Super Best Friends |OT19| Three-Fifths of a Thread

So like, Youtube recommended me a Yakuza 1 video likely based on viewing their LP. And holy hell, the English dubbing is among the worst I've ever seen. Like an unacceptable level of awful.

Edit: whoops, didn't realize I had last post prior this one.

Fun fact: the guy responsible for the Yakuzie 1 dub also worked on the dubs for Final Fantasy X, XIII, and XV.

Something I really hate about Twitch is either you're unable to or I can't figure out how to watch streams that are currently in progress from the start. Like, I want to start watching the podcast now but I can't because they're still streaming and I have no way to start from the beginning.

Edit: No Matt? Again...

Nugget is a good manager early on, but Pat doesn't really have much use for it now.

Still worth getting for that scene alone.

I've been rewatching Mystery Boxes on a lark (they need to do some again) and man I forgot how salty Woolie was in Animorphs. Holy Shit.

All caught up on L.A. Noire. That LP continues to be strong.
Yeah, it's way stronger than Night in the Woods, IMO.

Yeah, they had a good variety when Matt was out, but now they're stuck in the same rut they were before Matt's long vacay and Liam left, just with one less LP. I'd appreciate a few more oneshots, even if they're weekend only or something.

That said, I would be totally okay with a constant 3 LP rotation if one of them was a Star Trek LP (seriously, Matt and Pat need to play the fucking Generations game).

I'd be so down for a Pat rants about Janeway for hours game. And this coming from a Voyager fan!

HAHAHAHAHA, I knew the Switch thing wasn't going to happen, but still, Pat's going to be pissed.

Somewhat related to the zaibatsu, apparently Plague's got a new LP coming.

I absolutely love his Dark Souls LP, so I can't wait.

Will they do something special or maybe bring back Senpai
Not even that but Matt is gone even. Truly promising nothing and delivering less

Man, Matt sounds pretty bored in Yakuza 0 today. And why does he like that telephone club thing so much? I mean yeah its a good laugh but its nothing new at this point.

They're streaming DS3 right now.

And Woolie just dropped an interesting lore nugget.

His brother was a stand-in for Eddie Murphy in the movie Pluto Nash.

Holy shit. I mean its just basically being a placeholder for lighting and stuff but still! Woolie is connected to that horrible movie!

Yakuza is a wacky series I tells you hwat

Either he's bored of the story or he keeps clinging to forced lp funsies. Getting pretty annoying at this point, like the child porn joke keeps bringing up.

Are you saying that you expected more than nothing? Because I may have to remind you of their motto. Also what's wrong with Child Porn?!?!
I hope saying that has no repercussions in the future

They should just take a break from Yakuza tbh. It's clear they barely have any interest in the story, especially Matt (who sounds like he doesn't want to be there at all). It's especially frustrating when they are constantly confused about the thing they aren't paying attention to.

Even the Giant Bomb crew has kept up a lot better than Matt and Pat, and they have three people sitting in, as well as only recording once a week.

Wow it's like I'm listening to the words of Cole Phelps, decorated officer and noted member of NAMBLA.

Honestly, I think the switching between protagonists and sheer amount of pointless obfuscation in the main plot is just wearing them down. They're doing at least two hour recording sessions however many days a week with this game, not counting Pat dumping however many hours into the minigames/sidequests offscreen, and the plot progression is just shit and some of the twists are predictable. I don't even remember however many episodes ago they called Makoto being the one who somehow owns the Empty Lot, but the fucking story didn't get around to acknowledging that until like two or three episodes ago.

I'm not sure that they wouldn't be burning out if they'd ignored literally all the side stuff and burned through the critical path, just because of how fucking drawn out the plot is.

The only issue I'm having with the Yakuza LP is that they keep fighting Mr. Shakedown and we really don't need to see it 10 times. They skip the fights against the different billionaires/kings which would actually present something different... but then show Shakedown again and again.

Is it safe to say Matt doesn't care anymore? Always on vacation, half ass-ing his commentary (he currently isn't even playing an LP, making it inexcusable), and can't even pay attention to watching someone else play a game.

Since Billy is now the main editor of the videos, what's Matt's excuse. I hate bashing Matt all the time (he was my favorite long, LONG ago), but he's lagging behind.

I think Matt doesn't have the "endurance" to handle LPs where he's not on the controls or part of a 3 man group, because he doesn't have the same reservoir of crazy/funny shit to say like Pat and Woolie do. I bet you he's trying to workshop jokes in his head throughout each session and that's why he repeats jokes past the point where they're funny and doesn't seem to be paying attention.

I'm listening to episode 200 of the podcast right now and... I don't think I can't stand these 2 live man shows any more. It's doesn't have the energy of the 4 man pre-recorded shows. Matt is absent way too much. The lack of Liam reduces the amount of energy that came with the news and games discussion too. The technical issues of the show being streamed get in the way as well.

I might just start skipping the Friendcast. It's not what it used to be.

One disappointment with Yakuza 0 (not the LP, the game) is that when I heard that Majima was one of the main characters, I expected the more wild Majima from later games. Didn't realize he'd be so...normal back then.

Nishitani is so much what I wanted him to be.

You gotta look at this as Majima's origin story. This is what made him into the crazy person we love.
