem's lattice.
All fusions share some similarities bewteen the gems they're formed from but not really everything they are.
Opal seems to take her level headedness from Pearl and her attentiveness from Amethyst. They rarely form Opal because Amethyst is rarely attentive, usually only when she's really concerned or fixated (like when Steven is in danger, or she wants to prove herself).
Sugilite takes her badassness from Amethyst and strength from Garnet.
Sardonyx is as theatrical as Pearl and confident as Garnet.
Smoky Quartz is as playful as Steven and as resourceful as Amethyst.
Apparently, Garnet is so self-reliant that some of that always passes to her fussions. Sardonyx even made a quip about it.
I find weird that opal is the most levelheaded and has the most normal behaviours of the fusions (even including garnet), and that the garnet fusions have weird relationships with the remaining gem

Why all Garnet fusions are sort of dickish is weird, but I believe it has more to do with the fact that they're actually three gems trying to work together.

Yeah, I'm going to assume poofing is impossible. In Jail Break the disruptor technology (which was created to scramble/dissolve gem forms, according to some wiki article I read forever ago) seemed to just make him tingle. He's more organic than hard light, so I think poofing wouldn't work as it does with the gems.

IDK, I really think Sugar has it figured out. She doesn't post shit on her accounts and doesn't have to deal with drama cause no one can drag her into it.
Sugar is a well seasoned internet dweller, she also has a ton of stuff that could seriously damage her image if people started to fling it around, so she naturally just chose to avoid engaging fans.

Disagree, Amy is the most victimized gem of the team, her attitude and behavior comes from how she feels that the other gems don't consider her an equal, which you can see why she would feel like that, Garnet made that joke about "we kept Amethyst" and Pearl laughed her ass off, only for us to later find out that Amy feels inadequate (tiger millionare episode) and that pearl indeed didn't consider herself an equal (that Kindergarden episode with her back story), her real friends are humans and the only gem who ever treated her with respect was Rose. And now even Peridot, Amy's biggest fan, brings up the fact that she's faulty all the time.
Can you blame her for how she behaves?
Also, nothing is as monstrous in the context of the series as Pearl tricking Garnet into fusing with her for her perverse pleasure.

Then once Olicity became a thing it nosedived into a soap opera.
Flash was pretty good as well, though it's been suffering as of late by making people act stupid and ... yeah it's the CW

The fusions generally have the best and worst traits of their respective gems. I'm curious with how Ruby and Sapphire's personalities influence both Sardonyx & Sugilite, though.

Luckily, despite the fandom being quite trigger happy against "underage shipping" (read: shipping steven with somebody they don't like), they are mostly pretending it didn't happen (because believe me, everybody knows), while most of the internet doesn't give a shit she did because, you know, "there is porn of it, no exceptions".

Apparently (as i learned in this very thread) there seems to be a character guideline for the writers that says Garnet can't ask questions.
In universe explanation could be that because of her future vision, she didn't want to interfere with what steven and amethyst had planned, but mostly it was a meta joke.
