What's the one thing Nintendo can announce at E3 that would make GAF explode?

Retire their IPs and exit the video game business. No third party move. No selling their assets to Sony. Just taking their ball and going home. The whole internet would explode

People always assume they would hand over their shit to sony. Why not Disney? Google? Apple? Amazon?

Announce that Sony have sold Naughty Dog and Japan Studios to them. Announce Uncharted 4, The Last Guardian, The Last of Us 2, and new Naughty Dog IP for Wii U exclusively.

A new Metroid title developed by Retro
3D Mario title that looks better if not the same as Mario Kart 8
New Legend of Zelda title
A collab title with a popular third party developer.

Disney X Nintendo makes waaaay too much sense as a long term move.

Going third party, discontinuing the Wii U, being absorbed into Sony/MS/Apple/etc. Announcing a brand new system. Iwata stepping down and Reggie stepping up. Some crazy exclusive like Red Dead 3.

Shenmue III. The whole internet would implode and GAF would be down for a month.

They'll announce funding for Shenmue III, ZE3 and FFX-3.

What would make GAF explode? Bayonetta CE including 1&2, MM3D, MML3 for Wii U, KI:U HD, and a Yakuza Ishin Wii U port that will launch on winter '14 in Japan and spring '15 in other markets.

Realistically, I think a first look at the new Zelda game on Wii U is the only new announcement we'll see for it at E3. Something interesting could be announced for the 3DS for a Fall release, but it's hard to figure what it could be since its had most of its major classic IPs released on it already.

They've rigged explosives to GAF's servers, and the heat generated by announcing this detonates them.

what

isn't this what you asked for

To be honest, if they have a proper conference, most everything Nintendo will do there will be enough to make the GAF servers shit themselves - despite Evilore trying to shore up more and more upgrades every year, it still goes down every time without fail. :lol

As for the figurative bombs, any sort of high-profile acquisition, tangible Western partnership or a big budget WiiU followup to one of their marquee core franchises (Zelda, Metroid, StarFox) will be enough to bring the hype.

That goes for negative bombs as well. They don't need to go out of business for enough doom and gloom (and the inevitable counterspinning) to crash GAF. Announcing Super Mario Mobile would probably be enough.

All that said, the imo most likely scenario - not having a conference, just Directs focusing on some nebulously game-related Quality of Life bullshit and a couple 3DS games - might just produce the worst possible outcome for Nintendo: indifference among gamers.

Virtual Boy jokes aside, seeing them announce their own VR system would be pretty amazing. If anything because thats another step closer to Waifu Art Online.

GAF will bug them for something stupid like F-Zero and Nintendo will spend 3 years marketing F-Zero U as their big project.

not that I wouldn't mind F-Zero. I kinda want a lot of things

Gaf will explode to whatever Nintendo announces. But i guess the proper answer would be buying Sony. This would be hilarious.
Nintendo buying Square-Enix. New IPs and Eidos for Nintendo and sparing everyone else from mobile games. Sony's shares aren't a conflict of intereset anymore!

Merger with Valve.
New Console: Nintendo Steam Box, available right now.
Steam fully included, all games playable on console and on pc.

"Launch titles": New Metroid, Star Fox, F-Zero, Zelda and Half-Life 3, all with top-notch graphics.

The internet would implode.

As a Pc+ Nintendo gamer, this

Don't forget about S.T.E.A.M.

Yeah, WiiU being discontinued or Nintendo going third party or Nintendo making mobile / non-console / non-handheld games. Gaf is easy to take down around E3, but it's the only announcement that would really take down Gaf for a long time.

No positive WiiU announcement will make gaf explode, unfortunately.

Hahaha OOOOOOOHMYGOSH. Ok, this actually sounds like something that could happen in a weird twilight zone world and it sounds awesome.

Sony as a company has been having money trouble for years, decades even. They recently re-structured as a result.

Nintendo is sitting on mountains of money but have recently had too few games and too long development times (as a result of teams that are too small) to keep the Wii U successful. How weird would that be??

Earthbound U developed by level 5

Zelda comming 2014

pokemon U

What? No. No Earthbound without Itoi. Level 5 makes good games but not good enough to take on Earthbound.

Hopefully Zelda guess is accurate, but it seems doubtful :(

I hear a console version of a mainline Pokemon game get requested all the time, but I really think it a) wouldn't work and b) won't happen, because Nintendo knows it wouldn't work.

Zelda U blows away the tech demo visually and is out in December...

Naw, because it would be a gradual collective realization as the show went on.

"Surely they are saving everything for E3."

"Surely they are saving everything for their press conference."

"Surely they are saving the big news for closed door press meetings. Like Oculus in 2012."

"Surely they are saving the big news for the end. Like Fez 2."

Being more open to 3rd parties
Creating an 1st party development team that is solely for helping 3rd parties get stuff going on Wii U
Goldeneye sequel, proper dark/modern Zelda, a good Metroid
Going five minutes without mentioning Mario
An improved Wii U controller (with no screen)

the last thing the WiiU needs is a new controller. There are like 5 already, the consumer is already likely confused enough. And how would this proposed controller be different than the Pro controller?

personally I think the most plausable thing would be a new Star Fox and a new Metroid. and then the odd Nintendo anouncment from left feild. That could be related to a new business model. Maybe even a redesigned hardware. Or perhaps a third pillar product.

Zelda U 2015/2016

Metroid Prime 4 or sequel to Super Metroid

Majora's Mask 3DS

F-Zero U
