I still dislike the name. It's too attached to the platform, limits it's capacities of expansion I think.

They can't really do ZombiU to 3DS or PS Vita... Whatever they decide to do a spin-off at if it sells.

EDIT: Unless Zombi is the name of the IP.

Just mocked this up in PS... not exactly scientific, but there's hardly if any difference. Maybe more definition on the tiles on the wall, but it is just a YouTube grab.

Well it is meant to be an exclusive even though they said it could be ported i doubt it.

EDIT: If they did port it would it then be named Zombi360? and Zombi3?

The dual-analog aiming in the game makes me cringe. I remember why I couldn't bring myself to including it in my E3 pre-order specials from Best Buy this year.

And this is from a launch game. I really do think the gamepad is going to open up many new gameplay experiences. The fact that it is so tightly integrated into the console gives it the advantage over its competitors.

Yeah hopefully this just the beginning in regards to new gameplay experiences. Honesty I'm more excited for the gamepad than i was for motion controls. It may not have as much of a "wow" factor as motion controls, but I think it can be used more practically than motion controls. Don't get me wrong though I thought the wiimote was great for fps/ light gun games but it didn't really add much beyond that. For me anyways.

Agree, I got way too use to using Wiimote/chuck for FPS. I still think it would be nice if they allowed that setup along with the gamepad at the same time. Just have the gamepad lay on your lap and still be used for inventory and map uses, but let me move and aim/shoot with my perfect pointer controls.

Yes, the remote could be the gun, and the pad the bag/scanner, it's perfect, if they want more "tension" you have to lower your gun while looking for something in your bag!!!

Man, maybe I should take a break from GAF, or maybe just the gaming side. It's getting pretty heated over there, and I really don't wanna lose my cool and get banned.

Exactly, it would only add to the realism/survival aspect of the game. Although there is a line that can be crossed when getting too gimmicky can make it turn to be not as fun anymore.

It could be a lot of fumbling around if you do have to go back and forth a lot.

Oh boy! I've been predisposed from this thread for the last week (internet porn) and have come back to find nearly 20 pages to catch up on! Have there been any interesting news/discussion the past week? Or should I just skip all those pages?

Reminds me of the pre-E3 days, where every day I'd wake up to see 8-10 pages to catch up on. But those were a little easier as the posts were short and all condensed around a few current topics.

I'm with you on this. If they're going for the whole realistic, crouch down and look through you bag idea, taking a second or two to fumble with your controller would actually add to the tension. If ZombiU doesn't implement this style of gameplay, I really hope others (or perhaps a sequel, if it sells) at least experiment with it. This dual analog shit is for the birds.

ZombiU looks good.

But I can't shake the feeling that it's going to be Red Steel all over again. Not very hyped for the game.

Over where mate? You don't feed trolls, you out troll'em ;)

It's as HylianTom says, the Teacher-Student process is a sure fire way to get banned.

Today, I was just called a blind, rabid Nintendo apologist, just for me making a sarcastic reply to a troll. I had a nasty reply ready, but thankfully, I backspaced that shit. But man did I want to send it.

Do what I do. PM them asking for their home address. Then send tell them what you really think via hand written letter/materials. NeoGaf can not ban you for stuff you say via snail mail.

I'm sorry, I was having a Kung-Fu flashback.

Geez, I keep forgetting I can post now... lol.

Do we know anything about multi player? Did the "dungeon master" mode from Killer Freaks carry over?

I'm SO sorry to going back to specs but this site says this is "leaked" specs of the PS4.

http://www.vgleaks.com/world-exclusive-ps4-in-deep-first-specs/

TLDR SPECS

CPU

4 core (2 core pairs) 3.2 GHz AMD x86 (Steamroller)
aggregate, 10x PS3 PPU performance
512 KByte L2 per core pair
64 bit pointers
GPU

AMD R10x series GPU @ 800 MHz (Tahiti)
aggregate 10x RSX performance, 1.84 TFlops
DX”11.5″
cheap branching
18 compute units, focus on fine grained compute & tessellation
MEMORY:

2 GByte UMA, pushing for 4 GByte
192 GByte/ sec non-coherent access for e.g. GPU
12 GByte/ sec coherent access for CPU
>50% longer memory latency for CPU/ GPU compared to PC!!!
DXT is lowest bpp texture compression format
MEDIA:

50 GByte BD drive
PCAV, between 3.3 and 8x BD, most likely clamped to 6x
automatic background caching to HDD
HDD SKU with at least 380 GByte
downloadable games
EXTRA HARDWARE:

video encoder/ decoder
audio processing unit, ~200 concurrent MP3 streams
HW zlib decompressor
Our source claims that the final specs should be 10x powerful than PS3, due to this info has got 10 months.

How do this really go with the Wii U?

Again I'm sorry :(.

Personally mate, I wouldn't give'em the benefit of getting riled up... just trolls man... have a laugh and a joke at their expense but never anything more.

You should do what this guy did. This was the video he made after someone said his hair was shit. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AjTnODdWzGo&feature=plcp

Probably not a wise philosophy to live by here.

To troll or not to troll, that is the question!

To be fair, alot of the issues with Red Steel came down to the gesture recognition and IR pointing bounding box issues. Many devs struggled with this early on, and Red Steel 2 was a major improvement (tho still flawed - arbitrary points of no return are absolute madness). Graphically, yeah it was nowhere near the bullshots, but I had fun with it as a rental. As long as ZombiU's framerate doesn't take a nosedive frequently, it's shaping up to be a solid launch title.

I'm not an expert and don't really understand how to interpret those specs, but I'd say it puts the PS4 in the same generation as Wii U.

So torn on ZombiU.

- Would like to support Ubi (at least with Red Steel we got Red Steel 2 out of it)
- Looks too stressful (I realize that is the point, and it could be stressful in a good way - the original Pikmin was a little stressful too)
- Too many other games!

Maybe I can rent it and get through most of it.

You know, one thing I haven't noticed in any of the ZombiU videos is much ragdoll physics with 'non-important' items.

Like in the nursery, there are a lot of things lying around, but if you walk into them does anything happen? Like the beach ball, teddy bear, etc.

I think something to really push the hardware would have been to make almost everything in the world useable. To me, that would really scream NEXT GEN. How fun would it be to kick that beach ball in a zombie's face, which would cause a 1 second hiccup to them and then blast them in the face. Or use items like that as a distraction.

It was kinda disappointing to me to see things like the shotgun and ammo pickups be shiny's and outlined. That pretty much says only certain things can be picked up or used.

Does it have a cool controller with a built in screen for asymmetric gameplay?
Or even a cool pointer controller
Is it coming out this year... or even next year?

If not, then I dont care to compare.

Just noticed it was posted on June 8th, so it's probably fake for sure, and I never heard of this site before so yeah...

I have a potentially interesting question.

Anyone who has played Wii online has probably noticed quite a bit of lag. I've poured hours into GoldenEye, for example, and it's obvious that the Wii bottlenecks the crap out of the available bandwidth. People with 50 Mbps down on their laptop experience 3 Mbps on the Wii.

With the Wii U coming, undoubtedly it will have improved online capabilities. So, my questions are:

1. Do you think we will be able to play Wii games online on Wii U?
2. If so, will the increased available bandwidth be utilized? Will we suddenly have a decent experience online with Wii games?

Certainly Nintendo WFC doesn't have the best infrastructure, either, so any lag or problems induced by it will still be there.

MW3 is one of the better examples of Wii online, but the host suffers lag. Not played it much, but most Wii owners say BLOPs is the best online experience for them.

Erm, you might want to reconsider that as English is not even my second language.

Something tells me you're better at chess and a LOT of people ask you to fix their computers :p

For those just tuning in, here's what we learned from E3 (mostly from the dev walkthrough):

- Set in London.
- Emphasis on survival. How long you can stay alive.
- One bite, you die. That 'character' is gone forever. Lose all your skills/gear.
- No saving, checkpoints of 'game overs'.
- Instead you 'respawn' as a different survivor in a different location, yet in the same game world.
- Can run into your previously played, now dead, survivors. Kill them to loot equipment you found during that play.
- 'Dynamic' level design to avoid obvious scripting. Scares/spawns different each time you play.
- As the game world is persistent actions by one survivor will be observable by another. EG: Unlock doors with one character, that character dies. Second character will find those doors unlocked. Equipment stored in safe houses by dead survivors lootable by new ones.

- Leaderboards ranking deaths per 'mission'.
- Wii U GamePad is your 'survival kit'. Used for interacting with the game world, using tools, etc.
- Used to create a cinematic 'third person' perspective when interacting via the pad. Devs liken it to horror movie scenes like someone trying to unlock a car, and an over the shoulder perspective showing incoming zombies.
- Can upgrade weapons.
That... actually sounds... good? I figured it was a standard shoot-em up with a gimmick or two but no.

Yup, that was all unveiled at E3. Certainly appears to be something different.

Speaking of zombies, does anyone else think RE6 will end up being awful? I've not been impressed with what I've seen of it.

Q about Zombie U. Will they change the height of the first person view depending on the survivor you are playing?

I have no faith in the franchise any more after witnessing the shift in direction/style it has taken. Truly sad.

I'm hoping that ZombiU will step in to fulfill my desire for tense survival-style gaming.

The concept sounds very good, but the execution so far.. meh..

I hate, HATE the fact that these "new" characters are all introduced in exactly the same manner, kills any realism or actual threat of the game IMO.

Plus, it looks like a survival horror but it plays like an FPS. What I mean by that is, yes, it has all the elements right, but it lacks a certain atmosphere that separates good horrors from great ones, it has an atmosphere of a dark FPS, but that's about it really.

Sorry for being so down on the game, for what its worth, the rest of Ubi's line up looks very very promising for the Wii U.

Got a real laugh attack from that pic.

Watching SG-1 all over again finally some proper quality on DVD I bought some time ago, and in 4-th season right now :)
I've just finished my rewatch of all 10 - fucking awesome series.

Another Junior here I'm afraid. Thanks for all the WUST threads people, its been a joy/horror to read/follow. Rather 'psyched' to now be able to join in the fun :D

I'm also a little confused about the USB 3.0 omission. I mean I fully expected it, just cos. But does it really cost that much more to implement? I heard it can aid and cheapen the manufacturing process (quicker flashing) - would that not out weigh the initial cost?
I imagine the USB 2 move was primarily due to ubiquity. Most people don't have USB 3 enclosures and USB 2 is über popular still. If they went USB 3 devs still would have to have optimised for USB 2 anyway.
