Bought more manga and LN. Been waiting so long for Angel Beats. It makes me want to go ahead and do my seasonal rewatch of Angel Beats.
The ending felt bland but otherwise it was a pretty nice series.

Rune v Yamato was a good battle too.
God Ultimo Frontal Till Dawn is an epic design in action. I wanted so much more of it as it was an excellent evolution for Yamato and Ultimo. I wonder how it will be against Vice Back From The Dark. I cant wait for the next volume.

Yoooooooooooo this was a glimpse on how a Space arc would be and I loved it... the creaturers the spaceship designs.... ugh but WSJ is rishing this so likely it might not happen

but Blue Nitros come from another galaxy and are not all currently here but a small recon group so maybe we will explore and actually not skip stuff

WTF. Hina marries and has a child with Hiromi... It wasn't out of the realm of possibility that she wouldn't be able to wait for Satoru to come out of the coma, but I'm just as disappointed regardless. We were shown so many heartfelt scenes between Satoru and Hina that I was definitely expecting the story to end with those two together. Ugh...
I guess what's worse is that there's nothing else to look forward to anymore. Story was going downhill for a while because the killer was so obvious after the candy incident in the teacher's car. All that's left now is for him to kill the guy. Bleh.

This was like, emotional torture porn the manga, basically? I mean, I think that's what it was going for. It could have been edgy as fuck, but the author did a good job preventing that from happening. I was disappointed in Sera's backstory, and that we didn't get any of the villains', but I liked the rest of the one's we got. I liked how even the one that seemed well adjusted was actually pretty broken as fuck too. It was interesting how the world was going to end, but I didn't feel that broken up about it, you know? Except for the, uh, obvious consequences that would have for the characters I got attached to. I was kind of mad that we only got one death though. That was bullshit. I dunno, I thought on the whole it was just okay besides the time traveler arc, which was amazing. Otherwise, I kind of just rolled with what happened and didn't get super invested in most of the characters.
And obviously, witch girl = best girl. ;-; ;-; ;-;

Did we? If it was just showing them off I wouldn't fully count that. Now that they're here they actually matter. Would have definitely put them in the back of my mind if they were only cameo'd.

Earlier on in Fourteen's story, the President of the United States' son, a green-haired boy named America, is visited by a creepy humanoid cactus, Bobby, who thanks America for listening to him and then tells him his goodbyes. After he peaces out, plants all across the planet wither and die.
If I made a list of top ten crazy things that go down in Fourteen, Bobby wouldn't even make the cut. Like, that actually doesn't even compare to what else is in this manga. There's eccentric, there's nuts, there's completely cracked out, and then there's Fourteen.
Things start off with a mutant chicken forming inside a chicken manufacturing company. It quickly grows, both physically and mentally, then escapes. After spending a night on a computer, he declares he's Chicken George, and boy is Chicken George ever pissed at what humanity has done to the animal kingdom. From there Fourteen goes on an adventure involving the secrets to immortality, green babies, trash island, a wrestling death match and Earth dying.
The whole thing moves along at a nice clip and never stops treating its insane scenarios as dead serious as possible which, of course, means it never stops being hilarious. It keeps bouncing between wild ideas and unpredictable twists, and the cool thing is, it somehow keeps up this creative energy from beginning to end. It only gets weirder in ways you won't see coming, too. You think Chicken George is bizarre, then a dinosaur pops out of a briefcase. There's this invasion arc in the second half, which just suddenly happens, and it's both the funniest part in the manga as well as probably the most absurd thing I've seen from Umezu. I love it.
I imagine most will find the wall to wall fuckery overwhelming, but for anyone who wants to feel like they're on all the damn drugs, Fourteen comes highly recommended.
I'm one for three on the New Year's backlog thing now, for the record.

Seems to me that a manga or anime can never be fully accomplished until there's a Monster Hunter reference on it. Good chapter.
I'd like to reiterate that the one big advantage of these random Team Evil characters is that they actually present a "who will win?" scenario, because Tsukuda can't keep throwing curveballs like the 3-way tie forever. There's room in the story for both a Kurokiba loss and a Kurokiba win instead of the usual "well this guy is obviously winning because of the prior setup".
