No Chloe mention.

Her appearance would lead to the game's downgrade.

I hope this game doesn't have TLoU style feels. All the gameplay stuff sounds awesome, but the brother not being good enough stuff has me worried. Hopefully the humor outweighs this type of stuff.

Sounds neat. I'm skeptical of the "no golden path" thing since so many other games have claimed to do this with little effect, but I'd imagine it's more on a smaller, scene-based scale rather than over-arcing pathways throughout the game or level.

All of the story bits sounds ultra generic, but okay I'll bite. What we've seen so far looked good and I trust ND To make a good game. Now, if his bother is supposed to be some sort of companion couldn't we have had coop as well? :)

There's been AI controlled companions during every game until now.

"Sam is even more reckless than Drake"

.....dear god.

lol is that even possible, I think the one thing that excites me the most is that they seemed to have learned a lot from the last of us. This game looks like you can be way more stealthy than your average uncharted game. In past games even the stealthy sections have gun fights because it seemed like a broken system. But naughty dog looks like they learned and included line of sight, if it is broken they will still look for you but have no idea where you are, This game gives it a big notch up for me because after playing the last of us I wanted that same stealth mechanic implemented in to an uncharted game.

EDIT: also Ellie had great AI and was a great accomplice on how she helped you, now that we have an adult that can help and carry their own weight a tad more I am excited to see what they pull off with Sam

Everyone thinks the brother will betray him.

Wouldn't be surprised if that's what ND wants people to think. And it's working.

urgh, didn't like Sam from the moment he was revealed.

- "The lack of Sam being in Nathan life for so long is what's driven him in the last games"
Yeah sure, the new Character was the most important all along.....

Looking forward to the game, but I hate when they add characters like this - at some point in 4 games, the fact he had a brother he felt indebted to should have come up, even in passing. It feels like a retcon -- but, I'll withhold judgement until the game comes out. Perhaps it will make more sense in context.

I wonder if the Game Informed guys questioned Naughty Dog about (Light spoilers for previous games, I guess)
a "supernatural" twist for UC4 and got no answer, or if they didn't ask about that at all.

I'm assuming there's going to be a "supernatural" twist, like in previous games.

And I'm using quotes for "supernatural" because we know it's never actually supernatural stuff.

Wut. It implies emotional issues with Drake. Nothing wrong with throwing it in this late.

That sounds like something that should have been touched upon in Uncharted 3, because that game dealt with Drake's childhood and motivations but apparently this game will go even further back into his life with this whole brother thing. Maybe Drake's parents too. He was orphaned around what, 10?
although I guess he wouldn't have been Drake back then ha

Who gives a shit about the story. It will be predictable yet amazingly voiced and acted just like every other Uncharted game and Indiana Jones film. The real highlights are not the boring story elements but the opening up of the gameplay and navigation options. I am sooo excited about this even more now. Only bloodborne comes close to hype levels for me now.

Side stories? In Uncharted?

Think of it like Ish from TLOU.

I'm going to take a guess. Rafe will get his hands on the treasure. Sam will kill Rafe, causing a rift between the brothers, with Nathan sticking with his brother. Nadine and her PMC, using this as a catalyst, decide that killing Drake is an acceptable crime. Justifiable villainy.

Right, and that should be addressed. I understand the compromise (it's better than to have a neverending escort mission with insta-fail states whenever Ellie was spotted), but hopefully since Sam can take care of himself this won't be an issue.

Also, if there are stealth sections in the game, then hopefully both the enemy AI and Sam's AI are improved to the point where Sam is smart enough to move from cover to cover (or to provide non-scripted distractions for you to sneak past guards).

Anyway, I'm not really concerned about this, I just hope this guys make it fun.

There is stealth in U4 and it's pretty significant like we've seen already in the PSX demo, I'm not sure it's possible to make Sam's AI reliable enough so enemies will be able to spot him, my bet is that it will be the same as in TLOU, not a big deal imo but i understand why some see it as immersion breaking, still prefers this option than being spotted because of AI fuck ups.

I really want these guys to improve the "sandbox" gameplay, the moment to moment gunplay. I think it's already good enough but the whole enemy-wave philosophy gets tiring after a while. I'd rather have areas with a bunch of enemies that are clearly visible and you can either bypass them or kill them all, but not get 20+ new guys after you kill the last one. It gets tiring after a while.

Anyway, never a doubt in my mind, I'm getting this day one.

Right, I know you can sneak past guys if you want to play it that way. I mean more like forced stealth sections (i.e. Uncharted 2's intro), which would result in a fail-state if you were spotted and didn't react quickly enough.

Still, I agree that the compromise (magically invisible AI) is better than the alternative (insta-fail because of stupid AI getting spotted).

Day one.

This info dump messes up my plans for a thread I had planned.... well sorta... :(

Drake's journal still has info not covered here.......LOTS.

I feel like Drake's Fortune is the only one with seriously annoying "waves" of enemies. U2 and U3 improved on that dramatically, and from the looks of the demo, we might be getting exactly what you're looking for in U4.
