XCOM, in development since 2006, was unveiled as a first-person shooter in June 2010 and since then it has been repeatedly delayed and changed. In April 2013, the game was rebranded as The Bureau: XCOM Declassified.

There's a strong filter overlaid that mutes all the colours and is supposed to (I guess) evoke the colour scheme we're used to from photos and videos taken in the 60s and 70s. Think Instagram. (yuck)Visually the game looks oddly washed out. The time period immediately reminds me of Mafia 2 that went for a similar cartoony early 60's vibe but looked much more vibrant.

Right now thought, it's clear that this is very much the XCOM you love and know taken from a different perspective - and that should be more than enough to abate any residual fears.
