i think i read somewhere on gaf that you're too close to the track in vr, making it hard to see corners etc (for a fast paced racer like this)

Yeah it's a solid port, had it since launch. It's been reworked slightly for PSVR because the Moves can't track 360 like the Vive can but apart from a few tweaks to the environment layouts, it's worth buying at that price.

I would buy these at that price but I'm not 100% sure it will work with rift. I'm sure it will work on rift eventually or maybe out the gate, but not 100% certain, so just gotta wait to make sure

Doom 3 BFG Edition is on sale for $5 on Steam. There is a VR mod for it that has motion control support and teleportation/snap turning. I tried it last night and enjoyed it. It's pretty janky, but fun. Lots of hilarious moments.

I was getting a black screen on the main menu at first. It's a problem with AMD cards. The mod author released a test fix and it worked for me.

Also the Doom 3 guy has a fat ass.
