Thanks for posting...One of the best thread types on Gaf.

Does the "ps3 ver. selling more trend' hold true for other gamestore staffers?

360: They just got in a fresh shipment of about 10 Premiums. They all had "Go Pro" on the front of the back, and Forza/MUA were unbundled (as expected). Wasn't able to check the lot #'s, but I'm sure that they're the most recent ones.
PS3: Had 3 80 GB's and 1 40 GB.
DS: Only had the new Cobalt DS's. Rest of the colors were sold out.

Besides, it's not like it's prime real-estate space being used up, chill.
Not for nothing, glad to read ABs OP, but these are easy predictions. I mean we;ve known of the lack of Wii's since it came out, 360s could have been predicted as its in its 2nd yr and MS probably thought sales would slow after Xmas and/or they rumour new 360 Sku and/or the rumour that old 360 being phased out and new ones coming in(Falcons) more often. PS3 could be said that it'll always be available.Sho_Nuff82 said:Why would people want these threads to go away, when the massive shortages reported by altered and others foreshadowed the January NPD so well?
Of course it did. "We got no Wiis. We got no 360s. PS3s are in stock, we sold 3."
I really cant wait for GDC. I believe all companies will have something explosive to announce.AlteredBeast said:There is something that I have wanted to say for quite a while, but didn't want to start a thread.
The way I see it, the PS3 will probably catch up to the 360 in America and will sell extremely well worldwide. Sony has been very aggressive at dropping the price of the PS3 and even before, with the PS2, did 100 dollar pricedrops when the time was right. They always seemed in control of everything. The PS3 was ridiculously expensive for a game console, but, with the next price drop, will be at the competitive level for selling systems.
PS3 has just about everything over the 360 besides price and Halo, which has already come out. Unless MS decides to get aggressive and attack, they will end up in 3rd place everywhere this generation. MS never knew how to manage a lead, and that is the real reason that in Europe the PS3 has caught up and even already outsold it in many countries. When Sony was seeing that the original XBox began selling well, they cut the price 100 dollars. When Microsoft saw that the PS3 and Wii began selling well, they waited and waited and then cut the price about 50 dollars (less on the Core SKU). Now, as the PS3 and Wii sell even better and the 360 is looking that much more the lame duck that it is, they still sit on their thumbs.
They need to make the Elite SKU 379, and the Premium SKU 279. Get rid of the Arcade SKU. it is worthless and everyone outside of clueless moms and very small children know that. The only pricepoint it could possibly sell very well at is 199, and, knowing MS, they won't do it.
GDC better be FULL of surprises, price cuts, package deals, and/or new huge exlcusives. Because, as far as I see it, the PS3 has plenty of exclusives and third party games on it to justify paying 50 dollars more than the Premium SKU. If Sony actually threw in hi-def cables, it would be an even sweeter deal. I would love to see someone argue that the 360 is really the better system for the average consumer right now.
I know this isn't exactly the place for it, but I just had to say it.

isn't that expected when you shift to a new ceo? kinda like how sony was in 06 when they booted kutaragi for i forgot his name... kaz hurai?AlteredBeast said:MS really has the most to gain right now out of some earth shattering GDC announcement. It is too bad that they seem so mismanaged right now.

WarLox said:we have 50 Elites coming in at the begining of the week. 16 Pros came in on Friday, with another 16 expected by Wednesday. The 16 were unloaded off the truck by 8pm, we had 6 left by 9:30. 2 of which were PRP exchanges from broken systems :lol . Our district just got 2600 Wiis in, but they are only sending each store 24 . We are out of 80g PS3s, and the 40g is selling "ok".
edit: also
We are competely out of Arcade and Halo units, but we still have the halo $129 edition from launch... lots of them. A small shippment of LO came in on Wednesday (25), and about 6 was quickly purchased by employees.
I honestly have absolutely no idea what you're trying to say, but my point was that these threads contain discussion about gaming and this forum is called Gaming Discussion. There are clearly people who don't like these anecdotal "musing" threads but that doesn't mean they have no place here1-D_FTW said:One of these days I'm gonna go trolling the off-topic forum and just post opposite remarks of this in every thread.
Occasionally I enter from the front page, see a sensationalist headline that was the last post in off-topic and click on it. From my brief time there, it seems 90 percent of the threads are of the humanity is circling the drain variety. The stuff that just makes you cringe and shake your head in disgust at neogaf. Nobody who posts on that side should be throwing stones. Now your comment was confusing, but if that's the gist, that's my comment. If not, it's still my comment. The worst of gaming-age still comes nowhere close to off-topic and it needs to be shouted from the rooftops.
And I like these posts, OP.
This is very interesting - does it mean that Wii shipment is normal again? or perhaps increased for the release of Brawl?WarLox said:Our district just got 2600 Wiis in, but they are only sending each store 24 .

AlteredBeast said:I literally attribute the DMC4 sales to the fact that 360 gamers seem to buy things en masse on the first month (or really the first week) and then ignore it and buy whatever else. The first exception was Gears of War, then Halo 3, and now Call of Duty 4. Dead Rising, Saint's Row, and Lost Planet all had big first months, then fell off the face of the earth as far as sales go.

Next week should be even better, as the 40GB PS3 has a $40 target gift card with the system at Target. and, even though there are over 105 40 GB PS3s in my district as we speak, I bet they get whittled down to 40 or 50 by the end of the week, thanks to the sale.
kassatsu said:PS3 - Sold out of 80GBs a long time ago. We sold out of 40GBs last week, and got 10 more in. In 2 days, we're now down to half that stock.
Big sellers for PS3 seem to be Devil May Cry 4, Turok, Uncharted and Call of Duty 4. It seems like PS3 interest has picked up dramatically.
True. Target B&M's have been blu-ray only for a while now.Hcoregamer00 said:Very interesting, I look forward to next week to see if this has come to pass.
It is clear to me that this is a move to target the more casual "blu ray" buyers, who intend to buy a PS3 for a blu ray player first and games second. Pretty interesting that Target decides to do this right after more and more momentum was going to Sony in the format wars.
Nice
Roughly 30 and sold all but 1 or 2.BLaZiN PRopHeT said:to the people posting information about your stores how many copies of lost odyssey have you sold and how many did you get it?

I think that you aren't factoring in how many people will buy systems for GTA.Hcoregamer00 said:I am sure a lot of people think that way, so the best way to gauge GTA4 is preorders 2-3 weeks before release.
Hcoregamer00 said:I don't preorder games until 2 weeks before the game comes out, meaning I will likely preorder GTA4 a week after I buy Crisis Core.

Probably, it had a pretty big ad campaign on TV from what I saw.RBH said:Anyone else feel that Lost Odyssey could actually do pretty decently in the February NPD?
With the marketing push and good word of mouth, I think it could push 100k+ sales, which is double what Blue Dragon did in it's debut month in the US, I believe.

This makes no sense. If you take a look at the "my 360 died" thread you'll see that it's rare for someone to get a new machine. MS simply fills the box with a new hamster and sends it back out ready to fail again.kassatsu said:We were also told the main reason for the

I would not doubt this.
