The next Predator movie is titled 'Skull'

When I see shit like this:

"It goes back to what made the original Predator movie work. It's the ingenuity of a human being who won't give up, who's able to observe and interpret, basically being able to beat a stronger, more powerful, well-armed force,"

I'm immediately put off. What made the original work is that the audience was just as much in the dark as the characters in the movie in terms of what the fuck was going on. That sense of wonder and excitement is long gone with a shitton of shitty movies. Predator isn't a mystery anymore. We all know what it is and what it's capable of.

I never said they are great films, I'm simply comparing in terms of PG13 and R. The rating doesn't make the movie if you have a competent director and script.

*EDIT*
And I agree with @Rat Rage, the original film isn't that gory, it's M15 in Australia, kiddies could watch it at the cinemas.
Let's examine this further. You admit to the pg 13 film still being bad. Can you give an example of a good pg 13 film that's a sequel to an r rated one? Will this be the first somehow?

There are no examples where a PG13 film is just as good as the R rated movie before it. I personally really liked what Dan Trachtenberg did with Cloverfield Lane though and I have a feeling he'll pull it off even if it is PG13.

Ultimately the rating doesn't matter. I mean, yes, a Predator movie should be an R rated affair. But having an R rating movie doesn't mean it will be better.
Look at the AvP films, neither are great no, but the first AvP is a better film than AvP2 even though it's PG13.

The newest Predator film being R rated didn't make it any better either.

It gave the ability for the predator to be savage, which is exactly what it is (In my eyes)

What would you rather a terminator ripping out someone's heart or a terminator saying talk to hand?

I'll take old skool terminator/predator, and all their savagery

Pg13 predator, is like watching a porno for the story

Let's not forget with a pg 13 rating your use of language is also diminished. "Your one ugly mother fucker" is a iconic line from the original that you simply couldn't do in pg 13.

It says origin story of the "Predator's" first journey to the planet. So this movie is either a reboot or it's taking place before 1718. That's when the Predator from part 2 helped Raphael Andolini defend his code of honor, and got that flintlock pistol.

That is correct, trying to recreate that will never work for audiences in the know

"Davis was wise enough to acknowledge how perfect the original Predator movie is, as he even said "it's going to be, I believe, the second best -- or the first... or it may be equal to the first one. Right? I feel like the first one was a wonderful, interesting movie and I know what worked about it. I feel like we kind of never got back there again. We ended up in different places. I think this is a worthy complement to the first one. It's going to be as good."

"...the film will follow Kee, a member of the Comanche tribe "who goes against gender norms and traditions to become a warrior."

Forgive me if I have my doubts.

I think a huge part of what made Predator work was the cast they had was phenomenal at the time and was absolutely on point.

They took a bunch of established action movie heroes and actors that looked like they can kick ass in a war/action movie and threw them into a horror movie, where they were the victims.

Prime Arnold was not a great actor, but he was unrivaled by his presence on screen. Dude was literally an on screen god - you could not take your eyes off screen whenever he was on.

So its mulan vs predator

How can anyone think this is a good idea for a film, and then to say it'll be better than the original.....

And now we have 100lb female taking out a 300lb+ alien, and over come her warrior tradition and no doubt become the hero of the tribe, without the need for a man to help her
