I don't get the gif? Is player count a measuring stick for quality? MAG on ps3 is the greatest of all time then.
The port was never made by Valve directly though. That's why it never got any updates. Portal 2 was the only fully supported game they released.

It didn't get updates because Microsoft didn't want Valve updating the game for free.
Lol who plays this when the superior Overwatch is out?
Heck even the other F2P Paladins is better than Team Fortress 2 also.
Compared to Overwatch, both CSGO and TF2 have quite a bit of polishing up to do.
Not saying Overwatch is a better product (I actually enjoy CSGO over all 3) but Valve could really sharpen up the game's ui/transitions/loading/visuals/bugs/usability/etc.
TF2 really REALLY needs some love from Valve.
Because competitive TF2 is a joke. Why TF2 was never popular as an esport?
Please Valve port TF2 to Source 2 engine. I think it's about time already and 10nth anniversary is good enough reason to do it.
One silver lining is that Gabe Newell said in his recent AMA that he wants all of their developers working on Source 2 eventually.
Did they add a female playable character yet.
Or... any new playable character, really?
That game is such a joke now.

I was comparing two first person shooters.lol MAG doesn't even come close to many MMOs.
Which of course could just mean the end of TF2 support, particularly if they have to maintain the three VR games, most of which are very likely to be run as a "service."
The updates sound nice but I just want ad-hoc connections to Valve servers. That's the only way my gaming group will go back to TF2.
Does anyone know the context behind these round tables? Was it also a preview event for one of the new projects? I notice scant info on Dota 2 and CS:GO, the latter of which is waaaaaaaaaay overdue for a massive update.
Wouldnt you rather have tf3??
Shame they never added a 4-team mode, I loved murderball back in the original TFC.
Why TF2 was never popular as an esport?
The pyro is already in there.Did they add a female playable character yet
It's really not set up to be a competitive esport, and as a result, there's a lack of promotion to get it off the ground. It's all there if you want to play it, but it's never going to have the same level of success as the likes of CSGO or Overwatch.
The main two formats are 6s and Highlander (9v9). Proper 6s might as well be an entirely different game from regular old TF2, and Highlander, while fun, runs into the issue of getting 18 players together.

Console release when? Valve is missing massive money for not releasing it. I used to play a lot back then but now I'm focused on consoles and I really miss it.

One thing you may want to add to that summary ashecitism is that the Jungle theme will be used for a new Valve made map. I didn't include it when I made that summary because that thread is for hardcore TF2 fans and Valve had already announced they were making the map on the blog so everyone there was aware of it however many people reading this thread probably aren't aware of the map.
The next video that Valve News Network is going to post is the CSGO team talking about gambling, that video is going to be very interesting.

Hope they change the default network settings at one point. So many people that have played the game for years dont know the default settings in TF2 are awful and seriously hamper you.
Game just feels much better with a decent interp.
And add tutorials about some of the deeper mechanics like rocket jumping or at least a tip saying " LET GO OF W WHEN YOU'RE TRYING TO AIRSTRAFE YOU FUCKS"

This is why valve is a joke, he says 5 or 6 programmers like its so sad but those guys are way to busy to port it over. Well here's a thought Gabe take some those billions in your bank account that you seem to be spending on nothing and hire some fucking staff jackass. While your hiring why don't you hire some mangers so the jokers who are there have deadlines and risk of getting fired so something actually gets done. I used to love valve but I would like nothing better than for them to get acquired so some shit gets done. Nothing could be worse then the current valve ; the kings of microtransactions and sleazy back alley gambling.A TF2 youtuber recently visited Valve and they asked about that. They were told porting TF2 to source 2 would be nice however there are only5 or 6 programmers on the TF2 team (the rest of the 16 people do other stuff) so it would take a huge amount of their time to port the game to Source 2
Isnt overwatch a TF2 clone that is full of homophobes and people that spend more time watching the porn than they so playing it?Lol who plays this when the superior Overwatch is out?

I would say you should put a helmet on to protect yourself after That statement but you'll probably be ok since the OP put team fortress in the title of the thread. That's like having a skunk tied to your front door and expecting visitors; the only people coming in here are those who thought it was a titanfall 2 thread.Isnt overwatch a TF2 clone that is full of homophobes and people that spend more time watching the porn than they so playing it?

6's TF2 is not fun to watchWhy TF2 was never popular as an esport?
6's TF2 is not fun to watch
At least highlander embodies the TF2 spirit, but good luck finding 18 players for your long ass game
Highlander is stalemate central. 6v6 is waaay more fun to watch, which is why matches get way more views.
i know. thats why i feel it embodies the tf2 spirit more than any other mode.
have you ever played highlander 2fort? that is the most tf2 game i've ever played
The big problem with TF2 comp is that the game was never designed with competitive play in mind despite having a very high skill ceiling.
To be fair I think in a perfect world comp TF2 would be 12v12 (probably with class limits, maybe 2 per) and it would be played on a lot of different maps and modes. There are a lot of reasons that would never work in the real world which I'm sure I don't have to explain.
Highlander is probably closer to pub TF2 since they have a bigger weapon white list, every class is represented and more maps and modes are played. Highlander doesn't really work perfectly because it has too many players per team but it's certainly closer to "normal" TF2 than 6s.
6s of course has the issues of only have 4 of the 9 classes represented 95% of the time, many weapons banned and a very small map and mode pool. It's certainly not perfect but probably works better than highlander on a number of levels.
Or course now that Valve is going to work on comp TF2 they have a chance to change some design choices with both classes and modes to make the game work better than competitive. I think there's going to be a lot of growing pains and a lot of unhappy comp players, but hopefully when it's all said and done they're able to make the game work for everyone in the community.
I just want regular pubs back.
I poured hours upon hours in TF2, but once the competitive update hit it just lost me. I played TF2 to have fun and now that they've introduced this ranked feature and competitive 6v6 crap even in casual mode it just lost the magic. At least the community servers are alive and that's where I spent most time on, but yeah, this new focus just feels unnecessary.
The new casual system is garbage, yeah. Casual mode doesn't have 6v6 at all, though.
If anything, MYM shows how little focus Valve has on comp. The comp rollout was completely half-assed, with them ignoring everybody's feedback from the beta and populating it with maps nobody wants (like Swiftwater and fucking Turbine while removing classics like Snakewater and Badlands) and instead spending all their time making a major overhaul to pubs that nobody asked for.
