I don't even own 52 games, let alone 52 I have not completed yet. Darn rich people. :p
As a PC gamer, you can get a huge backlog for insanely cheap. Between bundles and sales you could easily end up with 52 games for less than $50. If you wanted AAA games and are patient you can get almost any game released from the first half of the year and earlier for under $10.

Personally I tend to buy games I am interested in when they are at least 75% off and put them in my backlog. I like being able to play them whenever I want so it is sort of like Netflix for games for me.

I'm game, here are the first batch of (26) games that I will play & attempt to finish (as in beat the main story mode & see the end credits) in 2014.

88/52 Finished : 2/52 100% Completed

1. Batman: Arkham Origins - Blackgate (Finished 1/2/14 - Total time 7 h 42 min)
Comment: I didn't really enjoy this game, mainly because occasionally the controls became non responsive and there was unnecessary backtracking which made for a lot of frustrating moments.

2. Mega Man X (Finished 1/3/14 - estimated total time 5 h 30 min)
Comment: I played & beat this game for the first time (cause I grew up a Genesis kid and didn't play a whole lot of SNES games) and I really liked it, so much so that I plan on checking out the other games in the series

3. Splatterhouse (Finished 1/6/14 - estimated total time 11 h 53 min)
Comment: I enjoyed playing this game for the most part despite it getting a bit repetitive towards the end

4. Rayman Legends (Finished 1/10/14 - total time 22 hr 40 min)
Comment: I really enjoyed playing this game and having finished the main game I plan on 100% completing it (all I got left is to rescue 160 teensies from the Origins levels, unlock 4 costumes, & win 6 creatures)

100% Completion status - has not changed since original post

5. DMC: Devil May Cry (Finished 1/10/14 - total time 9 hrs 49 min)
Comment: Solid game overall, but it has a forgettable story and some really ugly character models.

6. Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon (Finished 1/11/14 - total time 16 hrs 27 min)
Comment: This was an okay game, but I hope that if Nintendo does port this game to the Wii U that they remove some things that I felt hindered my enjoyment of the game (Mission based structure) as well as add new
content (expanded mansions).

7. Uncharted 3 (Finished 1/12/14 - total time 7 hrs 49 min)
Comment: I enjoyed this game though not as much as the previous game in the series, but then again Uncharted 2 is a tough act to follow

8. Super Mario 3D World (Finished 1/13/14 - total time 13 hrs 1 min)
Comment: At first I didn't really like the game as it felt too much like a rehash of 3D Land, but once I got past world 5 I started to getting into it a bit and began liking it especially the music (I've got the bowser world music
stuck in my head as I type this) and I am now working on 5 starring(aka completing) it......Also JSYK I've previously 5 starred the past 3 mainline Mario games (4 if you count NSLU) I've played (3DLand, NSMB 2, & NSMBU)

100% Completion status - beat all worlds including World Crown, got all in game stamps & stars as well as hit the top of all the flag poles (to make them gold), and all that I have left to do is to beat every level with the other characters (Luigi, Peach, Toad, & Rosalina) past world 1 (which has already been done).

9. Battlefield 4 (Finished 1/14/14 - estimated total time 8 hrs)
Comment: I managed to finally beat the game's single player campaign after having my progress erased on two occasions (one of those playthroughs I had managed to get to the story's halfway point) and it's about what you
expect for this type of game. One thing I will say is that some of the set pieces look beautiful and one of them managed to get turned into a pretty cool (imo) multiplayer map.

10. Borderlands 2 (Finished 1/15/14 - overall total estimated time 40 hrs +)
Comment: I really enjoyed the game for the most part especially the game's story, but I felt at times that it dragged on a bit too long. Still this is definite recommendation as a good chunk of the dialogue is hilarious.

11. Bioshock Infinite (Finished 1/19/14 - total estimated time 9 hrs 30 min)
Comment: I enjoyed the game for the most part though I can see why some people did not like the game especially when comparing it to the earlier games

12. Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag (Finished 1/24/14 - total time 20 hrs 2 min)
Comment: Solid game overall though I felt the story was kind of meh imo, still there was a lot to like about this game. I especially loved the treasure hunts & naval battles so I may come back to the game and go for 100%
completion.

100% Completion status - has not changed since my original post

13. Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D ( Finished 1/28/14 - total time 19 hrs)
Comment: Decent platformer for the 3DS, but the game's control option (or lack there of) made playing it for long periods a bit painful for me so I won't be trying to 100% complete this game anytime soon as it would require multiple playthroughs (Original & New modes) but still finishing Original Mode with a 72% completion rating isn't too bad considering I had not played the Wii version of the game.

14. Ghostbusters: The Video Game (Finished 1/30/14 - estimated total time 8 hrs)
Comment: Loved this game though I won't be 100% completing the game due to the online multiplayer trophies. Still this is definitely one of those games that I will revisit from time to time because of how much I like it.

15. Quantum Conundrum (Finished 1/31/14 - estimated total time 7 hrs 35 min)
Comment: This game was a bit meh overall as it is essentially a portal clone, but I will say that it has some funny dialogue as well as some challenging puzzles.

16. Muramasa: The Demon Blade (Finished 2/7/14 - total time 12 hrs 7 min, approx 7 hrs for Momohime's Quest & approx 5 hrs for Kisuke's Quest)
Comment: The jury is still out as far as the game's 2 overall stories go, but the game overall was fun to play and the art style is pretty good.

17. X-Men Origins: Wolverine (Finished 2/9/14 - estimated total time 9 hrs )
Comment: I forgot how much I had enjoyed playing this game even though the story sucked (cause it's mostly based off the terrible movie) and the gameplay does get a bit repetitive.

18. NES Remix (Finished 2/16/14 - total time 23 hrs 36 min to 3 star all 204 challenges)
Comment: I wasn't initially going to play this game, but my nostalgia for NES games got the better of me and I decided to tackle this game. While I feel that it didn't have $15 hrs worth of content (204 challenges total, 75 of which were remix challenges, & 100 unlockable stamps which are usable only through the game's Miiverse features) the game does have some really challenging remixes of the featured games ( Bonus Remix 25 is a very simple challenge, but is deviously long when compared to the other challenges) and it should definitely keep speed runners busy.

19. Hotel Transylvania (Finished 2/23/14 - total time 3 hrs 25 min)
Comment: Decided to try out this game out because it was a 2D castlevania esque game created by Wayforward and well....it's a horrible game, this has to be one of the worst 2D Wayforward developed games I've played. The entire game is (other than a boss fight at the end) nothing but fetch quests which occasionally unlocks one of five powers that help you get to new areas so you can do more G*( *(*n fetch quests. This game isn't even worth the $6 I paid for it and is definitely a game to avoid unless you're 5 years old.

20. Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Blacklist (Finished 3/3/14 - total time 17 hrs 32 min)
Comment: Storywise this game wasn't as good as the previous Splinter Cells though I did like that the gameplay was a nice mix between the new & old games and that the game was overall pretty solid despite the unusually long load times.

21. Remember Me (Finished 3/8/14 - estimated total time 11 hrs 20 min)
Comment: This game is forgettable and really repetitive

22. Crysis 2 (Finished 3/9/14 - estimated total time 6 hrs 39 min)
Comment: This was a decent FPS overall though it imo didn't really have anything mindblowing other than the beautiful graphics and some cool abilities like using stealth camo.

23. Metal Gear Solid 4 (Finished 3/10/14 - total time 15 hrs 41 min)
Comment: I'm tempted to leave a long winded post (mostly negative) about this game, but everything I was thinking about saying in regards to this game has already been said many times since it's release in 2008. So instead I will just say that this is one of my least favorite games in the MGS series and that it will be another 4 years before I attempt to replay this game again.

24. Steamworld Dig (Finished 3/16/14 - total time 4 hrs 53 min)
Comment: This was a fun though albeit short 2D Metroidvania style platforming game that will have you replaying it in an attempt to get a perfect run (4 gold stars) and I'm definitely glad that I got it while it has half off on the 3DS eShop.

25. Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze (Finished 3/20/14 - total time 11 hrs 50 min)
Comment: I recently got this game because I heard it was good and boy is it, I really enjoyed playing this game (more so than DKCR 3D) and will definitely try to 100% complete it eventually.

100% Completion Status - got the KONG for a few levels that I had previously missed and got two of the 9 (?) orbs (or what ever they are called) that you need to unlock the ruins/bonus world

26. Little Big Planet (Finished 3/21/14 - estimated total time 6-7 hrs)
Comment: I completely forgot that I hadn't finished this game's "story" mode and decided to go back and finish it.........now that I have I can see why I forgot about it, I didn't really get into it and felt it was a bit boring.

88/52 games finished : 2/52 100% Completed

27. Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes (Finished 3/22/14 - estimated total time playing the game 10 hrs )
Comment: I'm a big fan of the MGS series, but after hearing how short GZ supposedly is I decided to rent it instead and I'm kinda glad I did as the main mission is really short. I finished the main mission in 1 hr 30 mins with a B ranking my first time through and was basically taking my sweet time. Due to how short the game is I played through all the side missions including the extra op "Deja Vu" multiple times, getting S rank on all but 2 of the missions, a 72% completion rate, and all but 3 trophies in a 10 hr span.

28. Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time (Finished 4/4/14 - estimated total playing time 14 hrs 17 mins)
Comment: Just finished this game and while I don't think it's as good as the games in the original trilogy it's still a solid game and I for the most part enjoyed playing it.

29. Call of Juarez: Gunslinger (Finished 4/6/14 - estimated total playing time 7 hrs)
Comment: I recently got this arcade style FPS on sale for $4 through PSN and after playing through the game's storyline which is set in the old west I gotta say for that price it was a steal. I really enjoyed this game which has you going toe to toe with some of history's most infamous outlaws & lawmen more so than I expected when I first started playing and I hadn't even gotten around to touching the game's arcade & duel modes.

30. Bayonetta (Finished 4/9/14 - total time 10 hrs 32 min)
Comment: There were moments of this game that I enjoyed due to the sheer wtf factor and the gameplay for the most part was solid, but there were (for me at least) some truly frustrating moments that hampered my overall enjoyment of the game because of that this will be one of the games that I won't be trying to 100% complete.

31. Aliens: Colonial Marines (Finished 4/19/14 - est total playtime 8 hrs 45 min)
Comment: I went into this game knowing all about the horror this game wrought upon gamers & Aliens fans alike when it first released, but I decided to try and give it a fair shake. After it was all said & done I feel that this game was okay for the most part.......except for the lackluster end game "Boss Fight" and having to put up with the dumb AI in NPC O'Neil..........I really wanted to kill that sob. I also briefly played this game's multiplayer mode (when I could get enough people to start a match) and I actually liked it better than the main game.....for the most part. My only complaint with the multiplayer mode (other than no one being online) was that there were no tutorials to teach you how to play as the Xenomorphs, which I gotta say were kinda fun to play as.

32. Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin (Finished 4/21/14 - total playtime 8 hrs 54 min)
Comment: I'm a big fan of the "Metroid" style (aka Metroidvania) Castlevania games and this one is a direct sequel to one of my all time favorite Castlevania games (Bloodlines) so this one seemed perfect for me. At first I didn't really like it (especially the anime art style, anime opening intro), but now that I've finished it I gotta say that this this was a solid entry in the series and had some really hard boss fights especially the Memory of Whip & final boss fights.

33. Retro City Rampage DX (Finished 4/22/14 - total playtime 7 hrs 18 min)
Comment: I came into this game not knowing what to expect especially after hearing all the hype surrounding this game and I gotta say, I really enjoyed this game.....despite dying 254 times. This game really hits the retro sweet spot for me and I will definitely being replaying this game for years to come especially in order to finish unlocking (& beating) all the game's arcade challenges in arcade challenge mode.

34. Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons (Finished 4/23/14 total playtime 25 hrs 11 min)
Comment: I got this and it's sister game (Ages) last year (cause I had never played either before) but I hadn't really sat down to play either game until earlier this year (as part of this challenge) and this game was the one I was furthest along in. As for how I feel about the game well it's a solid Zelda game and I for the most part enjoyed playing despite some frustration on how to beat (and in some cases find) some of the game's dungeons. Now that I've finished this game and found out that if I entered the code I got at the end of Seasons in the Ages game I could unlock the "true ending" I might just start my Ages playthrough all over again.

35. Castle of Illusion HD (Finished 4/24/14 - estimated playtime 5 hrs)
Comment: I got this game as part of PS+ and while I have vague memories of playing the original this game felt a bit shorter than the original, though it's probably because this game felt a bit too easy to me even though I was playing on Normal difficulty.

36. NES Remix 2 (Finished & 100% Completed 5/2/14 - total laytime 28 hrs 7 min)
Comment: My nostalgia got the better of me again and I decided to get this game which is a sequel to a game I had played/finished earlier this year. In the comments section for that game I mention how I didn't feel it was worth the $15 I had paid to get it, well I feel the same way about this game. The only difference is this time I'm a little bit pissed off as it's a $15 game that had less challenges (169 vs. 204) than the first game, some of which weren't really challenges at all, you had to just sit there and watch the cinematic. Also the SLB & NWC modes didn't really add all that much to what was already there and in the case of NWC it had a poorly designed "leaderboard" which would automatically "reset" everytime you quit the game.

37. Super Mario World (Finished 5/4/14 - total playtime 13 hrs 7 min)
Comment: I came into this game only having played a handful of levels while checking the game out at a Walmart gaming kiosk when it first came out (91?) so this was the first time I actually sat down and played through the game. Now that I've finally played/beaten this classic Mario game I can definitely see why people think it is as good or better than SMB 3 and while I did like the game I felt that it wasn't good enough to surpass SMB 3 as the best "classic" Mario game in my eyes at least.

38. Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (Finished 5/6/14 - total playtime 20 hrs 21 min)
Comment: This was another classic SNES game that I had never played back in the day and I finally decided to sit down to play it as a part of this challenge especially after beating the game's spiritual successor (ALBW) last year. Having finally beaten the game I can see why it is considered one of the best if not the best game in the Legend of Zelda series, though it imo is not as good as the game's spiritual successor which in my eyes currently holds the top spot as the best game in the series.

39. Super Mario Bros 3 (Finished 5/7/14 - total time 5 hrs 26 min)
Comment: It's been so long since I played this game (about 20 years ago....I think) that I can't even remember if I had beaten it by myself prior to now (I do at least remember beating it in 2 player mode with a friend as World 8 kept kicking our butts), but once I started playing the game I was surprised at how much of the game had actually started coming back to me. This helped me to (for the most part) zip past the first couple of worlds (except for World 2) fairly quickly before taking a break to play NES Remix 2, which managed to help bring back some (but not all) of the memories I had of the later levels. In the end this game really held up for me as the best of the classic 2d Mario games and I really glad that I decided to revisit this classic game for the first time in years.

40. Gameboy Mega Man 2 (Finished & 100% Completed 5/8/14 - Total playtime 1 hr 49 min)
Comment: I picked up this game today on the 3DS eShop as I had fond memories of playing this game on the original Gameboy (I'm starting to sense something of a running theme here) and I gotta say this game wasn't as hard as I remember it being as I was able to zip through the first 4 robot masters in under 40 mins, Even Quint seemed easier than I remember, in fact the only difficulty I had (at least initially) was with Wily who became a bit of a cake walk once I figured out his patterns. Overall though I still enjoyed playing this game even though it is considered one of the worst Gameboy Mega Man games by the series creator and was easier that I remember it being.

41. Urban Trial Freestyle (Finished 5/13/14 - estimated playtime 7 hrs)
Comment: I got this as part of a $1 PSN flash sale because I (mistakenly it turns out) thought that it was made by the same team that made Trials HD which I had a blast playing on the 360, but considering how much I paid for the game it wasn't all that bad as it's essentially a Trials clone though it didn't have the same about of content or hilarious ragdoll physics imo as a Trials game.

42. Skullgirls Encore (Finished 5/14/14 - estimated playtime 3 hrs)
Comment: I got this 2D fighting game for free through PS+ earlier today since I'm a sucker for fighting games and couldn't resist spending all evening playing it. Now that I've beaten story mode with every available character (other than the paid DLC character) my feelings towards the game are mixed. It's a good 2D fighter that suffers from being too short (in other words the roster is small at 10 characters) and from there being the occasional sudden jump in difficulty when facing the final boss.

43. Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon (Finished 5/15/15 - total playtime 3 hrs 3 mins)
Comment: I came into this game hearing a lot of good things and decided to pick it up while it was on sale for $4. I kinda glad I did as it's a love letter to cheesy 80's sci-fi action movies and pop culture (which I kinda enjoy) with a neon color coating that runs on the Far Cry 3 engine. The only thing that disappointed me was that the game's story was a bit short.....not GZ short, but close as I was able to beat the game's 7 story missions in 3 hrs which left me wanting more. Also there wasn't much in the way of boss fights though there were some awesome looking future animals that also provided a bit of a challenge when trying to hunt. Still there is plenty left for me to do now that I've finished story and I plan on definitely trying to complete everything this game has to offer.

100% Completion status - has not changed since original posting

44. Metroid Fusion (Finished 5/18/14 - total playtime 3 hrs 53 min)
Comment: I came into this game having never played it before and now that I've beaten it I'm kicking myself for not having played it sooner. I really enjoyed playing this game especially the new game mechanics that allowed you to absorb enemies in order to replenish Health & Ammo. I also really liked most of the boss battles and the tension of having to hide from the SA-X throughout parts of the game.

45. Mario Kart 8 (Finished 5/31/14 - total time 11hrs +)
Comment: Picked up this game the other day and while I did actually beat/unlock all the cups on the day it came out (did it in about 2 - 3 hrs) as well as see the end credits I decided that since this game doesn't have a traditional story mode that the 10 hr rule applied. As for my thoughts on the game well, overall I am (for the most part) really enjoying the game (enough to want to try to 100 % it) though racing in the later cc's (especially 150cc) and online can be infuriating at times.

100% completion status - All characters unlocked, All 50cc cups 3 starred, All 100cc cups 3 starred, 4 150cc cup 3 starred, unlocked approx 75% of vehicle parts, unlocked Mirror mode, & earned 90 of 90 stamps

46. 1001 Spikes (Finished 6/15/14 - estimated total time 20 hrs)
Comment: I recently got this game because I'm a fan of 2D platformers and had heard that this game was good, but difficult. After beating the game's main story mode and dying over 2500 times I can say they weren't lyin, this game is both good & challenging. I thoroughly enjoyed playing this game (even though it kept kicking my butt) and finding/unlocking all the hidden items/characters scattered throughout the game. I also loved the numerous references to other 8 bit classic series like Super Mario Bros., Castlevania, Ghosts n Goblins, etc that were hidden (or in some cases in plain sight) throughout the game.

47. LIMBO (Finished 6/15/14 - estimated total time 4 hrs)
Comment: This was another one of those games that I had initially started playing a few year back, but had never gotten around to go back and try to finish it until now. As for my thoughts on the game, well it's a solid game with an interesting art/graphic design and some head scratching puzzles that (imo) relied to heavily on trial & error. I was also surprised by the game's abrupt ending which I honestly gotta say kinda pissed me off as I had expected there to be more to it than just boom, done, roll credits.

48. Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages (Finished 6/18/14 - total play time 23 hrs 27 mins)
Comment: As I mentioned in the comments for Oracle of Seasons I decided to restart this game in order to get the true ending and I'm kinda glad I did as the last two boss fights were really challenging (it didn't help that I didn't get the Master Sword) more so than I had expected. I for the most part enjoyed playing this game despite the not liking the in game trading system or occassionally getting lost ofter and spending every few hours trying to figure out what I needed to do next before having to resort to a guide.

49. Guacamelee! Gold Edition (Finished 6/21/14 - total play time 9 hrs 7 min)
Comment: This was another game that I originally didn't plan on playing (any time soon at least), but thanks to the generosity of a fellow gaffer ( thanks Clockworkinyou!) I got the chance to get this game on the PC. As for my thoughts on the game, well I enjoyed it for the most part, which isn't really surprising since I tend to like Metroidvania style 2D platformers and this game imo is one of the better ones. My only complaint with the game actually had nothing to do with the game and more to do with my decision to play this game using a keyboard instead of a controller. Playing the game on the keyboard became painful (for me at least) after extended periods of time and tempered some of my enjoyment of the game (made me want to speed run through it) so I highly recommend that if (or when) you play this game (at least if you play it on a PC) you do so with a gamepad/controller.

50. Shank! (Finished 6/25/14 - total play time 4 hrs 3 min)
Comment: This is another game that I didn't originally plan on playing, but thanks to the generosity of another fellow gaffer (thanks lashman!) I got the chance to get this game on the PC. Now that I've played through it I can say that it's a solid 2D beat em up with (imo) beautiful art work/design that evokes the style of a Penny Arcade comic. If you like 2D beat em ups, don't mind fairly short games (4 hours) with very little in the way of unlockables (there are like a dozen costumes and just as many acheivements), and enjoy the Penny Arcade art style then you might want to check this game out.

51. Shovel Knight (Finished 6/29/14 - total play time 5 hrs 21 min)
Comment: This is another recent pick up and like most of them it's another 2D platformer (I do love me a 2D platformer) that's pretty good. Though unlike the more recent 2D platformers I've played this game imo wasn't really that hard especially when compared to 1001 Spikes (I died like 200 times in this game which is a massive drop from the 2500 I had in 1001 Spikes), but is for the most part just as good even though it (for the moment at least) imo doesn't have as much content as 1001 Spikes. One area where this game really out shines the other 2D platformers I've played recently is the music (the in game and arranged songs), which is imo just fantastic (My favorite ones so far have been La Danse Macabre, Fighting with All Our Might, The Science Wizard, and The Rival) and is definitely worth checking out especially if you like 8 & 16-bit music. As far as complaints go other than some minor control issues that would occasionally pop up and the lack of content (which will be fixed in future patches/updates) I don't really have any complaints, this game is another solid 2D platformer.

52. Pikmin 3 (Finished 7/3/14 - total play time 10 hrs 9 mins)
Comment: I got this game as my free game through the Mario Kart 8 promotion and the reason I chose this game over Wind Waker HD (my other choice) was because I had never played a Pikmin game before (unless you count the Pikmin Adventures mini game found in NintendoLand) where as I had previously play Wind Waker on the Gamecube. So I was kinda curious to see if this game would be any good and overall I'm glad that I picked it as I ended up enjoying it more than I thought I would. The areas I really enjoyed were the challenging boss fights that span multiple "days", the new patched in touch controls, and trying to figure/plan what kinds of Pikmin I'd need each day to accomplish that day's goal. The one area I did not like in this game was the characterization of one of the captain characters as they really came across as very unsympathetic (almost down right greedy) and most of their "dialogue" for some reason just flat out annoyed me every time I read it.

System Breakdowns
PS3 - 35 (13 post challenge)
Wii U - 23 (8 post challenge)
3DS - 17 (8 post challenge)
DS - 1
Wii - 1
GBA - 1
PC - 7 (4 post challenge)
Xbox 360 - 2 (post challenge)
PS2 - 1 (post challenge)

Estimated Total Playtime - 920 hrs (took 589 to complete the challenge)

I think 52 is a bit ridiculous, the reason this works with Books/Movies in OT is that those are inherently short mediums, most games require a massive time commitment. It should be at most 26(One game every two weeks).

I'm game! No pun immediately intended.

Game 1: Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag - Started January 1st, 2014
I purchased the game, but have yet to start it. I have a hell of a backlog... So, I'll start here.

Game 2: Tales Of Xillia - Started August 6th, 2013 - Finished January 5th, 2014 (54 hours and 38 minutes)
I just finished it (Milla's Story) and I'll re-edit this when I finish Jude's Story.

Let's do this. I'll probably forget though and it's a bit much. Only managed 12 or so in 2013.

Game 1: Wonderful 101 - Jan 8, ~20 hours, Normal mode complete.
May continue playing on other modes but not sure yet.

Game 2: Ys II (PC) -9 hours

Game 3: Castlevania: Symphony of the Night - 13 hours

52 is gonna be a lot for me, considering I spend a lot of time playing an MMO (FFXIV), but hell, I'll give it a shot.

Will a game I'm playing right now count? Even tho I won't see credits roll till later this week?

Game 1: The Legend of Zelda: Windwaker HD [Wii U] 37:16
First Zelda game that I've gotten all 20 hearts. My god this game is a beaut!

Game 2: Mirror's Edge [PS3] ~7.5 hours
Well, I liked the concept and art direction of the game but the gameplay was just bad. Felt like sometimes she'd "snap to" jump and sometimes just bounce off, was really inconsistent and broke the immersion for me a lot, didnt like. I guess I could just be bad.

Game 3: Sin and Punishment: Star Successor [Wii] 7ish hours? I'm not sure how to see actual playtime on Wii.
SUPER fun game. One of the best Wii games overall, tough bosses and lots of just good old fun. Hidden Gem!

Game 4: Zack and Wiki: Quest for Barbaro's Treasure [Wii]13:46
Pretty fun and challenging puzzle platformer. Recommended by MetalJesusRocks Wii Hidden Gem YouTube series.

Game 5: Phoenix Wright: Dual Destines[3DS]42:35 (wtf?)
Reallly too long for such a simple game. Liked the characters and was surprised that a lot of the game wasn't as "serious" as I thought it would be.

Game 6: Limbo[Vita]~3 hours
Neat little game, awesome ambiance. Really kept me wondering what I'm doing and why, which is a really cool and unique feeling.

Game 7: Shinobi III [3DS] 4:48
Gaf recommended, I approve. Good music and some challenging levels. Happy I had a chance to play this.

Game 8: Castlevania: Lord of Shadows [PS3] 17:28
Wow this game was a lot better than I expected, the Cutscense were awesome and the monster design was great. I really like God of War style combat so I was pleased with that as well. Neat ending, can't wait for the second in Feb.

Game 9: Brothers: A Take of Two Sons [PS3] ~3 hours
Been waiting to play this game for a long time now, glad it finally came to PS+. Nice emotional story and fun twin sticks play. Had a great sense of adventure and made me kinda sad, reminded me of someone I know.

Game 10: Pokemon Y [3DS] 45:51
I'm sure this is considered a good game, but pokemon just isn't for me anymore, too easy, weak weak story and just 0 desire to catch any more pokemon than needed to win. Oh well, still happy I played one.

Game 11: Bravely Default [3DS] 74:57
Really loved the battle system and "old school" RPG feel, thoroughly enjoyed the hell outta this game, can't wait for more in the series.

Game 12: Donkey Kong Country Returns [3DS] 15:42
Actually the first DK game I've played, never owned a SNES growing up so never got into the series. Holy hell tho, way better level design and muchhhh harder than Mario. Some levels took me a while.

Game 13: Resident Evil: Revelations [3DS] 7:48
Been a while since we've had a good RE. Felt nice going through the ship in old RE series fashion, low on ammo a lot, fells good man. Good game, just too short.

Game 14: Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes [PS4] 1:25
Decent little taste of whats to come and next gen, obv a little too short and kinda pricey, but overall I welcomed a PS4 game.

Game 15: Infamous: Second Son [PS4] ~12hours (doesn't actually say.
Really fucking fun, really fucking pretty. Loved this game, just about to get the plat in a few mission, it'll only be my second plat so that says something. Hope this sells super well and get an even better sequel, Satisfied.

Game 16: Final Fantasy XIV: ARR, patch 2.2 The Second Coil of Bahamut [PC] ~50 hours or so
This is a really late post but we cleared Turn 6 and 7, World First on turn 8 and 9 both. Really solid patch, some great encounters that called for very solid raid execution.

Game 17: Kirby Triple Delxue [3DS] 9:10
Pretty fun overall, been forever since I've played a proper Kirby title. Last boss battle was nice and long, really enjoyed it.

Game 17: Watch_Dogs [PS4] 15 hours? Not sure doesn't say
Had a better narrative than I thought it would, solid voice acting. I played the game stealthy and hacked everything I could so it was fun, but I can see how it would just be ok if you played run and gun.

Game 18: Zero Escape: Virtues Last Reward [Vita] 45:06
I really love visual novels and I loved this game. This series reminds me of Saw movies in a way. I took 45 hours cause I didn't know you could "Jump" to any part of the timeline, sooo I replayed the whole thing till I was about 40 hours in, oooooppppss. Oh and I got the Platinum, which is part of what took so long.

Game 19: Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time [Vita] 15 hours
Never played a game in this series and it was on PS+, was going to go for the Plat but just got too bored with all the collectibles.

Game 20: Wild Arms [Vita] 27:14
Bought this on PSN flash sale for 99 cents and it was well worth it. I'm happy to finally have gotten into the series, man the chibi sytle battle graphics are sooo dated but the overworld still looks really sharp and colorful. Good game, excited to continue in the series.

Game 21: Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep [PSP] 31:11
FIrst KH I've finished in the series, really enjoyed everything about it for the most part, PSP graphics for this game really hold up well, although it's not that old I guess.

Game 22: Corpse Party [Vita] 9:06
Loved this game so much, great music, awesome atmosphere. Everyone needs to give this game a chance. So good.

Game 23: Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc [Vita] 28:58
Amazing characters, Monokuma is a great mascot in a game. Visual novels continue to deliver, can't wait to pop 2 in asap.

I think 52 is a bit ridiculous, the reason this works with Books/Movies in OT is that those are inherently short mediums, most games require a massive time commitment. It should be at most 26(One game every two weeks).

Fifty-two is a lot for sure but there are a lot of great games that are only a few hours long that you could play in between some bigger games. I guess it really depends on what kind of games you like though. If you only like RPGs, I guess you would probably be screwed.

I personally think it's a lot harder to get through that 50 books/50 movies challenge. The movies are easy but books can take me a while to read through. I always get so sleepy even if they are interesting. There's just no way I could get through almost a book a week unless they are all fairly brief.

Hm, why not? Should be a good way to keep track of everything I play. I'll start with three, although I've got a lot more, heh...

This is never going to happen for me. I don't buy many games in a year (though PS+ and discounts do help these days), and the ones I like I play to a sickly completion. The ones I don't feel enthusiastic about, I don't often finish.

SIGN ME UP!

If we're counting games in progress:

1: Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen (PS3) - 100+ hours
No way to check time played that I'm aware of, but it's got to be several days at this point. Definitely an Elder Scrolls level save file. I've been doing everything, and still haven't talked to the duke because I still gotta help Reynard get rare materials! I've maxed out 4 vocations (all archer types plus assassin) and I'm working on Warrior now as my fifth. Depending on how much more game is left, this could take a long time, as I am loving this game.

2: Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 (PS3)- 10+ hours
I've only done a couple levels of the campaign. Around level 30 in Multiplayer. Will deem this complete once I max out MP and finish the campaign. Got the game late last week, and I'm loving the MP. Campaign isn't too bad either, so it shouldn't take long

3: Fallout (PC) - 7-10 hours
Thanks GoG! I've obtained a water chip for my vault (and killed everything in Necropolis in the process, though I tried my darndest to repair that pump. I just didn't have the skills). Now I'm searching for the master and his ilk, though going about it a little slowly. I'll do Fallout 2 afterwards, and then Tactics, if that seems good.

4: Call of Duty: Ghosts (PS4) - 10+ hours
Around chapter 5 or 6 in the campaign, and something below level 20 in Multiplayer. One is boring and the other is frustrating. I've had the game since the PS4 launch, and I don't know when I'm going to beat it. I've escaped in extinction though!

5: Killzone: Shadow Fall (PS4) - 4-5 hours
I've reached chapter 4 in the campaign and this game makes me sleepy. It's beautiful, but sluggish to play. I'm not enjoying it as much as 2 or 3. Fortunately, my friend likes it, and we're playing through it together, so it'll get done soon enough.

6: Binary Domain (PS3) - 2ish hours
PS+ game. Pretty fun little third person shooter. If it's not too long, I should be able to beat it.

K: Knack (Knack) - Knack
Knack

I'll add more as I decide what games I'm down to play.

Not sure if 52 games is even possible for me in one year but I have backlog for it so at least I'll try! Though I'm happy if I can reach 26 games (thats one game in two weeks). Let's do this! :D If I try to play shorter indie games in between longer rpg's I might succeed. Hmmm...

Game 1: To The Moon (PC) - Finished Jan 1st
Completed in one sitting. This game is just... wow. Amazing.

Game 2: Gone Home (PC) - Finished Jan 1st
WTF did I just play? -_- I have no idea how to describe this experience.

Game 3: Super Mario 3D World (Wii U) - Finished Jan 4th
I started this before christmas. Some levels were soo hard. I thought I was good at platformers...? :D

Game 4: Alan Wake (PC) - Finished Jan 5th
Wow, I should have played this one earlier. Fantastic survivar horror with good story.

Game 5: Angry Video Game Nerd Adventures (PC) - Finished Jan 5th
AAAAARGH! The final boss was HARD it took me 1½ hours to beat that boss. Fun and unforgiving game for masochists. Makes me ANGRY!

Game 6: Dark Souls (PC) - Finished Feb 2nd
Bought it from steam xmas sale and one of the best 6€ I've spent on gaming. Can't wait for DS2!

Game 7: Duck Tales (NES) - Finished Feb 10th
One of my childhood favourites replayed. One of the best NES games I've ever played.

Game 8: Demon's Souls (PS3) - Finished March 22th
First playthrough and finished the game within one week. I can't belive I missed this earlier.

Game 9: Spyro The Dragon (PSVita/PSOne) - Finished April 6th
Completed 120%. This game was the reason why I wanted PS1 when I was a kid. It was still as awesome game as I remembered.

Game 10: Final Fantasy X HD Remaster (PSVita/PS3) - Finished April 21th
It's been 12 years since the last time I played this game and it still is as awesome as ever! Still trying to get rest of the trophys...

Game 11: Dark Souls II (PC) - Finished May 8th
I wish there were more games like Souls series. PC version was definetly worth the wait.

Game : Knytt Underground (Wii U) - 10 hours in
Intresting adventure, puzzle, platformer.

Game : The Legend of Zelda A Link Between Worlds (3DS) - To be started
# INSERT INFO AND COMMENTS HERE

11/52 games finished.

Here are my completed games

16/52 Completed
Game 1: Super Mario 3D World - 30 hours on 1/5
I got addicted to the bonus levels and getting all stars, stamps, etc. Ended up 4/5 Stars and all bonus levels completed, 80/85 stamps collected

Game 2: The Stanley Parable - 2 hours on 1/11
Fun game, but i think i've run out of known paths in the game

Game 3: Final Fantasy IV (PSP/Vita) - 30 hours on 1/15
Finally completed one of the few FF games left to be played. The PSP version looks amazing on the vita screen. Fun game, glad I got around to completing it this time. Last time i got 3/4ths through.

Game 4: Papers, Please - 5 hours on 1/18
Its a grind but its supposed to be. Pretty engaging though. I go 5 or so of the endings and have gone through all of the days of the game

Game 5: Dear Esther - 1.5 hours on 1/18
An adventure game that i heard about its distractors and i could see why, but once i got to the caves i loved the environments in that area. Made the journey worth it.

Game 6: Samorost 2 - 1 hour on 1/18
A point and click adventure game by the makers of machinarium. This is one of their earlier games and its short, but pretty good...except that last puzzle was bs.. You can really see the foundations that would make Machinarium a good game.

Game 7: Splinter Cell: Blacklist - 15 hour on 1/24
A good balance of old splinter cell and refinements added to ease stealth mechanic's rough edges. Much better than the last one that went too fact on the executes

Game 8: Tomb Raider - 18 hours on 2/21
A pretty fun reboot of the franchise. I enjoyed it enough to go collect everything and all challenges on the first go around. I prefer the Uncharted series more, but i would be interested in a sequel

Game 9: Thomas was alone - 5 hours on 2/22
Really fun puzzle game. Never gets too challenging, but mixes it up enough to keep you interested all the way through. Nice narration too. I'm glad i waited to play this on the vita. It felt like a perfect fit for the platform

Game 10: Broken Age Act 1 - 3 hours on 2/22
Ah my first backed kick starter and my first completed kick starter game. Not Tim's best work, but still a lot of fun. Its great to have Tim's writing style back in point and click adventures. It was also cool to see my names in the credits. One final note is its got me itching to go back and replay Full Throttle and Grim Fandango. Its crazy to me these two games aren't available digitally.

Game 11: Chrono Trigger - 25ish hours on 4/6
Great game that i've finished two other times but its been years. Went with the DS version and its an excellent port of the game. The 2 screen layout worked well. The one thing that CT really has going for it that helps it hold up so well is its one of the best paced RPGs. It never stays in one area or one dungeon or one plotline for long. Very snappy and fun

Game 12: Sonic the Hedgehog - 2 hours 4/9
One of my most played games and on replay its still amazing. It might be my favorite of the 3. Great music, great special stages, great zones (except the last one sucks).

Game 13: Streets of Rage - 1.5 hours 4/12
Not as good as SOR2 but its soundtrack is. And even with essentially 5 different enemy types the mechanics were still really good. It was a great foundation for the rest of the series

Game 14: X-men Arcade - 1 hour 4/12
Still might be my favorite x-men game...just ignore dazzler is in the game. And of the Konami brawlers its one that isn't as cheap as some of the other ones that were designed to drain your quarters. Die x-chickens!

Game 15: TMNT Arcade - 1 hour 4/13
Very fun but VEEEERY cheap. Man boss fights are just there to drain your continues. Thankfully with the 360 version i can power through some of those weaknesses. I need to replay Turtles in time to see which is the superior game again.

Game 16: Sonic 2 - 3 hours 4/13
I remember not liking this as much when i got it at launch and on replay im not sure why. The move to 2 acts per zone is a good one. Still has a good speed/platformer balance. The special zones aren't as good and i felt the music was slightly less enjoyable as the first but still a great game

I don't know if I'll be able to read 50 books, watch 50 movies AND play 50 games. Maybe if I stopped sleeping....

My goal is to read 24 books (I tend to pick lengthy books and Science courses in University usually require a lot of reading already), watch 356 movies, and now I guess complete 52 games.

One quick question, can already started games be eligible for this challenge? Or only new games?

Updated: 9/11/14

Games: 52/52

GAME 1: The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds -14 hours 47 min (5hrs in 2014)
#: I started this on Christmas, but I wasn't able to finish before the new Year, so this will be the first game I complete in 2014. I'm at the final dungeon now, really neat game although eerily similar to ALTTP which isn't really a bad thing.
#Beat the final boss
Status: Beaten! - 1/2/2014

GAME 2: VVVVVV - 2 hours
#: A pretty frustrating game. I felt the controls were really loose, so every time you moved and let go of the arrow key the character would move a little bit farther which was difficult getting use to, but it was free ($0.49 which was paid for with steam cards) and wasn't that long of a game, so it was worth it. I only collected 9 trinkets, but I saw the credits roll.
Status: Beaten! - 1/5/2014

GAME 3: Tomb Raider (2013) - 10-15 Hours?
#: I'm halfway through Tomb Raider (2013). It's pretty neat, but I don't really feel strongly in one way or another about it. I think it's cool you can back track and open up new areas with new equipment you find, but there's just no sense of urgency in the combat after playing The Last of Us. I think The Last of Us has really ruined cinematic action games for me because of how well crafted it is. The regenerating health in most modern games in this genre have really made me numb to the fact that a savage is running at me with a pick-axe. The story is also shit, voice acting is meh, and there's something about Laura's animation that is off to me. The bow is fun as hell to use though. I'm thinking I'll be finishing the story by the end of the week.
#: The game got better as you gained more equipment and opened up a little bit of exploration. I definitely felt the heavy influence of the Uncharted series throughout the adventure with certain scenes mimicking Uncharted. I thought it did do some things better than Uncharted though; you can quick travel back to and often times loop to previous areas when new equipment is found and it opens up new pathways. The weapon system is better, allowing Lara to carry all guns she receives unlike Uncharted where only 2 weapons can be carried at a time; however, Naughty Dog changed their system in TLoU to include carrying all weapons at once, and the ability to upgrade them. Tomb Raider also has side quests and objectives to fool around with which I thought was something improved on the uncharted formula.
#: The story and characters though... jesus. Some really shitty paranormal story goes on. Uncharted does those better. Lara has a bunch of weird college friends she hangs out with who tend to cheer her on and call her a badass after she saves them from getting eaten by presumably cannibals. Lara's main mode of transportation is falling. She's about as graceful as a drunk girl trying to find her dorm room on a friday night. I know they were trying to make her a strong female character, but watching her get hit repeatedly in the face by a bunch of men, Falling on her head or getting pierced through the stomach every couple of minutes, and wading through poop and blood rivers (which is a scene straight from Descent) just made me feel like they went overboard with trying to show she was strong and ultimately failed. Sure she survived something that she was literally impossible of surviving, but she didn't look extremely competent either when she just gets hurt in every conceivable way. I was falling down a waterfall once, and I pressed jumped by accident and Lara was impaled through the throat on a stick. Game Over.
#: I had a lot of fun with the game as it progressed, once equipment opened up and lite-exploration became available. As the gameplay expanded the story and characters kind of imploded, but it made for a good laugh. A drinking game could be made for the amount of falling Lara does.
Status: Beaten! 1/11/2014

GAME 4: Proteus - 31 minutes
#: An extremely interesting game. I bought it after playing and enjoying Dear Esther and hearing about it on GiantBomb's GOTY podcast. You just walk around pretty peaceful environments watching how they change as season's progress. The visuals were pretty charming and made the environments look rather beatuiful, and it was all done with what looks to be MS Paint (probably not, but it looks that way). Every animal and structure in the environment appears to have a different sound which was lovely to listen to. You do nothing but walk around, much like Dear Esther, but I find these games enjoyable and calming every once in awhile, and they don't last long enough to become irritating or grating.
Status: Beaten! - 1/11/2014

GAME 5: Dark Souls NG+++ - 15 hours
#: I wanted to do a really quick run through of Dark Souls before the game released. I also never played/bought/finished Artorias of the Abyss and had a NG+++ save file with a lordvessel, so this playthrough was me mostly doing the DLC content which was freaking amazing. Hyped for Dark Souls II.
Status: Beaten! -

GAME 6: Mark of the Ninja - 6 Hours
#: Really neat. I'm on the penultimate level right now. Cool stealth game.
#: The ending level was a little underwhelming. Just walk in a straight line, but the other levels were pretty awesome.
Status: Beaten! - 1/20/2014

Game 7: Zone of the Enders - 4 hours 26 minutes
#Pretty cool robots. Combat could get a little repetitive, and I cannot believe it was that short. I thought I would be going to Mars. Can't wait to play the sequel which is suppose to be better.
Status: Beaten! - 2/8/2014

Game 8: Zone of the Enders: The Second Runner - 8 hours 32 minutes
#An improvement over the first game with more hectic combat; however, the hectic combat doesn't always add up to the best camera scheme. Automatic lock-on can cause frustration when there are a hundred enemies on screen; there were a couple instances where the game really frustrated me because of this. It runs extremely smooth, and you get some extremely cool sub-weapons/power-ups late into the game.
Status: Beaten! - 2/11/2014

Game 9: Fire Emblem: Awakening - 17 hours 26 minutes
#I started it last year then stopped around chapter 18 for some reason or other. I picked it up again in late January, restarted the game and had a blast once again. It was on my GotY list for a reason last year. My 3DS activity log has over 200 hours in Fire Emblem, but that's because my girlfriend and I share the 3DS. She's gone through the game multiple times, and I've gone through it 1.5 times now. I finished the campaign with no one dying. I got 7 or 8 children too, until I just wanted to move on and finish the campaign. I'll go back and get the rest of the kids eventually.
Status: Beaten - 2/15/2014

Game 10: SteamWorld Dig - 4 hours 26 minutes
#Great Dig Dug-esque game with power ups. A little short, and I wish it had bosses outside of the final boss.
Status: Beaten -2/18/2014

Game 11: Rouge Legacy - 18 hours 26 minutes
#Started it late December and was hooked for a solid week, but got distracted with other games. It's an amazing game for anyone looking for a castlevania rouge-like. Praise the archmage with the time spells! They're an unstoppable force!
Status: Beaten - 2/28/2014

Game 12: Outland - 4 hours 33 minutes
#Really neat amalgamation of a classic Prince of Persia game and Ikaruga.
Status: Beaten - 4/10/2014

Game 13: Legend of Zelda II: The Adventure of Link - 10 hours and 18 minutes
#I know the internet has been asking for a Zelda in the style of Dark Souls, but that game has already been made. Zelda II felt extremely similar in many ways to Demon's Souls/Dark Souls; hidden areas, difficult combat, penalty for game overs including restarting from a central temple or hub and losing all exp points. I really enjoyed how different the game was from the rest of the series, especially how ganon was nowhere to be seen (except for game over sequence). It's importance to the series is usually understated. The journey to the great palace was terrible though...
Status: Beaten - 4/16/2014

Game 14: Crash Bandicoot - ~8 hours
#The game has an infuriating save system that sets you back a couple levels if you get a game over. Platforming could become pretty difficult, especially due to the added depth in 2D platforming levels.
Status: Beaten - 4/27/2014

Game 15: Persist - ~20 minutes
#Really short free to play indie game on gamejolt. I had some time in the internet cafe on campus waiting for my girlfriend to get out of class, and ended up finding this really neat game. It takes you through 3 or 4 levels and has a really interesting twist ending. I was debating whether or not to add this to my 52 games, but in the end it's a game, no matter how small or short, and the effort the developer put into it should be recognized.
Status: Beaten - 4/12/2014

Game 16: Gargantua ~ 3 hours
#Really great recommendation from this month's indie gaf thread. It's only 7 levels long composed of shadow of the colossus meets patapon-esque boss fights. Each boss fight is more difficult than the next. There was a lot of frustration on level 4 due to jumping into lava while trying to make my way across to the next level (this occurred after beating the Gemini). Anyway awesome game and I can't wait to play more of Schizoid's album.
Status: Beaten - 4/29/2014

Game 17: How Mosquito Became Human ~ 30 minutes
#Frog controls are extremely hard.
Status: Beaten - 4/29/2014

Game 18: Tower of Heaven ~30-45 minutes
#Really neat free little title with gameboy astetics. Can be a rather challenging platformer. Each new room brings about new restrictions on the character. For example, no walking left, no touching sides of blocks, no touching organic life, etc.
Status: Beaten - 4/30/2014

Game 19: Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back ~ 5 hours
#Better than the first game. Some of the level design can get repetitive though
Status: Beaten - 5/6/2014

Game 20: Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped ~ 5 hours
#The best crash of the 3 games. I collected all the crystals, but I don't want to bother with the gems. I saw the ending credits.
Status: Beaten - 5/7/2014

Game 21: Beneath the Surface ~ 10 minutes
#I've been playing a couple Ludum Dare challenges this year after learning about it. This was one of the entries highlighted on IndieStatik for the 29th Ludum Dare Challenge. Really neat game with a cool narrative. I'm really enjoying these small independent titles, especially now that I'm working 2 jobs.
Status: Beaten - 5/12/2014

Game 22: Where Gods Sleep ~ 20 minutes
#My second Ludum Challenge game today. It's been a really slow night at work; I needed something to do. I'll have to go back and see how the music is because I was playing with it muted, but the visuals are really something. It has an interesting light/dark world mechanic too. It was a little confusing to navigate though, and I didn't really know what the objective was until the end, but maybe audio cues help (if there are any).

Game 23: Titan Souls ~ 1 hour
#Pretty neat Ludum Challenge game. The ending was disappointing though.
Status: Beaten - 5/13/2014

Game 24: Midas ~20 min
#Winner of the 22nd Ludum Dare. Neat puzzle platformer.
Status: Beaten - 5/17/2014

Game 25: Spyro the Dragon ~5-8 hours
#Pretty good. I thought it was better than Crash Bandicoot. I thought the lack of any real goals other than collect treasure was a little boring at first as the worlds were pretty empty and expansive, but the collect-a-thon clicked a couple of worlds in. I'll be play the rest of the Insomniac Trilogy this year too. Skylanders is tempting...

Game 26: The Sea Has No Claim ~30-45 minutes
#A game by Lucas Pope, creator of Papers, Please, for the 29th Ludum Dare. Based off of the events of Flight 370. The player must search for crash planes in the sea and find them in a timely manner to save survivors of the crash. I completed all maps. It was pretty fun and each new area gives you access to new search methods. If the submarines (which save survivors after locating the crash) are not directly on the crash site then you fail which got annoying when my submarines were a couple pixels away from the crash site. Cool game over all though.

Game 27: Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage ~5-8 hours
#A lot more focused than the first Spyro game. Each world was unique and offered silly themes and locals. I collected 7,777 gems and 43 orbs. I'll probably take a little break from the Spyro trilogy and play a couple other games before coming back to start the third game.
Status: Beaten - 5/26/2014

Game 28: rain ~ 3-4 hours
#Very simple game with no real challenge, but the relaxing atmosphere of rain drops and Chopin along with the tense moments of being chased by the monsters really made me enjoy the game. Extremely concise and sweet.

Game 29: The Legend of Zelda - 5 hours 31 min.
#I've been working on this since I beat Adventure of Link. It was nice to go back and finally play the original. I had to use a guide to find all the secret areas, but I tried to do the dungeons without a map. I'm not sure how anyone could beat these games without looking up things because there are just so many hidden objects. Zelda II was the same in that regard.

Game 30: Monument Valley ~ 1-2 hours
#Really neat perspective puzzles. Beautiful atmosphere and the environment has some neat musical notes when played around with. It's definitely a contender for my favorite game released in 2014 at the moment.

Game 31: Ridiculous Fishing ~ 8-11 hours
#I got off of work today came home at 5PM and neglected everything to 100% this game. I basically played it start to finish. It's now 2:14AM and I can finally say that I've filled out the entire fishopedia. I caught all 66 fish. The Moray was the last one on the list and it was a nuisance to find. Such a great game. Vlambeer are quickly becoming one of my favorite developers.
Status: Beaten - 5/30/2014

Game 32: Metroid Fusion - 4 hours 35 minutes
#Really enjoyed the atmosphere. Gameplay and exploration relied too much on hidden pathways which was a bit annoying for navigation at times. Boss fights were awesome.
Status: Beaten - 6/6/2014

Game 33: The Plan - 8 minutes
#You're a fly. You fly up. The ending is great. It's free on Steam, and was made by the developers of Among the Sleep.
Status: Beaten(?) - 6/9/2014

Game 34: You Have to Win The Game - 2 hours 44 minutes
#Really fun free platformer on steam, sort of reminded me of VVVVV due to all the spike traps, but a lot less frustrating. I ended up getting 100%.
Status: Beaten - 6/12/2014

Game 35: Pandora's Tower - 14 hours 46 minutes
#I got a fairly bad ending (the game has multiple endings). It was very blunt way to end the game, so to get some closure I looked the true ending up online which was much more satisfying. I'm not sure if I would have to replay the game to see it, but having already gone through all the bosses and dungeons I don't want to do it again. The game is pretty neat. I enjoyed it much more than The Last Story, another title in the Operation Rainfall campaign. Very cool boss designs, challenging, and the dungeons had a good sense of verticality. A couple of the towers repeated themes which was somewhat annoying and the final tower with invisible warp points that you had to use perishable items to find was the biggest pain in the ass.

Game 36: Gravity Bone & Thirty Flights of Loving - 55 minutes
#While these are two separate games, Gravity Bone came packaged with Thirty Flights of Loving and is the prequel to Thirty Flights of Loving. Because both were so short and were played back to back in one sitting, I thought I should package them together on my list as well. Both had me smiling the whole time. I really loved the atmosphere and music.
Status: Beaten - 7/4/2014

Game 37: LOVE - 33 minutes
#A retro platformer with what looks like an Atari 5200 aesthetic. 12 levels all of which are filled with challenging platforms and a great soundtrack to accompany each level. The game ends up being a time trial. The faster you get through the level, the fewer checkpoints you spawn, and the less you die, the more your score goes up. Really cool experience.

Game 39: Frog Fractions - approx 1 hour
# I didn't understand... I understand now. I've heard GiantBomb mention this countless times, but when I went to play it a few months back, it seemed like an endless score base game about catching bugs with your tongue. I thought maybe it's just an addictive score game like Threes! But it didn't make sense the way it was talked about. I think it was Patrick who mentioned it's one of those games that the community doesn't want new players to be spoiled or told what it really is, and thus I realized I must have missed something... Man did I miss something. Play the game and remember to use the S key when you're ale to move using the WASD command.

Game 40: Blocks that Matter - ????
#I'm not sure how many hours it took to beat. Steam says I played for 33 hours, but for some reason after quitting the game it would still run in the background and steam was still clocking it as being played. It's a charming block puzzle platformer although the story was a little irritating and could have been done without. I didn't collect all the secret "Blocks That Matter," but I finished all the levels. I may go back to finish collecting the other blocks (I collected the majority of them), but as for now I'm ready to put the game behind me and move on to the next game.
Status: Beaten - 7/7/2014

Game 41: Bit.Trip Runner - 9 hours
#This endless runner platformer relies on repetition and muscle memory. The goal is to run to the end of the level avoiding obstacles and nabbing gold bricks along the way. The gold bricks are usually placed at a spot that looks easy enough to grab while running but usually end up needing precise timing to acquire. This level design is ingenious because often times I would impulsively jump for a gold because it was just a couple inches above me only to land and run straight into a wall. It creates a great challenge and the addiction of perfects runs causes many redos.
Status: Beaten - 7/14/2014

Game 42: KAMI - 10 hours
#Really neat puzzle game made out of construction paper. The goal is to make the board into one color by changing colors of the paper tiles on the board. It's a really good thinking outside the box training. I ended up going through all the puzzles about 81 or so puzzles and managed a 100%.
Status: Beaten - 7/17/2014

Game 43: Dark Souls 2 - 39 hours 35 minutes
#It's a strange feeling coming to the end. The journey didn't feel extremely long; it could sometimes feel disjointed, especially in area sizes which were all relatively small. It felt very different from Dark Souls, yet it was the same. If I could relate it to any other gaming experience it would be Metal Gear Solid 2 where the purpose was to set up a retelling/dramatization/training based on the first game. The retelling and recycling of old things into new things isn't a negative to me. It gives it familiarity while making it distinct which is pretty impressive. It also ties into the narrative of the game.

Game 48: Bravely Default: Flying Fairy - 59 hours 33 minutes (Time taken from 3DS activity log)
#I picked this game up at the beginning of the year and played 40 hours of it. I got to the end of chapter 4 and put it down because the semester and work were becoming very busy. I was also not looking forward to the game becoming groundhog day in the second half. I went on vacation for a week to visit some friends and family at home, and I brought my 3DS with me for the trip. I decided to plow through it now while I have the free time. The last 4 chapters were annoying, but they were rather brief as I basically let the game auto-play through boss battles. The final bosses were pretty cool, and it ended on an interesting premise. After the first 40 hours, RPG fatigue was setting in, so it's always nice to pick up a game that you initially enjoyed again after the fatigue wears off.
Status: Beaten - 8/14/2014

Game 49: Beyond Two Souls - 8-10 hours
#Interesting plot and had some nice scenes, but it was bogged down by terrible combat prompts, unintentionally hilarious moments (I'm listing this as a negative because they were unintended although they were a joy to watch the scenes implode), and superficial choice making although the final segment had a lot of variety in option.

Game 51: Gone Home ~ 2 hours
#What a wonderful game. Rummaging through the house reading personal notes, childhood stories, school assignments, and listening to the audio entries really brings the characters to life. If I had played this last year, and I really should have, it would have bumped a couple games off my top 10.

Sounds like fun, I'm in

Game 1: Puppeteer - 10 hours - Finished 1 Jan
Such a beautiful game, gorgeous artstyle, and a surprisingly good story, constantly charming and surprising.

Game 2: Last of Us - 21 hours - Finished 5 Jan
I didn't think I'd like this after playing the uncharted trilogy, but I enjoyed it a lot. Had a great story and fun gameplay. Liked the characters as well, but nothing (aside from the opening) really affected me on an emotional level.

Game 3: Tearaway - 7 hours - Finished 12 Jan
Wonderful game, not quite as good as Puppeteer but still brilliant. Makes excellent use of the vita's features. An excellent ending as well.

Game 4: Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy - 20 hours - Finished 20th Jan
Pretty cool game, but it had some really hard parts. Managed to get 100% of collectables. Going to start Jak 2.

Game 5: Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty - 10 hours - Finished 30th Jan
Enjoyed this game, though I did suck at it. The story did get a bit wierd towards the end though.

Game 6: The Wolf Among Us Episode 2: Smoke and Mirrors - 1 hour 30 minutes - Finished 7 Feb
Quite like this episode, liked the twists, not as much action as episode 1 though.

Game 7: Jak II - 20 hours - Finished 23 Feb
Liked it, but not as much as the original, stuff like the huge crowded city hub, lack of checkpoints and some really frustrating sections brought down what was otherwise a decent game.

Game 8: The Walking Dead Season 2 Episode 2: A House Divided - 2 hours - Finished 5 Mar
Really tense episode, really liked how the story went. Can't say too much though due to spoilers.

It's not like i'm ever gonna put anything here.

Game 1: Antichamber - 5 hours
# Was a little weird at first, but I thoroughly enjoyed it by the end.

Game 2: DayZ - 18 Hours
# Really great immersion in this game. It has a way of making you feel constantly tense and on edge, as if you could die any second. Wouldn't play it alone though since it's practically impossible on a populated server (unless you're really sneaky).

Game 3: Assassin's Creed IV - 22 Hours
# Story was meh IMO., but then again i'm not really a fan of assassin's creed. Have to admit though, the gameplay was incredible. Every part felt so polished and well done. Was kind of disappointed by the PhsyX update, but it doesn't take away from the fact that this was an amazing game.

Game 4: Metro Last Light - 3.5 hours (Havn't beaten it yet)
#

Game 5: Gone Home - 3 hours
# It felt like it lacked continuity, otherwise a very interesting experience.

Game 6: Next Car Game Alpha - 1 hour
# "Beat" is a relative term for this game since it doesn't have a gameplay goal yet, but i can't wait to see what the devs are going to do with the engine.

Game 7: Outlast - 6 hours
# Freaking beautiful and demented game at the same time. The story complements the gameplay perfectly. It's rare to see a horror game like this with underlying subliminal messages and overarching character progression.

Game 8: Just Cause 2 - 18 hours
#

Game 9: Godus - 16 hours
#

Game 10: Civ 5 - 20 hours
#

Game 11: GTA IV - 16 hours

Game 12: Euro Truck Simulator 2 - 26 hours (Still playing)

Game 13: Dark Souls - 84 hours <--- Fuck that
#

Game 14: Dark Souls 2 - 29 hours (So far) <--- Fuck this too

I think 52 is a bit ridiculous, the reason this works with Books/Movies in OT is that those are inherently short mediums, most games require a massive time commitment. It should be at most 26(One game every two weeks).

Books are inherently short?

20131231_223805_zpsbfa2c2ff.jpg

Brothers K. is about 702 pages of 8 point font.
Infinite Jest is 981 pages of 8 point font + 96 pages of footnotes in an even smaller font size.
Gravity's Rainbow is 776 pages.

Books can take an extremely long time depending on how fast and thorough you read and how long the book is.

This looks like a nice way to keep track of what I'll play in 2014. Seems like fun, although I doubt I'll hit 52 games. Won't have much time to play games until the Spring probably due to my job. We'll see what I can finish that I'm currently in the middle of before work picks up.

January

Game 1: Volgaar the Viking - 3 hour run, 6 hours total according to Steam
First game of the year down! I bought this last year, played it here and there, but never set time aside to give it my full attention. I was randomly browsing my Steam library tonight and I decided to give it a run. Ending up finishing the game for my first time in one sitting. Got Ending C (which I'm assuming is the worst?), but I didn't level skip so I feel relatively good about my run. I received a credits roll so that's good enough in my books. I would like to try and get the other endings, but that's going to take some dedication/time that I really don't have right now.

Vita:
Ys: Memories of Celceta

Xbox One:
Ryse: Son of Rome

PC/Steam:
1000 Amps

PS3:
Rain
Rage

My goal is to read 20 books (I tend to pick lengthy books and Science courses in University usually require a lot of reading already), watch 356 movies, and now I guess complete 52 games.

I'll reserve a spot for the game sections of this, and if you guys want you can keep track of my other goals on my blog I just started: Iridiumtipped.wordpress.org. Sorry if this sounds like just another plug, I don't want it to be shameless advertising of a blog. I'm just excited to share with people what I'm reading, playing, watching and listening too.

I'll make a commitment to stick with this thread though throughout the year though as well as my blog. One quick question, can already started games be eligible for this challenge? Or only new games?

Ok, I'm in. Not gonna make it though, but whatever. My (actual) plan is to go through 35 games this year. In 2013 I managed to beat 24 games.

My backloggery.
Feel free to add.

Btw, is it ok if I count games that I'm gonna 100% (platinum trophy, all achievements etc.) this year, even though I have beaten (story completed) them before? I'm usually gonna restart them anyway and 100% completeion is a separate entry in the backloggery.com, which I'm using. FAKE EDIT: So if I'm understanding the FAQ correctly, it's okay? Great.

Reserved.

Finished:

1. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Dual Destinies (3DSDL) - 32 hours
So this was the first AA game I ever played. And now I am a fan. Surprisingly long, great writing. The game is full of waifus too. I'm gonna play the DLC case once I complete the earlier games. 4 out of 5.

2. Ratchet & Clank: Nexus (PS3) - 7 hours
Beaten on Legend. A solid entry. Plays it safe. Short and cheap. I love the series. 3 out of 5.

3. Moon (DS) - 11 hours
FPS on the DS. Technically great; smooth frame-rate. Very repetitive, but fun, because touch-screen aiming feels unique and works well. 3 out of 5.

4. Spyro the Dragon (PS) - 12 hours
120% completed. Fun, simple, colourful and easyish. Fuck Tree Tops -> Youtube walkthrough. 3 out of 5.

5. Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back (PS) - 6 hours
Main storyline finished (53%). The game is fun, but hasn't aged perfectly. Some cheap deaths, questionable camera angles and recycling of old levels. I mean, by today's standards it's odd that the game has 25 levels, but even then all of them are not unique theme-wise! There are like 5 different types of levels. 3 out of 5.

6. Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped (PS) - 6 hours
Main storyline finished (31%). Maybe slightly better than its predecessor. Still hasn't aged perfectly and annoying parts are still there. Little more variation: now there are like 6 different level themes, not 5, lol. You play the game for the first time in 2014 and that just feels strange. So yeah, I'm not the biggest fan. Still enjoyable overall. 3 out of 5.

7. Battlefield 4 (PS4) - 15 hours in (multiplayer)
Finished the campaign on Normal in January. I have played the MP more than 10 hours this month, so I though I'll include it in here. My first BF. What can I say? Really fun and I'm slowly getting better, maybe. At one point my K/D-ratio was something like 0.69 and now it's 0.95, I think. Leveling up is very slow, though. Rank 12 currently.

In progress:

1. Assasin's Creed (X360) - 4 hours in
I've only played once so far. Already repetitive. Feels mediocre. Ugly. But I gotta keep going... :/ Great historical atmosphere, though.

2. The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap (GBA) - 4 hours in
Mount Crenel. God, I suck at these games. Puzzles everywhere. Just found out that you can throw bombs in this. Cool, no wonder I got stuck. Nobody told me and I've lost the manual. I'll get back into this...

3. Tomb Raider: Denifinite Edition (PS4) - 4 hours in
19% completed. I didn't play the original. Looks absolutely stunning. Better Uncharted than Uncharted. Great pacing.

4. Gyakuten Saiban (DS) - 4 hours in
PW: AA. Has an English option. Episode 2, day 3. Feels and (stylistically) looks exactly like Dual Destinies.

5. Battlefield 4 (PS4) - 15 hours in (multiplayer)
See above.

6. Mario Tennis (3DS GBC VC) - 10 hours in
Senior Division. It's really fun, but matches have been little too easy so far.

Game 1: Tomb Raider III: Adventures of Lara Croft (PC) - 13hrs 34 mins
All levels (including All Hallows) complete along with all secrets found. If it wasn't for the unlimited saves on the PC version I don't think I would've had the patience to finish this one. Definitely felt like the "Demon/Dark Souls" of the Tomb Raider series as far as the brutality of traps and such go.

Game 2: The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds(3DS) - 10 hrs 6 mins
Main story along with some random side quests complete with zero deaths. While this wasn't my favorite 2D Zelda title (I only prefer it to the DS games) I definitely enjoyed this more than any Zelda game since Twilight Princess.

Game 3: Rain (PS3) - ~3 and a half hours
I was a bit disappointed with this one. The atmosphere and graphics were great but overall it just felt really repetitive. It was definitely worth the price I paid in the sale still.

Game 4: Resident Evil: Director's Cut (PS1) - 3hrs 18 mins **
Played through as Jill. This was my very first time completed the Arrange mode.

Game 5: Resident Evil 2 (PS1) - 3 hrs 42 mins **
Played through Claire A on Normal and got a B rank. Didn't enjoy this one nearly as much as I remembered. :(

Game 6: Resident Evil 3: Nemesis (PS1) - 3 hrs 59 mins**
First playthrough on Hard mode and ended with a C rank. A bit combat heavy but probably my favorite PS1 era RE game behind the original.

Game 7: Resident Evil: Code Veronica X HD (PS3) - 11 hrs 1 min
First full playthrough of this game for me. My second favorite classic RE behind REmake. Not one of my finer moments as a hardcore survival horror fan though. D rank, 21 saves, and 11 retries. I thought I was trapped at the first Alexia boss fight because I only had the knife but I finally got through.

Game 8: Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons (PS3) - ~3 and a half hours
Short and sweet. Probably my second favorite game released in 2013. (Just behind TLOU)

Game 9: Resident Evil: Outbreak (PS2) - 3 hrs 28 mins
I really liked this one outside of some issues (usually related to the AI). The scenarios were perfect in length and I enjoyed each one. There was a nice challenge between inventory management and trying to keep yourself/the AI partners alive as well.

Game 10: Resident Evil: Outbreak File 2 (PS2) - 2 hrs 57 mins
More of the same from the first. The ability to tell your AI partners to use items was appreciated. The final scenario was a bit long for my liking (especially with the multiple bosses and other dangerous things near the end) and the subway scenario is by far the lowest point of any RE title I've played.

Game 11: Dark Cloud (PS2) - 33 hrs 28 mins
Still a fantastic game to this day. The georama/town building aspect is by far my favorite part. I wish more games had things like that. Even without all of the improvements I've preferred this one to the sequel for some reason. There's an atmosphere that I haven't experienced in any other game, that's hard to explain.

Game 12: Disaster Report (PS2) - 4 hrs 44 mins
Finally completed this one on this attempt. Still enjoy this a lot. Too bad we haven't seen any similar titles.

Game 13: Beyond Good and Evil HD (PS3) - ~11 hrs
Was pretty letdown by this one. A lot of the gameplay elements felt clunky to me. The ending was pretty annoying as well. I hope for the sake of the hardcore fans that we get a sequel someday. I might even check it out just to see what happens to Jade and Pey'j.

Game 14: Cook, Serve, Delicious (PC) - 21 hrs (Steam playtime)
Platinum star restaurant with all side events completed. 34/43 achievements. I really liked this one overall. I just wish it was a bit less grindy (20 days required for each star level.)

Game 15: Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation (PC) - 14 hrs 16 mins
Completed the game with all secrets. Probably up there with 3 as my favorite Core TR title. The level design is just fantastic here and I didn't mind the backtracking as others did. I had to give up and use a walkthrough about halfway through however. :(

Game 16: Tomb Raider: Chronicles (PC) - 6 hrs 38 mins
Completed with all secrets. Was really let down by this one. It felt like an overly simplified version of the previous Core TR titles (I died under ten times.) All of the levels/sections were bottom tier TR levels except for the Ireland/young Lara levels. If the rest of the game was as atmospheric as those levels I might have been able to forgive the other issues at least a bit.

Game 17: Blackwell Legacy (PC) - 2 hrs 20 mins
A cute little point and click title. In parts it felt reminiscent of the Hotel Dusk games due to location and some of the character interactions. Definitely looking forward to playing the other three. Might go back to cleanup the achievements that I didn't grab.

Game 18: Blackwell Unbound (PC) - 1 hr 29 mins
More of the same from the original. I thought how they made a prequel with older looking graphics was really cool. I have two more in the series and can't wait to get to them. I just wish these were a little longer. :l

Game 19: The Walking Dead: Season 1 (Vita) - ~11 hours **
Played through this one again for fun. Made different choices from past playthroughs (rude to Kenny constantly, saved Doug, etc.) Can't wait for the rest of Season 2 to release.

Game 20: Blackwell Convergence (PC) - 2 hrs 12 mins
Probably my favorite of the four games released so far. The atmosphere in these games is so fantastic. I also really like the soundtrack and will be purchasing those as soon as possible.

Game 21: Blackwell Deception (PC) - 2 hrs 36 mins
Another fantastic Blackwell title. These are probably my favorite point and click titles. I've always been pretty indifferent towards the genre but these have made me want to check out more. I'll be playing Gemini Rue soon and am looking forward to the final Blackwell title.

Game 22: Mass Effect (PS3) - 40 hrs 18 mins **
Starting another series playthrough. Definitely my favorite of the three games. Saved Kaidan, didn't kill Wrex, made mostly paragon decisions, and romanced nobody to set up the Kaidan romance in 3.

Game 23: Tearaway (Vita) - ~8 hrs
Absolutely loved this one. The art style is incredibly charming and this is one of the few Vita games to make use of the various touch pads and what not. The gyro controls for the platforms in one of the last levels were an absolute mess though. It's too bad that this one sold so poorly because I thought it was definitely better than all of the LBP titles. The only thing I prefer LBP for is the level editor and that wouldn't really make sense here.

Game 24: Lone Survivor: Director's Cut (PS3) - 2 hrs 58 mins
First playthrough. Will definitely be going back for more endings. This is both one of the best indie titles i've played but also the best survival horror title in years for me. The atmosphere and soundtrack were similar in quality to my favorite horror titles. There was a bit of an unexpected difficulty spike in the basement because I was doing a playthrough without rotten meat for the trophy but otherwise I fully enjoyed this one. <3

Game 25: Gemini Rue (PC) - 3 hrs 24 mins
Another fantastic adventure game from Wadjet Eye Games. Absolutely loved the overall atmosphere, art style, and soundtrack in this one. Might have to go back and play through again for the commentary someday.

Game 26: Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness (PC) - 9 hrs 18 mins
So I really liked this one. I know the glitches and controls are constantly complained about but I truly think if you play round with the control settings enough you shouldn't have a problem if you were able to play the earlier Core titles. The glitches also didn't seem to be anywhere near as bad as people made them out to be. This might have been due to the most recently patched/updated Steam version however. One thing that was really disappointing more than anything was the removal of secrets. There were some tricky health/ammo placements that would have made sense as secrets to me but what do I know. It's really too bad about the unresolved cliffhanger and removed content here because I really enjoyed this one more than any of the following games.

Game 27: Tomb Raider Legend (PC) - 4 hrs 42 minutes **
Easily my least favorite TR title overall. Too short and easy. Plus I somehow had more trouble with the camera and controls here than I did in any of the others. The automatic ledge grabbing was a mess in areas where there were multiple paths to take. A specific example would be the Gym in the Croft Manor. Trying to jump to a certain pole would sometimes result in Lara pretty much changing directions midair just to grab something else. This might be a PC thing though because I don't remember having issues in the 360 version.

Game 28: To The Moon (PC) - 3 hrs 30 mins~ **
Replayed because of the new trading cards and it's been awhile since I played the first time. Great RPG Maker title.

Game 29: Final Fantasy (PS1) - 16 hrs 18 mins **
Noticed I had a save for this recently. Decided to go back and finish it. This was my second playthrough of the game and my first time through on Normal difficulty (Origins version). I really enjoyed this one for what it is. The random battles are annoying but they weren't enough to stop me from playing. I've been meaning to play through the series for a long time now so I'll probably work on the others.

Game 30: SigCorp - Holiday Special (PC) - 20 mins
A nice little bonus chapter after To The Moon. I look forward to the next entry in the series if we get one.

Game 31: Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Trials and Tribulations (DS) - 22 hrs~ **
A fantastic close to the original Ace Attorney trilogy. Powerhouse moments and cases all over the place. The last half or so of 3-5 ranks near the top of my favorite all time gaming moments.

Game 32: Final Fantasy II (PS1) - 16 hrs~
Pretty okay. Definitely not as bad as people make it out to be at least. On par with the original.

Game 33: Blackwell Epiphany (PC) - 3 hrs 54 mins
A fantastic send off for the Blackwell series. Great story, voice acting, graphics, and the longest in the series on top of it.
Definitely wasn't prepared for such emotional devastation though.

Game 34: The Cat Lady (PC) - 6 hrs
Fantastic atmosphere, great soundtrack, and the art style really reminded me of the "Scary Stories To Read In The Dark" books from my childhood. I don't usually mention things like this but I truly think some trigger warnings wouldn't be out of place for this one. People with mental illnesses or anyone who doesn't like violent/sexual images should definitely do some research before they play. Probably some of the more intense things I've seen in a video game.

Game 35: Dysfunctional Systems: Learning to Manage Chaos (PC) - 1 hr 18 mins
Nothing overly exciting or great about it. Just a somewhat below average visual novel. Was really put off by the art gallery and some of the achievement names. Will pass on the future entries.

Game 36: The Walking Dead: Season 2: Episode 3: In Harm's Way (PC) - 2.5 hrs~
Probably my favorite episode from this season so far. Carver was a fantastic villain and I'm really looking forward to seeing where things go from here.

Game 37: Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D (3DS) - 8 hrs 21 mins
Not sure how I feel about this one overall. The original DKC trilogy along with DK64 are some of absolute favorite games of all time but this one just fell a bit flat. The soundtrack was nostalgia overload and the levels looked great but it lacked charm in my opinion. At times the controls felt loose and the rocket barrel levels were among the worst levels I've played in any platformer. Maybe platformers just aren't for me anymore. I'd still be up for giving Tropical Freeze a rental if/when purchase a Wii U though.

Game 38: Yoshi's New Island (3DS) - 8 hrs 2 mins
Probably the most disappointing game I've played in at least a year or two. I know the general opinion of the game has been generally mixed but a piece of me still wanted to love this one. Not sure what they were thinking with most of the music, difficulty, and level design.

Game 39: Splinter Cell Blacklist (PS3) - 10 hrs~
Played through the single player missions before sending back. Really enjoyed this one. I wish the levels had more paths and were a bit less linear though. I'll definitely go back and play the previous titles in the series now.

Game 40: Sonic Adventure 2 (PS3) - 4-5 hrs~
I was surprised to dislike this one so much after I played Sonic Adventure to full completion last year and enjoyed most of it. The side character missions were an absolute drag here and the camera is too much. I completed the Hero missions and decided to call it a day since I don't particularly care to play through variants of what I just played through to unlock an extra stage/bit of story.

Game 41: Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back (PS1) - 5 hrs~ **
Still my favorite Crash game to this day. Was going for 100% but gave up somewhere around the "Road to Ruin" level.

Game 42: Grand Theft Auto III (PC) - 17 hrs 30 mins
Owned this one on PC and PS2 across the years but I've never actually completed the story until now. Still one of my favorite GTAs and overall sandbox titles. This definitely got a lot harder than I expected later on. I actually had to use a cheat code for the last mission :(. The atmosphere in this game is something that I think hasn't been matched in any of the other GTA titles. Liberty City feels truly unwelcoming. I also spent a fair amount of time collecting all of the packages on the first two islands, might go back to do the third. Only complaints would be lack of the map in the menu and the constant attacks from the gangs. Glad I finally finished this.

Game 43: Castle of Illusion HD (PS3) - 2 hrs~
Cute little platformer. Really easy for a somewhat expected spike in difficulty with the last boss but otherwise a really enjoyable time.

Game 44: Resident Evil 4 HD (PS3) - 13 hrs~ **
I don't really have much to say about this one that hasn't already been said by now I'm sure. Didn't enjoy this one as much as I had in the past this go around. The highlight of the game was definitely the castle sections (4-1-4-3 in particular) with the village section being okay and the island being pretty bad in my opinion. Playing this on the Wii definitely spoiled me as far as difficulty/controls go, I definitely died a lot more than I'd expected. Just 5, Revelations, 6, and maybe ORC to go and my RE series playthrough will be done.

Game 45: Pac-Man Championship Edition DX+ (PC) - 2 hrs 20 mins
Played through at least one mode on each board. Will definitely be spending more time with this one but I figured it was acceptable to mark this as complete for now.

Game 46: Bastion (PC) - 7 hrs 48 mins
Really mad at myself for not getting around to this one much sooner. I owned this originally on XBL as well but never tried it for some reason. This is not only one of the best games I've played this year so far but also somewhere among my most enjoyed games from last gen. Just a really charming game. I can't wait to go back and play through again.

Game 47: Broken Sword II - The Smoking Mirror: Remastered (PC) - 3 hrs 36 mins
Must have had this one from a bundle or something because I never really pick up a series with anything but the start outside of extreme cases. Nice little point and click adventure title. Really enjoyed the art style and humor here. George is one of the most charming protagonists I've played as in recent memory. Will definitely be trying the rest of the series now.

Game 48: Defy Gravity Extended (PC) - 1 hr 36 mins
Picked this one up at the end of the steam sale after seeing it recommended on here. Mixed feelings on this one. Great soundtrack, presentation, and overall idea but the execution felt a bit flawed. Some issues with mechanics, controls, and technical issues really dragged this one down for me in the end.

Game 49: Doki-Doki Universe (PS3) - 6-7 hours
Cute little game marred by frequent freezing issues. The game would commonly freeze whenever you would spawn and item which happens a lot. Otherwise I really enjoyed the story, characters, and overall feel of the game. Would definitely play a sequel or something of the sort.

Game 50: Cinders (PC) - 4 hrs 12 mins
Fantastic re-imagining of Cinderella in VN form. Really enjoyed the art style and characters here.
Originally got the fairytale ending with machiavellic queen, Perrault as a love interest, and no adviser. Went back and got the traveler ending with Perrault as a companion.
Will definitely be going back to this one for the story variants and achievements.

Game 51: Richard & Alice (PC) - 3 hrs 6 mins
Interesting VN/point and click title with a really bleak atmosphere. Will go back for the endings and other achievements someday.

Game 52: 140 (PC) - 43 mins
Fantastic rhythmic platformer with one of the better soundtracks I've heard in a game recently. Everything about this game felt just right. Don't think I'll be attempting the mirror mode though. I'm not every good with permadeath modes/games.

Game 53: Vessel (PS3) - 7 hrs~
Played this one to 100% completion. Nice little puzzle game. Some of the mechanics were a bit off when precision was required and a few of the achievements/trophies were incredibly finicky (possibly glitched?) to pop but I enjoyed this one overall.

Game 54: Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc (Vita) - 20 hrs~
Was really excited to play this one since decent VNs with darker stories seem to be hard to come by, especially in the US. Characters, plot, and setting were all enjoyable. Played through the story in full and plan to sweep through school mode for the remaining trophies, then will be picking up the sequel sometime around/after release.

Game 55: The Amazing Spider-Man (PS3) - 13 hrs, 36 mins
Completed this one fully. Game was much better than I expected. Spider-Man games have been really hit or miss with me but the web swinging and combat in this one felt pretty nice. Probably my favorite Spider-Man game behind Spider-Man 2 and Ultimate Spider-Man.

Game 56: The Walking Dead: Season 2: Episode 4: In Harm's Way (PC) - ~2 hrs 30 mins
Season really dipped in quality for me here.
Not a fan of how the deaths and overall development (or lack thereof) were handled for Nick and Sarah.
Probably my least favorite episode out of both S1 & 2.

Game 57: The Walking Dead: Season 2: Episode 5: No Going Back (PC) - ~2 hrs 30 mins
Somewhat of an improvement over the last episode. Getting railroaded into one of three endings was unpleasant but that's common for this kind of game I guess.
Good riddance to Kenny and Jane.

Game 58: Mind Zero (Vita) - 52 hrs 21 mins
Not sure why I even finished this. Played it because of the Persona comparisons but those aren't that accurate. Much closer to dungeon crawler leaning SMT games from what I can tell. Everything just felt really mediocre. Kept telling myself that it might grow on me but it never did. By the time I realized this I was too far gone. :(

Game 59: Always Sometimes Monsters (PC) - ~8 hrs
Interesting idea for a game. Really enjoyed the branching paths even if they really only ended in a few different places. Was also really nice to have such variety in choices for the protagonist and such things.

Game 60: Shinobido 2: Rise of Zen (Vita) - 6 hrs 22 mins
Been wanting a stealth game similar to Tenchu for awhile now so I was pretty excited to play this one. It was pretty decent for what it was. The grappling hook was possibly the worst controls I've experienced in a game and combat was pretty bad but games like this are hard to come by.

Game 61: Murdered: Soul Suspect (PS3) - 7 hrs 55 mins
Had pretty low expectations for this one after seeing the reviews but I was pleasantly surprised. Really enjoyed the hub world kind of thing and the general exploration. Collectibles in this game actually didn't feel like a chore which is pretty rare. The game reminded me of the Blackwell series in parts. I only rented it this time around but I will definitely purchase the game for PS4 to have in my collection when I get one.

Game 62: Trace Memory (DS) - 3 hrs 17 mins
It was about time I got around to playing this one. Really enjoyed this even if it felt like a "my first adventure/point and click" type thing. I'm a huge fan of Hotel Dusk and Cing overall so that might have helped.

Game 63: Deadly Premonition: Director's Cut (PS3) - 26 hrs 1 min
So great to finally play a story based horror game with an open world. Greenvale is easily one of my favorite settings in video games. It felt pretty close to Majora's Mask at times with the time mechanics and everyone in the town having their own routines/schedules. While the gameplay is not technically good by any means, the story and characters really made this for me. This is one of the few recent games where side quests weren't a chore for me to do. It's a bit early but I'd actually put this in my top 10 games based on overall enjoyment. Sequel/spiritual successor please!

Will definitely be watching Twin Peaks as soon as possible.

York is a total heartthrob.

Game 64: Finding Teddy (PC) - 1 hr 38 mins
Pretty fun little point and click title. Was nice to play a game of this kind that isn't too intense with puzzles for once. The ending would've been really cute it
the girl opened the cupboard, heard "Hello" and it ended there
in my opinion.

Will check out the sequel when it is released.

Game 65: Silent Hill: Shattered Memories (Wii) - 6 hrs 48 mins **
Mixed feelings with this one. This is the best post-The Room game in terms of atmosphere, story, and soundtrack but I really dislike the chases/gameplay. The psychological profiling and endings make this worth a playthough or two.

Game 66: Claire (PC) - 2 hrs 54 mins
Great 2D horror game similar to Lone Survivor in gameplay. There seems to be quite a few endings (not sure what factors into which one you get) and the soundtrack is amazing so I'll definitely go through this again someday.

Game 67: The Wolf Among Us (PS3) - ~8 hrs
A pleasant surprise coming from season 2 of The Walking Dead as my most recent Telltale game. Really enjoyed the art style and characters in this one. The game was a technical mess but that's Telltale.

Game 68: The Shivah (PC) - 1 hr 18 mins
Nice little point and click by one of my favorite devs/pubs Wadjet Eye. Not sure how different the endings are but this is short enough that I'll probably go back for at least one more.

Game 69: Costume Quest + Grubbins On Ice (PC) - 5 hrs 48 mins
Smiled from start to finish with both the main game and the expansion. Really captured the feeling of trick or treating when I was younger. Fighting as a unicorn was amazing.

** indicates completed before/replays

Hall of Shame (games that I gave up on/didn't finish for whatever reason):
Dishonored
Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures
Dead Mountaineer's Hotel (quite possibly one of the worst games I have ever played)
Final Fantasy X HD (didn't enjoy this one at all compared to the past)
Pikmin 3 - I'm unable to make it work with no left handed option for the gamepad controls. :(

I should be able to hit 52 easy this year, I'm game.

Game 1: World of Warcraft : Wrath of the Lich King (PC) - January 1 - 50 hours
Played a bunch with my wife early 2013, slowed down considerably with birth of our third child, haven't jumped on in months and my account just lapsed. I'm considering this one finished.

Game 2: My Aquarium (PS3) - January 11 - 10 hours
'Played' this with my oldest daughter during family reading nights, makes for good background noise. Got 100% trophies this weekend, considering the matter closed.

Game 3: The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Anniversary Edition (3DS) - January 14 - 15 hours
Yet another family game, this was my middle daughter's favourite and we played extensively during Christmas Break. She has since moved on to Style Savvy and Animal Kingdom, so I am out as well.

Game 4: Sports Champions (PS3) - January 16 - 15 hours
First 4 of 2014 are all family games, as I purge my backlog of things we have moved on from. I actually like Sports Champions more than Wii Sports, and I like the Move controller more than the Wiimote, but I am just not a motion game sort of guy. Best game of the lot was Bocce, by far, though I enjoyed archery as well.

Game 5: Star Wars: The Force Unleashed (PS3) - January 18 - 25 hours
To me, the biggest news of 2013 was the demise of Lucas Arts, so the game is somewhat bittersweet. I loved this, warts and all. Running about with a Lightsaber and force powers gives me a feeling that I haven't had since the Kyle Katarn series. If I were still 10 years old, in the height of Star Wars mania, I wouldn't want anything more from gaming than this.

Game 6: Little Red Riding Hood's Zombie BBQ (DS) - January 22 - 10 hours
Side scrolling shooter, starring Little Red and some Zombies. Pretty silly, but the latter stages kicked my ass many times. A more skilled player could probably wipe through the game rather quickly.

Game 7: Piyotama (PSP) - January 27 - 4 hours
Simple little puzzler, points to Sony for giving it away for free. Fun, but would rather play other games, so I'm out after some high score chasing.

Game 8: Jetpack Joyride (PS3) - January 29 - 10 hours
Another PSN freebie, got 10 of the 12 trophies and have reached the limits of trying to beat my longest ride.

Game 9: Bully (PS2) - February 3 - 23 hours
Incredible game, probably my favourite Rockstar protagonist and antagonist. With so many games in full franchise mode, why hasn't Rockstar gone back to this? New school, new kids, would be great.

Game 10: Zombie Tycoon (PS3) - February 6 - 6 hours
Easy little PS Mini, annoying pathfinding issues but well worth the 2$. It plays like a RTS, not a Tycoon game though.

Game 11: The House of the Dead 2 and 3 Return (Wii) - February 12 - 25 hours
Have been playing this with my 2 youngest brothers on and off again for a few years. Fun, but the Arcade games are so much better.

Game 12: NES Open Tournament Golf (NES) - February 19 - 6 hours
3DS ambassador game, I could not get the hang of even hitting par. Played at lunch break for a bit, will move on to better games.

Game 13: Super Stacker (PS3) - February 22 - 8 hours
Puzzle game, very easy to mess up, Crazy hard trophies for a game of this ilk. Fun, though, easy enough to jump in and kill a few stages in quick bursts.

Game 14: Blazing Angels: Squadrons of WWII (PS3) - February 25 - 20 hours
Thought the controls were very well done, but later missions' difficulty and my motion sickness combine to drop me out of this, probably around the 60% mark. On the PC, I probably would have been fine.

Game 15: Death by Degrees (PS2) - March 1 - 22 hours
Plays more like Metal Gear than Tekken with Nina's ass in the starring role. It was okay, with a few fustrating camera-induced moments ruining the overall experience.

Game 16: Patchwork Heroes (PSP) - March 4 - 12 hours
Awesome game that gets quite hard in the last 15 levels or so. Best Qix-style game I have ever played outside of Qix itself.

Game 17: Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness (PC) - March 7 - 17 hours
Urg, the Core Design games end with a whimper, probably the worst one of the first set of Tomb Raider games.

Game 18: Darkstalkers Resurrection (PS3) - March 9 - 10 hours
Fun fighter where all the Characters seem overpowered when used right, but I'm just more of a Street Fighter kind of guy.

Game 19: Spy Hunter (Vita) - March 11 - 19 hours
Far better than I expected, got only my 2nd Platinum Trophy in beating it 100%. I Always prefer car combat games to car racing games.

Game 20: Blazblue: Continuum Shift II (3DS) - March 16 - 32 hours
A fighter I got at launch, took me a while to get the hang of some of the more offbeat characters. Tons of content here to keep anyone busy.

Game 21: Dynasty Warriors 6 (PS3) - March 22 - 30 hours
Love this series, though 6 is a pretty weak entry as compared to the others. I try to play an Omega Force game each calendar year, will go for 6:Empires or 7 next.

Game 22: NHL 13 (PS3) - April 1 - 150 hours
Huge NHL fan, played through 2 full seasons in game with the Flyers, features my man Claude Giroux on the cover. My 2nd most played series after Civilization.

Game 23: Sid Meier's Civilization III: Play the World (PC) - April 4 - 150 hours
Speaking of Civ, I am deciding to retire Civ III this year, here is the second leg. Best series in gaming, all the games are timeless and infinite, even this incarnation which I consider the worst of the lot. I will only play Civ III complete (of the Civ series) for the duration of the year, where I will retire that leg as well.

Game 24: Order Up!! (PS3) - April 6 - 8 hours
Played this with my eldest daughter, was fun at the start and tedious late. Not a bad game, though, was fun in bursts.

Game 25: Scott Pilgrim vs the World (PS3) - April 9 - 11 hours
Double Dragon clone where you beat up dorks and then get to kiss the girl after boss fights. It was alright, but the music was really grating.

Game 26: Bloodrayne 2 (PC) - April 15 - 12 hours
Rayne herself is great, but the game was a far cry from the first, let alone Nocturne. I wish Terminal Reality would have gone back to the Spookhouse instead.

Game 27: Half-Life 2: Lost Coast (PC) - April 17 - 3 hours
Fantastic Valve PC Gunplay, we need more of this sort of thing. Fun, quick little level, been missing those Combine Bastards.

Game 28: The King of Fighters '94 (PSP) - April 20 - 9 hours
So-so port job combined with ridiculous cheating AI, whats not to love? I love SNK's art, for one, but shelved this after beating the game with a few different teams.

Game 29: Mega Man Maverick Hunter X (PSP) - April 23 - 13 hours
Never been fond of Mega Man, as I die 1 million times an hour, and this was no exception. Great looking on the OLED screen, though, just wish there was an 'old guy easy mode' for me.

Game 30: Battlefield 3 (PS3) - April 26 - 7 hours
Multiplayer, ugh, console shooter, double ugh. Free PS Plus game, got shot up online, played through campaign, I'm done here.

Game 31: 3 on 3 NHL Arcade (PS3) - April 29 - 6 hours
Very fun, arcadey NHL game in a 3 on 3 format. Played with the family a bit, got 100% trophies, will move on to NHL14/FIFA14/PES2014.

Game 32: U Draw Studio Instant Artist (PS3) - May 3 - 15 hours
MS paint in a game format. Great fun if you have younger children, it's sort of a gateway to picking up pencils and drawing for real. Played a bunch with my 7 year old as the 12 year old drew on papers next to us. My 3rd Platinum trophy game.

Game 33: The Mystery of the Crystal Portal (PS3) - May 10 - 3 hours
PS Mini Hidden Object game I played through in an afternoon with my wife. Quick and easy, if anybody is behind in this challenge in December, this is the way to go.

Game 34: Xenosaga Episode III: also sprach Zarathustra (PS2) - May 17 - 51 hours
Incredible game, ending an incredible series. Everything I want from a (J)RPG, getting that mid-1990s Square feeling back. My new 2006 GOTY, supplanting Persona 3. Though I took my sweet time playing the series through, I am very sad the Saga is over. It is my greatest gaming wish that Monolith Soft gets that Xeno- license back from either Square or Namco, either one will do.

Game 35: Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Mini-Land Mayhem! (DS) - May 20 - 9 hours
Loved this game, I prefer the puzzle-solving gameplay to yet another Mario platformer. Perfect handheld setup, with dozens of very small, quick levels. Played this game entirely in the office during lunch breaks over the last three weeks.

Game 36: The Ico & Shadow of the Colossus Collection (PS3) - May 24 - 19 hours
Fantastic port of two of the greatest gaming has to offer. Had played both the originals before, but everything comes flooding back so quickly, amazing music, visuals and unparalled gameplay. Everyone needs to play these games, and everyone needs to pray to the Old Ones to get the-game-that-shall-not-be-named into our grubby paws. Believe.

Game 37: Stacking (PS3) - June 8 - 9 hours
Simply amazing. Double Fine dipping into the magic imagination well that the AAA-types can't seem to find. Best game ever about both Matryoshka Dolls and Child labour laws during the great depression.

Game 38: Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin (DS) - June 12 - 16 hours
I love all handheld Castlevania, this was no exception, Konami needs to get one started up ASAP. Loved the two-character switching up system, loved how the various paintings gave some variety in settings that were not possible when the entire game is spend in Dracula's Castle.

Game 39: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (PS2) - June 15 - 8 hours
Short game, padded with backtracking, 75% of the game was replaying beaten levels for Tri-Wizard Shields. Characters now look like their movie images, controls are improved, but everything else is a bore. Only worth playing for the license, which is admittedly a weak point of mine.

Game 40: Faery: Legends of Avalon (PS3) - June 17 - 7 hours
Quick RPG with simple turn-based combat in 4 distinct settings with varied characters. Right up my alley, I consider Faery an underrated game, though it won't be for everyone. Tried very hard to make my Dragonfly-winged Faery look as tough as possible, ha ha.

Game 41: Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos (PC) - June 19 - 41 hours
While I enjoyed my time in Azeroth again, I never got sucked in like I did with Warcraft I & II, and stalled out on more than one occasion. Still, it was a Blizzard game, with tons of content and a long single player campaign. Hoping that after Starcraft Trilogy is finished, they go onto Warcraft IV. I have the expansion, but I will probably wait until 2015 to play it.

Game 42: CSI: Fatal Conspiracy (PS3) - June 21 - 9 hours
I love a good Adventure game, but unfortunately this dosen't get much better than "okay". Would have preferred FMVs with the actual actors or something to spice it up a bit. Ripped through the game, then did a replay of the first case to grab the Platinum Trophy. TellTale can do better.

Game 43: Limbo (PC) - June 27 - 5 hours
Superb atmosphere and artwork combined with merciless puzzles and dozens of macabre deaths. I love it, a complete gem of a game. Perfect difficulty balance where you will die a lot but is still very fair.

Game 44: Mario Kart Wii (Wii) - July 3 - 30 hours
Officially retiring this one, as I usually only play with the family and they've moved on to other things. Yet another entry on this list where the bulk of the play time is in the 2011-2013 range rather than the current year. Probably my favourite version of my favourite racing series, but it's only really fun in multiplayer. Just about done with the Wii, backlog is down to about 8 games or so, so this is the beginning of the end.

Game 45: Gran Turismo 5: Prologue (PS3) - July 6 - 7 hours
Found this for 1 dollar at Gamestop, so what the Hell. Played enough to get some nice cars, but there are only so many tracks and I'm not into racers enough to replay a run after I've "beaten" it (read: finished 3rd.) Looks gorgeous, though.

Game 46: Actual Crimes: Jack the Ripper (PSP) - July 12 - 2 hours
Another PS Mini Hidden Object Mystery played through with Mrs. Krafter. Quick and easy, save for a slide puzzle which always is a weakness of mine.

Game 47: The Hobbit: Armies of Middle-Earth (Android) - July 17 - 60 hours
Empire building game I have been playing for the last year or so with the family. My sister-in-law and I were the last two holdouts, and we are now done as well. There are a million of these games, but this one has the LOTR skin and artwork to spice things up a bit.

Game 48: Kirby and the Amazing Mirror (GBA) - July 21 - 11 hours
My first Kirby game, and I was surprised by the depth of the gameplay. I had thought it to be a simple platformer coming in, but the absorbing of the various powers is such a great mechanic. Was very easy to get lost at first, got my bearings later on with help of my nephew. Flagship developed title, but full of that Nintendo magic.

Game 49: Aliens Armageddon (Arcade) - July 26 - 3 hours
Stellar light-gun shooting game. Somewhat similar to the Terminator: Salvation Arcade game, with an Aliens skin, and I will always play any Alien game. The wife and I, while on vacation, beat 2 levels one day and the final 2 the next, showing the kids how we used to do things back in the day. An absolute blast.

Game 50: Metal Slug 5 (PSP) - July 28 - 4 hours
One of my favourite series, been playing through the PSP collection at a 1 game per year rate. I would put MS5 at about middle of the pack, below MS2, MSX and MS3, but that's still high praise as I love all the games in the series. It's that Metal Slug gameplay, without the need for extra quarters, in the palm of my hand. What's not to love?

Game 51: Trine (PS3) - August 7 - 11 hours
Beautiful and Magical platformer, starring three classic archetypes in the Warrior, Thief and Wizard. I loved this game; music, artwork, gameplay and voice acting were all top-notch, particularly the narrator. The Wizard, and his magic of object creation/manipulation was ingenious, far superior to yet another fireball/magic missle affair.

Game 52: Pokemon Black (DS) - August 11 - 60 hours
Only my third Pokemon game, with the same classic, simple gameplay. I like this series more as I get older, very easy to pick up and play and I always prefer turn-based games. Black is probably my new series favourite, save for the weak ending and the feeling that I couldn't seem to get my team just right like I could in HeartGold. Played with my oldest daughter, which caused problems as she sold all our pokemon (save for her favourite) half-way through the game "for more dollars, Dada!"

Game 53: Heileen: Sail Away (Android) - August 15 - 4 hours
Visual Novel gifted to me by my sister-in-law. Great artwork, but there wasn't enough of it. Pirate-y setting was pretty cool though. It was okay, more games need to be about love and romance as opposed to murder and maim, so that's always a plus. Wouldn't mind supporting a small Italian studio, so I will probably get some of their other games at some point.

Game 54: Valhalla Knights (PSP) - August 17 - 29 hours
A mixed bag. I like a dungeon crawler, particularly one where you create the entire party, especially on a handheld. But the combat was such a chore, constant running around, and you always take so much damage. Got to the point where you would do runs until you were all dead, pay to be raised, do another run or two until you get the optimal route to the boss so you can get there ready for bear. Would have vastly preferred turn-based combat.

Game 55: Mortal Kombat (Vita) - August 25 - 21 hours
I've never liked MK mechanics, but I did enjoy this game enough to beat the game with each of the 32 characters and then the story mode. Didn't touch multiplayer. Roster was huge, graphics great, but I found a lot of the Xray moves and model damage grotesque. The story mode was very well done, with a ton of fights and 16 different characters used. Solid enough game, caused me to go right out and get Injustice.

Game 56: Test Yourself: Psychology (PS3) - August 30 - 3 hours
A Brain Training style game, with zero humor and charm. Not my cup of tea, but the wife bought it on a whim, and I went through each exercise once or twice. Cheap enough, I suppose.

Game 57: Sherlock Holmes and the Mystery of the Persian Carpet (PC) - September 2 - 7 hours
Love Frogwares and their Sherlock games, keep them coming. I bored through this one fairly quickly, and it is more of a casual game, hidden object sections and the like. There were a few puzzles that kicked my ass, though, like the clown card game, ugh. Solid game overall.

Game 58: Dementium II (DS) - September 6 - 9 hours
Holy shit, awesome game, far surpassing the original. Creepy horror FPS, with great sound and atmosphere in spades. A cross between Blood and Silent Hill, and I mean that in the best possible way. Very easy to aim and control, whereas I remember struggling in Dementium: the Ward. The DS needs more first-person games in this vein.

Game 59: Castle of Illusion starring Mickey Mouse (Genesis) - September 10 - 5 hours
This is the original game, not the HD port, that came with the PS Plus promotion as a bonus. Very good platformer, reminds of Super Mario Bros. with a Disney skin, and it works very well. Game was pretty short, which is a good thing as I stink at this sort of game. Save states saved my ass as I could store up lives for the harder bits.

Game 60: Civil War: Secret Missions (PS3) - September 15 - 5 hours
Surprisingly good FPS, though a little short at 11 levels total. I generally hate console shooters, but the 1860s firearms make for a slow, reloading-the-gun-a-lot pace, which cuts my motion sickness down and keeps me in the game. Also, the History Channel straight-up military mission narrative is appreciated, rather than the good vs evil that it could have been.

Game 61: Doom 3 (PC) - September 18 - 21 hours
Hell yeah. The senior member of the ID/Monolith/Valve FPS Holy Trio delivers in spades here, no cover, no Wolverine powers, just firepower and Demons. ID's weapons are still the best sounding and feeling, and everything works just as well with the claustrophobic atmosphere and smaller enemy counts. Doom 3 looks and sounds great, pretty much exactly what I want from the viewpoint of a 1990s shooter guy. Bring on Doom 4.

Game 62: Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. the Souless Army (PS2) - September 28 - 29 hours
Another win for Atlus; Interesting time period, fantastic art and music, and possibly the best silent protagonist of all time. Real-time combat that reminded me of Vagrant Story or Crisis Core, except you have your summon fighting at your side. Gotou the Demon cat is pretty damn high up on the video-game companion list. As an aside, this is the game with the longest title I have ever played.

Game 63: Spartacus Legends (PS3) - October 1 - 20 hours
PSN Free to play, weapon-based fighting game that reminds me of Soul Calibur, starring half-naked sweaty guys. Multiple weapon styles, all quite viable. I enjoyed this quite a bit, enough to beat all six districts' Champions. Pretty violent, I did not play this one around the kids and for good reason. Screw that Rank 50 trophy though, heh.

Game 64: Okami (PS2) - October 12 - 60 hours
Absolutely incredible, a masterpiece. Beautiful, magical, world-class protagonist, fun, creative boss fights. The celestial brush is ingenious. I could go on and on, this is a 10/10 game, misses my GOTY by a hair.

Game 65: Sid Meier's Civilization III: Conquests (PC) - October 15 - 100 hours
So much meat in each iteration of the series, that I'm counting each expansion pack as it's own, full, game. (Thus, Civ III Complete is three full games on my list.) Now that I'm officially done with Civ III, I would rank it ahead of Civ, but behind Civ II. I like the added options for game settings, creating varied, playable worlds, but don't like the sectioned tech tree nor the lack of Fundamentalism. National Borders, however, are an incredible addition to the series and I can't imagine going back to not having them.

Game 66: Samurai Shodown V (PSP) - October 17 - 5 hours
So-so port, with horrid load times and slowdowns, but I just can't help myself with SNK fighters. Beat it twice with Mina and Kyoshiro, and that's about it.

Game 67: 3D Classics: Excitebike (3DS) - October 20 - 3 hours
I was never good at the original, and that carries over here, but the game itself is exactly the same and that's a good thing. Excellent sound, from the "1-2-3-start" sound to the roar of the engines. An ex-biker myself, always wished for more Bike games as opposed to Car games.

Game 68: Slender: the Eight Pages (PC) - October 23 - 6 hours
Surprisingly good horror game. WASD controls were perfect, leaving the horror coming from the atmosphere, music and Slender himself. Totally up my alley, I will definitely buy the sequel.

What the fuck did I just play? Seems like some tragic, espionage, psychedelic, love story.

Short, moderately challenging platformer worth the two bucks that I spent on it. The game really gave me a Mega Man vibe.

Do you want to feel like a Man? Do you want to know if you're a bad enough dude to save the USA? Then play this game. It's the best character action game I've played in years. Really hope there's a sequel in the works.

4. Syder Arcade - FINISHED ON: 20140120 DURATION: 45 Minutes

Quick free roaming Shmup with some decent tracks. Nothing revolutionary here, but it was nice quick fun. Definitely worth the two bucks I spent on it.

5. Ether Vapor Remaster - FINISHED ON: 20140120 DURATION: 50 Minutes
header_292x136.jpg

This is a solid doujin Shmup. The music is you usual Japanese synth, backgrounds are very unimpressive, the ship models look great and the gameplay is above average with the different firing methods. They try to make things versatile with dynamic camera angles. There is a little bit of replay value since beating the game unlocks ships. Their next offering, Astebreed, looks amazing.

6. eXceed - Gun Bullet Children - FINISHED ON: 20140121 DURATION: 40 Minutes

Think of the worst bullet hell shooter that you've ever play. If it's not this game, then you're lucky.

7. eXceed 2nd - Vampire REX - FINISHED ON: 20140121 DURATION: 50 Minutes
header_292x136.jpg

I can't believe that this game was made by the same people who made the first one. I can't believe they got enough funding to even look into this sequel. This game is like a poor man's Ikaruga. Solid gameplay and a hell of a lot more polish than the first one.

8. eXceed 3rd - Jade Penetrate - FINISHED ON: 20140121 DURATION: 40 Minutes
header_292x136.jpg

This is my favorite one out of the three. The game is definitely the most polished out of he three. This game is more along the lines of your classic bullet hell shmup. You get power ups in the form of assistant fighters that home in on the enemy. They did away with the polarity gameplay found in the second one.

9. Jamestown: Legend of the Lost Colony - FINISHED ON: 20140127 DURATION: 3 Hours
header_292x136.jpg

I really wish I would have played this game as soon as I purchased it. The difficulty high enought to offer a challenge, but not to the point of frustration. This is one of the better shooters on Steam and I feel it's one that every Shmup fan should have in their library.

10.The Swapper - FINISHED ON: 20140129 DURATION: 4.5 Hours
header_292x136.jpg

Talk about an awesome game. I would have given this my 2013 Game of the Year if I had played it when I purchased it. The puzzles are amazing, the pacing is just right, and the ending puts you in a hard spot. This is by far the best puzzle platformer I've ever played.

11. Pool Nation - FINISHED ON: 20140129 DURATION: 5 Hours
header_292x136.jpg

The beast pool simulator I have ever played. It has soothing music, great physics, and it's oozing with style. Only thing that sucks is that I don't have anyone I know to play against. Hopefully this get's purchased by more people in the future.

12. Velocity Ultra - FINISHED ON: 20140130 DURATION: 6 Hours
header_292x136.jpg

This is a very fun shooter/puzzler with a unique teleporting mechanic. The only thing that effected was a lack of power ups and bosses. I feel that a game like this could have had some unique boss experiences with its mechanics.

13. Savant Ascent - FINISHED ON: 20140131 DURATION: 30 minutes
header_292x136.jpg

A fun, quick game with an amazing soundtrack and great sprite work. It's a platform Shmup with basic mechanics that makes for a nice little time. The dev team is currently at work on Owlboy, but they took time out of their busy schedule to put this game together in around 3 months. I feel like they did an amazing job for such a short time. The game is very cheap. You can't even buy an energy drink with the amount I spent on this game.

14. Titanfall - FINISHED ON: 20140419 DURATION: 109 Hours
5bbc7badff2dbe9ae9aae224437ac348.jpg

This game is definitely did not live up to the hype. It's a great FPS and the elements of parkour and mechs kept me coming back, but now I feel like I'm done with the game. You can't customize the look of your mechs, your can't customize the looks of your weapons, you can' t even customize your pilot. I'm sure if they added customization to the game I'd probably put in a ton more hours. Other things that hurt this game for me is the mid game freezing and cheaters. Hopefully they can resolve some of these issues when I come back to it after the first bit of DLC is released for it. Overall it's a good shooter, but I feel Destiny will be the better of the two. Too bad I won't play that game cause I don't care for consoles.

15. Dark Souls 2 - FINISHED ON: 20140504 DURATION: 60 Hours
header_292x136.jpg

The game was really good. Though, there are things the first one does better than this one. First being the boss fights. There wasn't a single fight in this game that wowed me like the first one. I was thinking that it was because they were basically all humanoids, but the Artorias fight was amazing on the first one. The boss designs were just plain lacking. The next thing are the environments. Dark Souls seemed to have more thought put into its scenery; more passion. Things in this game just looked rushed and plain outside of the central hub. These were the only 2 things that really bothered me with the game. I just hope that when the third game comes they put a little more passion and effort into it.

16. Crimzon Clove - FINISHED ON: 20140609 DURATION: 2 Hours
header_292x136.jpg

This is an amazing bullet hell Shmup. Art assessts look great and the gameplay was top notch. Crimzon Clover is very welcoming to novice players. It offers just enough of a challenge without being ridiculously hard. Doing Breaks and Double Breaks never get old. If you're a Shmup fan and don't have this in your library then you're missing out.

17. Astebreed - FINISHED ON: 20140609 DURATION: 2 Hours
I'm on a Shmup roll. They're fun and quick to beat. This one is just as good as the last to me, but with a VERY different gameplay style. The game relies on swordplay and dashes along with a lock-on system and your typical pew pewing. Normal shooting in this game definitely takes a back seat compared to the rest of the game. The game relies on the lock-on system to deal massive damage with your orbs and sword. There's so many ways to attack in this game that it's only best for you to experience the game for yourself rather than have me explain it.
header_292x136.jpg

18. Danmaku Unlimited 2 - FINISHED ON: 20140615 DURATION: 3 Hours
Another game that plays just as good as Crimzon Clover. It's a solid bullet hell that is actually playable by the normal person. The soundtrack to this game is the cream of the crop thanks to Blankfield. The two different game modes actually allow your ship to function completely different which, in turn, makes the scoring system completely different. It really adds to the replay value. This is another Shmup that's a must have for the fans of the genre.

19. Transistor - FINISHED ON: 20140620 DURATION: 16 Hours
This was a wonderful experience for me. I loved the combat, the mood, and especially the music. The gameplay mechanics works around both an active and a static combo set-up type system. You'll more than likely be using he latter than the former. The environments and music really pull you into to the game and there's just enough story there to keep you enthralled. I loved the dialogue delivered by the Transistor's occupant who is the former body guard of Red (at least that's what I've gathered). There's a new game plus mode in the game too where you can gain duplicate moves to set up more combinations. Only thing that would have made this game better would be to play as the body guard up to his untimely demise as an unlock.

20. Final Fantasy XIV: ARR - FINISHED ON: 20140702 DURATION: 26 Hours
I picked this game up just to complete my Final Fantasy collection on Steam. I figured I'd give it ago after playing Final Fantasy XI hardcore years ago. I've gotta say that I feel that this game is superior in every way. There is no grind (at least to level 22 which I currently am), the combat is faster, and the quest system seems more stream lined. It's not the prettiest and it's not the most innovative MMO out there, but it does everything right. I really wish that I had more time in my life to sit down and enjoy an MMORPG, but I'll have to wait for retirement to go at this genre hardcore again.

21. Super Puzzle Platformer Deluxe - FINISHED ON: 20140713 DURATION: 6 Hours
Great little puzzler. The different costumes you get offers plenty of replay value and every world offers different obstacles while the challenges brings a little more replay value to the table. I really wish this game would be a little more fleshed out. But it's a bargain game and a decent one at that.
header_292x136.jpg

22. Abyss Odyssey - FINISHED ON: 20140716 DURATION: 4 Hours
I almost had to force myself to get through the start of the game. Once you pick up moves and cancels, the gameplay becomes a little better. Even though, the combat still feels janky and attacks really don't have any weight to them. The game seemed like it was on its way to being great, but the developers decided to not flesh things out. The game is definitely worth the price, but it's not something that I'm going to keep coming back to. I feel like Valdis Story is a similar game that does a way better job at combat and exploration. I really need to finish that game now that I think about it.
header_292x136.jpg

23. Hangeki - FINISHED ON: 20140718 DURATION: 10 Hours
Hot DAMN! This Shmup is where it's at. The combat system is awesome and messing with the INSANE!!! amount of weapon combination makes for high replay value. This is definitely not a great looking game, but the gameplay sure as hell makes up for it. Although, if you're a lover of Galaga and Space Invaders, then the graphics will be a big throwback. But the gameplay is a lot more hectic than they two aforementioned titles. Hopefully this will make it onto STEAM.
header_292x136.jpg

24. Gunhound - FINISHED ON: 20140720 DURATION: 2 Hours
This game is very mediocre. The control scheme is horrible and the gravity sections of the game are poorly done. It was such a chore to beat. It's not worth the $15.00 they are asking. Definitely a $2.50 game.
header_292x136.jpg

25. Gigantic Army - FINISHED ON: 20140720 DURATION: 1 Hours
This game is similar to Gunhound, but it's executed better. Controls are tight, boss fights aren't a chore, but the graphics aren't as snazzy. It's simplistic art style appeals to me more though. The game is really short, but it's priced accordingly.
header_292x136.jpg

26. Yaiba - FINISHED ON: 20140722 DURATION: 10 Hours
This game is definitely not deserving of the hate it gets. I feel this caught a bad rap just because it was under the Ninja Gaiden name. Since I didn't go into this with the mindset of expecting that sort of game. The combat is okay, the graphics are okay... it's not a 4/10 game. It's more like a 6/10. There are games out there that does what it does better. It's a $10-15 game.
header_292x136.jpg

27. Noitu Love 2 - FINISHED ON: 20140723 DURATION: 1 Hour
Great little cheap game from 1 man. It doesn't have technical gameplay, but it's fun nonetheless. I love the art direction and the quickness of combat. I'm looking forward to Konjak's next game. The Iconoclasts. It looks like it's gearing up to be a classic.

28. Super Street Fighter IV AE - FINISHED ON: 20140726 DURATION: 26 Hours
Well it's Street Fighter. This is a great game compared to Vanilla SFIV. The netcode works well if you play people in your region, but trying to play against SteamGAFfers from around the world slows things down. This is the most played fighter on Steam, but it's still not my cup of tea. Third Strike was the last SF I put work in. I'm more excited about getting fresh installments of GG and BlazBlue on there.

29. Really Big Sky - FINISHED ON: 20140726 DURATION: 6 Hours
I want to like this game but I can't. The game is kind of confusing for me. I really don't know what the hell the mechanics are and it seems that the upgrade system really doesn't do jack shit. There are better shmups and twin stick shooters out there. I will say that I love the soundtrack though. If this game had a little bit more development time and polish, I feel that it could become a great game.
header_292x136.jpg

30. Street Fighter X Tekken - FINISHED ON: 20140726 DURATION: 7 Hours
Damn. This game isn't horrible, but it's definitely not a very thought out game. The gem system ruins the game for me. The fighting game mechanics aren't great. It feels very MUGEN-like; fan-made. It's just a rushed game that needed to be in the oven just a little longer. I was really excited for this game, but now all I hope is that Namco's game turns out to be the better of the two.
header_292x136.jpg

31. Typing of the Dead Overkill - FINISHED ON: 20140727 DURATION: 6 Hours
This is a fun game that really challenges your typing skills. It doesn't take capitalization or spacing into account, but it doesn't stop you from doing it either. Overall this is a VERY decent afternoon waster. The game doesn't take itself seriously in any way shape or form. Thus, I liked the silly dialogue and constant one liners found throughout the game.
header_292x136.jpg

32. Dungeon of the Endless - FINISHED ON: 20140809 DURATION: 16 Hours
I got sucked into this one. This game is a Rogue-like, Squad Based, Tower Defense, RPG. From what I've discovered so far, all the characters have at least 2 action abilities, but there's really not much going on in terms of character animations other than attacks and movement. The sprite work is nice and there is a decent sized roster of characters to choose from once their unlocked. I suck at this game so Too Easy was a challenge for me. You've got to be good at balancing resources, party positioning, and developing tactics with abilities. The game has room for growth, but overall, I feel like it's a solid experience so far. Can't wait to see the final product.
header_292x136.jpg

33.Ultra Street Fighter IV - FINISHED ON: 20140809 DURATION: 8 Hours
USFIV on PC is definitely not worth the $15 that it's asking for right now. Online play is laggy and I'm having problems with certain charge moves not registering. The extra characters are basically copied and pasted from SFXT. On the bright side, the updates to existing characters and the mechanics of the game make for a fresh experience. The only way to experience them fully right now is to play offline, and for most people that means having to play against the CPU. I'm really hoping Capcom takes the time to work out the kinks, but I'm now holding my breath. I'll just hope for Tekken to bring a solid netcode.
header_292x136.jpg

34. Expendabros - FINISHED ON: 20140809 DURATION: 36 Minutes
A hectic side-scroller with explosions and gibs everywhere. It's a short, free game from Free Lives to tie in with Expendables 3. The game is basically a stripped down version of Broforce. The plus side to this is that these guys might be included on that game.
header_292x136.jpg

35. King of Fighters XIII - FINISHED ON: 20140817 DURATION: 6 Hours
A good fighter that could have been better in my opinion. They played it a little too safe with the roster. Along with a safe roster they went with older character designs and movesets. The effects look really amateurish and detract from the sprite work. All the UI's look horrible with poor choice on fonts. Even the game mechanics are a step back from what King of Fighters XI offered players. It's slower paced and load screens between character changes in matches really takes away from the flow and action of the match. With that being said, the game is a huge step above King of Fighters XII.
header_292x136.jpg

36. Ultratron - FINISHED ON: 20140819 DURATION: 3 Hours
A fun twin stick shooter with an upgrade system. The only complaint about the game is that some of the effects get in the way of the action and makes it harder to avoid attacks. Another concern is that the game doesn't seem to save progession. I know there are checkpoints, but the moment I close the game and come back, my data is gone. It's not that upsetting since the game can be completed in one sit down. Something that would have made this game better is a new game plus, so that you could have a chance to obtain max stats.
header_292x136.jpg

37. Dungeon Hearts - FINISHED ON: 20140821 DURATION: 3 Hours
A very mediocre puzzler that would be a little more entertaining on a pad. The game is horrible, but there isn't too terribly much to it. Abilities are locked behind a HUGE exp pay wall. It's a little on the ridiculous side. Also the game can come of as being easy and then out of no where the difficulty ramps up to impossible, thus making the flow of the game very jarring. I had to crank the difficulty down to easy just to make it through a whole game. I didn't want to put in more time into a game I had no heavy interest in.
header_292x136.jpg

38. Five Nights at Freddy's - FINISHED ON: 20140822 DURATION: 2 Hours
I wasn't ready for this game. The worst part about the game is the actually wait along with the creepy ambient noises in the background. It almost gets to the point where you just want to hurry up and get it over with. There's no gore, no grotesqueness, just pure creepiness. If this game gets down to $2.50, it should be an immediate pickup for anyone that's a fan of the genre. It will entertain you for a good 1-3 hours.
header_292x136.jpg

39. Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition - FINISHED ON: 20140823 DURATION: 15 Hours
This is a big step in the right direction for the series. Losing out on multiple stances and a huge roster with watered down substance really helped improve the quality of the game. Combat mechanics, Fatalities, unique character movesets have all seen an improvement. Awkward, rigid animations still plague the game though, which has always been a big deterrent from me picking this series up as a game I want to develop skill in. The story mode was a big attraction. Offering a good canon source of material that doesn't leave the player guessing who's done what and who'll be in the sequel. More fighters should take ques from this game and add fan favorites as non-canon characters if they are dead or have no reason to be in the next installment.
header_292x136.jpg

40. Super Time Force Ultra - FINISHED ON: 20140829 DURATION: 6 Hours
This is a nice little game, albeit a little repetitive. I don't see all the hype for it. This is definitely a $10 game. It offers a ton of extras and the character unlocks and alternate characters offer a lot of replay value to the game. Also, some of the extra characters seem pretty useless. I feel that Broforce will offer a better experience without the "Time" gimmick presented in this game.

1. Super Mario 3D World -Not Finished-
# Incredibly catchy music. Later level designs are fantastic. Finding all these stars/stamps is tedious, but fun. Probably my favorite Mario game since Sunshine.

2. Persona 4: Golden, 15 hours -Not Finished-
# This game has so much style. The actual dungeon crawling/combat aspect is only okay, but the story, persona fusing, and S.Links make up for it.

3. Sanic: Lost World -Not Finished-
# Dialogue is cringey as hell. Controls work well enough, though they aren't nearly as tight as SM3DW.

4. Muramasa: Rebirth, 12 hours -Finished- (Working on plat)
# Great visuals and gameplay. The stories are very short, but it has a lot of replay value (Fury mode, collecting all 108 swords).

5. Bravely Default, 3 hours -Not Finished-
# Not a huge fan of the chibi characters, but overall it's got a solid art style and soundtrack. I'm really liking the Brave/Default battle system and the massive amount of jobs to choose from.

6. Dragon's Crown, 2 hours -Not Finished-
# Still working to unlock online play.

7. Toukiden, 20 hours -Not Finished-
# I don't have much experience with Monster Hunter, so I can't really compare the two. I'm having a lot of fun punching Oni in the face, but I do wish it was harder.Granted I'm only on chapter 4 so hopefully it gets more difficult later.

8. Strider, 20 hours -Finished-
# Pretty much only bought the game because Strider is one of my favorite characters in MvC. I really wasn't expecting much from it based on a couple gameplay videos I saw of the early game, but it really picks up once you get a couple extra abilities. The Metroidvania aspects are fairly light. I wish there was a bit more room for exploration. Combat feels great, though it is really easy even on the Hard setting. I got the plat after my third run through the game and sadly, I don't think I'll have a reason to come back to Strider for a while.

# Bought a 3DS for this. I like the 3D and the game is great. I want more 2D Zelda. I did not really like the weapon rental system though. It was not a

Game 14: MGSV GZ - DURATION PLAYED 2 hrs
# It's OK I guess. Majorly disappointed that there was not 1 boss fight. I plan to go back and play more closer to TP release

------------------April----------------------- This is where my pace slowed down - could it be the weather :)

Game 15: Infamous Second Son: 12hrs
# Kind of a let down. The stupid he that dwells boss fight was terrible. Died so many times because I did not know you could jump several times in the stupid blue things but why should I have know this? Also got stuck in a platform wall trying to get out of the lava. Games controls feel too loose. I don't think I can bear to play through it a second time on evil. And I will skip any sequel unless something drastically changes. Edit: went back and beat it once. Not a fun game. I don't understand why such shitty boss fights and terrible group battles get put into games. They are not fun, nor are they a compelling challenge, they are just annoying and cheap and fucking suck.

Game 16: Ether One ~ 6 hrs
An OK game, the puzzles are kind of shitty but skipable ( shitty as in I have no fucking clue what to do )

Game 18: Mario and Luigi Dream Team 32+ hrs
# I liked the game a lot but have many issues with design choices, specifically pertaining to the battles. The battles are semi QTE based and the timing is ridiculously tight leading to lots of vulgarity and unfun bullshit. I can't understand how the devs thought that people would be able to get good enough at this shit while playing the game. There are dozens of different enemies each with 2-3 main attacks and some cheap fucking surprises thrown into the mix after the attacks. I don't think it is humanly possible to be able to execute the counter attacks to a reasonable degree of success for the ones that involve holding A and B then releasing one button a millisecond before releasing the other in response to action on the screen that is super fast. Also they have double, triple quadruple jeopardy bullshit. I once started a battle stunned, got fucked up and restunned during a barrage of opening attacks and then killed before I had a chance to do anything. But that is OK because they put in a cheat. If you get killed in a fight you can choose to try it again in easy mode. After getting my ass handed to me so much, of course I do that. What they should have done, is slowed the fucking thing down, giving normal humans the time to see the tell and react to it and also loosening up the time window for successful execution.

----------------------------May---------------------------------------

Game 19: Child Of Light ~ 8 hrs
# I liked it at first but got pretty bored with it fast. The art style was nice and the battles were OK, if not overly easy. The things I did not like about it were the loot and crafting. The loot was very dull. Having equipment upgrades in it would have made the game much more engaging, but instead it was usually another fucking potion which I used in maybe 3 battles. Frequent leveling was interesting but not fast enough to get maxed out spells of all elements for the caster during a normal playthrough. This is bullshit because it means you have to know the final bosses' weaknesses beforehand to level those spells up. Another thing that pissed me off to no end was backtracking. By itself that is ok, but being ambushed by weak enemies that offer no real EXP = a giant FUCK YOU from the developers.

Game 20: Kentucky Route Zero Act III - ~ 2hrs
# I still find it interesting but it lacks cohesiveness so far. Maybe that is due to the huge gaps between Episodes. I can't remember details of a 2 hour game I played 4 months ago so I guess that is partially on me.

Game 21: FF XIV ARR PS4 - Great MMORPG, spent countless hours on this, need to get back into it soon.
# I bought the Ps3 version for 18 bucks to take advantage of the free PS4 upgrade.

----------------------------June-Sept---------------------------------------
Spent a few weeks in Taiwan then moved from the Bay Area to MD for a new job and bought a new house so next to nothing for games.

Game 22: Watchdogs - 25hrs
# OK open world game that got repetitive

Game 23: Wolfenstein TNN _ 12 hrs
# great shooter with great world

----------------------------Oct---------------------------------------

Game 24: Divinity OS - First KS game that I supported that I actually played :)
Good game if perhaps a bit too long

Game 25: Shadow of Mordor maybe 20 hrs
I enjoyed the nemesis system though sometimes the battles were a little ridiculous with the never-ending stream of orcs.

----------------------------November---------------------------------------
Game 26: Borderlands PreSequel
More Borderlands is always a good thing. I like this game as a shooter and the loot is addictive. I also like the low g component

----------------------------December---------------------------------------

Games I hope to finish and add to the list:
Alice Madness Returns - Started Last Summer about 2/3 done
Splinter Cell Blacklist - Played maybe 1 hour. Game seems good but GTA came out.

Oh man, I'm pretty much the worst when it comes to actually finishing games. I'll try and see if this challenge will actually push me to finish them for once. Plus, we got some sweet games coming in 2014.

With that said, my first entry is going to be a LTTP: Chrono Trigger. Never played it, all of my friends have, and it's most of their's favorite game of all time, right next to FFVI. So with that said, LET'S DO THIS!

1. Skylanders: Swap Force (PS4) About 10 hours (looks like it wasn't Chrono Trigger after all)
# Much improved over last year's Skylanders formula. Not only is the Swap ability itself pretty awesome, letting you create a ton of combos, the addition of a jump button finally makes it feel like more of a platformer. I can also admit here that I've spent way too much on Swap Force characters and have pretty much every single one that's currently out. My bank account hates me.

2. Strider (PS4) 5.5 hours
# An amazing comeback for Strider. Controls were top-notch and perfect and the length was just right. My only gripe was that the map was a little too complicated and made backtracking for items somewhat of a pain. Also, the last 1/4 of the game really turns up the difficulty.

3. Risk of Rain (PC) 10 hours
# Definitely one of the better Roguelikes out there. The difficulty was perfect and whenever I died, it was definitely my fault and not the game being cheap. Each of the classes felt really different and distinct, with very varied skillsets. With that said, F#$! the Acrid character. No matter how long I've tried to get better with him, he's just impossible. Also, AMAZING soundtrack. Seriously.

4. Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes (PS4) 6 hours
# I'm a Metal Gear fan so I was willing to forgive the short mission time. I actually enjoyed what was in GZ, and am thoroughly pumped for what's coming in Phantom Pain. I think what sold me is how fluid Snake controls now. No longer is he a slave to choppy animations and stiff controls, and it's about time.

5. Dark Souls II (PS3) 51 hours
# As a huge fan of Dark Souls, obviously I was super excited for DSII. Is it better than the first? Man that's a tough one. I think Dark Souls in my mind is perfection, and it's hard to surpass it, but DSII did come close. I'm already halfway on my other playthrough on NG+ and still loving every minute of it. My first playthrough was also the first time I used any sort of spellcaster, so it was a new experience for me gameplay wise as well.

6. inFamous: Second Son (PS4) About 13 hours
# Having played the previous, I can honestly say from a gameplay perspective, Second Son is mechanically the best. Travel powers are amazing, and the four main powers are all fun to use. Story wise though, Second Son disappointed. It was all very cookie cutter, a revenge story of sorts, but it never reached the emotional impact as the first inFamous did. The twist in that game made my jaw drop, and unfortunately Second Son never reaches that level of storytelling. Oh, and those graphics. Wow!

7. To the Moon (PC) About 3 hours
# I've had this in my library for a solid year now, and for one reason or another, never got around to actually play it, despite all the good things I've heard about it. While storywise the game is absolutely amazing, the controls for the game, whether it was with a mouse or a 360 controller, were pretty bad, which is saying something for a game that doesn't really do much outside of simply walking around and interacting with objects. With that said, oh man the tears did flow.

8. Dark Souls II (PC) About 42 hours
# I double dipped with Dark Souls II, and to make this count, I played through a completely different build, whereas I played a spellcaster on the PS3, I went pure melee with no shield and no armor for my PC playthrough. Needless to say, the game played way better on the PC, but I do admit it was easier since I was already familiar with the world and its enemies.

9. Thomas Was Alone (PC) 3 hours
# A fun puzzle game. Not really into those, but a friend of mine recommended it, and turns out I already owned it through some bundle I purchased. Some parts had me stumped for a bit but generally the puzzles weren't that hard.

10. Kid Icarus: Uprising (PC) About 20 hours
# Holy shit! This game, I swear. Easily one of the most entertaining games on the 3DS. The writing is top notch, the environments are downright incredible, and the soundtrack is perfect. Uprising has the trifecta. I'd go as far as say this might be one of the best 3DS games. Awkward controls be damned.

11. Metroid (NES/Virtual Console) About 7 hours
# My interest in finally getting invested in the Metroid series started after hearing two coworkers rant about how great it is. So hence, I bought the game on the Wii U Virtual Console. It took me pretty long to beat because holy hell no direction anywhere! It wasn't until after I beat Kraid (which took me forever) that I found out a crap ton of rooms I've already visited had secret breakable walls. Needless to say I finished the game with the Varia Suit, 4 Energy Tanks, 190 missiles (I think) and the Ice Beam. Never did find that Wave Beam. On to Super Metroid!

I think I'll claim a post here too, and get started on this in the morning. This idea sounds fantastic.

SUPER STEALTH EDIT:

11 months and 10 days later... Time to post my progress so far.

I can't really list what I played in chronological order so instead I'll go in the order in which I can remember them!

As it stands, this list makes me feel really bad about the state of my backlog. I've played so many, many, many more games but I've put so little time into them that I have virtually no completion criteria for them met. I had honestly expected to have finished by now until I finally went ahead and counted them all up.

Game 1: Legend of Mana - 25 Hours
This was a beautifully designed game I'd had on my backlog for a long time. I promised myself I wouldn't buy Fantasy Life until I beat it, so I did. I didn't complete all the side stories but it was still a great experience.

Game 2: MGS VR Missions - 10 Hours
I'm a sucker for old-school mission pack-styled expansions. It was much better once the missions had a bit more meat to them and playing as the ninja was great for the whole five minutes of fun the missions offered.

Game 3: MGS Peace Walker HD - 30+ Hours
I played this alongside VR Missions. Also an excellent experience, especially when I played with one of my buddies online. I want to go back to get more of the wackier endgame weapons eventually so I can easily kidnap whole tanks.

Game 4: Dark Souls 2 - 140+ Hours
I'm a huge Dark Souls fan and I was not disappointed. Completed all the Steam achievements for this one and PvP'd until I lost interest, although I haven't had the chance to touch the expansions.

Game 5: Saints Row the Third - 50 Hours
I was kind of skeptical about the game as first, but the humor hooked me in the end. I liked it much more than I expected to, and I'm glad to have finished it. Maybe 80%+ completed?

Game 6: Saints Row 4 - 35 Hours
After having some good expectations from 3, I was a bit annoyed to find out that 4 was more like an expansion to 3 focused around superpowers. The game felt much shorter and I nearly collected everything in one go through the game. Lost interest around the Christmas-themed expansion after the main game. I think I had some fatigue setting in by this point which really didn't help.

Game 7: Final Fantasy V - 25+ Hours
Played through this for the Fiesta. Not my first time to the rodeo and I played with frameskip, but I had to grind a lot to complete the challenges due to my team assortment. I posted about my adventure here. My victory post is right here.

Game 8: NiGHTS into Dreams - 10 Hours
I played through this before on the PS3, but having bought my own Saturn this year it was a joy to play it on the original hardware. Did quite a bit more with the A-life system than I'd done before. This in itself justified the Saturn for me.

Game 9: Christmas NiGHTS - 5+ Hours
I played this in the middle of summer but... Holy shit, so good. I loved the idea of a super deluxe demo, and the unlockables -- especially the Sonic into Dreams bonus were great to see in person, even moreso as a fan of the lost history of Sonic on the system. Will have to boot it up again in a few weeks!

Game 10: Diablo 3 + Reaper of Souls - 400+ Hours
This is the reason I didn't finish more games. Between playing with friends and conquering the Barbarian leaderboards and maxing out several characters, this definitely counts as a completion.

Game 11: Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate - 200+ Hours... For this year.
I revisited this game after pretty much just about finishing it last year, to go for all the awards -- primarily the Artisan's Hammer before MH4 comes out. I didn't get it yet, but the mastery I gained over the monsters this late into the game counts as a completion, I think.

Game 12: Counter-Strike: Global Offensive - Let's not talk about the time put in...
Made it from rock bottom to a very respectable rank in Competitive, and made money to pay for Steam games that I wished would have made this list, but didn't due to playing CS:GO. Whoops!

Game 13: Mario Kart 8 - 30+ Hours
Finished all the tracks on all difficulties, played a lot online. Looking forward to the DLC tracks coming soon!

Game 14: Kirby Super Star - ~8 Hours
Finished all the games. I love the concept. I'm not a huge Kirby fan, but it's very cool to see how adaptable he is to different styles of play.

Game 15: NES Remix - ~12 Hours
Finished all the games. Fuck that golf game, so much.

Game 16: NES Remix 2 - ~12 Hours
Finished all the games. Fuck Wario's Woods, so much.

Game 17: Majora's Mask - 72 Hours... I mean, 20 hours!
I really regret not playing this earlier.

Game 18: Zelda II - ~12 Hours
It was all downhill from the Death Mountain segment, really. It was definitely a departure from the other games in the series but I have to say playing through this one blind, it really felt like I was having an adventure. Props!

Game 19: Hyrule Warriors 30+ Hours, ongoing!
I finished the main story. Working on unlocking more stuff and with plans to progress into the Master Quest and DLC content. I'm not a huge musou fan and I thought I burnt myself out on it after going platinum on Ken's Rage, but I really liked it.

Game 20: Pokemon Y - 200+ Hours
Yes, I got them all. I don't think I have it in me to touch ORAS for the time being thanks to all that effort.

Game 21: Bravely Default - 120 Hours
Great game until the halfway point, but it came together at the end. Pretty much went 100% on it to savor the depth of the battle system. It was a drag at many points, but I don't regret it.

Game 22: Super Smash Bros. for 3DS - 40 Hours
Finished Classic Mode at 9.0, got a positive win/loss in For Glory and the vast majority of the challenges were finished. It's my first trip to the Smash rodeo here, and now I know why everyone loves it.

Game 23: Tomodachi Life - 15+ Hours
I completed the main objective of having some kids and unlocking all the in-game functions. Funny and charming for awhile until some of the jokes and goofy situations repeat. Given the chance, I would have waited to get it at a massive discount.

Game 24: Rusty's Real Deal Baseball - 10 Hours
I finished the "story", and the minigames were very charming. I've been away from them for awhile, but they were worth the (very haggled-down) prices I paid.

Game 25: Fire Emblem Awakening - 90+ Hours
So good. I still work towards getting all the Renown rewards in anticipation of a Lunatic run some time in the future. Need to finish the endgame DLC but I have very high level characters.

Game 26: Animal Crossing: New Leaf - 200+ Hours
I have almost every item in the game since I started last year. This year found the completion of the rest of the encyclopedias and a huge portion of foreign version content thanks to HomePass.

Game 1: Marlow Briggs and the mask of Death - 5 Hours. Bought: 24/10/13 - Finished: 1/1/14
# Bought after watching TBFP, cheesy dialog and predictable story, but damn satisfying to play, would love to see what these guys could do on a bigger budget...Trying to decide if the credits are great or terrible.

Game 2: Metro 2033 - 9 Hours. Bought: 18/07/12 - Finished 4/1/14
# The atmosphere in this game is amazing, failed repeatedly on the stealth sections and Librarian stare downs.. So ended up killing anything that moved. Apparently got the bad ending, though I hear it's the canon one.

Game 3: Ys Chronicles I - 5 Hours. Bought: 24/12/13 - Finished 4/1/14
# Was hard as hell using keyboard but as soon as I swapped over to analog stick it was a bit of a cakewalk...Except for the final boss..15-30sec per try, took me an hour...So many times I got trapped or fell with 1 hit remaining.

Game 4: Castlevania: Lords of Shadow Ultimate Edition (including DLC)- 18 Hours. Bought: 24/12/13 - Finished 9/1/14
# Found myself stumped a few times simply because I forgot about certain abilities (like punching the ground to hit buttons), final boss was a bit of a pain but overall a great experience.

Game 5: Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance (including DLC)- 10.5 Hours. Bought: 20/12/13 - Finished 14/1/14
# Damn this game was fun, a few hiccups with the camera and certain boss fights were frustrating as hell, but glad I didn't play it on PS3, A lot of these games I'll delete as soon as I finish them, this won't be one of those.

Game 6: Bioshock - 8 Hours. Bought 05/05/12 - Finished 19/01/14
# Feel stupid for having this for so long and never playing, but glad I avoided spoilers for so long, ended up with the good ending, but damn that was a disappointing final boss.

Game 7: Bioshock 2 - 7 Hours. Bought 30/10/13 - Finished 21/01/14
# Don't have the DLC so couldn't do Minerva's Den, but overall enjoyable, graphics and atmosphere seemed a bit better than the first, but I don't feel this was quite as good. Did my usual goody two shoes thing and got the good ending, which I was happy with.

Game 8: Mirror's Edge - 5 Hours. Bought 4/10/13 - Finished 22/01/14
# Very impressive game but I had a lot of "Where the F**K do I go?" issues, 2 annoyances, first was the constant valve turning slowing the pace way down, especially in the ship level, the second was the forced gunplay segments, a couple of them I could bypass by dodging..but others I just had to disarm 1 guy then systematically exterminate the rest from cover.

Game 9: Dishonored - 12 Hours. Bought 01/12/13 - Finished 24/01/14
# Really enjoyed this one..I told myself from the start I wouldn't try to do anything special, just play through normally my first time..Was so damn close to Clean Hands/Ghosting this, but I got to a point where I just said "F**K it, You need to die painfully for what you've done!" and flushed that down the toilet, will definitely replay, probably after Thief.

Game 10: Transformers: War For Cybertron - 7.5 Hours. Bought 31/12/13 - Finished 28/01/14
# Enjoyable but not great, liked the faster paced areas racing through and dodging enemies. Boss fights were a bit lackluster. I probably wouldn't have enjoyed this much at all if not for my Transformers filled childhood.

Game 11: The Last Remnant - 110 Hours. Bought 16/10/11 - Finished 12/02/14
# Decided to include 25-30 hours of gameplay with restarts, simply because I count that as a tutorial, completed nowhere near 100%, but after becoming a bit obsessed with this game I wanted to take a break, but knew I may not come back to it for a long time if I did, so burnt through the rest of the story. Good JRPG but has a lot of rough edges, will definitely come back and 100% later.

Game 12: Binary Domain - 8 Hours. Bought 02/01/14 - Finished 13/02/14
# REALLY enjoyed this, getting my controller to work while showing 360 controller prompts took me a while to find, m+kb controls sucked. Been a while since I played a game where I liked every member of the cast, voice acting and dialog (except some of the mid-fight voice overs) seemed really well done and felt natural, new favourite video game couple, loved the ending, though I hear there is a better one, I prefer a bit of bitter sweet.

Game 13: Metro Last Light - 8 Hours. Bought 03/01/14 - Finished 13/02/14
# Damn..Loved this from start to finish, all the issues I had with 2033 seemed to have been fixed, though the enemy detecting you while stealthed is a bit stupid, made those sections far too easy. Also it felt less intimidating and claustrophobic, Artyom seemed much more of a badass. Once again got the bad ending, I was kinda aiming for the good one knocking people out, but then I was reintroduced to the Reich and the Reds and went full murder spree mode.

Game 14:Bioshock Infinite - 8 Hours. Bought 20/12/13 - Finished 15/02/14
# Adored everything about this game except the shooting, the endings visuals were beautifully done. Waiting for Episode 2 before I start the DLC.

Game 15:Call of Juarez Gunslinger - 3 Hours. Bought 02/01/14 - Finished 16/02/14
# Very short but entertaining, the embellished story-telling was a nice touch.

Game 16:Thief (PS4) - 8.5 Hours. Bought 27/02/14 - Finished 28/02/14
# Thoroughly disappointed by this, got sick of going into a room, searching through 10-15 draws to get 8g worth of items..Refunded and paid off The Order, will pick this up again when it's $15 or less on Steam.

Game 17:persona 4 Golden (Vita) - 50 Hours. Bought ??/02/14 - Finished 16/03/14
# Best RPG I've played in a long while, doesn't surprise me that it was a PS2 game, missed a LOT of side-quests, will probably start NG+ after FFX/X2.

Game 18: MGS Ground Zeroes (PS4) - 1 Hour. Bought 20/03/14 - Finished 20/03/14
# Very short but very satisfying, hoping TPP will be of the same quality but at least a 10 hour story.

Game 19: Infamous Second Son - 10ish Hours?. Bought 21/03/14 - Finished 22/03/14
# Completely lost track of time on each of my sessions with this so not really sure about the hours, great game but felt like it really got cut off and a bit anti-climactic. Best game of the new gen so far for me. Working my way through side missions now, bit of a pain having to sign up for the paper trail missions.

Game 20: FFX-HD (Vita) - 44 Hours. Bought 21/03/14 - Finished 22/04/14
#Plan on getting Platinum for this later, but have many RPGs I want to get through on my Vita first, not sure what to say other than it's still a great JRPG. Also I still can't stand FFX-2.

Game 21: Dark Souls- 60 Hours. Bought 24/08/12 - Finished 11/05/14
# God damn this game..I put the 60 hours despite only taking 17 to clear on this playthrough, because all of those attempted playthroughs and deaths were training..I realized my problem before I started my successful one..I was impatient, especially when it was an area I'd gone through once before without dying, I spoiled much of the game ("I'll never finish this, so I'll watch some runs..") Which I do regret, unfortunately I did the same for DS2, Project Beast I'm going in 100% blind.

Game 22: Long Live The Queen - 6 Hours. Bought 29/12/13 - Finished 11/05/14
# Took me 6 hours to survive to become Queen, not the greatest of endings, though she did survive, lead her people and marry for love..so all things considered..pretty good.

Game 23: Uncharted: Golden Abyss (Vita) - 10 Hours. Bought 29/12/13 - Finished 16/05/14
# Extremely impressed with the graphics, didn't know handhelds were capable of this, I really didn't enjoy how aiming was affected by both the right stick and rotating the Vita..So gameplay felt a bit weird.

Game 24: Final Fantasy IX (Vita) - 38 Hours. Bought 2000(Never finished it, so this feels 14 years in the making - Finished 21/05/14
# Definitely one of my favourite FFs regarding story and Vivi has to be the best character in any FF..that being said I thought actual gameplay was terrible for the most part and they really missed the boat on a lot of things that could have made this my favourite FF, but still a ways off. Nowhere near fully completing, but a lot of the mechanics and load times made me want to just finish ASAP.

Game 25: Watch_Dogs (PS4) - 24ish Hours. Bought 27/05/14 - Finished 01/06/14
# A lot of things that should have been expected from an Ubisoft game that people seemed to think would be fixed in this, poor story, constant glitches and rough edges, but I wasn't expecting anything else, if nothing else it's a good time killer and the multiplayer is new and refreshing.

Game 26: Dengan Ronpa Trigger Happy Havoc (Vita)- 22ish Hours. Bought 06/06/14 - Finished 09/06/14
# Had heard glowing reviews but never really delved into what this game was so it was a nice surprise to find the trials so interesting and involved (Never played ace attorney either), at the start of each chapter I found myself stopping to think about who could have done it, what motives they had..Started off quite predictable but the last couple of cases threw me off..thoroughly disappointed with the ending mostly because I hate games that finish with 0 closure and force you to buy the sequal (which I would have done anyway..but still..) to make the game feel..finished. Characters were all assholes though..fought repeatedly to get them off the hook and find the real culprit..then the second anything pointed at Makoto.."HES GUILTY!!! LET'S VOTE!"..so
Kyoko was the only character I ended the game actually liking. Aoi was cool until Sakura died, then acted like a complete bitch. Went from being my favourite "friend" to just another person in the span of 1 case.
I did get frustrated a couple of times trying to match up contradictions..ended up looking online and thinking "How the hell does that contradict that statement?"..Worst part of the game was right after the trials..wandering around and examining everything in the new rooms got tedious, the final trial dragged on probably 10-15mins too long IMO.

Game 27: Dark Souls 2 - 40 Hours. Finished 26/06/14
# Great game, thanks to DS1 as training I managed to get through this in under 2 years..missed quite a bit but I'll probably be starting over fresh before venturing into NG+, was a little disappointed by a lot of the bosses and it took me a while to find which weapon type suited me best, but after that I sort of just glided through the game with little resistance.

Game 28: The Walking Dead Season 1/400 Days - 14 Hours. Finished 16/06/14
# Played this on 360 but since I've decided to play season 2 on PC, I replayed Season 1 for the save file.

Game 29: The Wolf Among Us - 8 Hours. Finished 09/07/14
# I liked this a lot at the beginning, but just found that some of the choices and the reactions of the other characters felt unnatural and forced, At about Episode 3 I would've said it was better than TWD Season 1, but the finale was lame by comparison.

Game 30: Dragon's Crown (Vita) - 18 Hours. Finished 14/07/14
# Really enjoyed this for a while, but transitioning from normal to hard was a bit annoying, I know many would say I haven't finished this til I clear with all characters..but I think I'm done with it.

Game 31: Valkyria Chronicles 2 (Vita) - 29 Hours. Finished 28/07/14
# Great game and loved the first, but I felt it dragged on a little too long, mostly needing to finish 4 missions just to get to the story ones at the end. Beasted everything with Avan as a Fencer...Didn't like the RNG for class changes..many of my units didn't break past the 2nd tier. It's been a long time, but I remember the original's story to be stronger and felt less episodic.

Game 32: The Last Of Us Remastered (PS4) - 14 Hours. Finished 03/08/14
# Glad I skipped out on this on PS3, but it definitely wasn't as polished as I'd heard it was, Ellie and enemies repeatedly became stuck on geometry and the skybox popping up constantly in certain areas was terrible. That being said, it was beautiful and emotional, really can't wait to see what Naughty Dog can do with Uncharted 4.

Game 33: Ys Seven (Vita) - 17 Hours. Finished 04/08/14
# Very predictable but enjoyable, because of the constant mashing of attack and roll my thumb would repeatedly cramp up, I think I need to get a grip before I try Celcetta. I feel a few things went over my head having only played Chronicles 1 and most of 2 (like meeting up with Geis.).

Game 34: Proteus (Vita) - 2 Hours. Finished 08/08/14
# Very pretty but left my clueless, just wandered around..can't say I "finished" anything, but I'm done with this.

Game 35: Hotline Miami (Vita) - 7 Hours. Finished 08/08/14
# Loved the start of this but I felt it became tiresome after chapter 10, the early chapters I was much more aggressive and mobile, storming rooms and taking risks, after many many deaths later in the game it became more about picking up a gun, hiding in a corner and shooting enemy after enemy as they ran through a door attracted by the gunfire. Took me til the final boss to realize I could throw weapons..the epilogue chapters were great and made it feel more like those first chapters.

Game 36: Metrico (Vita) - 1 Hours. Finished 14/08/14
# Was somewhat enjoying this until the "rotate and almost drop your Vita to do stupid bullshit" segment..I'm done with this

Game 37: Muramasa Rebirth (Vita) - 9 Hours. Finished 15/08/14
# Have to say, outside of the bosses, I enjoyed this more than Dragon's Crown, played it on the easier difficulty though.

Game 38: Gravity Rush (Vita) - 10(Not sure, save says 3 hours but I know that's not right..) Hours. Finished 15/08/14
# Loved this game, story was pretty predictable and felt Kat was dumb as a brick sometimes, Raven felt like a better and more interesting character to me.

Game 39: Destiny - Ungodly amount of Hours.
# Really excited for this game and played it nonstop for a month or so..then suddenly 1 week I couldn't be bothered doing my raids for the week..then the next week no raids or nightfall..then I was done.

Game 40: Dragon Age Inquisition - 40 Hours.
# Really enjoyed this, huge improvement over DA2, I did feel it dragged on and didn't do a lot of the side quests simply because I didn't really like any of the companions.

Game 41: Dark Souls - 25 Hours.
# Replayed just because..

Game 42: World of Warcraft - Oh god why did I start this again
# With Australian servers and a new expac I picked this up again, druid 1-100, Pally boosted, dk to 90..I think I'm done again.

# Overrated game, meh tier PlatinumGames, come at me!

Game 24: Fire Emblem Awakening - 40 hrs (2 Aprill 2014)

# Great graphic, great gameplay, very short

Game 29: Demon Gaze - 40 hrs (10 May 2014)

Game 30: Ratchet and Clank Into the Nexus - 20 hrs (15 May 2014)

Game 34: Batman Arkham City - 25 hrs (5 June 2014)
# Nothing much to said here

Game 35: PixelJunk Shooter Ultimate - 20 hrs (7 June 2014)
# Really really good, I love it

Game 41: Darksiders 2 - 30 hrs (29 June 2014)
# Awful game, too bloated for its own good, should just cut half of the game.

Game 42: Senran Kagura Shinovi Versus - 25 hrs (1 July 2014)
# Discounted on PS Store for like 15 dollars, in Japanese language which I don't understand, pretty good and fun gameplay, the fanservice is novelty, you get tired of it and skip it after seen it a few time.

Game 43: Hannah Montana - 5 hrs (2 July 2014)
# Yeah it's Hannah Montana, Yes I did play this game, I mean Shuhei Yoshida even platinum'd it (I reckon it's his daughter that plyed it), but it's pretty fun kiddy game.

Game 44: Soul Calibur 2 HD - 20 hrs (4 July 2014)
# I just cleared the story or whatever it is and it's pretty much a tutorial and I still didn't find myself good at it after that

Game 45: Dekamori Senran Kagura or Bot Appetit in English - 25 hrs (10 July 2014)
# It's translated in Chinese by Sony, pretty good and simple rhythm game, the Hard and DLC Characters song were really HARD though but the song is really good to hear, heavier fanservice than Shinovi Versus.

Game 46: Legend of Heroes Sen no Kiseki - 150 hrs (27 July 2014)
# Yes you read that right 150 hrs, though it's total playtime, I beat the game in 120 hrs. This is another game translated into Chinese by Sony and Falcom, I skipped all the previous game and went right into this game, I don't care what you think that I should play all previous game, I understand this game and having fun with it, that's all that matters to me. The game is really text heavy, I get sleepy a lot playing this game. The NPC had like 3-4 boxes of text and every single time something happens their text changed, they react to the event happening in the game world and there's a tons of NPC and I talk to every single one of them which contributed to that 150 playtime. The battle system is Grandia based and while nothing special, the M Quartz and Quartz system is what its all about, it's fun tinkering them. Thanks to Sony and Falcom to making this available for me to play, I really had a hard time learning Japanese (which is a lie since I don't even know where to begin to learn).

Game 47: Jacob Jones - 3 hrs (28 July 2014)
#Free PS+ game, adventure games, nothing special I just figured I should beat it since its short and I need refreshing after beating Sen no Kiseki

Game 48: Monster Monpiece - 20 hrs (4 August 2014)
#Oh look a hentai game which this is not, yeah this have rubbing system to make the card stronger and lessen their clothing but the card battle is really fun. But whatever it's hentai game right hurr durr and you should be ashamed hurr durr.

Game 49: Uneathed Trail of Ibn Battuta episode 1 - 4 hrs (15 August 2014)
# LOL an Uncharted clone by amateur dev, this game is really bad but it's free on PS+ and I always wanted to try it so whatever.

Game 50: PlayStation AllStar Battle Royale - 20 hrs (17 August 2014)
# The only bad thing is the cast, not enough memorable character like Cloud, Crash, etc. With more memorable character it should be good.

Game 51: Pac-man Championship DX - 10 hrs (18 August 2014)
#Free PS+ game so I just beat the trophies

Game 52: Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons - 4 hrs (18 August 2014)
#This is a great game!

LOOK I have cleared the goal. You want to know the secret? Just read GAF or whatever website you're visitting for its NEWS and don't ENGAGE in comment.

Game 53: Madagascar 3 - 8 hrs (22 August 2014)
#Bought it last year for like 3 dollars, I figured why not and it's been taunting me to play it ever since and my PS3 HDD is almost empty so I just play it to delete it.

Game 54: Dangaronpa 2 - 50 hrs (28 August 2014)
#Better than first game which is already a GREAT GREAT game, must have!

Game 55: inFamous First Light - 5 hrs (31 August 2014)
# Looks better than Second Son and plays better, shorter though.

Game 56: Flower - 4 hrs (6 September 2014)
#Great game, awful control

Game 57: Knack - 10 hrs (7 August 2014)
#Pretty good game, I reckon everybody dislike it because there are no platforming and the battle is simple as fuck but it's pretty fun to play on harder difficulty.

Game 58: Tales of Xillia - 70 hrs (8 August 2014)
#I already on the final boss area last year but GTA V was coming out so I dropped it and play GTA instead lol, so I beat the final boss and replay it again for Platinum run.

Game 69: Resident Evil Revelations - 12 hrs (15 August 2014)
#I played the 3DS version which is awful because of the control but the graphic on the 3DS in mindblowing, it's a mystery how Capcom did that. On PS3 it's better because of control, you lose 3D but honestly who the fuck still uses 3D system on 3DS?

Game 60: Noby Noby Boy - 4 hrs (15 September 2014)
#There is no beating this game but I cleared all trophy so I'd thought that counts!

Game 61: God of War Ascension - 12 hrs (16 September 2014)
#It's God of War, every game feels the same to me but it's good game so yeah.

Game 62: Total Recoil - 10 hrs (23 September 2014)
#Pretty addictive and fun little game on Vita, I got it for 1 dollar too which is a steal.

Game 63: L.A. Noire - 30 hrs (23 September 2014)
#Great great game, love this game so much, hope to hear about Whore of the Orient soon!

Game 64: Magus - 6 hrs (27 September 2014)
#So bad it's good game, the entire game is laughable but you conquer the world after you beat it lol and you have Lightning / Liara as your subordinate, how cool is that lol

Game 65: Transistor - 6 hrs (19 October 2014)
#Great game, great music, great graphic. great system yeah I don't have a huge vocabulary

Game 66: The Legend of Korra - 8 hrs (22 October 2014)
#Mini Bayonetta, exclusively NOT on WiiU. Great game, obviously critically panned because come on game reviewer CAN NOT play game, every single one of them!

Game 67: Legend of Heroes Sen no Kiseki 2 - 100 hrs (31 October 2014)
#Sequel to Sen no Kiseki obviously and translated in Chinese once again! The game is shorter because it's more action, more story focused because the first game is all about introductory to the worldview and characters, this is focusing on what's left from the first game. Still leaving a lot of mystery to be answered in next game which looks like 2 years from now because they're making Ys 8 for PS4 next year. though I don't mind and I really hope Falcom made a new Zwei game!

Game 68: Steamworld Dig - 6 hrs (7 November 2011)
#Wow this game is beautiful, I loved this type of visual presentation and holy shit the game is only 100~ Mb. Nothing special about this game, you just keep digging and upgrading but it's fun!

I thought I'd add a few to the list that I started over the weekend.

Game 1: Assassins Creed 1 - In Progress
# Hoping to have a crack at playing all Assassin Creeds this year. Gave it a go last year but only got as far as halfway through 2.

Game 2: Borderlands 2 - In Progress
# Had a lot of fun with Borderlands 1. I'm finding number 2 is just as addictive.

Game 3: Resident Evil 4 (GC version) - Completed 14:14'10"
# Still one of the best games I've played, only slightly let down by the rather short ending.

Game 4: Project Zero/Fatal Frame - Completed 4:38:24 Rank B
# Still a great game, think I might be brave enough to do the trilogy

UPDATE: I think this May be harder than I thought.

Ok, I'm in. I'll update this with games I'm currently playing (and intend to finish), and again when they are completed. My definition of complete will be "see the credits" or "finish the story mode." If that doesn't apply to a given game I will specify what alternate criteria I used.

Game 1: Papers Please - Completed January 3 (2 endings so far - 3:17)
Deeper and more interesting than I had expected.

Game 2: Dark Souls - Completed January 16 (44:37) PLATINUM JANUARY 28
Not the first time I've finished it, but my first time doing the DLC and my first time beating every boss without summoning. Dark Souls never gets old.

Game 3: Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition - Completed February 6 (roughly 10 hours)
What a great game! I really didn't expect to enjoy it as much as I did, I mostly got it to see how nice it looks on PS4 (it looks really, really nice).

Game 4: Spelunky - Completed February 13 (defeated Olmec, not idea how many total hours)
I finally managed to beat Olmec on a warmup for the Daily Challenge. I then beat him a second time right after that while playing the Daily. Well, on to Hell!

Game 5: LoZ:ALBW - in progress

Game 6: Persona 4 Golden - in progress
First JRPG I have enjoyed in years.

Ha, that's an average of one game per week. Might as well try, but there's no way I'll make it.

J A N U A R Y

Game 1: Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag - 17:29:02 (Finished January 3)
# Story was far more compelling than I expected it to be and the game was far better in general than anticipated coming from ACIII.

Game 2: Katawa Shoujo (Shizune route) - ~10 hours (Started on December 30, 2013, finished on January 1, 2014)
# I had played all of the other Katawa Shoujo routes except for this one previously, but I'll count it. Probably the weakest route out of all of them, but it was nice to return to the game after I hadn't played it for a while.

Game 3: Killzone: Shadow Fall - ~10 hours (Finished January 8)
# Mediocre is an apt word for the game. I pretty much forced myself to power through the game so I could trade it in to GameStop while the trade-in value is still relatively high. Characters sucked, especially the main character, though I did like the game's ending (before the post-credits scene).

Game 4: Mass Effect 3: Leviathan + Citadel - ~10.5 hours combined (Leviathan = ~3hrs, Citadel = ~7hrs) (Finished January 13)
# Finally getting to the remaining ME3 DLC made me sad. I had heard Omega wasn't worth getting, so for the first time I watched a game (or at least a significant chunk of one) via a Youtube playthrough without any commentary and I would have indeed been frustrated at paying $15 for it.

# Playing Leviathan and, to a much larger extent, Citadel reminded me of how much I loved the Mass Effect series. The series has so much personality, so much care and with so many awesome characters. Citadel was really fun because of its seemingly intentional campy nature and, as Vinny from Giant Bomb put it once, it's as if the developers wanted to leave fans with a good memory of the trilogy instead of the bad taste that the ending left with some and which it definitely did for me. After ME3's ending, I completely abandoned the idea of replaying the trilogy with another Shepard and was filled with such disgust that they managed to screw up the ending to the series so greatly, despite what Leviathan or the extended cut might have tried to rectify.

# Glad I at least got to remember why I once loved the series so much through the DLC.

Game 5: Zeno Clash - ~3 hours (Finished January 14)
# The designs sure were unsettling. I could tell a lot of the game lacked refinement, but the utter strangeness of the world made up for it. The hand-to-hand combat was fun for the most part, too. The ending wasn't all that great; maybe the sequel will make up for that once I get to it.

F E B R U A R Y

Game 6: The Wolf Among Us (Season 1) [Episode 2] - ~2 hours (Finished February 5)
# Episode 2 felt more restricted than episode 1, but it was still enjoyable. I like the game's style and the character interactions are engaging. The intrigue's a bit weird, but I'm hoping it'll pick up sooner than later, maybe starting with episode 2's cliffhanger.

Game 7: The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds - 15:54 (Finished February 10)
# I've never played A Link to the Past before, so I entered this game without the context or any memories of that one. I didn't expect to enjoy it as much as a lot of other people seemed to for that reason, but I really enjoyed the game anyways.

# I liked the game's open-ended nature where the player could follow the path of their choosing, as well as the lack of guidance, leaving the player to discover things on their own. This caused me to check a walkthrough a couple of times when I was absolutely stuck, but that's just fine and I prefer that to having every little thing explained to me.

# The game felt exceptionally well to play, the music was great (I especially enjoyed all of the escalating music depending on events), the story ended up being more engaging to me than it did at the start and it was just fun times all around.

Game 8: Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc - 31:05:16 (Finished February 16)
# I absolutely loved this game. I was a bit wary going into it because of the amount of praise it had gotten after what I believe was the release of the fan translation, but this is totally in my wheelhouse. It really is a combination of Ace Attorney, Zero Escape, Battle Royale and a bit of Persona 3/4 with the "Free Time" moments that lets players interact with the other characters at their leisure.

# I can't imagine that this game wouldn't make it to the top 10 2014 games for me. I can't wait for its sequel to be released later this year.

M A R C H

Game 9: The Walking Dead (Season 2) [Episode 2] - ~2 hours (Finished March 4)
# This episode was much better than the first episode. I liked the first one, but it was naturally more of an introduction to the "new" setting and crew. I liked the choices, or the illusions thereof, in this episode more, too.

Game 10: Bravely Default - 53:52:06 (March 12)
# This was an enjoyable game until it all fell apart starting with chapter 5. I enjoyed the game's combat mechanics, the music and I wasn't even bothered by the voice acting. The story seemed generic at first, but I was okay with it. But the game becomes an outrageous cycle of repetition from chapter 5 to chapter 8 that I could not tolerate. The game was 30-40 hours long from chapter 1-4, so I'm not sure why they decided to pad the game out so explicitly from that point on. It's rare that I play a game that gets dramatically worse as it goes on, but this was one of them. (More in-depth post of my opinions here)

Game 11: Dark Souls II - 51:27:36 (March 29)
# This was my second favorite Souls game after Demon's Souls. For some reason, Dark Souls' connected overworld, along with inferior network implementation to the previous game, turned me off and I eventually stopped playing 3/4 into the game and haven't gone back yet. It might be because of bonfire transportation being available right at the beginning of the game, but I was into DSII right from the beginning and even though I grew a bit weary of it near the end, it was an overall enjoyable experience. I probably won't do any New Game + content anytime soon.

A P R I L

Game 12: inFamous: Second Son - ~11 hours (April 5)
# This was a fun and really beautiful game. All of the characters were pretty good as well as their interactions, though I would have wanted more of the latter. Gameplay felt a bit tedious at times with bullet sponge enemies, but it worked for the most part. The story was fine, though pretty straightforward, at least while playing as a good guy. The game was shorter than I expected.

Game 13: The Wolf Among Us (Season 1) [Episode 3] - ~1.5 hours (Finished April 8)
# My favorite episode of TWAU so far. So much happened and it was intriguing the whole way through. I have some concerns as to whether the story will be able to conclude satisfyingly at the end of season 1 seeing how the scope of the story increased in this episode, but for now I'm interested to see what comes next. Considering the painful release schedule, I'm glad I'm still enjoying this so much.

Game 14: Call of Duty: Ghosts - ~6 hours (Finished April 17)
# The most boring Call of Duty I've played yet. Only bothered playing the campaign this time around without touching the multiplayer, and I literally didn't care about any of the characters in it. Usually, CoD has at least a few characters I have a decent attachment to, but there were none in Ghosts; not even the dog. The set pieces were not very exciting, with a few exceptions, and the story was just boring as hell. There were a few good character moments, but not nearly enough. The ending might set up a cool idea for a sequel, but I'm not sure I really care after finishing the game.

M A Y

Game 15: The Walking Dead (Season 2) [Episode 3] - ~1h40m (Finished May 13)
# That was a good episode. Tense, exciting and all that. It's what I've come to expect out of the series.

Game 16: The Wolf Among Us (Season 1) [Episode 4] - ~1h20m (Finished May 28)
# I liked this episode. Definitely less and less player input in terms of exploration or puzzle solving happening, but I guess I don't mind too much. Things are building up to a pretty good final episode, so hopefully the end of this season doesn't disappoint.

J U N E

Game 17: Conception II: Children of the Seven Stars - 35h01m (Finished June 1)
# Pretty mediocre game overall. Dungeon crawling was repetitive and tedious, despite the somewhat interesting battle system. The story was generic and rather uninteresting and very few of the characters were particularly appealing, although the voice acting was actually good in general. I'm not one for this kind of dating sim that seems to revolve around pandering more than anything, so I wasn't too into that major aspect of the game, next to the boring dungeon crawling.

Game 18: Watch Dogs - ~15h (Finished June 15)
# I liked it. This is probably the first modern Ubisoft open world game where I skipped most of the side mission type things because I just couldn't be bothered. Focusing on completing the main missions, I was relatively invested in the story and I thought a lot of the characters were pretty good. The ending wasn't anything special, but I liked how it all wrapped up. Encounters where I could freely use stealth and hacking were the most fun I had with Watch Dogs and, knowing the Assassin's Creed's series progression, it'll be interesting to see what happens with Watch Dogs 2.

J U L Y

Game 19: Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth: Prosecutor's Path (ver. 1.0) - (Finished July 5)
# The fans involved in this did a fantastic localization job; it's practically an official work with the quality work that was put into it. The game itself is one of the best in the Ace Attorney series and much better than its predecessor, with the cases all being connected in a great way and with cameos that were fun to see and were all relatively important. I'm so glad I got to play this game and it's a real shame Capcom passed this one over when it would have been good to play this as a precursor to Ace Attorney 5.

Game 20: The Wolf Among Us (Season 1) [Episode 5] - 1h (Finished July 8)
# That... was it? Direction and sound design felt very weird right up until the
Bloody Mary
confrontation was done. That whole scene, in particular, felt so haphazard and anticlimactic. Same goes for that
car chase
scene before it.

Felt very tunneled into the rest of the scenes, which was the usual for any episode past the second one, but those are still good since the characters and dialogue make up for it.
I killed the Crooked Man and didn't even have to think about it. No way was I giving him a chance to escape and killing him was the right thing to do. The rest of the characters came around to that decision, too, which was cool.

Didn't really comprehend the ending twist (and still don't particularly) until reading a few replies in this thread. Interesting, I guess, but not as impactful for me as it was probably designed to be.

It was really short at an hour, too. I'm done with modern Telltale adventure games until more episodes are out and until they're heavily discounted, as they tend to be, because they've not been the greatest of experiences. The conclusion wasn't particularly disappointing, but I'll be happier when I don't have to wait and don't have to deal with the overall problems TTG games have caused me recently.

Game 21: The Wolf Among Us (Season 2) [Episode 4] - ~1h (Finished July 22)
# It was a good episode, though I'm starting to get weary of how little input one actually has concerning the direction of the story in these Telltale games.

A U G U S T

Game 22: Steins;Gate - ~25:15:25 (Finished August 4)
# Really enjoyable game. It has a very slow start, but then it goes places I wasn't really expecting it to and it made for an engaging story. Definitely one of the best VNs I've played.

Game 23: The Walking Dead (Season 2) [Episode 5] - ~1h30m (Finished August 26)
# A good conclusion to the second season of this series. It's interesting how the episode branches out into multiple endings depending on the player's final choices, though I doubt they'll have a significant impact on the third season.

Game 24: Persona 4 The Ultimax Ultra Suplex Hold - ~13 hours (Finished August 28)
# A significantly stronger story mode than the prequel (though I could only understand the English VA and not the Japanese text). The format isn't a mess, thankfully, and there are a lot of memorable moments. Unfortunately, I think the revelation of the mastermind behind everything and how that is resolved was very disappointing.

Game 25: Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair - ~40:23:18 (Finished September 7)
# A lot of people said this game was extraordinarily better than its predecessor and, although I disagree with that, I still slightly prefer it to the first Danganronpa, which I had really enjoyed earlier in the year. The cases and classroom trials were much better than the previous game, and it was just as engaging as Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc.

O C T O B E R

Game 26: Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - 31:00 (Finished October 19)
# An enjoyable game, with a real bad (apparently fully Laytonesque) ending. Layton shouldn't always have been one step ahead of everyone at all times; it would have been more interesting if Phoenix Wright was at least on equal grounds during the court segments.

Game 27: NAME - DURATION PLAYED
# INSERT INFO AND COMMENTS HERE

Damn if I would have waited 2 hours Binary Domain could have been my #1 lol.
anyway:

Game 1: Ni No Kuni - 15 hours (In Progress)
# The beast of my current "to play" list. Taking up tons of HDD space, but also is in the way of me playing my PSN+ titles.

Game 2: Pokemon Y - 14 Hours (In Progress)
# Second playthough, at the 7th gym been trudging through it again slowly.

Game 3: Motorstorm Apocalypse 7 hours: (Completed!)
# Grabbed it randomly for $5. Fun yet kinda unbalanced playthough. Got random at the end, not hard but the AI was all over the place. Story was fucking stupid as well as everything else in the game but it was fun none the less.

Game 4: Project X Zone 5 Hours (In Progress)
# Really enjoying this more than I thought I would. One of those to support the awesomeness of the cross over. Even though I did not like the previous game I really am liking the time im putting into it.

Game 5: Shin Megami Tensei 4, 6 hours (In Progress)
Liking it but have yet to have that urge to keep at it daily.

Game 6 Liberation Maiden 30 minutes (In Progress)
Fun game and I only played the first level since buying it lol. Really enjoying it for what it is.

Game 7 Ninja Gaiden 3 Razor's Edge 1 Hour (In Progress)
Played the first and about half of the second level. Really hate how constant the attacks are, feels just rabid now.

Game 8 Ninja Gaiden Sigma 8 hours (In progress)
Bought this with Sigma 2 early last year and did not really play them. Beat Black years ago, going though this now. Forgot how bad the camera and controls are lol. Wanted to knock it out before jumping into 3 since I am near the end.

Game 9 Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory 0 hours (In Progress)
Got on sale, played it to see if it worked since its used and put it on the shelf. Looking forward to playing it since it is the kinda humor I could use atm. Looking at it after Ni No Kuni

Game 10:...

Going to go and mark all the ones I have intention of starting and playing through. Ordered by sequential order of the first time playing in 2014.

Completed Games: 52 - Done

| Abbreviated Post | Detailed Post Part 2 | HowLongToBeat Tracking Account |

GAME 1: Pokemon Blue Version - 29 hours (COMPLETE) - January 6th
# Nuzlocke Run
# Well, this was an interesting one. My second ever Nuzlocke and I lost quite a few. I forgot how absolutely horrible the AI was in the originals. Most of my deaths were in trying to level up Pokemon to my team's general level. Once I had a team all up, it was easy enough. I also took some max repels with a Masterball to get a Zapdos. Made the matchups in the Elite Four much easier. Beat them with all my Pokemon in the 40s.

GAME 2: Tearaway - 6 Hours (COMPLETE) - January 4th
# Beat Main Story
# Oh, a charming, charming game. Loved it, despite its short length. Just wanted more and more of it. It made waiting around for my Jury Duty stuff an enjoyable experience. Even taking the train into the city became an enjoyable romp. The story was a nice shot of imagination that I haven't seen in a while. I actually don't care too much for the LBP series, but Media Molecule has made be a believer with this amazing game.

Game 3: Paper Mario: Sticker Star - 12 hours about (Incomplete)
# First couple hours from 2013

Game --: Dokuro - 2 hours about (Dropped)
# First hour from 2013, PS+
# Dropped because I really, really don't care.

GAME 4: Beyond: Two Souls - 10 Hours (COMPLETE) - January 7th
# Beat main story to one ending
# I know this game has its reputation, but I really enjoyed it. I also really enjoyed Heavy Rain. My main complaints with this game are in a few areas. The movement controls need to be refined and made more flexible so small collisions are not so frustrating. The story structure itself could have been much better. While the sporadic moments of Jodie's life worked in the end, many of the early moments felt jarring because of it. Lastly, the ending. The very ending. If you played it, you probably know what I'm talking about. Horrible. Only moment I legitimately laughed at when it happened. Besides those, I really liked the game.

GAME 5: Ys: Memories of Celceta - 20 Hours (COMPLETE) - January 17th
# Quite enjoyed the game. Combat was particularly fun. More so than I usually have on JRPGs. It took until the last 2.7% of the map completion for me to not want to go through the trivial parts of competing it. The ending though, eeehhhhhhhh... Was okay. I enjoyed the entire game thoroughly besides a few things like the ending.

GAME 6: Thomas Was Alone - 3 Hours (COMPLETE) - January 9th
# Very nice little game. I really liked the story. The narration was charming and the platforming was only annoying for a couple of the levels. On the shorter side, yes. Though, it didn't feel as though there needed to be more. A short yard of puzzle based platforming. Very good for what it is.

GAME 7: Garry's Mod - 10 Hours (COMPLETE) - July 19th
# Fully Multiplayer Game, will mark as completed with 10 hours. Started at 13 hours registered on steam account
# Now at 23 hours. Finished the game. Have put off playing it for a while just because I had other things on my plate. I'm sure I'll play it again with my friends in the future.

GAME 8: Super Smash Bros. Brawl - 11 Hours (COMPLETE) - February 1st
# Project M
# Multiplayer focused. Playing with friends. Will count as complete once I hit 10 hours
# Finished with a four hour session with friends that lasted to 4am in the morning. Bad idea, lol. Hit my goal for "completion" status as a multiplayer game. Have played MANY more hours of this since "completion"

Game --: Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles - 4 Hours (Dropped)
# Playing with a group of four friends
# Dropped out of lack of interest from the group to continue

GAME 9: Ratchet & Clank - 11 Hours (COMPLETE) - January 31st
# Started the first one in 2013. Plan to go through the first four games.
# Ah, I've always been a big fan of this series. The first game, however... Too many frustrating things. No strafe, checkpoints way back... It started to get really annoying after a while. Happy I'm done with it. Time to get to the sequel with all its signature upgrades that made the series great!

GAME 10: Lone Survivor Director's Cut - 4 Hours (COMPLETE) - January 31st
# Well, it is done. The only part that came above tolerable for me was the story. The vagueness and uniqueness kept me going as I was legitimately interested in what actually was going on. Everything else, though? Well, lets just say it got annoying enough that I started using a guide about a third through the game. Too many instances of running around and not figuring out what to do because you missed a prompt and thought you searched that area.

Game --: Dragon's Crown - 10 Hours (Dropped)
# Started in 2013. Playing through the game in a group of four friends.
# Game save file corrupted

GAME 11: Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando - 13 Hours (COMPLETE) - February 7th
# Second game in the series. WIll be doing all the PS2 ones.
# Ah, the strafing! The STRAFING! Makes the game so much more enjoyable than the first. You can see a lot of u[grades here that did wonders to the series.

Game --: Fire Emblem Awakening - 2 Hours (Dropped)
# Replaying on Hard
# Not feeling it anymore. After a long time on the back burner, I will take this replay and remove it from my playing log.

GAME 12 Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal - 9 Hours (COMPLETE) - April 12th
# Third game is series. Will continue my playthrough of all 4 PS2 ones before I get to Into the Nexus.
# Lives up to what i remembered about the series. Great weapons, humor, and gameplay. I rushed through it a little, but the collectathon parts and arena parts that I usually partake in to their completion felt a little stale after playing Going Commando so recently. Still, great game and easily in the running for best in the series. Will play Deadlocked next when I get around to it.

GAME 13: Brothers: Tale of Two Sons - 3 Hours (COMPLETE) - February 8th
# PS+
# Pretty short, but lives up to the hype. Very good, with a unique gameplay system. What an ending...

Game 14: Pokemon Y - 30 Hours (Incomplete)
# Nuzlocke Run
# Now that Pokebank is out, I can finally start this! YEAAAAHHHHH. Hope I don't lose... :(
# Semi-important note... The game has a tendency to count time that my 3DS is in sleep mode/flipped closed. SO it might be inaccurate

GAME 15: Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc - 23 Hours (COMPLETE) - February 15th
# This game is AWESOME! I feel as though it'll end up feeling all too short though...
# Great game and exactly what I expected it to be. Story is great, characters are interesting, and it always keeps you on edge. AA + Zero Escape + Persona's Social Links is a very accurate description of this game. My only issue was how long the game took to make the mysteries not quite obvious. If you play this game, it will be great. Just set logic difficulty to mean or its going to be too obvious.

GAME 16: Minecraft - 10 Hours (COMPLETE) - July 11th
# No Ending, will count as finished with 10 hours played
# Server with friends over summer started recently. Took very little time to put the time in for this. Mind you, we will be playing much more than 10 hours/

Game 17: Castle Crashers - 3 Hours (Incomplete)
# Playing with group of friends

GAME 18: Dyad - 3 Hours (COMPLETE) - February 23rd
# PS+
# Eh, I got in on PS+ and it wasn't supposed to be very long. So, I decided to give it a try. Personally, its okay, but I would not play it again. It certainly one of those games that are all about getting high scores and those don't interest me for too long. It is really trippy, mind you. I like the mechanics, its just not one that keeps me hooked long enough to really like it.

GAME 19: Bravely Default - 62 Hours (COMPLETE) - May 16th
# I was really feeling like starting something fresh with a strategic element. In the end, I succumbed and bought this
# In the end, I put off doing the final boss for some time. I messed up at a point and lost the first time, so it was probably a month or before I actually got back and beat the game. I really liked the game. Well, I liked it. Its a weird limbo I have going on that many likely do with this game. The gameplay was fun, strategic, and innovative. The story was nice though predictable. The music was great. You have the infamous slog, though. About midway through the game, the developers decided to lengthen the game by adding in a repetitive arch of the story that was horrible. At first, though, it was okay. Optional bosses opened up and they were fun, but those got stale quickly enough. Its a very good game, bar a large arch of it that feels like the biggest dead weight in a game I've seen yet.

GAME 20: Walking Dead Season 2 Episode 2-5 - ?? Hours (COMPLETE) - March 6th
# I don't know how I feel about making this a game. I might fold any more episodes this year into it. Also didn't keep track of the hours, so probably around 3-5 hours for episode 2.
# Completed Episode 3 - May 13th
# Completed Episode 4 - June 26th (Man I think I made some bad choices here)
# Completed Episode 5 - August 27th

GAME 21: Ever 17: The Out of Infinity - ?? Hours (COMPLETE) - March 15th
# Didn't keep track of time, but likely between 20 and 25 hours.
# Some parts I really liked, some parts I really didn't. The overarching plot was good. Some parts like the big twist really felt off to me. A lot of the mindfuck was done very well, just some parts felt off or stupid enough to make it not all feel cohesive enough to leave me satisfied with it. Takeshi's (and company's) story overall was really what I liked a lot. Some of the plot threads (Sora's a glaring example of this) were examples of being really forced. I won't go into any more explanation than this since anymore and its big time spoiler territory. Overall, though, I really liked it and the things I found wrong simply stand out because of how much I enjoyed the rest of the game.

Game 22: Alpha Protocol - 2 Hours (Incompete)
# Got it cheap as a used game. Started it up, will likely come back to it later when I'm actually in the mood to play it.

GAME 23: rain - 3 Hours (COMPLETE) - March 20th
# A very clearly "artsy" game. In a very good way I might add. Short and sweet. It's story was quite interesting, with an interesting premise driving the gameplay. As a game, it was okay. Primarily, its gameplay dragged it down since its prevalence combined with its insesant average quality couldn't be ignored. I couldn't help but think how good of a movie it could make, though. I'd really like to see that.

GAME 24: Never 7: The End of Infinity - 21 Hours (COMPLETE) - March 29th
# Ever 17's little sibling. Time to find out if its any good. Doing English patch, of course.
# Well... Its not Ever 17, but it wasn't all that bad. Only really for those that would know they'd enjoy it before hand, in my opinion.

Game --: Civilization V - 4 Hours (Dropped)
# This one with probably be dropped, but I'll put it here just in case. Played some with some friends, got bored 4 hours into the game. I might play the game again, but I don't see myself doing it to an extent that it could be considered finished.
# Dropped out of logically seeing this will never be finished.

Game 25: 999: The Novel - ?? Hours (Incomplete)
# Officially my toilet time game. What better way to spend your time in the bathroom? Will take a long time to beat, though.

GAME 26: inFamous: Second Son - 13 Hours (COMPLETE) - March 31st
# Got my PS4. First game for it... Let's go!
# Played through, did the hero route. Very fun game. My only complaint would be that its a tad on a shorter side. To note, I never really found the sidequest design all the bad like some like to yell about. The combat was a big upgrade. All the different powers were a treat with their various ways of going about it. Neon was, undoubtedly, the best though. Personally I liked it more than the first two games. I just had more fun with it and it never got to the point of infuriating frustration like the first two did at times.

GAME 27: Remember 11: The Age of Infinity - 20 Hours (COMPLETE) - May 15th
# Ever 17's big brother. Hopefully not as disappointing as the little brother.
# I enjoyed it a lot. More than Never 7, but not as much as Ever 17. The issue I heard about it going into it was abundantly clear... it doesn't feel entirely done. It feels like they were rushed and hard to finish it, so they cut out a decent amount of the endgame content. So much is left unexplained on the table with only vague hints at what may be the answer. They covered most of the important stuff, so its not all bad. But after all the mind games and strong lines of answers Ever 17 (and Never 7, to a lesser extent) did, its just a tad disappointing that I find myself going online to find answers people have worked out instead of the game itself. Again, still good and highly suggested (English patch was excellent), just not at the level of its predecessor. (Also, if you play this VN, look up some of the more detailed answers to stuff online. A lot of real subtle stuff in the game that seeing would clear up a lot of confusion).

Game 28: Resogun - 4 Hours (COMPLETE) - October 25th
# Will beat all the levels on normal to meet the complete requirement. It should be a short game to do this. In line with other short games I have done.
# Ended up doing it on easy/rookie. Fun, but I'm not very good at it.

GAME 29: Jade Cocoon: Story of the Tamamayu - 14 Hours (COMPLETE) - April 20th
# This was my favorite game on the PS1 growing up. Replaying it because I felt like it.
# Easier than I remember it, but still a lot of what I remember. Great merging system, interesting story and lore, and a good soundtrack. Will probably play the sequel again when I get the disc and a PS2 available to me again. Its a short enough game that I'd suggest anyone who enjoys RPGs or JRPGs try it even if through emulation (disc copies are pretty rare nowadays).

GAME 29: Towerfall Ascension - 6 Hours (COMPLETE) - August 30th
# Playing through the single player / co-op mode. My friends and I have played this as a group well before I tried this mode.
# Finished it off with a friend over a couple hours via co-op. Very fun game.

GAME 31: Stealth Inc: A Clone in the Dark - 8 Hours (COMPLETE) - April 23rd
# So I've been pushing my way through this puzzle game. Lots of elements introduced throughout its not too long time frame. It never got boring or stale, which is what you want from a game like this. The ending actually got me, though. I expected something like that, but it was a bit more than I had expected and caught me off guard.

GAME 32: Ratchet: Deadlocked - 9 Hours (COMPLETE) - May 3rd
# Continuing my replaying of this series.
# This one was always a mixed bag. It did feel like it make a some notable improvements to the combat. Largely in UI and control tightness, but the platforming was dramatically downgraded on the times it becomes a focus. I did appreciate how tight the controls were on vehicles, though. I can't recall being that happy over that in one of the Ratchet games yet. Its an okay entry, but its not doing what makes the series great. Next time I come back to the series, I'll be playing Into the Nexus.

Game --: Valhalla Knights - 7 Hours (Dropped)
# I've had this game for forever on my PS Vita and have not touched it. I started it up and am enjoying it many times more than I thought I would so far. No expectations for the win.
# I did enjoy what time I had with it, but I hit a wall I realize I do not have the motivation to climb past.

GAME 33: Tales of Symphonia - 48 Hours (COMPLETE) - May 14th
# Got the collection on PS3. Playing first game for first time.
# I really liked it. It had its share of flaws (the dungeons being boring a big one and the story having some moments where I questioned its quality a bit), but overall the story and gameplay had me in until the end. Being my first Tales game, I will certainly try some more in the future. Xillia 2 (watched Xillia LP) for PS3 or Hearts for the Vita would probably find itself as the next one when I decide to return to the series.

GAME 34: Game Dev Tycoon - 8 Hours (COMPLETE) - May 18th
# A simulation game I've enjoyed in the past. What I haven't done, is finish it without going bankrupt. When i went bankrupt the first time I played it, I had not learned the game rules for scores and making money properly enough to not go down in fires really quickly after having a lot of success. What is interesting, is that there is an end. 30 years into the sim, and you find yourself at the end of the history of game releases the sim has set out for you. This is where I am going to count it as completed, since the time to get here is comparable to the lengths of many other games.
# So Lion & Fox Studios made it to the end of the game. I went at a slower pace than I did in previous games, leading to me moving forward only when I was ready. There was only a few times I didn't make a profit on my games and I finished with a score of about 48 million. Its a fun simulation game that's not too expensive. For those people out there who like simulation games, I highly suggest trying it out.

GAME 35: Star Wars: The Old Republic - 90 Hours *maybe* (COMPLETE) - August 2nd
# So I'm going to play through this MMO for one class's story. Bounty Hunter, specifically. I haven't played the BH class before and I have not played the game for like a year, so it should be fun.
# I lost track of the time on this game, lol. The number is a ballpark if there ever was one.
# AND DONE. Wow that took a long time. That 90 hours is a big ballpark estimate. I enjoyed it. I worked around the F2P pretty well and got to level 50 to end the class story. The story was decent. Some options I wanted at the end that they didn't give me. Its not the best SWTOR story I've played (this is my fourth after IA, JK, and SW). If I do another, it'll be smuggler next.

GAME 36: Bioshock Infinite - 13 Hours (COMPLETE) - May 21st
# Got the game via PS+ a while ago. Wanted to wait for the right time and mood of mine to sit down and play it, and I think its about right now.
# That was... Interesting. The game was fun, though I found myself rarely experimenting with vigors like the game probably wanting me to. Gamewise, I liked it but didn't love it. Still don't care for FPSs a lot and Bioshock does a good job of making them tolerable at least. Now some vague story comments so sort of spoilers ahead. I saw probably half the twists they throw at the end coming. The other half didn't really occur to me, though. I was a fan of it, but I wasn't a fan of the method they chose for the characters to learn the information through. Seemed a bit... Too out of left field. I will say, I prefer the original. Honestly, how much I enjoyed the gameplay was probably similar (its been a long time), though the twist of the original just left a huge impression on me, where this game did not manage that.

Game 37: Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked - 9 Hours (Incomplete)
# Was on sale, plus I still had like $3 and something on my e-shop account I didn't want to go to waste. Might as well try a SMT game besides Persona, right?

GAME 38: Limbo - 3 Hours (COMPLETE) - May 22nd
# A short, slightly disturbing game. I'm sure many of you have heard of the game before. Its why I got it in a Steam sale a while back. So, I finally got around to playing it and I finished before I even put it on here. All in all, it was okay. It had a great vibe and tone going for it. It also had solid puzzle platforming. Unfortunately, the tone didn't resonate with me all that much and the gameplay didn't make me want to solve the puzzles very much. It is still good and I'd suggest it, it just feels like the sort of game I'd need to be the in the right mood for the enjoy to the fullest.

GAME 39: Vanquish - 5 Hours (COMPLETE) - September 25th
# Still have this from PS+. Doesn't look long and I have heard positive things about it.
# Story was complete shit. Gameplay is fun enough, but it took me a long time to get through 5 hours since I started it. Wasn't all that appealing.

Game --: Mind Zero - 30 Hours (Dropped)
# Well, I got this game after a lot of deliberations (because of some negative reviews from its Japanese release). I got it, like it so far in these first hours, and will beat it.
# I did want to finish this game. Unfortunately, I ran into a status effect (a stupid one, I might add) that paralyzes your party. Being overleveled in a dungeon, I was grinding away for quite some time and levels until i ran across some enemies that inflicted it. I noticed I was getting the status effect too late, and I lost quite a few hours. Game isn't bad, its just not worth redoing those hours of tedium.

GAME 40: Long Live the Queen - 3 Hours (COMPLETE) - June 29th
# Best way to describe this game... A rogue like visual novel. Its weird, but strangely good. Though, if you're VN type games for the story like me, many playthroughs to just advance some more may be annoying. I ended up using a basic guide to get me through on my fifth playthrough, but I think I'll go back and figure out a strategy to make it all the way through myself later on.

GAME 41: Flower - 1.5 Hours (COMPLETE) - July 2nd
# Beautiful game I never had the chance to pick up before. Got it on sale for the PS4, and the mix of cell-shading with realistic graphics just looks beautiful to me. There isn't a whole lot to it, so the price I got it at feels about right. Its certainly no Journey.

GAME 42: Alter Ego: Life Simulation - 3 Hours (COMPLETE) - July 24th
# A web browser, text based game.
# Browser version kept dying because the LPer I saw it on brought a ton more people also interested in it. Bought the iOS version.
# I played through twice. its very interesting. It doesn't delve in a huge variety of options. Its not like you can become something specific or notable. No president, no evil supervillain, no nothing. It very much a life simulator. Every phase as events that can effect your life, and stuff like your job and family are side events that you can choose to partake in. They don't drive progression enough to make the system really flexible. Overall, it is enjoyable for what it is and I don't regret playing it (not sure it was totally worth $5, but it does have a bit of replay value to it).

Game 1: The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds - 21:29 completed 1-14-2014
5/5 Loved it. It wasn't short, but it somehow felt short. I loved the faster pace. Economy system was pretty cool and much improved over previous Zelda's, but I didn't die enough for renting to matter, and I bought everything in the store too fast, and rupees became useless again. I'd like to see them do more with economy somehow, but I'd also like to see dungeons containing items again.

Game 2: The Stanley Parable - 0:47 completed 1-25-2014
4/5 This was a really cool experience, but I may have had it overhyped a bit too much. I played through it a few times with differing results, and I really like how seamlessly it changes things around on you, and how the narrator handles the whole thing, but I didn't feel as awe-inspired as some seem to have been.

Game 3: Star Fox 64 - 2:00 completed 2-11-2014
4/5 Wanted to play SF64, but haven't picked up the 3DS version yet. It holds up surprisingly well, but at the same time it's really showing it's age (graphics aside). Still fun though.

Game 4: Max Payne (Mobile) - ??:?? completed 2-23-2014
2/5 This was my first time completing Max Payne. It was an interesting ride, but ultimately I found it pretty boring.

Game 5: Demon's Crest - ??:?? completed 3-3-2014
3/5 First time for this one, but I enjoyed the GB game quite a bit and I thought I'd give it a go. The controls are rigid, but somehow not in a bad way. Visuals have held up well. Hard but fun, and unlimited continues are a plus.

Game 6: Bastion - 11:00 completed 3-4-2014
5/5 This game is beautiful, cool, and super fun. All of the weapons feel unique and useful, instead of just being upgrades. Probably a better game at $15 than many $60 releases.

Game 7: Super Castlevania IV - 10:00 completed 3-6-2014
4/5 Another beautiful SNES game, but I found the stiff controls to be very off putting, like pretty much all of the old Castlevanias. Hard in less of a fun way, but still a fun ride.

Game 8: Costume Quest - 7:00 completed 3-7-2014
3/5 Costume Quest was a really cute and charming game that got really repetitive before it was all over. I liked how the combat system, but it was ultimately way too shallow for my tastes. Combat that never reaches its full potential and a repetitive structure lose this one points.

Game 9: Limbo - 2:30 completed 3/20/2014
3/5 The art was pretty cool, the trial-and-error gameplay of some of the puzzles were not. The message, which is the only other thing going on, is ambiguous. I have a theory, but I personally prefer a more deliberate resolution.

Game 10: Saints Row: The Third - 12:42 completed 3/25/2014
4/5 I loved it, but I didn't like the mission-on-a-phone structure of the whole thing, or how the side activities are now full missions. At first I was also put off by how you could access so much early on, but then I stopped taking it so serious and just had fun. Awesome game.

Game 11: Tomb Raider 2013 - 16:00 completed 3/30/2014
3/5 This game was pretty good, but there's too much stuff that's pointless. Like the entire upgrade system outside of a few things. Having a weak upgrade system hurts the exploration element (which is already super limited). I dislike the overly linear/"corridor-esque" structure of the game. Combat was fun, but cover shooters have never been my thing.

Game 12: Star Fox 64 3D - 3:29 completed 4/18/2014
4/5 Amazing update. I would rate this perfect if only there was more to the game. As it stands, when its over its over outside of beating all 3 paths. Either way, graphics and controls are much better this time around. I played the Hard and Medium paths, because I played easy on the 64 version above.

Game 13: Super Little Acorns 3D Turbo - 10:01 completed 5/1/2014
3/5 I like platformers, but I'm not a very big fan of puzzle-room platformers. SLA3DT doesn't really have puzzles, but it's the same concept. Despite this, I found the game to be pretty enjoyable, probably because of the swinging mechanic (which is fun, but the floatiness hurts it). I disliked the "beat the level 4 ways"

Game 14: Orcs Must Die! - 10:00 completed 5-11-2014
4/5 I'm over TD games, but this one really did it for me. It's probably because of the controllable character and the fact that you have to support your traps or they won't get the job done. Either way, I was really surprised by this game.

Game 15: The Adventures of Lolo - 6:00 completed 5-18-2014
5/5 I've loved Lolo since I was a kid. The gameplay is simple but effective, with just enough dressing to make everything look nice. The music, although a constant loop throughout the entire game, never gets old to me. It can be difficult, but I never "lucked out" and just stumbled across the answer. An amazing puzzle game.

Game 16: Sorcery - 3:30 completed 5-22-2014
4/5 I was a pretty big fan of Choose Your Own Adventure books back in the day, with the Lone Wolf series being my favorite. This game gives all sorts of those familiar vibes. The game plays like one of those books, but it also has a map which you move a token around. The map is beautifully drawn, and has some 3D effects on it where they make sense (mountains and hills, mostly). I really liked this game a lot, and will definitely pick up the other episodes when they come out.

Game 17: Rogue Legacy - 24:29 completed 5-22-2014
4/5 This is a great game, first and foremost. I love the art. I love being able to play just a game or two and then walk away from it. The difficulty curve was done very well, although I feel like the first two areas are disproportionately easier than the second two areas. The dungeon in particular was so difficult I skipped as many enemies as possible. I feel the game would benefit from a little more structure, such as additional bosses that grant permanent abilities or items which allow tackling other parts of the castle. There were just too many runs where I felt like all I was doing was farming, because I knew I couldn't take the boss yet. Still, an awesome

Game 18: Orc's Must Die! 2 - 9:00 completed 5-28-2014
3/5 Not as good as the first. The more open economy and more numerous weapons/traps open up a lot of new possibilities, but I feel the game gives you too much, too fast. There's a lot of side stuff to do, which probably makes the economy and difficulty much more manageable. For a strait playthrough, the game gets pretty difficult and I frequently felt like I needed more skulls (upgrade tokens) than I was getting. Enjoyable, but less so than OMD 1.

Game 19: Hoplite - 10:00 completed 5-30-2014
4/5 Great strategy/puzzle game. Less combat focus than I would have thought, but that's not always a bad thing. I just wish there was more to the game than the one quest. Going for achievements is cool because it adds to the game, but more missions would have been better.

Update: I've been playing this game at work every day for months, trying to get all of the achievements. While it originally only took about an hour to finish the game, I have since put in many more hours.

Game 20: The Typing of the Dead: Overkill - 3:00 completed 6-1-2014
3/5 I've always enjoyed typing games, even those crappy ones they made us play in typing class back in the day. This game was really fun, although pretty obviously low budget. It was funny at times, but more often than not it was just loud and vulgar. It's pretty short, but considering it can be had for a few bucks, it's still a great value.

Game 21: Batman: Arkham City - 17:00 completed 6-5-2014
5/5 Loved this. Should have played it sooner. Almost everything about it just worked for me better than it did in AA (which I also loved), although the story was a little questionable at times. Combat also clicked for me better, which was something I could never quite get in AA (maybe it's just me though). Amazing game, can't wait to play AO.

Game 22: New Super Mario Bros. 2 - 9:48 completed 6-11-2014
3/5 I spent most of the game disagreeing with all the hate this game gets, but by the end I was starting to understand. This game just feels so derivative and uninspired. Still, it was decently fun, even if the bosses were just horrible. The money mechanic was ok, but I didn't really get into it. Second only to NSMB DS was the worst NSMB game.

Game 23: Tearaway - ??:?? completed 6-12-2014
3/5 This game was super cute and I loved the style, but I wasn't as hot on it as a lot of other people were. I thought it was going to be something along the lines of Mario 64. Instead, it was very linear. It was a very enjoyable game to play through, but I didn't really enjoy the world as much as I could have. All of the customization stuff was very cool, and added so much to the game. Some of the front touch stuff worked better than others. Subtle use of the back/front camera made for some of my favorite moments in the game. However, I found the core gameplay mechanics to be pretty boring. Most of the game just felt like a guided tour of their cute world, and I never felt like I was exploring a real place.

Game 24: Ikachan - 1:27 completed 6-12-2014
1/5 I picked this up on sale for $2.50, and I'm glad that's all I paid for it. I've seen a lot of praise for this game, but it felt like it was only the first level of a bigger game. I found movement to be tedious. A good chunk of time was just spent wandering around the few small areas, talking to each NPC and trying to find the right trigger. I was still waiting for the game to become fun and interesting when it ended. The only positive thing I can say about it is that I like (some of) the art.

Game 25: Spelunky - ??:?? completed 6-16-2014
5/5 One of my favorite games in forever. The beginning especially was awesome, when you're still trying to figure out all of the secret elements to the game. A surprising amount of depth in what is a very pure game. Also, looks beautiful on the Vita OLED screen.

Game 26: Pikmin 3 - 15:00 completed 7-10-2014
5/5 I absolutely loved this game. Nintendo made me a believer in pointer controls, and I absolutely think it's the best way to play this game. So much fun, and I loved exploring the environments. Just wish it was longer.

Game 27: Rymdkapsel - 3:00 completed 8-5-2014
3/5 If this counts as an RTS, than it's one of the only ones I've ever enjoyed. This game is so good for the first half, and then pretty shit for the last 10 minutes. Even still, the first half of each session is really enjoyable. I wish there was more to the game than just the one mission; this is the kind of game I could see myself playing for dozens of hours if there was just more to it.

Game 28: Duet - ??:?? completed 8-10-2014
5/5 Duet is one of my favorite games I've played in a long time. It seems simple at first--you just touch the left or right side of the screen to make the two colored spheres rotate left or right and dodge blocks that come down the screen. Eventually, you're dodging blocks that change speed, move left and right, spin, and even turn invisible. It's hard as nails but fun as hell, and is one of those games that just works flawlessly and makes perfect sense on a touch screen.

Game 29: Organ Trail - ??:?? completed 8-13-2014
3/5 I was initially very excited to play this, as I loved Oregon Trail and Yukon Trail. Ultimately, I found this game super boring. The aesthetic was very well done, and I dug how the art style was a reflection of the art of the original Oregon Trail (as opposed to the abomination new Oregon Trail art style that's on the App/Play Store). The mini games controlled pretty badly, on purpose in my opinion (you get used to it, but it's never an ideal solution, and I lost minigames numerous times because I was trying to move but accidentally aimed, or was trying to aim and accidentally moved). Ultimately, you spend a lot of time sitting around and waiting, and there really are no hard decisions to make in this game once you learn all of the mechanics (such as trading and scavenging). The final minigame to beat the game was pretty tedious.

This game was a fun novelty, but as a 5+ hour experience it wasn't that great. I guess I just expect more out of my games nowadays than I did 20 years ago.

Game 30: Little Sampson - 3:00 completed 8-15-2014
4/5 Great game. Ahead of its time in the way it makes you play a level as each character before giving you the ability to switch between them. Great physics (rare for an NES game), great controls, great graphics. This game has it all. But its hard as hell. If it wasn't for save state I never would have finished it.

Game 31: The Room - ??:?? completed 8-17-2014
3/5 This game was a lot more fun than I expected it to be. Most escape games I've played have been pretty nonsensical. The Room gets there by the end, and I found the epilogue puzzle to be one of the weakest. Some of the puzzles were a little tedious, the controls sometimes were annoying. Overall, it was an enjoyable game with a decent story.

Game 32: Apollo Justice Ace Attorney - 41:27 completed 8-27-2014
4/5 I started this one way back when, but I was burnt out on AA games and stopped in the middle. I'm glad I picked up another copy to play, this game was a blast. I got stuck a few times, but overall I had fewer issues than with previous games. As always, the story was a over the top and a little unbelievable at times, but I still really liked it.

Game 33: Pixel Dungeon - ??:?? completed 9-07-2014
5/5 I have no idea how much time I've spent on this one, somewhere between 10 and 30 hours. Pixel Dungeon is one of my favorite roguelikes I've ever played. It's incredibly difficult, and most runs end by floor 5 (especially once you move away from the easiest class). This makes the game pretty frustrating, except that you know if you can beat the boss on floor 5 you'll probably be ok for awhile. Great enemy variety (look and attacks).

Game 34: Plague Inc - ??:?? completed 9-11-2014
2/5 I've played Pandemic before, but thought it was pretty boring. I picked this up on a whim because I wanted something to play while I was watching tv. I beat the game with the first 5 or 6 disease types, but it was pretty boring. You mostly just watch the screen, and you want to look away but you can't because you have to tap every so often. Pretty boring game IMO with almost no interaction.

Game 35: Night Sky - 9:15 completed 9-13-2014
4/5 I hated this game at first, but it grew on me. Offers amazing variety, considering how simple it looks. Challenging in all the right ways, and is generally pretty smart about not giving you too much to do in any single level.

Game 36: Number Battle - 12:00 completed 9-13-2014
4/5 Great game. I only played the campaign, because the MP server shutdown happened around the time of my purchase. The campaign was pretty bare bones, but still provided a decent variety. Presentation was pretty lack luster but the game was a ton of fun and one of the best strategy games I've played in a long time.

Game 37: PiCTOBiTS - 1:36 completed 9-17-2014
2/5 Cute concept but it needed a grid or something; the whole thing just feels too loose for its own good. Starts too easy, ends entirely too hard.

Game 38: Aura-Aura Climber - 1:13 completed 9-17-2014
3/5 Boring start, but gets good a few levels in. By the end, it's difficulty is pretty spot on, although a game about getting fast times should never force you to wait on hazards.

Game 39: Kirby Super Star - ??:?? completed 9-19-2014
5/5 Super Star is the reason why I like Kirby today, and why I am consistently disappointed by each new release. In Super Star, each power brings with it more moves than in any other game and there are more powers than in other games. In addition to the huge amount of options available, there is the fact that Super Star is comprised of 5 campaigns, each of which brings its own twist to the formula. This is the first time I've played Super Star in probably 15 years, and to make it even better I played through with my wife (her first time). It was a great experience after all these years and she had a blast. I would strongly recommend this game for any fan of Kirby, SNES, or 2D platformers in general.

Game 40: Fire Emblem: Awakening - 35:00-85:52 completed 9-20-2014
5/5 My favorite Fire Emblem. I still miss the GBA sprites, but the battle models were pretty great. So many new mechanics and features. Looking forward to a replay to try new teams.

Game 41: Mighty Gunvolt - 1:13 completed 9-25-2014
4/5 Hard to complain about a freebee game. It was short but sweet. I played through 3 times, once with each character. The characters weren't different enough to really justify this, but I still had fun.

Game 42: Azure Striker Gunvolt - 7:03 completed 10-02-2014
3/5 I started out hating this game. The graphics are a little too busy, especially when using the electric field thing that serves as your primary attack. I skipped all of the challenge/crafting stuff until the end of the game when I got stuck. It's a decent system that gives you a reason to replay levels while leveling up, and it probably doubled my playtime. At the end of the day, this is a pretty fun game that isn't quite as similar to Mega Man as I originally thought, which was part of the reason why I started out hating it.

Game 43: Castlevania Symphony of the Night - 7:01 completed 10-06-2014
4/5 I love this game. I got stuck a few times, and I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing. I hated Metroid Fusion and Shadow Complex because they were always telling you where to go next, but being stuck sucks. I still had a great time replaying this, though, and I love how the game is full of optional content that you can skip if you're impatient or miss if you aren't careful.

Game 44: Infamous: Second Son - ??:?? completed 10-08-2014
5/5 Holy hell, what a great game. This was my first Infamous. I don't really like triple-A games anymore, and I've kinda gotten over open-world games. Yet Second Son managed to deliver an open-world game that was still fun and engaging. By the end, I was a little fatigued on trying to collect everything, so I just stopped. And that was ok. I enjoyed the story quite a lot, and I even grew to like both of the brothers by the end. The excellent facial animation/digital acting/VO was a huge part of this. I played the hero, through and through. Eager to revisit for an evil playthrough.

Game 45: The Last of Us Remastered - ??:?? completed 10-13-2014
5/5 I fully understand the hype now. Having not played a Naughty Dog game since the PS1 days, I didn't know what to expect. I was blown away by the graphics and story, while finding the gameplay pretty great for the most part. The
sniper battle
and the sequence
at the end of game in the hospital
were pretty terrible. There's a few other parts that were a little rough, but the stand out only because the rest of the game was so terrific and beautiful.

Game 46: The Starship Damrey - 2:43 completed 10-15-2014
2/5 When this game came out I remember hearing some hype about how it was a really cool experience that you needed to go into blind. I was pretty let down, because there is nothing cool or experimental or revolutionary about it. The beginning, where you must type on a keyboard to reboot an OS, is kind of cool and it felt like it was teaching you how to do something later, but that something never comes. You spend your time piloting a robot while exploring a spaceship, essentially completing simple fetch quests more than actually solving puzzles. The story is minimal and decent, but it should have all been so much more. The controls suck, there is no strafe button.. this game is just a bit of a mess all around.

Game 47: Nidhogg - 1:00 completed 10-17-2014
3/5 Nidhogg is super fun to play, and I love the art style, but there is almost no game there. I guess this is a multiplayer-focused game, but I have no interest in that sort of thing. If this game had a real campaign, it would be super fun. As it stands, I'd have a hard time recommending Nidhogg to anyone who didn't plan on spending a lot time online with it.

Game 48: Super Metroid - 4:02 completed 11-9-2014
5/5 Such an amazing game. My first time playing it in roughly 15 years, and yet every room was still fresh in my mind, although, as evident by my clear time, I was more fuzzy on the map layout. The music is so atmospheric and beautiful and awesome at the same time. The graphics are still beautiful after all these years. A true masterpiece.

Game 49: Escape Plan - ??:?? completed 11-15-2014
2/5 As I previously mentioned in regards to Night Sky, this type of puzzle game really isn't my deal. I found Escape Plan very tedious, what with the way it controls.

Game 50: Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare (campaign) - ??:?? completed 11-15-2014
4/5 This was one of the better Call of Duty campaigns I have played. The story wasn't half bad, especially for a Call of Duty. The levels were pretty varied, and they did a good job of making most levels feel like unique experiences. It also felt a little less like a shooting gallery than previous campaigns that I've played, but that might just be because I played on normal instead of hardened.

Game 51: SteamWorld Dig - 7:04 completed 11-23-2014
4/5 Fun game for what it was, but I wish it evolved more over the course of the game. You find some useful abilities while underground, but the gameplay never changes much. Topside, the upgrades are all standard +% bonuses, not much to get excited about. A sequel with more mechanics, more variation, and less "dig your way through this mass of shit" would be great.

Game 52: Titan Attacks - ??:?? completed 12-13-2014
3/5 High score attacks are not my thing. This game is essentially a reimagining of Space Invaders, which is a pretty terrible starting point. A few elements, such as the upgrade system and the risk/reward of capturing aliens, go a long way to making it a better game. This game technically has no end, but it resets after wave 100 so I'm considering this one beat.
