In case some cg/edited for the eyes or mouth was confirmed, what do you think will be behind the bandages in the reveal?
a man?

a man?
and why this man would reveal his face at a conference?
because everything will be revealed at GDC?
TeamCG has diverse beliefs about what is CG in the video. The null hypothesis is that it's a normal interview, which is why we get everything else. You're right, we win if only the little hair sticking out of his bandage is CG, but that would only be scientific. More practically, it's only an eat crow moment if something is CG that explains why he looks so weird.I think it's CLEARLY real. And TeamCG should have some confidence that at least the complete face (without the bandages) is CLEARLY CG, cause THAT is what you TeamCG'ers think.

Well, everyone will have to decide for themselves how wrong they were.Seems like TeamReal is a bit more hardcore but that's fine.
I'm rational enough to realise there is always a chance that even MY eyes could deceive me.
But i'm certain the guy is real.
Of course is real, but is he acting directly in front of the camera or is the face "photoshoped" over the head?. Nobody think is a cg modeled in max and animated by hand, right? The key is the lighting and the shaders in the modified face to hide the trick.
I think the entire head is CG, but I'm not certain. I think this because of the eyelid and neck shadow quirks and I'm not convinced by the explanations offered in this thread (although I concede these explanations might be accurate).I think most TeamCG members think the face parts of the guy are CG.
But now they're narrowing it down more and more.

I just realized that Joakim Mogren has defined as the head of Moby Dick studios. In my language (not English), the literal translation of "the head" is not the "leader" or "chief" of a company. It literally means "head".

Rashid Sayed: What’s next for Faceware? Do you guys think there is scope for this technology to improve and take it to another level?
Jay Grenier: We’ve got some huge things coming in 2013 that we’re really excited about. Working closely with Image Metrics gives us first dibs on the new tech they are developing and we’re working on a full integration of their next-gen facial tracking and animation tech into Faceware. There’s so much more room to grow and so much more to do. The sky is the limit for this technology.
Rashid Sayed: Is there anything else you want to tell our readers about Faceware?
Jay Grenier: Stay tuned for some huge advancements in facial capture this year, some big things are coming!

Obviously Kojima refers to #teamcg and #teamreal. He knows everything guys.
You're on my ignore list now shagg_187.

Could you explain why a cg head would produce ' neck shadow quirks'? Are there other examples of world leading CG with such issues?
yeah but it doesn't happen a lot in finalised CG (movies). It happens a lot in game engines.Rendering error. The shadow disappears and reappears. Happens in the Phantom Pain trailer even.

A generational difference (Phantom Pain is current gen or on Vita)So it's an optimisation for real time based on distance? I see. How does bandaged guy compare to Joakim in terms of detail?

... Fuck!
Alright. Fuck this, I'm joining a side now. As much as I'm skeptical and how my brain says #TeamReal is the way to go, deep down inside I don't want it to be real. Deep down inside I want next-gen to blow me away. I want next-gen to confuse old people (like my dad) and make them say "Are you watching a hockey game?" or "What movie is this?"
The closest a game has ever come to confuse my dad was during Fight Night Round 3, and it looked amazing, but we've surpassed that. I want next-gen to fuck with our minds.
Don't disappoint me.
It would be quite sweet if it in fact were CG just due to the aggressiveness of TeamReal.

Artifacts are not going away next-gen. Shit happens. So the face is next gen but the shadows on the face glitching in ways they don't even in the current gen trailer. I think I understand, thank you.

Plausible. Looks like the Separable Subsurface Scattering demo but with mocap animation. So you believe this is a realtime demonstration?
TeamReal AKA TeamNoFunAllowed AKA TeamSeriousBusiness

This tech demo can be maxed on 5 year old hardware, which might account for that difference. Looks real to me whenever the model isn't overexposed. It looks especially good when he has a partial shadow on his face. There is quite a difference imo.
