At Pocket Gamer, we do a weekly feature where we detail the big games of next week. So out on Feb 29 are:
http://www.pocketgamer.co.uk/r/Multiformat/Out+Next+Week/feature.asp?c=38230
Waking Mars
Adventure Bar Story
AaaaaAAaaaAAAaaAAAAaAAAAA!!! (Force = Mass x Acceleration)
Prince of Persia Classic
And maybe, Kids vs. Goblins
Ziggurat has usurped Super Crate Box as my go-to quick score-chaser game.
I usually conk out at around 120 alien freaks. 204 is my highest--anyone know if the alien ships can be destroyed?
Do I have you on GC? I'm not sure cause some people are just using their actual name. I'm still trying to beat Robert Ashley's score. He's number one on my leaderboards of 7 people. My score is 208 currently. Game is tough as nails.
@ Cjelly - you're probably thinking of Reckless Getaway. Awesome game
My game center friends list is at 0 lol
Same. I think the game gets crazier if you shoot one of the ships. I don't even think its worth it, cause the lightning starts cracking it's really hard to make out what the hell is going on, on top of the increased enemy count. And if you go into stats there's a field for # of alien ships destroyed. Apparently the game has an end as well? I wonder if anyone will even see it given how insanely difficult it is
Anyway, I had the pleasure of playing Epic Astro Story Lite on my brother's Android and man, I can't wait for this to hit the App Store. It just might be the best Kairo Soft game.
Really enjoying Reckless Racing 2. Which is surprising considering I didn't like the first one.
I like how you have to master the art of drifting to win. Almost feels like a top down Ridge Racer.
Speaking of which, I wish Scamco would release a proper Ridge Racer on the AppStore.
I've never really liked top-down racers. Convince me why I should try RR2!
Goatup is pretty fun, but if you haven't already, check out Gridrunner, it just came out and its a great little shooter.
Gridrunner is awesome. Best Llamasoft game yet.
Never mind how you can have two completely different games going at once just by switching from landscape to portrait.Yeah man, it's blowing my mind. So many insane subtleties, I haven't even figured out how to get specific powerups or anything, it's just every level is a clusterfuck cascade of awesome if you play it right. It becomes about just chaining powerups and decimating the board in seconds rather than just pure shooting.
Very cool stuff. I love how Minter includes all these great unexplained nuances into his games, it makes getting deep into them much more rewarding and it reminds me of being a kid and figuring these arcane arcade games out through context and trial and error.
Adventure Bar Story is getting delayed though
In gridrunner, I understand how to "unlock" c64, but what about casual and vic?

Kids vs Goblins Soundtrack is now available
Iphone 4S screenshots:
The game is done. And will be released on Ipad 2 & Iphone 4S only at launch. We're waiting until we're through apple's review process before we reveal the release date.
Anyone tried this?
I love you. That game was such hot shit, absolutely loved it. I don't recall it being emulated properly so I had to resort to the Great 1000 or whatever it was called... unless that was just in older versions, I dunno.Reckless Racing 2 is pretty cool but just makes me want a sequel to World Rally (omg, apparently the developers give out the arcade rom for free!). Loved the night stages. Real Racing 2 remains the best racer on iOS imo.
Yeah, I think I'm just thinking of the "portable" versions that were done for different console platforms. I rarely MAME it up on PC. Maybe i should though! If there's a way to get a DFGT FFB wheel feeling as loose as the arcade of World Rally, it might just be worthwhile! There are some pretty good vids of it on youtube (yay, game is speedy) so I imagine MAME improved on its emulation.
Did it come out?
I would KILL for a port of Tempest 2000, complete with music. You'd have to think that it'd be quite workable on iOS. Only problem (obviously) being the license for Tempest (which I'm guessing Atari still owns).I'm really liking Reckless Racing 2 but GODDAMN, Gridrunner is the best game, regardless of platform, that I've played in awhile. My favorite Jeff Minter game alongside Tempest 2000 and Gridrunner++. I'm also number 1 in the leaderboards right now for Pure and Casual.

Space Giraffe Temptest-like for ya? There hasn't been any kind of announcement but given that he owns the entire IP, it's not out of the realms of possibility it'll make an appearance on iOS. I could never really get into it, though... I should give it another shot.I would just love to have some kind of new Tempest-like Jeff Minter iOS game, which I have to imagine is going to happen sometime in the near future.
