No, he's right. It's the same with manga, ecchi manga full of pretty girls sells a multitude of times more than regular porn, and it's not an issue of art quality but age rating and thus availability and marketing.
Well fair enough point I guess... but even if they weren't, they're still not getting released on PlayStation, Steam or basically anywhere that gives the sort of visibility you'd want when selling a game like this. Maybe they wouldn't be crap quality-wise if they could?

There's more money and merchandise opportunity in girls in bikini's than girls doing porn. Once they make that jump especially in Japan they can ruin the franchise and characters for good. Happens in real life to gravure models.
Its a fighting game. Its ok to make a sexy volleyball game (I like DOA but dont care about Xtreme). But staight out sex game? Yeah I like my porn a lot but wouldnt like that as a DOA player.
And surely it would be bad for the franchise.
but before that, there's just the path set forth by the company. You have companies that make porn games, and 'normal' game companies that have decades of relatively classy game publishing behind them. Both can have brand recognition. Both can be skeezy and greedy, and both know what they're doing.

Unless the cash amount has something to do with a trick or bug, they'll throw them both away if they don't like them. You can gift say, 3 venus suits to one target, morning,noon,night. You won't be able to check if the target accepted because of the 3 gifts. When you retire to sleep, they'll throw em all away.
Keep in mind if they like you, they'll open it right there sometimes. In turn, if the target hates/dislikes it, you'll be lucky to gift another for the day. The target will lose notes even if they accept it. In all the difficult suit gifting I did many ways, it really was quite unpredictable.
Ayane's blue school girl swimsuit was just as tough as the skimps to get accepted.
Oh I see how it is. It's alright for them to beat the shit out of each other as long as they don't handle each other's volleyballs. Gotcha.

Well, yeah, If I like a character as a fighter and not as a "porn actress" I guess you can understand I won't like them to appear in sex games.
It would be different if the DOA characters came from a sex game.
That's just my opinion though.

Doing that the game would lose its charm, identity and light-hearted tone. Not only would a "hardcore girl sex" approach reduce the already limited market for the game:
Sex isnt sexy man. The implication, suggestion and allusion of erotisism and nudity is far more appealing.
Or at the very least, that sort of thing is my bag. Baby.

They're practically geriatric! Any remaining characters that are more than a month past their 18th birthday will be weeded out by the time the next volleyball game comes around.

This rating is a death sentence for games that want to sell copies. Until it is considered equal to an R rating in movies, we still have problems in this industry.

Your and Synth's posts remind me of the Tecmo forums way back when, sharing strategies and uncovering gifting methods. I put way too much time into DOAXVB and DOAX2.

The first was a fun volleyball game/casino with a collection mechanic.
The second one ruined the first's image.
Reminds me of people all of a sudden thinking RE5 was a bad game after playing RE6, or (for a closer comparison) Rumble Roses 2 ruining the image of Rumble Roses 1, which played like a good PS2 Smackdown game.
Yup. DOAXVB was my favorite volleyball video game ever because of the mechanics, regardless of whatever else was tacky or obnoxious in the game. DOAX2 was really not fun for me or any of my friends who used to play the first one with me. I just want a great volleyball game, DOAX or otherwise.

That's a shame. DOAX has some really solid Volleyball play.
And DOAX2's jet ski stuff is great too.
The really important question I want answered is how the hell they're planning on going one better than the opening cutscene to DoA Paradise.

I just have no idea how you top that.

I liked the volleyball as well, and the jetski to some extent. I liked playing cards to the cheesiest jazz ever. I guess this is like saying you read Playboy for the articles, but I thought the game played well for something which presumably had no business being anything but playing dressup with comicly exploitative paper dolls.

I could do without the stupid stupid cow motif they keep giving to her. I know I shouldn't come to DOAX3 and expect class but basically the developers saying Honoka has "cow tits" rubs me the wrong way. We get it. She has the biggest rack, and that's fine! I just don't need the cow references.I'm not a fan of Honoka, I expecially hate her theme song the most to the point that it's the only song I changed it in the game but I'm liking her swimsuits the most. As for the characters I care about Marie Rose's swimsuits aren't that good for the most part and Nyotengu hasn't been shown enough.
I actually enjoyed the Beach Volleyball part in the first DOAX, but that's mostly becasue there weren't (and aren't) any alternatives (well, hardly any) if you're into that sport.
But even then parts of it felt weird. I definitely get the "why don't you just look at some sort of porn? why this weird half-step?" kind of sentiment.
