Roy Moore, Alabama's Republican nominee for the U.S. Senate, said NFL players who kneel during the national anthem are breaking the law.

“It's against the law, you know that?” Moore said in an interview with Time magazine. “It was an act of Congress that every man stand and put their hand over their heart. That's the law.”

Moore, a former chief justice of Alabama who was twice suspended from the bench for defying judicial orders, argued that a section of the U.S. Code — 36-USC-301 — forbids professional athletes from taking a knee during the national anthem.

The section does not specify legal penalties.

Moore did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

And this guy will most likely become a fucking senator. I think until Trump and his goons are gone I'm kneeling during the anthem.

Plinko

Wildcard berths that can't beat teams without a winning record should have homefield advantage
all other persons present should face the flag and stand at attention with their right hand over the heart

Bolded emphasis mine.

Moore is wrong. This is not a requirement.

It's a code of conduct for national observances not a breakable law. By his logic it would also be against the law to not observe Martin Luther King Day. Someone ask him his opinion on that.

Sure wish this was in a blue state. But since its in a red one, he probably will win.

Do we not remember in a red state when a candidate for senate attacked a reporter and still won the seat?

Why are you stocking up on so many reprehensible shitbags in your politics, America?
Palin was the snowball rolling down the hill. It ended up becoming a Trump avalanche bringing in all the remaining crazies.

To be fair that happened like a day before the election when a ton of early votes had already been cast. It was in Montana iirc. Also, Gianforte was running for the house, not the senate.

Electing Trump brought all the crazies out of the woodwork.
I think it would be more accurate to say that the Mercers are bringing all of the crazies out of the woodwork since they appear to be the ones backing Moore just as they did Bannon/Breitbart, Milo, Trump, etc.

It's time that we come up with a menacing official designation to use for them online. )))MERCERS((( maybe?

If that's the case couldn't we just paralyze this dude into pledging all day by playing the national anthem on a loop outside his office?

And the law he is talking about said people should stand for the flag/anthem. Keyword is "should", not that its breaking a law.

Is this the same kind of illegal where you tell state judges not to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couple in direct defiance of the Supreme Court?
