I don't see what's confusing. I'm just saying it's a fair question to ask of people who seem to be extremely invested in something, when the reasons for that investment seem unclear.
I mean, like what you like, I just don't think it's unreasonable to ask.
If I was forced to guess, I'd say that Pop-GAF likes getting caught up in the pageantry of these singers' images, and (much like My Little Pony GAF), it is probably less about the individual singers, and indeed pop music as a whole, and more about the agency of groups to decide what is and isn't important to them.
