SAGINAW, Texas -
A North Texas teenager armed with a huge cross and a good pair of shoes has accomplished his goal to walk across the country and raise awareness about God.
Junior Garcia began his journey from Saginaw to Washington D.C. about a month ago. It culminated Friday morning with a prayer service near the White House.
His support system from Oasis Church International joined in via Skype as he prayed.
"Can't wait to get back home to all of you at the Oasis Church and I just wanna share this with y'all," he said. "It's just been a blessing. I thank you all for supporting me and standing by me. Just join us as we pray for our nation and our leaders."
Those at the church sanctuary in Saginaw said they were fueled by the teenager's incredible mission that started as a mere idea.
"Knowing we're right here and they're there, it's all God's presence. It's so emotional and it's great. I just hope the nation heard," said Donna Moore.
"It's not for political gain. It's for no other gain. He recognizes the moral decay in this country and what he wants to do is bring the attention back to the cross which is a message of love," said Pastor Randy Lemme from the Oasis Church.
