Xbox 360 Dashboard update details

That Live Arcade hits is BS. If it were truly like a real Greatest Hits service, the good games would be on there for a discounted price: Street Fighter, Uno, Geometry Wars, etc. This is more like the clearance rack for games that don't sell.

Watch the video. Talk to capcom not microsoft.

So do we or do we not have clan support? Why would that be in the Spanish PR but completely left out of the English PR?

This update has everything I asked for, I just want to know if there is support for 16:40 resolutions, I need 1440x900 :( Any of the 1up guys know anything?

Yeah, what's the official word on clans, Patrick? You guys didn't mention anything and I didn't see anything in the video.

So have they removed those images from behind the buttons? At first they use to annoy me but now that they are gone it looks so plain and boring.

Hah not a chance, I use a samsung lcd with the same res but it's never going to appear. Best bet is 16:10 but even that is in the dark.

Though Greatest Hits have always been to put some more life into game sales, I know Marble Blast Ultra is one of the top selling 800 point XBLA games.

In a back door sort of way, yes. There's no "official" clan support. As someone just pointed out to me, you could create a free silver account that acts as your "clan" account. Basically the clan leader starts a silver account with the clan name and all the clean member add that person as a friend and with FOF you can see everyone in your clan.

It's not full featured, but.

This is MPEG4-ASP,so it is not XVID/DIVX at all?

However,AVI container implementation is really good.

Well 1up who have tested the update seem pretty sure it does mean divx xvid support.

Xbox LIVE Arcade fans: we heard you. Trial games no longer show up on your profile. No more zero-gamerscore trial games on your played games list! (This applies to games loaded after the update; unfortunately, previously-played trial games will still be listed.)

What?

How does that work? Oh, you mean you would create a "Clan" account that everyone would be friends of, or friends of friends of.

• Xbox LIVE Arcade Hits.

So it's not clan support. It's just a side-effect of the FoF feature.

Interesting. I would have preferred like a real clan support that carried over through multiplayer games. This is, as you described, really more of an expanded friends list. And since a lot of people are setting to "Blocked", a borked one at that.

Look up. Luke mentioned it a few days ago but no one caught on. I gave it some thought but figured he didn't actually mean it.

Where did luke say something about clans built in?

I hope the expanded video formats thing covers everything I have..
I doubt it's a true clan system, to use it correctly it would have to be implemented in all games too no or maybe I don't understand what everyone wants/expects.

Don't know about the clan support, it's not mentioned in any PR aside from the Spanish one, that is very specific:

Besides FOF lists, another feature would be clan support, that will allow the creation of groups of friends.

Hahaha... oh wow.

And I'm glad that the Xbox 360 will now had Divx/Xvid support, because hopefully that'll make Sony get into gear and get their support for it in as soon as possible. Nothing against the 360, I'd just prefer watching my stuff on the PS3, since I can copy it all to the hard drive. Ah, if only we then had .srt and .mkv support... my J-TV watching could finally be done on my actual TV.

My thoughts -

2) News feed is cool. I get most of my news online, but the integration is a great addition.

If its anything like the implementation that came up in the PS3's latest firmware update you'll probably turn it off :-\

Just what I was thinking, so who's gona make the NeoGAF tag?
(as it grows get their can be NeoGAF1, NeoGAF2 all attached also)

Nice run through eXxy, seems like a lot of nice touches and house cleaning for what is already available.

The market place tidy up was badly needed and the Insider is something MS could really benefit from if done right (tho the Major Minute may make my eyes bleed). Nice to see they are offering info directly on the console in an official format.

Much more of a reworking than addition of real new features, the community stuff is a start, profile pages and friends of friends is defiantly a beginning of opening up the community.

The free stuff tab is great and the fact MS is pushing a route for XBLA and DLC pricing drop is excellent.

The addition of being able to play the video you actually want to play will mean I use my 360 now instead of connecting up my laptop to the TV wooT!

Lack of Party Chat, True Clan Support & a friend extension are a wound for the moment and sure the who 16x10 thing is still being begged for.

Anyone else catch this:

This free update will be digitally distributed over Xbox LIVE to the more than 8 million Xbox LIVE members worldwide (Xbox LIVE Silver and Gold)

Have they always made it a point to say its both silver and gold?
