Any cooking guides floating around out there? I'm just kind of doing cooking at random right now and have no real desire to grind out master level of everything for everyone.

I joined for Erin Brockovich discussion
Traded in Madden, and bought this. 3 or 4 hours in, so far I'm liking it. Haven't gotten into the meat of the game, I'm sure.

:( Still no freaking game from playasia. Hope it hasn't got stuck in customs. I don't mind paying the customs, just that it takes a month there before you even get to know your package is there :/

Ugh. None of the tips for Secret Mission 17 are working. Yuri's LV43. Six Destruction Fields aren't breaking the guard. I broke it luckily but Raven just ran out of TP and he didn't fire it off when I pressed up on my right stick. This mission is seems impossible. I don't even have Rita active for the second part of the fight. She's on defend. The boss is incredibly easy but the secret mission is horrible.

I fear this secret mission(currently up to 13 right now), have read so many nightmare stories about it. The official guide recommends just having everyone attack the boss while you control Raven and spam Rain in OL 3-4. Hopefully between all that you'll guard break and Ravem will land an arrow during the downperiod...if not, use as many limit bottles as necessary to keep him in OL mode and spamming Rain until it does happen.

Lame. But update if you find a suitable strategy, I'll be there soon enough myself.

Apparently you only need to max out one character for the cooking titles. You do need to have a few characters learn recipes by taking on certain dishes up to 2-3 stars though, but gamefaqs and/or xbox360achievements.org should have the recipes listed.

Not that bad really once you figure it out. And what difficulty are you on? It's like 12 on hard >_< Also, you're doing it during OL right? Maybe you're not dealing enough damage.

Yeah I'm doing it in overlimit. Normal mode. I might try the Raven thing. I have about 12 limit bottles. Probably won't get a chance to try again until Wednesday though :(

Man, we're just at Secret Mission 17 or so (Ice ice baby...), and we're level 60.

Can anyone say "Wee bit too powerful?".

And then we fought Brutal.

That was... well... brutal.

Just checked Nam Cobanda isle, I have 7111 grade. Looks like I won't have to do any rita spamming... but now I dunno what I'll spend it on, I don't really need that much. Does unspent grade carry over to my second playthrough?

edit: I dunno, how hard is unknown? Do you need grade shop bonuses to get through it?

I think, but I'm not sure, that after your second playthrough you'll have first playthrough grade PLUS second playthrough grade -- it accumulates regardless of what you spent.

I'm nearing 60 with everyone close to Secret Mission 15. I purposefully turn everyone in the active party with Quarter-damage skills just so I don't kill everything in 2 seconds and can land several FS's for grade bonuses. Definately over-powered.

Don't worry you still have a ways to go.

Wait, so if you have, say, 3000 Grade on the first playthrough and get 5000 the next it'll give you 8000 the third time? If so, that's great. That way you can rebuy stuff without having to farm for grade anymore. Oh, and if you buy Unknown, does it just add it to the difficulty list or will it force that mode on for the playthrough you buy it on?

You are almost 2/3s of the way through.

Question about the "button combination to activate" skills:

Does the cpu still use these skills while its controlling the other characters, or are these only useful when other players are controlling the rest of the party? Same for skills that add benefits to those button combination skills.

The computer uses repeating backstep with Yuri a lot. Always jumps from one side of thefield to the other at lease once in longer battles.

Yeah so Repede is fucking broken. Once you knock down any boss, you can just spam his dashing thunder Altered Arte until the boss dies or you run out of TP and all TP restoring items. It only costs 8 TP a pop too.

I'm stuck at what I assume is the optional part of the final dungeon:

I did the ladders around the crystal part #1 -> orange room -> crystal part #2 -> get to the 2 green switches (1 drops guy, 1 makes stairs down to the middle in the orange room).

The problem is...from here I don't know how to get to the location where the stairs just appeared. It's out of reach at the ladder part and I swear I've been up and down all the ladders and shot everything I can shoot. :(

You've just missed something. That place is EVIL. Just make sure you've absolutely gone up and down every single ladder and shot all the little platforms.

Also... detailed advice for (dun dun dun) Secret Mission 17 wanted. Allow me again to mention, DETAILED :p

It's one of those rare annoyances that utterly drains your will to play.

I dunno man, it's just not making sense. I've been here 30+ mins now going back and forth.

Here is the middle platform (with newly formed glowing stairs down) from the left side:

From the right side:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v297/bebpo/sept16_2008003.jpg

There doesn't seem to be anyway for me to get there. The gaps seem too wide for anything to drop and fill in. The only platform that's seemed pointless in this whole section is here:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v297/bebpo/sept16_2008001.jpg

There were no treasures or anything to shoot from that spot.

Yuri still doesn't have that skill that lets you press X to recover in midair after being hit. Is there somewhere I can get the weapon that teaches it to me? Combat would be so much more fluid if I had that.

You have to place the trap in the water where he goes to heal. I had to switch characters to do it.

Bebpo: If you still haven't gotten it,
those weird objects on the floor on the left/right sides actually form bridges of light. I think there were a couple things you were supposed to shoot in the orange room to make them appear. Or some room. Somewhere. Maybe they were just switches you were supposed to step on in one of the sections that looks like the first floor of the dungeon. I can't remember. :(

Firestorm: Just guessing, but if a weapon with Recover for Yuri doesn't show up in your synth list, then you probably skipped buying a weapon at an early shop that had it. Very likely if you were as broke as I was early on.

Apparently there's also a modified arte you can do with raven by holding teh botan for rain/rainsong.

It's on his second weapon. First weapon with skills. Buy it from Deidon Hold.

Edit: Pretty sure that's right. If not there, then it's in Halure. It's SUER early, is my point.

So does the EX dungeon open after you've done the final battle with
Duke
and load up your save? I've done almost everything I can do now in the end game and would like to finish the game already :lol

What the heck went on with this game's localization? The main dialogue and skits are first class (thank goodness), but what happened with everything else? A lot of the non-dialogue and menu text is really awkward and some of it just reeks of Engrish. It's like they threw in the first translation draft and didn't touch it up in some places...

tovengrish.jpg

There's also greater than average number of typos in non-voiced dialogue but it at least reads fine otherwise.

Speaking of weapon skills...I'm assuming to get Karolinian Hammer +1(or sword), you need to do that on a second playthrough...since you only get 1 starter weapon for Karol and have to make the choice between synthing on or the other each playthrough?

You make the +1, and then make the sword from that. Yes, you can do Hammer -> Sword, but the "correct" paths is Hammer -> +1 -> Sword, or so I'm told.

...
Yeah, I did the sword straight away.

FRAK!!!! I sat there for like 5 minutes comparing skills and crap thinking I could only get one. Went with sword, had no idea +1 would have worked. Sucks because I really want Karol to have the damage reduction skills too.

Oh well, I'll have to snag that item completion achievement on the second playthrough anyway. I'm sure it's not the only thing I missed.

You need to trigger it earlier on.

Before you go to Zaude you needed to head over to Phaeroh's Crag and go into the warp to Yormgen, if you missed that then you have to get it next play.

I can't even see your pictures from work, but it sounds like you're stuck in the same place I was. In the red room (the area connected to the crystal place, with the monsters in jars) there's a pair of switches on the floor on the left and right sides that extend the bridges you're looking for.

You probably can if you go before finishing up part 2; Kouli's guide says it's not even available until after SM 16.

Already taken care of.
Apparently you have to go back to Yormgen via Pharaoh's Crag after finishing the game so the elder can give you a book then go back to Dahngrest for a scene to trigger which unveils the EX Dungeon.

Thanks for the help. Now I can take pleasure in finishing the game.
