So no optical out? How do I get sound out of this thing...
I'm not playing with my TV speakers lol. There's gotta be a way.
I like the OP.
What do you think to add just a list of the most important titles already confirmed for the launch window?
Something like this.... (but with this particular model you lose HDMI video out)

10am NYC so add your UK hours to 10am
I did domething similar with my ps1 RGB cabel back in the days... 15 FUCKING YEARS AGO lol
I'll add them later tomorrow/today
HDMI into an amp?
oh the hey... here we go talking about cables at least wait until we know what is in the box
Have Nintendo even confirmed if this thing supports any decent audio codecs? The OP is conspicuously absent of information on that front.
I fogot to count them. You could be right.I felt like there were more of them in the newer builds post-E3. Could be imagining it.

Fingers crossed for DD-HD or DTS-HD MA but it looks like 7.1 is out of the question. Boo.If you are interested:
Audio Output
Uses six-channel PCM linear output via HDMI® connector, or analog output via the AV Multi Out connector.

that's all we have up to now
So as far as we can tell, the CPU is basically an enhanced Wii CPU? I remember reading a while back that someone in the know mentioned it wasn't even clocked over 1 ghz.
Yep, EVERY Wii controller works with this.So we know for a fact that normal wii-motes will work with the Wii U? Motion Plus not required?
From today's conversations with a Nintendo rep, Pikmin 3 is not a launch game. Their focus is on Nintendoland, New SMB U, Ninja Gaiden 3, and hopefully Lego City (could slip). All will be revealed on Sept 13 but if I had to guess, Pikmin 3 may be a spring title. This gels with current marketing showing up in stores - no sign of Pikmin 3.
lol @ no DVD playback
Why on earth would you want dvd playback. You can watch dvds with your alarm clock or fridge nowadays
Announcement on my birthday (13. sept) has to be a sign!
lol @ no DVD playback
Some people don't like to have 30 devices under their tvWhy on earth would you want dvd playback. You can watch dvds with your alarm clock or fridge nowadays
Except it would kill the drive. So while the benefit might seem obvious, the drawback isn't but certainly outweighs it.I should think the benefits are obvious but then I don't have a DVD player in my fridge or alarm clock.

No, it won't. DVD are played sequently with no random seeks and at a very slow drive speed. Games break drives, DVD don'tExcept it would kill the drive. So while the benefit might seem obvious, the drawback isn't but certainly outweighs it.
No, it's just for Wii and 3DS.
My body is ready for Wii U!

I do know what you mean but I do think it's a bit of a missed opportunity. I don't watch DVD's often, but when I do I use my PS3 because the AV functions are so shit hot (I seriously doubt any next gen console will match the PS3 in audio functionality and quality). With the Wii-U having the padlet, it might've been cool to be able to watch films on that. I dunno, it's certainly not going to be a deal-breaker for anyone.Really? Time to get a new alarm clock
But you know what I mean. I guess I don't really see the benefits. Of course I saw it with the PS2. It was a system seller. And I can see why PS3 and Xbox 360 have it. They're multimedia devices next to game consoles. Surely people don't expect Nintendo to release a multimedia device?
That's a very good point too.Well... I wouldn't want JUST a Nintendo console under my tv... with or without dvd player
I sincerely doubt that (although there might be some laser-based consideration I'm missing).

So, question, everyone:
To all you launch day-buyers - will you be buying one IN STORE or get it from amazon, etc?

I hope they don't fuck up the Wii U version of Black Ops.
Treyarch don't let me down.

Thanks.
Remember, ZombiU cannot technically be another red steel, as Red Steel was Developed by Ubisoft Paris. ZombiU is being developed by Ubisoft Montpellier. If you know your Ubisoft studios, you should at least have some more hope.
Hopefully, just hopefully, some people from Rayman Legends or BG&E2 are working on it, but we'll see how it turns out.
Jesus, none of you lot not got optical out on your TVs? Come on, get with the times!!
I already have the PS3 for DVDs and Blurays, so for me it's not important.
I'd be way more interested in the Netflix application, if one day it will be available in PAL regions...also because of the Gamepad (I saw the app working and it was cool, with the double screen managing and switching between the movie and the info and so on) that I'll probably use as a TV remote controller (probably, I'll have to test it)
