Summer 2013 Anime |10th Dimensional OT| the first ignoble truth: all of life is anime

There's a difference between denying someone with a genetic disease or disability the right to reproduce completely and telling a perfectly healthy person not to have a baby with their sibling.
There's also a difference between denying a homosexual person the right to marry someone of the same sex and adopt a kid with them, and denying them the right to marry at all.

You love who you love, be it man or woman, sibling or childhood friend. In so far as it causes those around them no harm, why should we deny anyone the right to marry the person they love?

You may find it gross, but so what? I find the idea of two guys having sex pretty damn disgusting(no offense) but you know what? I still support gay marriage.

Yes, I am a fan of Kirino. Is that the end of your argument? I can change my avatar you know, would that allow us to have a proper discussion?
The difference being, of course, that gay sex never results in offspring, whreas incest can - there's no particular evolutionary deterrent to gay sex (because of course you can always sleep with someone of the opposite gender) unlike incest.
Uh, not being able to have kids is the strongest evolutionary deterrent there is, really. If evolution was straightforward, gay people would probably have died out by now.

I am no zoologist, but Wikipedia also suggests that many animals display an aversion to incestuous relationships, although I guess that can't be easy to measure in animals where we don't have some level of social understanding.
So...?

I think, essentially, once again you've reminded us that you're an only child :p
Does being an only child somehow relate to wanting to expand civil rights and create a more free, accepting, open society?

If so, I think I will have to convince my girlfriend that we only need one kid.

All I mentioned was the reproduction issue. I'm not going anywhere near Incest is the New Homosexuality.

Way too much drama about something that rarely happens in the real world, the nature has pretty effective mechanism against it.

And after all people should do whatever they want with their own body. And eugenics... I don't know.

But both issues are civil rights questions. From a logical standpoint, we should not allow people with genetic diseases to have kids, because it is likely too transfer to them. However, we as a society have decided that denying those people the right to reproduce is inhumane. Why is incest so different?

What the hell is going on here? Is it time to back away slowly and not make eye contact?

I'll bite, disabled person can't reproduce period in that scenario. In the incest example he just can't reproduce with his/her sistersibling but can choose any other suitable partner.

True - a stupid point for me to try and make.

I wonder why the incest taboo has lasted for so long, then, while the homosexuality taboo has faded in and out of fashion over millennia?

Merely pointing out that an aversion to incest isn't purely down to a human cultural taboo, which cnet was implying.

Does being an only child somehow relate to wanting to expand civil rights and create a more free, accepting, open society?

No, it refers to cnet's fondness for incestual relationships in anime because he has a fantasy about little sisters that doesn't really reflect the reality of sibling relationships, as he himself has admitted. Not making a general point, but a specific one - nothing to do with society in general.

I (and Theonik) just pointed out the difference. I didn't pass moral judgment, I simply pointed out the differences between the situations.

Which is why I brought up the homosexual example. Gay people have always been allowed to marry anyone they like, as long as they're of the opposite gender, and reproduce with them, so what is the problem?

Culture. In some cultures, incest has been fairly normal.

Merely pointing out that an aversion to incest isn't purely down to a human cultural taboo, which cnet was implying.
I would disagree.

Fair enough. I would like to carry on with the discussion, but it seems that will not be allowed.

Ok.
Go to #incest or something if you guys want to talk about it so much. Gross.
As sad as I find that attitude, and as little as it makes sense in an anime board, the mods' word is law. I will shut up.

Apocalypse Zero 1-2

Meh, I guess I was expecting something more outrageous than this. It started off with great potential and some of the imagery is... interesting, to say the least, but I wasn't a fan of how stitched together and incomplete the ending felt. As it stands this one barely qualifies as list material. Either that or I've become more desensitized to this sort of stuff over time which is a bit more worrisome, admittedly.

Maybe I oughta just bite the bullet and tackle Eiken next.

It was pretty fucked up but I agree it didnt truly shock or apall me. Which is kinda scary.

I don't know if there's any other long show worth watching... except maybe the new HxH whenever I bother with it, but I guess that and Ojamajo Doremi can be the last for a while (maybe forever).

Yakitate! Japan. Watch ittttttt!

Mushibugyo 20

Too much genjutsu and ninjutsu and the way the attacks were done reminded me way too much of Naruto. Thankfully it only lasted one episode.
surprised they dont know the identity of the princess or her goal to regain her power

I don't know that I can bring myself to watch any regular anime right now, because I know none of it will be as fucked up as what I watched last night. It's like when you hear about those people who can't get off to regular sex because of all the crazy porn they've seen.

I'll ease myself into it by hatewatching the most recent episode of Attack on Titan, I guess. Can't wait for 24 solid minutes of people doing nothing at all!

Watch Arjuna! *bounces

I'm still trying to get used to my new watching schedule. Used to watching stuff on my laptop at nights, now watching on my Desktop during the day. Hurray for dual-monitor multitasking!

Also, I'm going to be "silently" watching some shows now, like Revolutionary Girl Utena and C³-bu, so don't expect posts on those from me unless something big happens.

Watching without posting impressions every episode is the easiest and most efficient way to marathon things. Posting breaks up the flow and ruins the pacing.

If you want a show that has a protagonist that's really fun to hate, I'd recommend Death Note if you haven't seen it before. It's not as screwed up as School Days, but it is a hell of a lot more enjoyable.

Yeah this is a solid option Corvy Kun. Its honestly a pretty fun show.

The first day of classes at my school is actually tomorrow, but I structured my schedule so that my classes run Tuesday-Friday this semester instead of Monday-Thursday, so I can stay home all day on Sunday watching football. I had to miss a few Bucs games last year cause I'd have to go back mid-Sunday and they'd be playing at 4.

I know that feel. Except work has some large flatscreen TVs on the wall so I dont have to miss games while at work :D

So I guess this opened up a couple hours ago:

http://www.space-dandy.com/

Not much there right now besides the plot overview and staff though.

YES. FABULOUS.

So from what I'm getting after reading everyone's thoughts on Oriemo's ending is that they
went the brother/sister lovers route
. I've only seen about 4 episodes of this show but is that
really that bad of a thing?
Did people not like the little sister or something, don't like that it's incest, did the main character deserve more, or was it just a stupid ending?

I'm not planning on picking up the show again after me and my friend dropped it a while ago, but I might need some explanation on the backlash for the ending out of curiosity.

Correct. I do not like the little sister. At all. I find her to be a horrible character and not even cute.

Smile Precure 30

So the Precure finally realize that they have the ability to pretty much go wherever the hell they want, in the entire world, and that that's rad as shit and why haven't they been doing that this whole time? So they go lots of places.

I'd probably stay away from the Amazon. It has piranhas and alligators. Not to mention the little tiny parasitic fish that could lodge itself in your dick if you piss in the river. Plus it's really not an ideal place to fight. They lucked out that Candy could make them into mermaids from Akanbe's belly.

Lol youre talking about the candiru. I love how you describe things sometimes.

Oreimo is not even the same kind of show. There aren't really any ground to compare them on.

Just because they're different types of shows doesn't mean there aren't similar elements to both. The rejection/confession/confrontation scenes are such shit in OreImo. The reason I compared the two is that both want to be taken seriously to a degree, the problem is that the writing and direction in OreImo can't keep up with that ambition compared to Toradora.

You guys are a bunch of fucking masochists :p

Well that goes without saying!

I don't think you have to be in the water since the piss is enough to connect you to nature more than you'd want.

And silly. Girls don't pee.

EDIT: Not doing Tokyo Mew Mew in 2 weeks. Not interesting enough to do that. It's fine at 1 ep a night.

For me Tokyo Mew Mew was adorable and it had a magical catgirl in it. that was enough.

At which point you will promptly decide that you must know, first hand, if it is as bad as everyone says. You tell yourself it cannot be.

But it always is.

Hilariously and depressingly true.

hTqVuzV.jpg

AnimeGAF in one picture.

Also hilariously and depressingly true.

Hmmm. Looks a bit interesting.

Heres the story apparently:

sister each other a close friend, a close friend and brother to each other -. Look is pretty stylish, but in fact geek, I love college students, that his new book Chico. In a little foolish but bright and breezy, favorite high school students, that his new book Chika. Fun to be with, but somehow a little disappointing? Such new book brother and sister very similar. It looks be popular with a beautiful woman with neatness, but part-time worker mysterious aura fully open, Saito Mako. And to be popular in the cool quiet, high school students strange system, Mao Saito, after all. It is healed and being together, but I do not know what you're thinking? Such Saito sister brother very similar. While engaged in a conversation too much freedom every day, brother and sister of two sets of strange little, running across the positive brighten the youth a lot of trouble. This story is an ultra everyday youth comedy animation such siblings we can give. ... Maybe.

I don't know about the books or the games or whatever, I've only watched the anime, but the whole thing came off very innocently to me. The Oreimo anime didn't feel like it was really about a sister wanting to fuck her brother, it seemed more like a innoncent child looking up to her big brother, and being so innocent that she would want to marry him WITHOUT understanding the consequences of what that actually means in life.

To me it seemed like a little girl wanting to place house with her brother, maybe she was into it a little too much, but the thought of sex wasent even something she could grasp in those early years.

Even in the scene where
they are in the hotel playing that Christmas eroge, when the sex scene comes up she becomes very uncomfortable and distraught.

I understand why people are so terrified of this anime, but I don't really think it's about a sexual relationship at all. It's just about a girl wanting a childhood fantasy to come true, and a brother who cares about his sister enough to play along.

I guess that's why I enjoyed it, it's a very non-traditional story with very unique characters, I've certainly never seen anything like it before. And while I can see why people think it's about sex, and maybe it even jokes around with the idea, i don't think it's really about that.

I don't mind OreImo S2 for the incest, or that
Kirino won
. I just think the show reached for that conclusion in an amazingly stupid way. Very annoying.

Not to mention
last second backtrack
. If you are doing
incest ending at least go to end with it then. Now it had fucking no ending.
Ending was one huge troll.

cnet and Sephiroth only need 3 more members for their Incest Appreciation Club to be officially recognised. You guys can have the old Literary Club room.
Are you the student concil president ???

That's also my problem.. the problem is how they reached this point and how everything was handled. i knew my favorite wasn't gonna win but ...the way things handled was poor at best.
Yet another reason , why the psp storylines are better ( and you can tell those were the writter idea, he probably felt too much pressure to do it all the way )

Oh he wanted to do it that way, the
last backtrack was probably something that he was forced to do.

Monogatari 7-

talk,talk,talk,talk,talk

I don't mind a lot of dialogue but this was too much. Premise should be interesting and I wonder if the outcome is going to be an older Snail in the present. I would love to see what an 18 year old Snail looks like.

Aren't they
11 years in the past ?
i thought the point was to see mayoi "before" the events leading to ...you know

She got to live out a childhood dream of winning her brothers affection, seems like a ending to me.

Well I think there would have been way better ways to reach that kind of ending.
Couple months of incest relationship while destroying your relations to some of your friends and then backtracking to ''normal'' siblings
is pretty bad way to do it.

Yeah. Probably something like that. Still doesn't make the ending any better.

Monogatari talk makes me wonder why I'm being weird and waiting for it on crunchyroll, who are up to episode 2. Am I that used to my hobbies receiving things late in the UK?

Are you the student concil president ???

It happened to coincide with my hobby of squashing the dreams of young people, only to later give them my full support and admit I was acting as an obstacle for personal reasons.

In-bu needs to be an actual anime. I have the draft made in my head and everything.

You have to wonder how paintball was approved with options like that still on the table.

All the In-bu club members are single children... until our protagonist discovers he has a long-lost sister.

With the help of his club, can he make his dreams come true?

Someone give me the lowdown on Devil Fruit powers. This goddamn combo guy is spewing crap about zone-types and I have no idea what he's talking about

oreimo 14-15

was gonna finish it, but felt really tired and went to bed.

show did get me thinking... if I was in a cartoon harem scenario and was gonna confess... the best scenario would be to confess to the one you want FIRST, before everyone else does that to you.

in that case, if you get rejected you got other waifus. if they come to you first, tell them that you needa think it over.

also, in this day and age, is there reaaally a reason to marry someone right out of highschool unless you accidentally or not filled her up good, and shotgun daddy is after you?

Zoan types I guess? Zoan is one of the three Devil Fruit types. This type of fruit allows the user to transform into another species and inter-species hybrid forms at will. Inanimate objects, animals, and mythical beasts, etc.

Moretsu Pirates/Bodacious Space Pirates Episode 10: I take it back, with the animation budget this show must have had, you could buy the entirety of the Low Countries. Also, who knew Space Pirates followed child labor laws so intently? How do they keep track of that, who do they give that data to, and what are the penalties of going over the hourly limit? Anyway, we find the crew of the Bentenmaru adventuring in one of those stormy ocean nebula on loan from the Star Trek franchise as they continue to hunt down the mythical goal ship while surrounded by an unknown rival from the Serenity system, the race is on and the prize in near. Indeed, one thing I have liked throughout the show is they show why Marika Kato is talented enough to be the captain, yet somehow they have not overdone it yet; veering into God Mary Sue territory.

Well they mention paradoxes so I'm wondering if their actions can cause a new timeline. One where Snail grows up normally.
That would defeat the purpose of the character and make her disapear for good.

i'm ok with this.

Well I think there would have been way better ways to reach that kind of ending.

Well i think the writter made the written ending vague on purpose and left to the reader interpretation
whenever they reverted for real or if they reverted only in appearances since kirino is still getting life conselling sessions
. the second situation make more sense to me( because of all the shit that happenned ). BUT the anime went for the first situation and despite his suggestion, he couldn't change that( in the anime )

It happened to coincide with my hobby of squashing the dreams of young people, only to later give them my full support and admit I was acting as an obstacle for personal reasons.

i have a friend that is just like you

devil fruits in a nutshell.

who the fuck cares, haki > all devil fruits because oda just makes new systems on the fly.

you know... dbz might be the only endless shounen that i can think of off the top of my head that kept combat pretty consistent since day 1 for better or worse.
