People like to repeat the mantra that shamans are shit. They're not, at least not in PvE. They are the undisputed fucking king of healers. You will commonly see top guilds take maybe 5 or more to raids.

Well, thats probably because Shamans have the best combat buff in the game: Heroism/Bloodlust.
Our raid leader will put the 4 best DPS in a group then have a Shaman blow it, when it wears off, switch in a new Shaman, blow it, switch in a third Shaman, blow it.
Judging by initial new spells for all classes this will continue in the expansion.

It's early Alpha, don't expect full polish to things yet, several classes are still getting talents. Also, I really hate the Mage victim attitude they've seemingly become known for, I always said the class needed buffs to mana issues, but they were middle of the road for the entire expansion, nowhere near poorly off, just because you're not as good as the FOTM's.

That said, I do agree with early Mage work being underwhelming, but I'm certainly not really digging too much of the Resto Shaman changes either. Priest fucking cleaned up in every spec, and that's annoying.... even if I am one... coz I kinda wanna play my Shaman as Resto instead.

Hmmm, not sure if I agree here. The discipline changes have potential, but if Blizzard wants it to be a serious raid tree (and the new stuff suggests they do), they're going to have to do more than load the very top of the tree with cool stuff. It will be very difficult to get to 41 without dropping ten to fifteen points in useless shit like wand spec. IMO, it would be perfect if they spread those upper synergy talents more evenly through the tree.

But I agree that these are relatively small concerns for a class that is looking to have two other excellent trees, especially when placed next to those of, say, mages. (lol)

And speaking of mages, I highly doubt we've seen the bulk of their new stuff.

There is a reason why all SWP first kills had a lot of shamans. Shamans who QQ that they Blizz hates them should seriously think for a second wtf they are talking about

they are great in pve. Most of the complaints come from pvp which are fair but not great.

and I really do like the resto changes. Spirit link is underwhelming (so far) but it's a good way to mitigate damage on the tank and force some chain heal spam (which, as boring as it can be, is still by far the best shaman heal). But the improvements to healing wave/lesser healing wave are great. Huge crit bonus and 25% more +healing makes them a lot more potent. That will boost resto's power in pvp a lot since LHW is mainly a pvp heal.

Now they just need to make earth shield undispellable... or put some mechanic on it that makes it so dispelling it is bad, like dispelling lolifebloom.

I like the elemental changes, but I really wish blizz would put in a basic anti-pushback talent for them instead of crappy eye of the storm. Eye is good for pvp (then again, it's also easy to purge and you tend to spam dispel against shamans anyway) but without some kind of anti-pushback there is no way to grind as elemental. And it would let blizzard give the elemental pvp sets a better 4 piece bonus.

edit: also spirit link will be an awesome way to break being CCed in pvp. Just too bad it won't break stunlock.

Not suprisingly I chose Mage as my initial class at the launch of the game. I apologize. Every initial class I've ever chosen in any MMO I've ever played has gotten the absolute shit end of the stick (if you were planning on playing a Marauder in Warhammer, BAIL THE FUCK OUT).

Thats taking it a bit far, don't you think? Mages need some work, yeah.. But shit end of the stick? They are still pretty good classes. Honestly, the only thing hurting them aside from mana issues is that fact that they have the steepest learning curve of all the classes.

PvP wise, at least.

I also like the Improved Nova Totem talent in Elemental. Once it pops off it stuns those it hits, the vice to this is that Shaman all know how mana-expensive Nova Totem really is.

Also.. if this Hex works like it does in WC3 and certain mobs who use it in WoW (Trolls specifically), the transformation doesn't break upon damage.

Yeah, but Shamans have countless other ways to waste their mana so might as well use Nova totem.

I hope so, I really pity Shamans when it comes to combat mobility (being a Druid and all)

Compare that to mages, a DPS class. Who do less DPS then warlocks and hunters, but don't have a fucking pet! Jesus fucking Christ, I better see mages rule the roost in WotLK.

So having a pet in Pve that is a pain in the ass and you usually have to constantly look out for means Hunters should do less DPS then mages? It's not like the hunter alone does more dmg then the mage it's a combination of hunter + its pet.

I think they nerfed Degeneration, at least I remember hearing something about it so it doesn't screw over Druids so badly.

It still corrupts a HoT on the target. It just no longer corrupts any new HoTs cast.

Looking at the new DK talents, man, frost is a lot better now. Seems like you could go frost and do incredible dps, which is always nice out of a tanking tree. Blood's new Heart Strike looks like it is very powerful with less potential for cheese compared to the old version.

Some mobs are able to cast Hex but shapeshifted druids are immune to it. Most likely that will be the case here, too. I await the stream of tears that the wow forums will devolve into once the game hits, although maybe Death Knights will bare the brunt of the crying.

I decided to swap off my Shaman plans for LK and stay with Priest, I really like the changes to Priest. I wish I was still Shadow though, man the Shadow buffs are some of the largest I've ever seen. Hope SPriest will be as tough in LK as it was in vanilla WoW PvP.

I just talked to a friend of a friend on alpha, and heard some stuff about priests:

- Guardian Spirit's HoT doesn't scale with +Heal. It's also treated as a pet that can die. Sounds pretty terrible to me at this point.
- Circle of Healing, now with six-second cooldown, heals only five raid members within its radius.
- Improved Holy Concentration is now granting haste instead of regen.

As a Warrior, I had that same reaction. Cheat Death is already annoying.

Likely just a safeguard to hold some balance since Execute itself is getting much stronger, too, with the new Sudden Death ability.

2 points:

1) Blizzard = artistic Gods. The consistency of WoW's graphics coupled with their ability to make slightly incremental improvements to overall fidelity has a fucking awe-inspiring effect. Cohesion, cohesion, cohesion - it's the most important part of ANY graphics engine, and Blizzard has it nailed.

2) Fuck YES at all the positive Shaman changes. I'm absolutely loving it, but at the same time I'm absolutely terrified that Shaman will become the new FOTM class, something I already get a feeling is happening.

The brewfest kodo makes me weep.

Kodos.... they're the tank of the Horde...

My favourite mount to ride because of how they hug the angle of the ground unlike most mounts.

Seeing Alliance on kodos is going to be so wrong... But not surprising considering how Blizzard has tossed the realms to hell as it is. And the mount does look great.


I saw most of the new shots here yesterday on that wiki site, but I don't believe I saw the coast stronghold with the flags waving in the wind -- hopefully that's a new effect they've made and can add to the rest of the game world over time. Same with that fog effect, too, in that... Boreal (?) or northern lights esque forest.

I think that’s the case for a lot of classes/specs atm. (Except mages)

People will be freaking out when ferals DON’T shift out of cat form after opening. With a 50% snare and a 20 second CC immunity / adrenaline rush – I fear for a 2.0.1 repeat.

Yeah, knowing how God awful lazy Blizzard is they'll probably just recycle animations and then use the laugh sound for the /sneeze emote LOUL.

The question still burns if I should continue with my Druid alt or my Shaman alt? Those Shaman talents are baller and got me thinking about my twink. There are tons of Druids for PvP reasons but not a lot of Shamans but that Imp. Shamanistic Rage got me hawt.

I don't want a shitty Kodo! Kodos look ridiculous, IMO. More specifically they look ridiculous when it's a Blood Elf or an Undead riding. Ughh...

Now a Wolf.... That would have been far preferred by me, since they felt like they had to toss something to Alliance after giving Horde an easy to obtain Ram.
