GAME 1
Battlefield 4 / PlayStation 4 /
Campaign
- Hard
- 1st Playthrough
- 5 Hours

It's one of the worst campaigns I've ever played in a first person shooter, it felt like a chore to play at times. I suppose it was at the very least, nice to look at.

GAME 2
Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition / PlayStation 4 /
Single Player
- Normal
- 1st Playthrough
- 12 Hours
- 100% Completion

I had already played through Tomb Raider when it first came out. I enjoyed it at the time but didn't love it, I just couldn't get enough of it this time around. Played it solidly for the past two days and just loved it.

GAME 3
Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag / PlayStation 4 /
Single Player
- 1st Playthrough
- 45 Hours
- 70% Completion

Probably the most out and out 'fun' title out of the big releases last year that I've played, along with Grand Theft Auto V of course, absolutely loved it from start to finish and I'll easily put in another 20 or 30 hours finishing all the side missions up, getting all the collectibles etc. My new favourite in the series and a huge redemption for the series after Assassin's Creed III.

GAME 4
God of War: Ghost of Sparta / PlayStation 3 /
Single Player
- 1st Playthrough
- 7 Hours

I felt a little tired of the series after God of War III, even though I loved every minute of that game and of the entire series, I just needed a long break from it. Ended up playing through Ghost of Sparta last night/tonight, and it was damn fun, it's got me craving more God of War now. The scope of the game too for something that was a PSP title originally is incredible.

GAME 5
God of War: Ascension / PlayStation 3 /
Single Player
- 1st Playthrough
- 7 Hours 13 minutes 46 seconds

I bought this about a year ago on launch day, never played it, and sold it on. After Ghost of Sparta though I have a taste for the series again and picked this up on the cheap. This was interesting, probably the weakest in the franchise overall but still some very strong segments throughout, some incredible set pieces.and the odd part now and again that made me question how they pulled a lot of it off on the PS3. I found the combat to be a bit annoying at times, I just thought it wasn't as well balanced as the rest of the series and the overall pace of the game wasn't great but it was a decent entry in to the franchise overall.

GAME 6
Zone of the Enders HD / PlayStation 3 /
Single Player
- 2 Hours 31 minutes 27 seconds

In preparation for ZOE 3. It's going to happen... isn't it?! I'd forgotten just how short it was. Moving on to The 2nd Runner now, never played it when it first came out.

GAME 7
Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner HD / PlayStation 3 /
Single Player
- 1st Playthrough
- 4 Hours 19 minutes

I never played this back when it originally came out, it was decent, very tedious at times, and insanely short just like the original. Nice visuals though.

GAME 8
Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater / PlayStation 3 /

- 16 Hours 59 minutes
- 100% Trophies/Platinum

Kojima's masterpiece, and the pinnacle of the Metal Gear Solid series.

GAME 9
God of War HD / PlayStation 3 /

- 6 Hours 20 minutes
- 80% Trophies

Just revisiting the God of War series, hadn't played this since year of release, still holds up well but some really frustrating parts (
spiked columns in hades
), although that could be attributed to me being impatient at times too.

If I can actually do this, my backlog might actually be manageable by the end of the year. :O

Game 1 (Jan. 1, 2014): Metal Gear Solid 2 (360, MGS HD Collection) - 13 hours
I think I hate cutscenes now. Had previously played MGS1 on GameCube, and my opinion there was that I liked more game in my games. This is way worse for unplayable cutscenes. Looked it up, and someone said there was 5 hours of cutscenes in the game, but I don't trust that, as it said the longest cutscene was only 30 minutes, but I had to watch stuff I couldn't control for an hour near the end of the game. Guess it wasn't counting Codex conversations that you had to sit through, too. With a story that freakin twisted around on itself, a lot of explanation is necessary, but let me pause it so I can go get a bite to eat while finishing watching it, at least! On the good side, figured out where some username/tags came from now, and did enjoy the game. Just really hated the inability to pause during cutscenes. :)
Started last year, but finished after midnight, so I'm counting it. :p

Game 2 (Jan. 2, 2014): Metal Gear (360, inside MGS3 inside MGS HD Collection) - 3.5 hours gametime, more like 4.5 hours real-time with replayed parts due to deaths
First time ever playing the original Metal Gear, and it's amazing how many elements in the series originated here. Round ration containers, RC missiles, electric floors requiring RC missiles to destroy the control box, cigarettes, twisted story line
including betrayal by someone you trusted on Codex earlier on in the game
. No stupidly long cutscenes, though, so that makes it even more of a plus. Not long, and really worth playing for MGS fans, I think.
Was surprised to see this game (and Metal Gear 2) when booting up MGS3 inside MGS HD Collection, but will take another couple of "short" games to add onto this 52 game goal for the year. There will be long enough ones later, to be sure. :)

Game 3 (Jan. 3, 2014): Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake (360, inside MGS3 inside MGS HD Collection) - 4:37
First time ever playing Metal Gear 2, too. Not as many MGS staples in this game I think. Also, shockingly,
there weren't any shocking betrayals/reveals/stupidly convoluted storylines in this game. What happened Kojima! Was this one the aberration or something?
Tons and tons and tons of backtracking, but not terribly annoying once you've done it several times. This is definitely a more fleshed out game than the original Metal Gear, I think, but it seems more of the original Metal Gear flowed in the MGS series. With this explaining the back story of Solid Snakes rise and
Big Boss's turn to the dark side and eventual death
, can see why this and Metal Gear were included with MGS3, which is a prequel to the series.
3 games in 3 days. Figured MGS3 and others will take a lot longer, so this gives some breathing room to keep on pace for the year. :)

Game 4 (Jan. 4, 2014): Home (PC) - 1:21
I think I didn't play as the game the creator intended, but I'll be danged if I'm going to call myself
a murderer
just to forward the story of the game. If you're going to expect me to believe I'm
a murderer
, you better dang well show me straight out and not wait for me to "accept" it and say that's what I found
in that dirty pile of rags
. Hmph. Interesting concept of a game. Basically one of those fireside horror stories with the build up, but with choose-your-own-adventure thrown into the mix. Not planning on playing through it again, though. It had its chance to do something meaningful, and instead it threw it over the fence to me to make the grand meaningful conclusion. No, thank you.

Game 5 (Jan. 6, 2014): Kirby's Dream Land (GB, inside of Kirby's 20th Anniversary Collection) - ~2 hours
This was a fun little game. Was so fun the first time that I played through it twice.
Gave up after one level on Extra Mode. Wanted a fun little game, not a difficult one. Played through the whole thing on regular again, instead.
Could almost see me buying this again on 3DS VC
(save states may make the Extra Mode a little less drudgery)
. Have only played Kirby's Adventure before and a few levels in the Ambassador Kirby GBA game previously. Really like the easter egg of pausing Kirby, and then he starts dancing after a few seconds sort of saying that he wants you to hurry up and start playing again. :p
Will be playing a few of the other Kirbys this year, so this makes a good start. A really good part of this 52-game planning is that it's letting me tackle series that I haven't done much with, but have games in just sitting in my backlog. Have also been playing games way, way more than usual this year as part of the goal. Feels good. :)

Game 6 (Jan. 7, 2014): Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater (360, inside MGS HD Collection) - 11:42
Oh my goodness, I love this game. Not going to replay it, but it was a great experience. Was a little dreading it after reading there were more cutscenes in MGS3 than in MGS2, and I grew to dislike the ones in MGS2. The cutscenes here just seemed so much more meaningful. less intrusive, and generally better. I also now finally understand that picture of Snake standing and saluting outside
in front of The Boss's grave
. Wow, that picture takes on a whole new meaning now. For the record, played on Very Easy and spammed the EZ Gun to almost no end. Just wanted to get through the game and experience it, not spend hours mastering it to get past difficult parts. I've done that for games in the past, so I understand that it can give a whole deeper meaning to the game to spend that much time mastering it. That was just not how I wanted to play this game, though. Really glad they put the EZ Gun in the game. It's like it was just for me...
Just took a look at the scores, and MGS2 is 5% higher at Gamerankings.com than MGS3. Opinions, eh. :p Got Peace Walker left to play this year as part of the 52-game (or more) plan. It's been fun to play all these Metal Gears, so far. :)

Game 7 (Jan. 8, 2014): Super Mario World (SNES) - 7 hours?
Replayed it for someone to watch. Got all 96 exits as planned. :)
Now with Super NES out of the way (have a game I haven't beaten on it, but not planning on playing it this year, either), time to hook up the NES!
Yes, I have some NES games that I haven't beaten, yet. Backlogs are not a modern invention. :lol

Game 8 (Jan. 9, 2014): Bastion (360) - 10-12 hours?
Played it off and on some last year before buckling down to finish it over the last few days, so not sure how long it was in total. DLC ramblings:
I realize the DLC was free on PC, but requiring you to play through another 3-4 hours of a New Game Plus to access the DLC is freaking annoying, especially when you had to pay a $1 for it on 360. Microsoft restrictions, I guess. Also, don't think they said the DLC was a CHALLENGE DLC. That sucks. Was hoping to just plow through however many stages and enjoy the talking, but NOPE. Ughh. Not playing through the whole game another 1.5 times on No Sweat just for that, either. >:-(
DLC aside, the game was a nice, straightforward single-player brawler with minor exploration and majorly enjoyable storytelling. If you watch some vids and think you'll like the Narrator, buy the game (on PC, free DLC wins). I chose
Love over Restoration (Reminded me of Neo's choice in The Matrix. Everybody or the girl.)
for the end. Nice little story and music was really great, too. :)
Having lots of games in-progress on different systems at the same time is paying off for this. :lol

Game 9 (Jan. 11, 2014): Maniac Mansion (NES) - 5-6 hours?
Very slow starting. The fact that there's multiple characters and so much "nope nothing down this way" false lines probably wouldn't be so accepted nowadays. Spent a couple of hours trying out each path trying to find a way forward before finally getting more heavy into looking up a guide. Having done so, dang, some of those chains of action are obscure! How'd anyone ever figure this stuff out without a guide back in the day!?! :lol Had read about the game in Nintendo Power off and on at the time, so knew there was some strange chains of events to get stuff going. Even though I had to resort to a guide for a good part of the final run, I'm glad I spent a couple of hours aimlessly trying out things, though. Seeing where the solutions lie after wandering aimlessly through the rooms so much really makes you appreciate the care and deep thought that went into the planning of this game. I'm very glad I've now played it. If anyone else is thinking of playing it, would highly recommend finding a free download of the PC version. Game is all mouse controlled, and using a mouse on NES (even with the NES Max) is not anywhere near as nice as on PC. Well worth playing, in my opinion, though. :)
Have had this game for a long time (obviously) but finally getting down to really playing these older backlogged games, too. Have I mentioned I love this completing-52-games-in-a-year concept? :lol

Game 10 (Jan. 17, 2014): Kirby's Dream Land 2 (GB, inside of Kirby's 20th Anniversary Collection) - ~7 hours
Man, these two GB Kirby games so far are something else. I spend 85-90% of the game going "Hey, this is fun! I may just want to download this on 3DS VC even though I already have it on Wii just to have some fun with anytime!" And then I hit the final level/boss/finishing up the game to get to 100%, and I want to tear the enemies limbs off and not play Kirby again for weeks. All this from a Pink Puff (who's white in these games *that's racist!*). How can anyone design games that go from such relaxing platforming minor strategy play to wanna-scream levels of requirements in such a short time? I know I liked the game. I also know I liked it so much that it may be worth downloading on 3DS VC to have save states added to avoid that screaming frustration. I just don't feel like it now. >:-| Like the animal buddies. Owl + lightning = Kirby raining death down from the sky above. How this apparently wasn't carried forward into all future Kirby games I do not know.

Game 11 (Jan. 18, 2014): Star Tropics (NES) - ~7 hours
Masochist game. For a game never released in Japan, it sure had that "so hard, it'll kill you 50 times just to finish level 3" spin on it. This was actually played on my real NES. I just so happened to also still have my actual Game Genie, though, so endless frustration avoided! DO NOT know how kids beat this game on the NES without a Game Genie at the time. Having finished the game and seen the absolute chaos it throws at you (no armor to reduce damage, extremely rare life-filling potions, start over with three hearts after dying and enemies take 1-2 of those per hit :O ), I just do not know how.
Masochism aside, the story was neat. Someone really loved their trip to Fiji and/or wanted to write it off as a business expense! "Under the Southern Cross, tax exemptions arrive by the boatload!" Simple but fun exploration. Dragon Warrior influence in the overworld (those mountains have to be carbon-copies, right?), and the music reminded me of Crystalis
(Crystalis is way better, though!)
.
Alien twist
would've been a real surprise if I hadn't read about this game for years in Nintendo Power first. Speaking of, used my Nintendo Powers to get through the levels. Oh, that was fun! Gonna do the same with Star Tropics II next on NES. (Gonna start off straight up, but if it's another masochist game, it's back to using Game Genie...)
Thought about playing Dragon Warrior again this year, too, after being reminded of it here, but then I remembered all the monotonous grinding to be strong enough to get to new areas, and decided against it. Will be playing Crystalis again this year now, though. Love that game so much! It has grinding, too (at least when I play it), but it moves so smooth like butter and goes so fast that grinding becomes like running a race with the enemies getting their 1000 throats cut in a single night. :lol

Game 12 (Jan. 19, 2014): Mega Man: Dr. Wily's Revenge (GB, 3DS VC) - 3 hours
I don't know how people beat these games on their original systems when they came out. Save states is a must for the Mega Man series. Finished Mega Man 1 and 2 late last year on 3DS VC, too, and since the GB one uses a combination of those two boss sets, figured it was a good shot for next. Now, the games are fun in parts. Platforming is good. Shooting is good. But the total lack of easily regeneratable health, extreme trial-and-error level design, and cheap health taking tactics would've made this a super-frustrating series to play through before.
Will probably stop after MM4, but it's good to have played these, since I had only ever played MM3 on rental on the NES originally.

Game 13 (Jan. 23, 2014): Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker HD - ~20 hours
Better understood as MGS3-2. :) As someone who loved the story in MGS 3, this was a great game to more thoroughly flesh out The Boss and The Big Boss's paths. With MGS 3, 3-2, Metal Gear, and Metal Gear 2, you now have the complete story of The Boss and The Big Boss, and it's a great story to be had. Complicated, but not ridiculously convoluted on the scale of MGS 1 and MGS 2. MGS 3 is a better game, but this makes a great companion piece to it. The sub-game of MSF missions with Outer Ops was fun, too.
Think I'm going to not worry about other MGS games, as MGS 1 and 2 focusing on Solid Snake and Ocelot didn't capture me like The Boss and Big Boss in MGS 3 and 3-2. Thus, that will conclude the Metal Gear series games for me this year. Very glad I finally got around to playing them. :)

Game 14 (Jan. 26, 2014): LIMBO (360) - 5-6 hours
If the name hadn't been LIMBO, and the descriptions of the game beforehand hadn't been about a kid fighting out of Hell/Limbo, I'd have thought it was just a stylized/silhouetted platformer with some specific set pieces to make the puzzles work. Nothing about the kid dying or going into death's realm in the game itself (though, death is a constant reminder in the areas), and there is no story involved. Not a bad choice, either. Could've gone way too deep, alternatively, so it works to just set up a vague context for the puzzle platformer and go from there. Maybe a little too itchy on the killing, though (got killed by my butt barely getting stuck on a wooden stick, and then by my nose barely getting caught on a wooden stick; Funny to see, however :lol ). :p Good game to pick up, if you like a relatively short platformer with some interesting mechanics (gravity switching, setting/avoiding traps, along with traditional box pushing).

Game 15 (Jan. 27, 2014): Tiny & Big in Granpa's Leftovers (PC) - ~3.5 hours
This game shines with a controller. Played it with m/kb for the first 45 minutes, and I guess I'm still not used to wasd movement with mouse look or something. Switched computers where I could use a controller, and the game shines. Really surprised this is not on a console anywhere. XBLA, PSN, eShop. It should be on all of them (for $5 or so). Great little game, and fun mechanic of "slice everything, and let God sort it out" mindset. :lol
15 games in one month! What is happening?!? Playing games? Finishing them? In-progress in like 6+ games across different system? This year is rocking! :D

Game 16 (Jan. 30, 2014): Mega Man 3 (NES, 3DS VC) - 4:42
This is the only Mega Man game I had played on its original system. Rented it back in the day, I believe, but never did finish. As Dr. Wily's Revenge above, still don't see how they could've expected most people to finish it until the advent of save states. Mega Man 3 was somewhat easier in that regard than Dr. Wily's Revenge, I think, though. Good game. Pretty long for a Mega Man that you don't have to spend hours/days mastering levels to progress through. :D
Have Mega Man 4 on 3DS to play through, and then I think I'm good with Mega Man short of maybe a sale on some of the other games on 3DS or something.

Game 17 (Jan. 31, 2014): Kid Icarus: Uprising (3DS) - 15:40
Finally got to playing this Sakurai revival, and it's very nice, especially the difficulty slider for someone like me who just wants to get through the game. Had fun with the Streetpass gem stuff, too. Great story. Great twists. And like Smash Bros., no way in heck am I going to try to unlock all the squares on the Treasure Hunt slides. Flying is wonderful. Ground battles were fine in an arena setting but careful walking does not work with this game. "Okay, Pit. Inch your way around this edge ... NO, DON'T DASH TO YOUR DEATH AGAIN!!" Was able to get enough hearts to buy a 300+ weapon, though, which was an interesting experience. :D
Will probably play a couple of multiplayer battles still, but then it's finally on to the next cartridge 3DS game in the backlog!

Game 18 (Feb. 1, 2014): To the Moon (PC) - ~5:15
Took a while to figure out what was happening, but what a neat story and what a touching reason to what to go "To the Moon."
Pretty sure the "pervasive developmental disorder" affecting River was autism. I wonder if autism has touched someone in the development staff's lives and that served as inspiration?
Not much gameplay, but discovering the story through interacting with memories going backwards was a relaxing gameplay mechanic. Looking forward to the next games in the series, whenever they come out. :)
Still have the Christmas episode to play through but not sure if that'll be worth considering as another game or not

Game 19 (Feb. 2, 2014): Closure (PC) - ~6.5 hours
No story. Some vague impressions that there maybe was some kind of theme/story but no story. Puzzle-platformer with the very interesting mechanic of platforms only existing when there's light on them, and it being "empty" space, otherwise. Beat the 72 levels
+10 extra levels, but ain't going to torture myself to get all the moths
in the game, so I'm done. :) Good game to get you to think differently about how to beat a platformer!
Finished the Christmas episode of To the Moon, but it's not enough for a full game count. Looking forward to finishing the next 33+ games! :lol

Game 20 (Feb. 3, 2014): Kirby's Dream Land 3 (SNES, inside of Kirby's 20th Anniversary Collection) - ~7 hours
And the tradition of a Kirby game throwing a few super frustrating collectibles to get continues. Man that's a killer considering Kirby is usually thought of as such as easy, relaxing game. Finished it with all the Star Hearts, so got the good ending. Kirby stole a lot from other Nintendo franchises in this game: R.O.B., freezing Metroids (and helmet-less Samus congratulating you at the end),
blob boss creature from Link's Awakening as the real boss
. Fun, but still prefer Dream Land 2 of the 3 Dream Land games.
Next Kirby game is the N64 one. Never played it either, so looking forward to that! :)

Game 21 (Feb. 3, 2014): DLC Quest + Freemium: Live Free of Die DLC (PC) - 1:43
This is a great game. Had me literally laughing out loud at some of the comments and DLC packs. If you're aware of DLC trends in the industry (and if you're on GAF, you probably are), then this game is highly recommended. Usually < $1 in Steam sales, too. :)

Game 22 (Feb. 4, 2014): Gone Home (PC) - ~2.5 hours
This is not much of a game. More of an interactive story where your exploration reveals the incredibly messed up lives of this family in Oregon. Major Spoilers!
Uncle molested his nephew causing Uncle to become a self-imposed hermit to avoid temptation. Sells pharmacy for a $1 as penance. Dies and leaves house to nephew who may be a closet homosexual but definitely raised a non-closet lesbian daughter, and most of the story is about that lesbian daughter's realization of love for another and abandoning all to it. Oh, and the mom of the family is trying to get together with a co-worker in the forestry group who is dating a girl he eventually marries.
Did I mention it was a messed up family? Can't really recommend it. If you want a revealed mystery story, To the Moon is a lot better, in my opinion.
Oh, well. At least it's another game down! :lol

Game 23 (Feb. 4, 2014): Attack of the Friday Monsters! A Tokyo Tale (3DS) - 5:21
This was a fun game and not too long to get 100%
26/26 episodes and 15/15 Monster Cards
. Japanese voice work with English subtitles. Weird storylines not unusual in Japanese games. The episodes are individual threads of story that you work on through the game. You might have 6 episodes going at once, but you can't decide which episode to work on at a time, so it is a bit of a guided experience in the main storyline. Lots of exploring the same areas again and again with some new areas opening up from time to time to find all the Glims to make new cards. Card-battling experience is very random seeming at first (but you still win sometimes), but it does get more complex as the game goes. Good learning curve there! Nice game to get, if you have a soft spot for Japanese monster movie creatures/weird stories and want a more relaxing game to play. :)
Got this on sale, and it turned out to be a great purchase. Was worried that the random nature of winning Glims from card battles (secondary way to get Glims) was going to make it an impossible affair to get the final Glims, but it didn't take too long, after all! Very enjoyable game.

Game 24 (Feb. 5, 2014): The Simpsons' Arcade Game (360) - ~1.5 hours
This was one of the go-to arcade games on class trips when we'd stop at a food court for lunch. It was about the only game you could usually find 4 people to play with by just asking around. Everyone knew the Simpsons. Having now beat the game, I don't think we ever beat the game on those field trips. Maybe got to Level 3 usually before they'd call us all back to the bus. Game was worth getting just to see the ending after all the years. If you don't have nostalgia goggles handy, though, it's probably just more of a curiosity than a worthwhile purchase. If you do have a pair of nostalgia goggles lying around, it's a fun romp in the short time it lasts. :D
This is fun. :)

Game 25 (Feb. 7, 2014): Super Mario Bros. 2 (NES, 3DS VC) - 3 hours
It was on my backlog so had to play it. (Got it on sale, since I will buy NES/SNES games I like again on 3DS, since it's actually portable.) Same fun as always. Now it goes in the Mario folder, and other games are available to play.
Keeping this going would be awesome, as then I could actually buy new 3DS digital games not on sale, since there wouldn't be a backlog. Oh, what a day ... :lol

Games 26-42
Games 43-63
Games 64-81
Games 82-92
Games 93-111
Games 112-127

If you think Metal Gear Solid 2 has long cutscenes... DO NOT PLAY MGS4. 9 hours of cutscenes... 5 hours of gameplay during my 'playthrough'. The last cutscenes makes you want to laugh at the absurdity of how long and ridiculous it is and then cry at how long it ridiculous it is.

:lol

Was thinking of watching a playthrough of it on YouTube. Still have MGS3 and Peace Walker to play through, too.

Game 3: Beyond 2 Souls - Not Started Yet

Do expansions/DLC count? I just finished the DLC case for AA5, which was about 9 hours long. I think it's substantial enough to count it, but I'd like to play within the rules of the thread.

Do you consider the DLC a separate game or an extension of AA5? Length of the game does not determine whether it counts or not, though. "Completing" a 30-minute game would count as much as a 100-hour one.

Ok. I have absolutely no chance of doing this, but here I go:

Game 1: Professor Layton and The Spectres' Call - Completed!
Finished on 11/01 - 23 hours, Main Story Complete + Most extra puzzles / mini-games.
My first DS Layton after loving the 3DS games. What surprised me is that the visual quality is better than I thought it would be given it's a DS game.
I enjoyed the story and there are some fun characters in the game. If anything, the puzzles are tougher than the 3DS games.
Would recommend this to anyone who is a fan of the 3DS games.

Game 2: EDGE - Completed all normal levels, extended levels and bonus levels with rank C or above (around 15 hours spent on the game)
Really great little puzzler. The controls are a bit flaky at times and there is slowdown which I didn't expect, but it's still an enjoyable game.
I'd rate it a 7/10 and definitely worth the 1.79 I paid for it.

Game 3: Uncharted 2: Among Thieves - Completed on Normal - 13h32mins
Fantastic game. Loved it so much that it motivated me to create a small LTTP thread. Fantastic visuals and a great story - 9/10. Recommended.

Game 4: Fun! Fun! Minigolf; Touch - Completed All Courses and Trick Shots.
I was a little disappointed with this game. Picked it up in a sale so it was worth the money but it really feels like a mobile/iPad game that you play on the train on the way in to work. Not much in terms of gameplay depth or replay value. 5/10.

Game 5: NES Remix - Completed all challenges - 23h 05mins
This is a great game! Tons of content and well worth the money. It really revitalises these old NES games and playing snippets of them makes their flaws more forgivable. Highly recommended - 8/10

Game 6: Mighty Switch Force - Hyperdrive Edition. Completed all levels. 5 hours
An enjoyable enough little game with sharp graphics and a nice dance soundtrack. Having said that, once I'd beaten the levels, I wasn't particularly compelled to try to beat my times and gain a star. Certainly worth what I paid for it but not especially memorable. 6/10.

Game 7: Toki Tori 2 + (Wii U) - Rescued all frogs - not sure how many hours - probably around 20 or so
Really enjoyed this game. What I especially like is that the game doesn't tell you what to do and it's up to you to figure out how the game mechanics are used to progress and influence the creatures to assist you. Visuals are crisp and clean and whilst it sometimes gets frustrating, checkpoints are thoughtfully placed. Would highly recommend - 8/10.

Game 8: Heavy Rain (PS3) - Completed the story once through.
Not quite sure what to say about this. On the one hand, there were things I really liked. On the other hand, it didn't really feel like playing a game and some of the mechanics I just didn't like. Overall though, I had a decent time playing it and surprisingly, I found the story to be quite engaging. Will do a LTTP on this. Would recommend as an experience if you haven't played it. 7/10.

Game 9: Sonic the Hedgehog (Megadrive) - Completed. A couple of hours tops
So I was watching RunButtons '20 Years of Sonic' Let's Play where they play every Sonic game from Sonic 1 to Generations, and I got the itch to fire up the old Megadrive and play this. It looks like turd on my LCD TV but was still playable. Overall I enjoyed revisiting it, mainly because of the music and the nostalgia factor. Green Hill Zone is by far the best stage in my opinion - in other stages they just slow Sonic down too much....

Game 10 - Nintendo Land - Wii U - 30 hours - As far as I'm going to go...
Having played through this game again, I feel it was hugely unappreciated when it released. There is a ton of content here and whilst there are a few duffers (Captain Falcon, I'm looking at you), the 3 really weighty offerings (Metroid, Pikmin, Zelda) really make up for it. And that's just single player. Add multiplayer to the mix and this really is a great package. Hours of fun to be had and a ton of neat touches as usual from Nintendo. Music is also definitely worth a mention as it has some great remixes of classic Nintendo tunes. Overall this game is great - 8/10.

Game 11 - Paper Mario: Sticker Star - 3DS - Finished - about 25 hours
This game seems to have a poor rep on GAF but overall I really enjoyed it. For once, here is a game that doesn't signpost absolutely everything you have to do and is all the better for it. Yes, there are some frustrating parts and some levels that are just not great in terms of design but overall there is a lot of variety. I liked the sticker implementation and especially the 'Things' and figuring out what each sticker does and when best to use it. Likely won't replay, at least not for a long while but still an enjoyable experience. 7/10

Game 12 - Resident Evil Revelations - Wii U - Finished - about 15 hours
I enjoyed this game. I haven't played a RE since RE4 (I skipped 5 and 6 deliberately). Whilst this isn't up to those sort of standards, I still enjoyed the experience. Everything I expected from a more old-school type RE game was there: Shit Plot, Clunky Controls, Terrible Dialog, Great jump-scares, Great setting etc. I felt that this was easier than the earlier RE games because the game is much more generous with Ammo and Herb placement. The scanner system works reasonably well but doesn't add a whole lot to the game. Overall this game was a bit of a throwback for me and for that reason I thoroughly enjoyed it. 7/10.

I'm in, reserving my spot.

1. South Park™: The Stick of Truth™ - PC
Completed 16/03/2014
Great game, extremely funny, recommend it.

2. The Wolf Among Us - PC
Completed 10/07/2014
Another great game by Telltale. I did prefer The Walking Dead (1st season) but still had a great time with this.

3. 80 Days - iOS
Completed 02/08/2014
Went around the world in 66 days on my first attempt. Fun adventure and I'll probably replay it at some point trying out alternative routes.

4. Sorcery! - iOS
Completed 09/08/2014
Brilliant game. The classic gamebook reinvented beautifully for tablet devices and it works really well. Would definitely recommend it.

5. Sorcery! 2 - iOS
Completed 16/08/2014
Much longer than the first game and just more of the same great style and polished presentation. Looking forward to the third part.

6. The Walking Dead: Season 2 - PC
Completed 07/09/2014
I had fun while playing it but for me it didn't hit the heights of the first season.

Viridian6 12/52 games beaten

Game 1: LIMBO (PC) - 6h [13/01] ★★★½
Atmospheric. Last third of game seemed to be sacrificing atmosphere for gimmicks. Secret level was the best part, due to its difficulty.

Game 2: Half-Life 2: Lost Coast (PC) - 1h [16/01] ★★
Barely a game.

Game 3: Final Fantasy IV -Interlude- (PSVita) - 4h [08/02] ★★½
Beaten FFIV years ago. Pretty forgettable.

Game 4: Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc (PSVita) - 19.5h [26/02] ★★★★
Main story was a blast to play through. Some gameplay mechanics felt too gimmicky, and School Mode isn't worth playing. Favourite part was the trials.

Game 5: The Walking Dead (PC) - 14.5h [17/04] ★★★★
Great story and characters.

Game 6: Strikers 1945 Plus (PSVita) - 1.5h [01/05] ★★
Arcade plane shooter. No real challenge since you get infinite continues right off the bat...

Game 7: XCOM: Enemy Unknown (PC) - 43h [16/06] ★★★★★
Beaten on Normal. Fantastic game, loved both the tactical combat and the strategic resource management aspects. Will play Classic with Enemy Within at some point...

Game 8: Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons (PS3) - 6h [21/06] ★★★½
Quite unique gameplay. Never really challenged me though.

Game 9: FTL: Faster Than Light (PC) - ?h [21/08] ★★★★★
I beat FTL on Easy last year but I'm totally counting this. Beaten on Normal, Advanced content enabled. God I love this game.

Game 10: Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair (PSVita) - 29.5h [23/09] ★★★
Felt the first game was more compelling, with better plot and characters. By contrast most of the characters here were one-dimensional, and the story felt bloated, with too many disparate elements. Still the trials remain fun, and this game definitely has its high points.

Game 11: Dragon's Crown (PSVita) - 18h [06/10] ★★★
Liked the art and concept, but gameplay was ultimately too repetitive and at times confusing. Choosing equipment felt too tedious than it should be for this kind of game.

Game 12: Metal Slug XX (PSVita) - 1.5h [02/11] ★★★
Well, Metal Slug is entertaining as always. Infinite continues means I never really learned how to play the game...

Game 1: TOMB RAIDER - 19 hours, finished 1/1/14

Well I did a bit of multiplayer and a bit of idling too so I doubt the SP portion took me that long but I did 100% and spent quite sometime looking to complete those challenges. All in all, I enjoyed it. Gameplay was nice, decent mix between platforming and shooting, sprinkled with a couple of puzzles. Story was ok, would definitely buy a sequel.

Game 1: Call of Duty: Ghosts - 10 Hours

What a piece of shit game. If I spent one more minute playing it, I would have made myself a ghost. Worst, most unsatisfying turd I have played in a long time. The ending sucked balls...well, the whole thing did, but holy sheeeeeeit the ending was just terrible. Uneven visuals as well. Some levels looked almost next gen, but the rest were uprezzed last gen garbage. I liked the underwater level, except for the combat. I also had fun flipping snowmobiles on the ice level. Those were but two kernels of still edible corn in a giant steat-shit. Ugh....

Game 2: AC4: Black Flag - ~30 Hours

Awesome game, but now I have to go through all the SP missions again to get past 93% sync.

Game 3: Tearaway - ~10 hours

Amazing game, just amazing. People are missing out if they aren't willing to give it a shot. I'm going to go back through it and platinum it.

Game 4: Limbo - 3.5 hours

Nice dismal puzzler. A little short, but probably for the better. No real payoff.

I haven't beat 52 games in a year since ever. Challenge accepted. Expect maximum cheese >.>

Any other rules?
Nope! Just have fun and see if you can play 52 games in one year.
This means individual games right? It doesn't count if we beat the same one twice or more...? Do games we started last year count towards this one?

Game 01 | Donkey Kong Jr.
• 01/01/14 to 01/02/14
• 3 minutes (or 59 if ya prefer)
Jumped an climbed through all 4 stages ta save DK from that jerk Mario! Nice an simple! Told ya there'd be cheese!
...Okay okay. I'll cheese game beating another time. I put in an additional 56 minutes of play to top my high score of 196,300. And by Loop 6, Stage 3 I did it! Now my best is 196,900! Someday I'll make it to L6-S4 and hit the 200k mark! btw Stage 2 sucks and is the worst and hardest!! Stage 3 is best cause of its neon awesomeyness!

Game 02 | Super Street Fighter IV
• 01/03/14 to 01/03/14
• 11 minutes
Easiest difficulty, 1 round match cheeseathon with button mashing galore! Ran through arcade mode with Ibuki not knowing any of her moves or even remembering what button does what since its been awhiles since I last played! I liked how her reason for fighting was to ditch training to fight cool guys lol. Also I failed both bonus stages spectacularly x.x

Game 03 | Final Fantasy VII
• 01/04/14 - 01/10/14
• 16 hours, 5 minutes
This is one of the two games I replay every year! This years playthrough was rather fast! An hour longer then my fastest time but I picked up Yuffie & Vincent for the heck of it as well as making sure ta grab most treasure along the way, at least up until partway through disc 1. What'd I learn? I think I finally grasp the Tifa Key controls. What have I never seen before until now? Cloud pimping Xenogears! What new-new thing'd I try? A skip the return to Midgar after beating Diamond WEAPON glitch. Got sent straight to Hojo which glitched the crap outta the audio but saved a whole lot of time! Plus thanks to Bone Village it took infinitely less time to get the W-Item Materia! Woohoo!

Game 04 | Twisted Metal 2
• 01/11/14 to 01/11/14
• 18 minutes
Minion. Infinite health, weapons, turbo & mega machine guns. Now this is cheesing it to the max! Love this games music and levels an overall insanity. I swear I beat this game legitimately at least once so I've earned my cheat-throughs!

Game 05 | Rogue Trip: Vacation 2012
• 01/12/14 to 01/12/14
• 30 minutes
Love this game. Totally enabled God Mode & various cheats cause why not? Spammed the Meteor weapon so hard that even Sephiroth would be like wtf! I obviously didn't bother showing the tourists a good time but w/e! Only really bad thing about the game is its lack of endings but that kinda things not gameplay anyways so w/e to that to!

Game 06 | Twisted Metal: Black
• 01/18/14 to 01/18/14
• 18 minutes
Brand new system, same old cheatin'! Used Dollface since she's totally my fave character in the lineup. I just wish there was a cheat to disable enemies! This is one of those games where I'd love to just walk/drive about and take in the still amazing scenery peacefully. Still one of my most fave game worlds out there!

Game 07 | Brain Age: Concentration Training
• 12/28/13 to 02/05/14
• 46 hours, 45 minutes
This is a really great game! Sure it takes 40 days ta unlock everything an finally see the ending credits but that can be cheesed by just changing your system clock. But I did things legit an played that many days straight... with many more to come! There were some returning exercises I didn't like but its not like ya gotta do them all. Overall I enjoy the majority of exercises found within both new & old! About an hours worth of fun a day, assuming ya don't repeat things you're allowed to repeat, is super solid. Shame this game was apparently overlooked by many!

Game 08 | Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance
• 02/08/14 to 02/08/14
• 6 hours, 28 minutes
I honestly tried playing through on Normal mode but in the end I'm bad at games an cheese won out. It was super fun for all the wrong reasons I'm sure some peeps'd say. Liked the good guys in the cast, bad ones not to much. This game sure made the MG universe alot crazier an it was good ta see Raiden back in a leading role!

Game 09 | Devil May Cry 4
• 02/08/14 to 02/09/14
• 5 hours, 33 minutes
dicerollingboardgameroom.jpg
...... Wait wait there is more I can say about the game then that! Its really fun but wows so slow feeling in comparison to MGR! I replayed the game on Human difficulty which is the lowest of the low and with all the powerups carried over from my original playthrough which made things a great deal easier, and faster! Skipped all non-mandatory fights and pointless "hey you can progress now" cutscenes ta help speed things along. Choked bigtime in Dante's forest levels getting lost going in circles and blargh! Shoulda used a guide. Good stuff but the second half really is just pointless rehashing.

Game 10 | Bayonetta
• 02/10/14 - 02/15/14
• 10 hours, 14 minutes
Mashing walls to progress and mashing treasure chests to open them is pure filler an pure dumb! Bayonetta can kiss my butt for killing me 4 fucking times in a cutscene. QTE insta-deaths, gotta love 'em! Also one time I had killed the last enemy in a group and the battle results were on the screen and its last attack still hit me x_x! Whys this games camera always spazzing the heck out? Against normal baddies it leads ta taking hits from offscreen ya never could've seen coming an against anti-hero witch lady it just freaks the heck out to the point of me not only losing track of her but of myself as well! Whys the game goin' all zelda on me? I know if you collect 4 pieces of heart ya get more life you don't have to show that popup every single time! Lastly this game likes its cheap shots! At the start of every encounter one baddie'll be launching an attack in your face before ya even got the opportunity to move!

Game 11 | Drill Dozer
• 02/21/14 - 02/21/14
• 2 hours, 32 minutes
This is one of the two games I replay every year! This playthrough went by real fast cause I cheated an used the full gearbox code! Having Level 3 gear at the start of each stage allows ya to skip past big chunks of quite a few of 'em! Course it means ya dun really get to hear the stage music >.> Plus I had all my powerups from previous runs of the game, so ya! Tank damage ta save time! Skipping story scenes helps too. I really loves this game its defintely one of the GBA's bests an one of the few ta take full advantage of Gameboy Player support! It also goes ta show how one simple mechanic can be pushed in many different ways!

Game 12 | Yakuza
• 02/24/14 - 03/05/14
• 23 hours, 0 minutes
I still dun care what anyone says, I like this games dub! But like overall the games showing its age at long last. Lotsa stuff feels clunky an the load times bite. Running through Kamurocho an seeing places where stuff'll be present in later games but not here also kinda makes it feel alil empty but ignoring that there's still a crapton of optional stuff to do an places to visit so its still well worth playing! I stuck with Normal difficulty all the way through, for once never dying enough times on any one fight ta be prompted to lower it! I tried to make sure I did all the missions an coin lockers but even using a guide I messed up a couple missions an missed 1 key so x.x; My hostess of choice for this playthrough was Yuzu from Shine for no other reason then because theres only 6 ta choose from an she's the last in line. Well worth it to cause in return I got back way more money then I'd put into befriending her an a nice lil exp payoff to! Never will get why some people say they'd be okay with Segac cutting such content.

Game 13 | .hack//Infection
• 03/17/14 to 03/22/14
• 12 hours, 12 minutes
For the first time since I first played through the game 10 years ago I'm not going for 100% completion! Just a good ol' fashion standard playthrough. One new thing however is that for the first time ever I went with the JP audio track! The dubs great an all but so much time with JP-only .hack material I kinda felt like trying the early stuff that way to. The gameplays still really fun to me an I'm lightly challenging myself ta do even better. Thats mean lots more time spent in menus switching gear, telling party members what to do, using items, and so on but getting through tougher mobs efficiently is much simpler then hammering away at the attack button!

Game 14 | Phantasy Star Universe
• 03/23/14 to 03/28/14
• 18 hours, 20 minutes
Way back when this game came out in late 2006 was the first an only time I've played through the story mode. Why? Cause when ya got online mode why would ya play offline? Lotsa peeps crapped on PSU's launch online mode even though it was good and wayyyy better than its offline story mode! Its filled with bad voice acting, very poorly timed subtitles, and overly long missions! I played through as a Ranger an boy oh boy will this game hate ya for doing that. There's usually only 1 spot to recharge your weapons per mission and its really not sufficient! You're forced ta carry some melee weapons cause unlike guns their regular attacks don't drain PP. Bleh! Chapter 8 is the biggest bullshit of all cause ya start straight up in a mission which means you got no opportunity to recharge before going into it! The mission length is artificially long cause they just have ta make ya run through each an every map they made instead of saving some for Extra Mode or Online Mode. Aaaand each one has multiple "trials" where ya must complete whatever objective in an unknown amount of time for an S rank & goodies. But they don't tell you the time to beat nor will ya know what they want of you your first time through and they're not replayable so if ya care for ranks & loot ya better reload your last save an redo a buncha crap! This games story mode blows.

Game 15 | Metal Gear Solid
• 03/29/14 to 03/30/14
• 8 hours, 13 minutes
I'm so bad I got an alert in the very first room even though I had stealth camo x.x To be fair I forgot I had it. Even though I went in knowing I was loading up a NG+ file so... I'm bad and forgetful. Played on EZ mode with no regrets or apologies cause gawd damn it I still died to that tank 5 times. The second half of the game kinda falls apart with the endless stair climbing in the control towers and the pal card backtracking. Still a fun game even with me cheesing the heck outta it with stealth camo & bandana! An I still like the whole post-boss battle powering up mechanic Snake had. Dunno why all the other games start ya with max health bar & item space. btw whats up with Liquid? He'll follow his genes ta save his "brothers" the genome soldiers but not his brother-brother Solid?

Game 16 | Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Demoes
• 04/04/14 to 04/05/14
• 2 hours, 50 minutes
I rented an played through it in 1 sitting an all in all found its gameplay ta be awfully boring. The controls were totally not suitable for somelike me who's got next ta no experience with third person shooters! There was no story. No boss fights. No nothing really. Just do a thing then do that exact same thing a second time. Lotsa games can be boiled down to that formula but they also have stuff between all of the repetition! I guess like Bayonetta this is just one of those games I'll never "get".

Game 17 | Yakuza 2
• 03/30/14 to 04/10/14
• 35 hours, 35 minutes
Games 100% better then the first Yakuza right from the start! Quite abit longer to huh? Twice the towns, locker keys, tons more missions, way more mini-games, an importantly way more ways ta smash peoples faces! Battles lose the clunky feeling but some of it still persists while running around town and in buildings. The camera really hates you and itself in the Omi HQ for instance! Plus there are still missables like hey, theres only a couple times in the game you can get breakfast menu items an if ya don't, forget the food completion list! An getting the secret bosses means doing all the missions like last time, but here there are many missions tied to sports mini-games which I'll forever suck and fail at >_<; Much better characters & story then the first btw! Ending is soooo good.

Game 18 | .hack//Mutation
• 04/11/14 to 04/17/14
• 11 hours, 33 minutes
More characters, more bosses, more story, somehow less play time! Dunno how it works out like that! Even if they play the same, this ones still a step above the first because reasons. Reasons like being able ta data drain multiple baddies at once, and most story dungeons being 3 floors as opposed to 5. Many more very annoying monster types pop up ta increase the challenge. Totally not a slog like the next volume'll be~

Game 19 | Phantasy Star: Portable
• 04/19/14 to 04/20/14
• 7 hours, 52 minutes
The return of cheese in a big way! See in order ta replay the games story mode you can start fresh or... make a copy of your previous character which carries over their appearance and level. Ya see where I'm going with this? Anyhows this is a big improvement over PSU in alot of ways mechanically. No dumb time trials for one. Lotsa new classes, weapon types, the timed attack and improved weapon PP regeneration, an all that good stuff! Pretty big downgrade in presentation cause most cutscenes are just still images of characters yapping away and all the cities are now menu-based instead of letting ya run around them. It also stinks that the "common box" features not in this game, cause it woulda allowed even further cheesing! The story is kinda rehashy in how it progresses by revisiting scenarios found in the first game but still better overall since its more character focused. Long live Vivienne and your mute hero character whose refered to as "him" even if she's a her!

Game 20 | Final Fantasy X HD Remastered
• 04/15/14 to 05/08/14
• 41 hours, 46 minutes
I gots a bad history with the FF series an this is why I never gave FFX or anything beyond a chance but it turns out this ones alright by me! Fun game overall even if its lacking polish in a buncha areas. The battles can be speedy and story good! Not much more ya need outta an rpg!

Game 21 | Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty
• 05/13/14 to 05/16/14
• 13 hours, 27 minutes
Best Metal Gear game right here! I did alot better this time through which prolly isn't saying much when playing on very easy but I did finally learn how to hold guys up pretty well an collect lotsa dog tags! Love how theres so many tools at your disposal in this game but tranquilizing guys and not killing thems still my style!

Game 22 | Kirby: Triple Deluxe
• 05/10/14 to 05/17/14
• 8 hours, 50 minutes
Cute & Fun! That's Kirby for ya. I found this game ta be very anti-stale for a 2D Platformer. The fore/background stuff was real clever an made for lotsa neat moments in levels. I really suck at the level end cannon thing cause like always I suck at timing. Sooo many half-assed Kirby dances ;.; btw Bell/Circus/Leaf were my fave powers!

Game 23 | Yakuza 3
• 05/17/14 to 05/26/14
• 49 hours, 54 minutes
Cheeeeeeseeee! Premium New Game mode! Having tons o' money, skills, items/equipment from my first playthrough really let me experiment a whole lot more this time through and generally speed things along. This time around I tried alil bit of everything! All the mini-games, completed the dining list, all the IF7 matches an for the first time of any playthrough of any Yakuza game for me I finally managed ta beat all the sub-stories! I really enjoyed the much improved batting cages and bowling. Even golf was a great improvement but that dun mean I like it!! Karaoke, Fishing, & Darts are fun while Pool is... something I obviously gots no idea how ta play! Okinawa and Orphanage stuff rules, story & characters pretty great, and wow at the jump to HD. Kamurocho almost felt fresh from that alone! Segac still sucks for the cut content btw.

Game 24 | Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3
• 05/27/14 to 05/27/14
• 26 minutes
More new game+ cheatin' for me! Have 170-some lives from previous playthroughs + lots of Feathers/P Wings/Hammer Bros. suits, etc from e-reader cards = quick path to victory! I coulda started right at the World 8 castle but level select is to big a cheat for even me to count! So I ran through the first 3 stages & fortress of World 1 ta get whistles, then warp zoned to World 8 an ran through each level there! I got owned pretty hard by several levels and Bowser all of which I blame on the DS A/B button placement which really messed me up! Shoulda dug out my Gameboy Player!

Ohhh ya just know I used cheats here! Mega Machineguns are OP as always since they quickly tear through any opponent! I like how loaded this game is with destructible stuff in each level, prolly the most landscape changing TM game I've played. Shame about the music however. Its all really hit & miss. Love how it starts with a bang and the craziness of the bosses!

Game 26 | Hakuoki: Stories of the Shinsengumi

Played... read through the main story of the game? Its a visual novel so how much playing can reallys be expected? I dunno, but a games a game! Still like the story & characters, an hey the big screen visuals are an obvious improvement over the PSP version!

Game 27 | .hack//Outbreak

That went by smoother & faster then expected! Experience an knowledge of the game goes a long way on replays huh? Monsters with physical or magical defense get thrown at ya a whole bunch starting in this chapter of the saga so right from the start I stocked up on items ta help negate those statuses! It also throws a crapload of data bugs at ya to... but only if you're doing optional dungeons which I did not! Cubia's a chump here but the other 2 big bosses got some killer attacks but only a small shot at wiping the party. Plus theres a dungeon early on with a tough Data Bug ya gotta solo early on so the difficulty is ramping up! On the brightside my favorite party member joins up in this game so hurrah!

Game 28 | Phantasy Star Universe: Ambition of the Illuminus
• 09/08/14 to 09/09/14
• 6 hours, 37 minutes
Its a sequel with non content which couldn't be found by playing the original PSU! No new levels, baddies, story, items, etc! ...But that only applies to the story mode which is what I played through. The story missions were all released on vanilla PSU's online mode so ya. Oh wait there was a single new fmv cutscene added to the start of Chapter 1 and a new OP. Ya better believe I plowed through it with a high level character from transferred over from the first game an did the lowest difficulty versions of the story missions! Storys a step up from PSU but still pretty one-track minded. Also wtf at the Moatoob love? 4 outta 10 chapters took place there. Chapter 9-2 is still pretty much one of the worst things ever, while Chapter 10-1 is so unique they didn't reuse the idea of fighting in the cities and having no radar ever again. Why?! >_<

Game 29 | Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater
• 06/13/14 to 06/15/14
• 14 hours, 30 minutes
Doesn't reach the heights of MGS or MGS2 but still a mostly fun enough game! Very Easy + EZ Gun = impossible to lose! Well I mean it is possible but even I'm not that bad. Although it did take me a lap around that pitch black cave to realize I was supposed to use the Cigar to light the way and not the Thermal Goggles... x_x; In this playthrough I did something I never do in any other play of a MGS game an thats kill everyone, everywhere! It wasn't fun an lengthened the game abit, and the payoff wasn't really worth it neither. Low/No kill runs are best in my book!

Game 30 | Yakuza 4
• 06/16/14 to 07/02/14
• 82 hours, 10 minutes
They made the UFO Catcher soooooo annoying. Oh I mean wow that tooks a long time! It didn't have to but I went ahead an finished 16/18 challenges! I even went ahead an managed ta beat Amon! Got kinda a crappy reward compared to the previous games one. For the first time in any Yakuza game I managed to use the Rope heat move and beat all the coliseum fights! The games improved in many small ways such as having a stamp next to foods you've ordered in the shop menu instead of having to check your own list beforehand. But theres been a big change in how moneys earned. In past games ya got the bulk of it through substories but here, very few of 'em have cash rewards. Of course with me using NG+ with near maxed characters, tons of items, and lotsa cash to start with anyway it wasn't as big a deal as my first time playing! I'm still not super happy with how the story goes moving from one character to the next. Kinda miss playing as the previous one after awhile, plus with how much extra stuff there is to do its easy to lose track of the story! But it is cool how each character has their own special lil challenges. Whats not cool is all the typos/errors this games translation has! They got an instance of the grand crime of one character saying a line then the next saying the very same! Also a line which can't be fully read cause the text goes offscreen! Well I guess it still beats having a ton of cut content ala Yakuza 3.

Game 31 | .hack//Quarantine

The Final Chapter! Of the games! Well not really. Of R:1! Err, not quite. Of this particular saga! Whats that about an OVA? Okay okay well its the end of something! By this point ya got the know-how, the skills, the gear (an soon even better gear!) so when they sound out the toughest most annoying regular monsters at ya, you can handle it. I mean they can still very much easily ruin your day but only if ya get lazy/have learned nothing. The games kinda padded in that they have ya running through the same dungeon 3 times but that has some story significance. The 4 dungeons ya gotta run through in order to essentially get the keys to unlock the final one? Nothing ta do with the story. It hurts most that they're all 5 floors deep. But the payoff is still one of the best endings in a game to me!

Game 32 | Phantasy Star Portable 2
• 07/18/14 to 07/20/14
• 4 hours, 34 minutes
L120+ character plus regular difficulty story missions = breeze! Unlike AotI, re-doing story missions here throws ya right into battle so no pre-/post- mission story stuff is seen again but there are story recap notes available for reading ta catch ya up on things. This was the best of the series by far thanks to the new combat mechanics, lotsa new monsters, and areas, and everything! Them story missions were real good with lil challenges/obstacles that don't suck. Just a shame that like every other game in the series, none of these challenges carry over to free missions in single or multiplayer -.-;

Game 33 | Phantasy Star Portable 2 Infinity
• 07/21/14 to 08/04/14
• 17 hours, 0 minutes
Playing with a translation guide is kinda clunky but things worked out well enough! No cheating here btw cause I had ta start a new character from the ground up! Story mission objectives were another step up and real enjoyable an good challenges. The new content I've seen so far has been pretty great to. The new free missions are far less laid back than what I've come to expect from the series! Seems like they finally figured out how ta rapidly spawn more baddies an have up to 3 different types of 'em on the field (as opposed to 2 from before) which means lots more weapon switching! This is a game I'ma totally keep plugging away at this for a good long while!

I finished 87 last year so this should be a cinch

Finalized 52
Game 1: Urban Trial Freestyle - 4 Hours
(Started 1/3/14 / Finished: 1/3/14) I love Trials and this isn't very good. It is a very basic clone of the Trials formula that's real highlight is the challenge tracks where you need to hit a bullseye or jump really high. Also the same track is used too much.

Game 2: The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds -17 Hours(6 in 2013)
(Started: 12/20/13 / Finished: 1/21/14) I still feel the dungeons are too short but everything else was really wonderful. The collectibles weren't frustrating, the music was grand, the story was fun, and the use of the graffiti mode was great. Their was a lot of interesting puzzle designs and it really felt like the first real Zelda I've played in ages that felt like Zelda from start to finish. Would have been #6 on my top 10 of 2013

Game 3: Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch - 59 hours 44 Minutes
(Started 1/2/14 / Finished 1/24/14)
Started really really really slow but once you can catch monsters and have a second party member the game just takes off. Shock and awe here but the animation is superb, the soundtrack hits all the right notes and the story is capable of tugging the heart strings. The game manages to keep itself simple but not feel shallow and that might be one of its most impressive qualities. Going back to the story I was so impressed how much I felt invested in this little magical world, and going back to Motorville gave me that Earthbound feel of childhood with its look and sound. Brilliant.

Game 4: DLC Quest -2 Hours
(Started 1/25/14 / Finished 1/25/14)
It was cold out and snowing I wanted to do a quickie since leaving bed just seems like a terrible idea. DLC Quest is extremely clever for the way it points out how bad DLC can get but the game really isn't very good and goes on entirely too long. The Freemium quest was driving me up the wall.

Game 5: Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Minis March Again! -2 Hours 22 Minutes
(Started 1/25/14 / Finished 1/26/14)
Got this last year as a Nintendo Club Reward, I miss this series being full of DK94 style game play instead of being a boring lemmings puzzler. The game is a real snore.

Game 6: Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3 Vita - 20 Minutes
(Started 1/29/14 / Finished 1/29/14)
Hate to be that guy to be the first to do a fighting game but I am as I work towards all endings. Pretty good vita port.

Game 7: Batman: Arkham City -18 Hours
(Started 1/28/14 / Finished: 1/30/14)
I understand why this was praised so highly as the best game of the year by many a few years ago. Aslyum was good but felt very cramped and despite supposedly having many options to clear out rooms it really didn't feel that way. City really presents a lot of variety on handling situations and although I struggled at first I really did get into the atmosphere. There isn't much I'd change about Arkham City except I really did hate the Catwoman parts, a lot.

Game 8: Balloon Kid -1 Hour 20 Minutes
(Started 2/3/14 / Finished 2/3/14)
A sequel to Balloon Fight that I really didn't know that existed but it is a pretty good game made from well very little the NES game had. The last 3 levels aren't very good and go from nice fun air platformer to cheap BS.

Game 9: Touch My Katamari - 5 Hours (1 Hour in 2013)
(Started 1/1/13 / Finished 2/13/14)
I like this series but I'm also awful at it. This game really was no different with only two levels where I scored 5 stars, the rest being 1 starred. The series controls have gotten a lot better with the jump ability being a blessing. No longer do you need to waste time climbing over things when a simple jump frees you

Game 10: Kingdom Hearts 1 Final Mix HD -58 Hours (20 Hours in 2013)
(Started 11/23/13 / Finished 2/14/14)
I was very very late to the PS2 party in 2006 and this was the first game I played for the system. I loved it having wanted to join the fun everyone else was having for years at this point. Playing the game now though was a little different because I actually haven't touched the series since (except chain of memories) so when friends complained about the combat being basic or the camera being trash, I really couldn't see it. I loved my time with the game but playing a game that I know how it plays out kinda bugged me. If you don't attempt side stuff then you have only 2 short scenes that add anything to your play. Still a great game and I'll do some trophy hunting but can't see myself doing another playthrough.

Game 11: Patchwork Heroes- 6 Hours
(Started 2/16/14 / Finished 2/18/14)
I got this on plus a long time ago and recently started it. It's like qix except the objective is to destroy warships that are trying to wipe out towns. The game is a lot of fun until the last few story missions which drove me nuts over the course of 2 hours. "We came, We Saw" (because they cut the warpships with saws) is the phrase the protagonist utters when you start missions and its the most memorable part of the game. That certainly wouldn't be the story which never made any sense from start to finish.

Game 12: Mickey Mouse Castle of Illusion (Genesis) -2 Hours
(Started 2/25/14 / Finished 2/25/14)
My friend said I had to play this before playing the HD version and boy was he right. I never got to experience many Genesis games and this one is great. Hard as heck, and pretty trippy but a very enjoyable old school platformer.

Game 13: Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons - 6 Hours
(Started 3/3/14 / Finished 3/4/14)
I'm ready to slap everyone who said this game was a GOTY cotender. The story is fantastic and successfully tells a story without dialog, letting you learn who these characters are past the shallow 'he is the little brother and immature, and he is the older brother and semi mature'. Interacting with the environment lets you not only get insight to these characters but this world they live in. The graphics are stunning, and the game wisely installed benches everywhere for you to take in the views. So what is my issue? The game is a buggy mess full of game breaking glitches that require you to restart entire chapters, and freezes that send you to the dashboard. The controls while interesting are downright awful at times refusing to respond. A video game needs to be playable to be fun and breaking my immersion with dashboard crashes just takes me out of it, so does controls that fail to work in key moments.

Game 14: Smart As... - 3 Hours
(Started 2/14/14 / Finished 3/6/14)
All games unlocked. It's a brain age like game that wants to use the rear touchpad and AR cards far too much for my liking

Game 15: Metroid II: Return of Samus -2:58
(Started 3/11/14 / Finished 3/12/14)
100% of all items and just barely got the best time, although completely accidental. I never gave this Metroid a chance but man its not bad. Well except the Spider Ball, great idea but worst responding controls ever.

Game 16: A.R.E.S -2 Hours
(Started 10/4/13 / Finished: 3/13/14)
Such a Mega Man clone, specifically Mega Man Zero. It works though, the game is decent and remains to be fun without being brutally hard. It does have a lot of instant death though.

Game 17: Super Fantasy Zone - 2 Hours
(Started 3/18/14 / Finished 3/18/14)
Very interesting shmup that isn't scrolling but has a set amount of space with enemies and spawners. You have to break the spawners and then fight the boss of each level. Upgrades are handled by a shop that appears when you enter a stage or die. Laser + Quarter Missile = best combo by far. Only a few bosses are really a pain thankfully.

Game 18: Deadpool -7 Hours
(Started 2/15/14 / Finished 3/18/14)
So I'll be frank, this is one of the WORST game I've ever played and I've beaten Yaris. Here is the crazy thing though, Deadpool has some of the funniest cutscenes and best writing I've seen in the comedy department in years. I know the whole 60% metacritic scandal but the fact is this game would have been so much better as something similiar to Asura's Wrath, that not really a game genre. It is great to watch and murder to play. I must have died hundreds of times in badly checkpointed sections until I just ran past enemies for the next checkpoint. Another favorite of mine is the game telling you to do something but the game makes it impossible to navigate and figure out where you are going. I have not been so frustrated with a game in years.

Game 19: Thomas Was Alone - 5 Hours
(Started 3/23/14 / Finished 3/24/14)
Puzzle platformers and me have a rough history, this game was no different in some aspects. The limitations set on characters during stages annoy me as do repeated mechanics over and over and over. What I do like about this game is that each character had their own talents and the mix of stages made that easier to stand. Something as simple as having a powerless character in a freefall stage is refreshing. Storywise this game is brilliant and frightening when you piece it all together. The narration of each character is great and oddly gives personalities to a bunch of colored rectangles. Worth playing indeed.

Game 20: Double Dragon II - 2 Hours
(Started 3/26/14 / Finished 3/26/14)
About what I expected. The game was about three levels long and filled with very cheap bosses but they all fall for the classic vertical walking beatdown trick in most beat em ups. Weird to play a Double Dragon game though without a spinning kick, I did have a shoryuken though for some reason.

Game 21: Steamworld Dig - 3:30
(Started 3/26/14 / Finished 3/29/14)
Metroid meets Minecraft in this indie game starring robots in the west. It isn't a terrible game but the game can get boring and thankfully the relief is the metroid like upgrades to make traversal easier. The game has a single boss, a boring story, and enemies that don't feel like fighting until the end act of the game. Enjoyable but I wouldn't likely buy a sequel unless it was dirt cheap.

Game 22: Banishing Racer - 2 Hours
(Started 3/31/14 / Finished 4/1/14)
Weird Japanese platformer about a car traveling across America. It would be frustrating if it weren't for the fact every 4 enemies you jump on (and you get a lot of hang time) earns you a 1UP. Despite there not being checkpoints its hard to run out of lives.

Game 23: Ganso!! Yancha-Maru - 2 Hours
(Started 4/1/14 / Finished 4/3/14)
This is Kid Niki for the Gameboy, it is a decent platformer. The bosses can be spam killed by bum rushing them and you can stack lives at the end of levels easily. Not much else to say.

Game 24: Pokemon White - 26 Hours and 39 Minutes
(Started 2/24/14 / Finished 4/4/14)
So first off the silly bit that back when this first released I played it and quit when I got too bored to go on. That point? VICTORY ROAD! What was I thinking?! I actually like the game a lot better now having played the much needed, much more refreshing Pokemon X. I thought I was done with the franchise but turns out I just needed a graphics boost. Now Post X I can appreciate what this game does and while I wouldn't have had 4-5 towns become post game content I can appreciate the story the game drives. The Gym Leaders, and Champion feel as integral to the plot as the Professors, Rivals, and evil team of the generation. White tries a lot of stuff that either hits the mark or misses it badly in the end. The Super Rod being a post game item makes me confused and sad despite how funny that scene is. It won't go down as my favorite generation but it beats the Diamond/Pearl generation easily.

Game 25: Mass Effect 3 - 110 Hours
(Started 2/17/14 / Finished 4/13/14)
I'm at a real loss for words here. I could have dealt with far less banshees in my gaming life, and a lot less of terrible party members like Ashley or Vega or that Snooki look alike that tried to get on my ship in this game. Those are the negative parts and they are far outweighed by some of the best character interaction in the entire series or in any video game period.
They are outweighed by one of the most moving stories and an inevitable ending that was going to happen.Without the Leviathan DLC I could have been pretty upset because a lot is withheld from you if you lack that DLC, like game changing earth shattering things. I have no idea where they take the series and as much as I want more, I'm also ready for this to be my last adventure in the series. The ending hasn't scarred me but you have a general idea of the way things will go with the characters you care about and that was before the extended edition was put in. Mass Effect was always about the journey, and the twists along the way because the end of each game was pretty clear from a general direction. There was only one true way things could end, no matter the choices you make.

Game 26: Mickey Mouse Castle of Illusion HD - 3 Hours
(Started 4/15/14 / Finished 4/22/14)
My friend was 100% right that playing the original Genesis game first would make me appreciate this game a lot more. This is a wonderful remake that kept the balance between staying true to what it was and expanding it at the same time. The narration also a very nice touch.

Game 27:Machinarium - 5 Hours
(Started 9/17/13 - Finished 4/27/14)
This is one of those point and click games that I can get behind in theory but just don't love playing it. The puzzles were creative sometimes and other times flat out perplexing even when I knew the solution. The look though is wonderful and the way the robot civilians move and how this world feels alive is great.

Game 28: NES Remix - 8 Hours 54 Mins
(Started 5/2/14 - Finished 5/9/14)
Love this remix! I have played some of the second already and still feel they are both on par with each other. This is a big focus on Nintendo's more arcadey titles instead of the titles we know and love featured in 2. Still I loved everything that wasn't Clu Clu Land or Ice Climbers. I look forward to pursuing all 612 stars!

Game 29: Kirby: Triple Deluxe - 6 hours 33 Mins
(Started 5/3/14 - Finished 5/12/14)
I easily had as much fun with this Kirby than I have some of the best Kirby games made. Around 36-42 levels with 24 powers, and not a dud new power added. In fact the new powers they added are pretty fun to use and the games gimmick focus feels different every time and much more thought out than Return to Dreamland. Level design is all around great and there is a lot to tackle post game if you solely focused on the story mode. One of my favorites this year so far.

Game 30: NES Remix 2 - 9 Hours
(Started 5/9/14 / Finished 5/16/14)
Remix 2 is great but the whole characters crossing over is a bit overblown. Its ok but mostly its Mario 2 Peach in Mario 3. The only downside is the pen-ultimate game you unlock is NES Open Tournament Golf which is extremely disappointing.

Game 31: New Super Mario Bros. U - 14 Hours
(Started 5/2/14 / Finished 5/17/14)
Another NSMB title another solid game. No real gripes as each level had solid variations/gimmicks to it that made it an enjoyable experience. The Squirrel suit was neat but not very useful and not used a lot. My only gripe is way too much ice flower, really hate that powerup as nothing is effected by it. Gathering Star Coins will be a journey of re-playability..

Game 32: Tomb Raider - 35 Hours
(Started Sometime in 2013 / Finished 6/2/14)
This game was great, I can't believe I dropped this in 2013. Loved every bit of this, even the combat I'm oh so terrible at. This was the first TR game I really got into because the story matched the cinematic which matched the game play and finally felt like a AAA game to me instead of a joke.

Game 33: Tekken 3D: Prime Edition - An Hour or 2?
(Started 6/17/14 / Finished 6/17/14)
It looks great, it sounds great, it has a large cast of fighters BUT it also has NO story mode, no arcade mode and nothing to do but survival mode. So I did the 100 man survival mode, finished and fell asleep from boredom after.

Game 34: Noir Syndrome -1 Hour
(Started 6/25/14 / Finished 6/25/14)
It really is like acting out a Noir film, you have 14 days to stop the murders and you never know what will happen. You have essentially one shot to get it right and boy if its a mobster your shooting you better be packing heat as you fight your way out of a scene. I liked that sometimes the killer would only commit one murder, sometimes more, or sometimes bodies would drop every single day. Will play more for sure

Game 35: Mario Kart 8 - 6 Hours
(Started: 5/30/14 / Finished 6/26/14)
All cups finally done! I really gave liked this Mario Kart a lot more than the last ....bunch but man the online drives me nuts. Can never connect to anything!

Game 36: Goat Simulator - 3 Hours
(Started 6/26/14 / Finished 6/27/14)
Awesome. Stupid. Loved it. This is the kind of simulator I can get behind. I burst out laughing at some of the Tony Hawk-esque score rewards that'd pop up.

Game 37: Fallout 3 - 78 Hours
(Started 2008 / Finished 6/27/14)
Although I still have 11 quests left of dlc shenanigans I'm done the main original questline. Fallout 3 is a shallow game, that is easy to fall in love with and then the more you play the less happy you get. The quests are shallow with great setup, no punch, and barely any outcome. They don't have twists, turns, or even anything remotely interesting. The world itself? great. Its just kinda empty and as shallow as kiddy pool. Yeah I got wet but I'm envious that I don't have an adult sized pool to swim in.

Game 38: The Stanley Parable - 90 minutes
(Started 6/30/14 / Finished 6/30/14)
I don't know what I just played. I seriously think the Game Grumps demo was LONGER than this game. I know there are tons of endings and I got a bunch, and the ending I thought was another side one was actually one of the longer ones you can get aside from the wait 4 hours one. What a weird experience.

Game 39: Mutant Mudds Deluxe - 5 Hours
(Started 6/27/14 / Finished 7/8/14)
I wanted to play this so bad, and it is really freaking boring. Like there is nothing to this game, and I hate that you can't hold the powerups on you. Only one at a time....ugh. The secret levels are the most interesting part but you have to suffer through 20 levels to really consistently do them. The ghost levels? just wait til you have grannie who can equip all three power-ups.

Game 40: Bucky O' Hare - 5 Hours
(Started 6/28/14 / Finished 7/10/14)
The game is painful but it has a lot of interesting way before its own time ideas by Konami. Can't recommend this disaster to anyone but it was interesting.

Game 41: Gears of War - 6 Hours
(Started: 6/26/13 / Finished 7/10/14)
Finally went through the last two acts and while I like the cover system the game had very little thrill to it for me. I enjoyed some aspects but a lot of the game was me just wanting something to happen, or groaning at the 500th split-up.

Game 42: Tekken 2 - 30 Mins
(Started 7/11/14 / Finished 7/11/14)
Picked it up for 99 cents since it was the only Tekken I've never played. Its better than the first but man that King costume is bad

Game 43: Peggle 2 - 11 Hours
(Started 7/14/14 / Finished 7/14/14)
It was on sale and I just had to play it, I think its been 4 or 5 years since I played the first one. Peggle 2 is a lot more challenging than the first and I liked the addition of the Trial challenges. So 11 hours of nothing but Peggle I finished the game, then my power went out.

Game 44: The Wolf Among Us Episode 1: Faith - 2 Hours
(Started 7/17/14 - Finished 7/18/14)
This is the first time I've liked an entire first episode of a TellTale game. Bigby comes off as Wolverine as the local Sheriff which I can totally get behind. The last second choices and decisions on going one place or another is brilliant and gives you that sense that you can't do everything compared to Walking Dead's everything is going to turn to crap regardless.

Game 45: Live A Live - 22 Hours
(Started ....2008? / Finished 7/19/14)
So I loaded up my save of the last chapter today and ran through it. My final party was Anime guy, Cowboy, Street Fighter, and Ninja. The final boss really was no match for the Cowboys gun attacks. He carried my team heavily. Hooray for ultimate procrastination.

Game 46: Dorito's Crash Course 2 - 2 Hours
(Started 5/8/13 / Finished 7/20/14)
I wasn't the biggest fan of the star collecting but the stages were much better here. I like that you race against AIs, the slide jumps were fun, and who doesn't love walljumping? A lot of odd powerups that are never explained though and boy that unlock system is bad.

Game 47: The Wolf Among Us Episode 2: Smoke And Mirrors - 2 Hours
(Started 7/22/14 / Finished 7/22/14)
This episode really wasn't as good as the first but it was in no way a Back to The Future Episode 2 waste of time. Smoke and Mirrors is a good chapter that tries to force some things towards the end. A couple of great Holy hell moments though.

Game 48: Worms - 10 Hours
(Started 6/14/08 / Finished 7/23/14)
Started this back up a few days ago and got thru challenge 19 which stonewalled me from completing this back in 2008. Challenge 20 came down to sudden death 1 worm vs 1 worm with 1 health each. The AI had the higher ground so I had one shot to make. I fired my bazooka...but it was too low. AND THEN IT BOUNCED OFF THE WATER RIGHT INTO THE AI WORM'S FACE. Game completed. :O

Game 49: The Secret of Monkey Island Special Edition - 12 Hours
(Started 7/22/09 / Finished 7/23/14)
Ignore my embarrassing total playtime! I took a nap while the game was on so that's what I'm left with. I started this originally as a refresher to play the second game and just lost interest in it 5 years back. Its a good remake but probably not a game I'd recommend playing twice in a lifetime.

Game 50: Kirby's Return to Dreamland - 10 Hours
(Started 10/30/11 / Finished 7/25/14)
So if it weren't for Triple Deluxe I honestly might have not come back to this. My problem with this game is how boring the Ultimate Powers are handled especially compared to the brilliance of Triple Deluxe. Otherwise its a good game, and its ashame I can only play as Kirby in single player

Game 51: Wario Ware: Smooth Moves - 2 Hours
(Started 7/25/14 / Finished 7/25/14)
I actually started this some amount of years ago but ragequitted. Today I sat down and played through this and it really isn't too terrible. It's not great since waggle is not precise at all, and The Waiter pose activates if it feels like it but some of the stuff is kinda fun or silly.

Game 52: Pokemon Black 2 - 31 Hours, 55 Minutes
(Started 4/5/14 / Finished 7/28/14)
So this game was not as good as the first Black/White game. The final battle of the first was epicness, this was not. Team Plasma's role was confusing and seemed pointless. The leader of Team Plasma was even more confusing. The Elite 4 and Champion? Barely put up a fight. Interested to try the World Gym Leader Tournament thing but that's it. Party was :Samurott, Ampharos, Lucario, Mandibuzz, Gothitelle, Magmortar.

Updating as of March 1.

Game 1: Starbound (~20 hrs) - I was really hooked on the exploration aspects of this game when the year started, but I've pretty much resigned to waiting until the full game is released at this point. I love it a lot, but I'd rather not burn out on it before the full game is released. Pros and cons of the early access system I suppose.

Game 2: Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance (Completed ~15 hrs) - Amazing game with some of the most ridiculous moments out there. There's not a ton of depth with the core mechanics here but they're definitely enjoyable relative to the length of the game. The soundtrack completely delivered on the hype too. And goddamn if that Senator Armstrong fight wasn't the most perfect final boss fight for this game. RULES OF NATURE.

Game 3: The Banner Saga (Finished ~9 hrs) One of the bleakest and depressing games out there. I applaud the game's audacity to quickly kill characters without much warning or time to realize what just happened. The core mechanics are a bit too simple though, and I found myself pretty tired of them towards the end. Still, I enjoyed the combat and the text heavy story, and I'm eagerly anticipating the next chapter.

Game 4: Broken Age (Act 1) (Finished ~5 hrs) - Charming and fun as hell. I've never been a huge Double Fine guy, but they really nailed it with this game. It accurately captures the endearing and fun parts that Double Fine normally gets right without putting annoying or boring gameplay mechanics to clog things up. Can't wait for Act 2.

Game 5: Fire Emblem Awakening (Finished ~50 hrs) - I hadn't quite finished completely in time for GOTY lists and whatnot but after going back and doing the extra spotpass paralogues and starting a new game I think I would have to move it to the top of my list. Definitely one of my favorite handheld games of all time, although I still think I prefer FE7.

Game 6: Banished (~7 hrs) - As a city builder, Banished is lacking in depth and building/customization options. As a survival game it's a fun little challenge to fight through the harsh winters and other obstacles that come up. I wish there was more to the game, but there's enough there to hold my attention for at least a few more hours.

Game 7: Inazuma Eleven (~5hrs) - The intro of this game is a pain in the ass without special moves, but now that I'm over that hump I'm enjoying the soccer matches and customization of my team. Looking forward to spending much more time with this.

Game 8: Shin Megami Tensei IV (~10 hrs) - Amazing game from top to bottom. I've never played a mainline SMT game before but this is really grabbing me. I love the presentation, combat, and dark story that's keeping me hooked without getting too obtuse (so far). I just reached Tokyo and I'm constantly playing more pretty much everyday.

A game a week? Shit man. I would love to but sadly I don't have that kind of time. Is there a medium level 26 games a year challenge? lol

Game 1: Guacamelee! - 10 hours (Finished)

Just finished the game (Jan 6th). First game of the year. It's a really good game with funny and charismatic characters, a simple but deep combat system and some really good platforming sections here and there. You can go finish this game in 6 or 7 hours, reaching 100% will take at least double that time but I think it's an "easy" challenge compared with other games herculean tasks. Will try to get 100% before the end of the year.

Game 1: LIMBO - 2 hours (Finished)

Really short game but a satisfying experience. Simple puzzles that demand good timing and execution. I like the fact that you imagine your own story and give life to the events and settings that surround your experience.

With my current Backlog and only completing 52 games a year it would take me around 16 years to finish all of my unplayed games... What the hell have I done!?

The duration on some of these is off, but oh well!

Game 1: Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance - 27 hours
# Not a biggest fan of the game, I don't like the block/parry whatever mechanic, and since the whole game is built around that, eh. Rules of Nature can only carry it so far.
Game 2: Assassin's Creed: Liberation HD - 21 hours
# Decent enough for a pocket sized adventure that was liberated from its handheld prison.
Game 3: Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag - 53 hours
# It's alright, but I miss big cities.
Game 4: Demon's Souls - 79 hours
# That fucking Pure Bladestone.
Game 5: Hexcells - 4.3 hours
# Pretty good puzzler, minesweeper on crack.
Game 6: Hexcells Plus - 15.7 hours
# Minesweeper on crack PLUS.
Game 7: Castlevania: Lords of Shadow Mirror of Fate HD - 17 hours
# It's alright.
Game 8: Fez - 7.8 hours
# It's so nice I played it twice. Once on 360 when it came out, and again on PC.
Game 9: Batman: Arkham City GOTY - 41 hours
# The best Arkham game.
Game 10: Batman: Arkham Origins + Cold Cold Heart - 74 hours!? That can't be right.
# The worst Arkham game. Still pretty decent.
Game 11: Dark Souls 2 - 91 hours (beaten, but DLC left)
# I'm a Souls man.
Game 12: Broken Age Act 1 - 4 hours or so
# Charming, but not difficult.
Game 13: You Have to Win the Game - 1.5 hours
# It's alright. Also free.
Game 14: Murdered: Soul Suspect - 15.7 hours
# Better than I expected.
Game 15: VVVVVV - 8.5 hours (this might be two playthroughs)
# It's great. Excellent soundtrack too.
Game 16: Bioshock Infinite: Burial At Sea DLC - ??? hours
# I liked it.
Game 17: Stranded - 1.7 hours
# 1.7 hours is too long for this shitty game.
Game 18: Shovel Knight - 15.7 hours
# Glorious!
Game 19: Lili: Child of Geos - 10.1 hours
# Charming but there's very little game there.
Game 20: Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 - 34 hours
# It's alright, if uneven.
Game 21: Guacamelee! STCE - 13.8 hours
# Still great. Triple dip.
Game 22: PAC-MAN Championship Edition DX+ - 1.9 hours
# Free week on Steam, got my pac man fix there.
Game 23: Hexcells Infinite - 15.4 hours
# Good stuff.
Game 24: Shadow of Mordor - 31 hours
# It's fun. More Arkham then Assassin's.
Game 25: 6180 the moon - 1 hour 30 minutes
# Neat little puzzley platformer
Game 26: Speedball 2 HD - 6.1 hours
# It's okay. But they don't have the Speedball 2 music in there. For shame.
Game 27: Dreamfall Chapters: Book 1 - 10 hours
# Pretty good so far, but practically no puzzles.
Game 28: Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishments - 15.2 hours
# It's quite good.
Game 29: NAME - DURATION PLAYED
# INSERT INFO AND COMMENTS HERE

Ongoing games that I will most likely finish one way or another before the year ends:
Transistor, I'm not sure I like it but I'll finish it.
Lyne, kind of boring so far.
Half minute hero, cute, but doesn't feel like the gimmick lasts.
Type: Rider, it's probably short.
Cognition: An Erica Reed Thriller, two episodes in.

Unhonorable mentions
Peggle Deluxe - 46 minutes. Done with this, hate it.
Where's my Heart, looks better than it is.
Bridge Constructor, neat idea but eh. Don't have the patience for it.

Decided to do this because I'm forever wondering what game to play and end up playing none. I have a huge backlog of games, retail and PSPlus. I'm also very guilty of never completing games - so trying to complete 52 in a year when I've been averaging perhaps 2 a year for the past 5 years is going to be.... interesting :)

Game 1 - PS3 - Catherine
Started 30/12/13 / Played 23 hours / Finished 1/1/14
Really fun game, I happily recommend it. It had been sitting in my backlog for half a year, I actually got the game mixed up with something else which was the reason I put off playing it. I wont forget this game in a while!

Game 2 - PS3 - DmC
Started 1/1/14 / Played 9 hours / Finished 1/1/14
I think its good. I'm not the biggest DMC fan but I have played every game. I struggle seeing it as a DMC game but Ninja Theory are obviously a very talented studio. This was my second time completing the game, first was on PC last year.

Game 3 - PS3 - The Last Of Us
Started 9/1/14 / Played 13 hours / Finished 12/1/14
I wasn't enjoying the game up to what is probably 1/3 of the way through however it really picked up for me soon after that. I really enjoyed my last 8 hours or so playing this game and my overall feeling upon completing it is that it is an excellent experience. The scenes and dialogue in this game are just right in my opinion. Its not trying to be 100mph all out action, it is gritty - and its not trying to be too cool, something a lot of games fail at. Production value is really through the roof for a PS3 game, they squeezed a lot out of the console. Very impressed, I'm glad to have played this game.

Game 4 - PS3 - Shadows Of The Damned
Started 17/1/14 / Played roughly 10 hours / Finished 20/1/14
Hello strange RE4/Grindhouse type game! I have so many games in my backlog that I'm not even sure what half of them really are. My eyes lit up when I saw Shinji Mikami's name as the title rolled. I enjoyed the game but felt it was a little rushed and could have used a little more time being polished/optimized. However it scratched an itch I had for a solid 3PS game with the trader/weapon upgrade system! What with this and Catherine so far, its a good job I'm playing these games in private. :)

Game 5 - PS3 - Nier
Started 22/1/14 / Played 33 hours / Finished 29/1/14
Not sure what to say about this game, I feel quite indifferent about it. I can see why some people really like it but it didn't do much to excite me. I enjoyed what felt like a shout out to RE and classic platforming at points, the game really is like a mishmash of different things. Its another unique game I'm sure, so I'm glad for that as I feel like I've played a few of those during this challenge so far.

Game 6 - PS3 - Grand Theft Auto 5
Started 2/1/14 / Played 36 hours / Finished 2/2/14
I told myself I wasn't going to buy it, but caved and pre-ordered a few days before release. Only just got around to playing it this year, bar the first couple of missions which I tried on launch day. Love the map in comparison to the fourth game, it is so much better. Wasn't sure if I liked having 3 main characters for a big chunk of the game but came round to the idea in the end, I think I prefer it. Cool voice acting in this game, very impressive stuff.

Game 7 - PS3/Vita - Spelunky
Started 3/2/14 / Played/ Finished

Game 8 - PS4 - Assassins Creed 4: Black Flag
Started 20/12/13 / Played 40 odd hours / Finished 7/2/14
Man am I glad to be done with this game. Most of the enjoyment I got from this game was down to the visual presentation and rating every mission with 3 stars. I didn't think I would go back to it, I was at memory sequence 4 at the start of the year. Its just not my thing, but I can see why others would like it. For me its just too easy and repetitive and I find Ubisofts work on the games characters to actually take appeal away from the game. Its just not my thing and I sense this series is actually holding Ubisoft back from creating something better.. Slight U-turn here maybe, the game is good but its boring to me. I'm trying to be fair.

Game 9 - PC - Broken Sword 5, The Serpents Curse
Started 13/02/14 / Played Roughly 8 hours / Finished 16/02/14
Really good to play an old school Broken Sword game again. I must have played through the original Broken Sword at least 5 times in the past. Thoroughly enjoyed it and looking forward to the next chapter!

Game 10 - PC -
Started 16/02/14 / Played / Finished

Htown

STOP SHITTING ON MY MOTHER'S HEADSTONE
Game 1: Guacamelee - 9 Hours, Finished 01/02
Fantastic action-focused Metroidvania. It looks like I got the bad ending, so I might pick this up again.

Game 2: Sine Mora - 1.5 Hours, Finished 01/11
Sidescrolling shooter with a really weird story involving time travel that I don't think I actually understand.

Game 2: Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons - DURATION PLAYED

Game 1: Tearaway (January 2nd)
Absolutely loved the game. It was amazing. I could not be happier with my experience. It brought the tears and made me feel a way a game has never made me feel before. Hats off to Media Molecule.

Game 2: Guacamelee (January 15th)
I had beaten the game already but finally went back and gotten the platinum for it. Such a solid game. I just ended up going back and got 100% on all the DLC too. Hooray for total completion.

Game 3: Beyond: Two Souls ((January 18th)
The visuals were very good. The beginning was great and it started off strong. Some parts do fall flat and others really hit the nail on the head but the second half has kind of fell apart. In David Cage fashion it got a little too out there for me, to be expected, and the actual gameplay part lost it's fun. It got pretty repetitive. I enjoyed it as a whole. It was a good rent.

Game 3: Killzone: Shadow Fall (January 28th)
I enjoyed it for the most part. It was pretty different for most FPS's. The gunplay was good. I like the OWL and your characters abilities. There were some cool areas and scenes put it didn't really grab me. I never really cared about things all that much. It was basically just kill because kill. I liked the concept and it had a nice set up. It just didn't really deliver on what it could have. A lot of scenes had really good atmosphere.

Game 4: NFS Rivals
Really enjoyed this game. It looks great. The way they set it up was fun. Having a big bank of SP and being afraid of losing it all made for some pretty tense moments. I like how they were able to make getting caught by the cops or wrecking actually mean something to me. Playing as a racer was definitely more rewarding though. It's fun being a cop but it doesn't capture the feeling I had as a racer. The grind to level 60 is pretty tiresome too. Almost have the plat

Game 5: The Walking Dead (January 20th)
I had beat the main story but just now got around to finishing up the 400 days of summer and getting the 100% completion. It was fun. I wish I had gotten it on PS3 instead of vita. There are a lot of little hiccups and now Season 2 isn't on vita yet. I think I'm just going to get it on PS3 instead.

Game 6: Resistance: Burning Skies (January 20th)
I finally went back to this game and got the plat for it. It was a pretty meh game. I enjoyed it when I first got it pre Killzone: Mercenary. I thought it was so cool playing a FPS and it's multiplayer on the go. It'd be pretty cool if it had been a fully fleshed out game that was really optimized for the vita. This game just felt lazy

Game 7: Battlefield 4 (February 4th)
Getting the plat was a pain. I lost my save twice so I had to play through the game 3 times. That was 3 times to many.

Game 8: Knack (February 28th)
I wasn't sure about this game because of the less than great reviews but I had a lot of fun with it. It was challanging and I kept wanting to play one more section and one more section. The story was mediocre. I really hope this game gets a sequel.

Game 9: Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag (March 10th)
Had a lot of fun with this game. Never really liked any of the of AC games but this one really got me. I fancy being a pirate. Still trying to grind out the plat. Im at 80%

Game 10: Strider (March 16th)
Took me about 8 hours. This game really grew on me. At first I thought it was pretty meh but as I progressed it started getting really fun. I'm working on the plat and trying to beat it on hard, which is the difficulty this game should be played at. Normal was way too easy.

Game 11: Outlast (Match 18th)
Played this game with the lights off and headphones on. Holy crap. It wasn't scary just insanely stressful. I don't think I've ever been so stressed out playing a game. I was genuinely happy to have beaten it just so I'd be done with it. I'd like to get the rest of the trophies but I don't know if I have it in me.

Game 12: LEGO Marvel (In progress)
This is going to take awhile. I'm playing this one with the lady and we don't get much time for it. We're maybe half way through. Such a fun game.

Game 13: Raymand Legends (In progress)
Playijng this one with the lady too. We're almost done. This game is addicting. I'm trying to get the leaderboard trophy where you have to beat your friends score 30 times. It's the first time I've actually cared about leaderboards and it makes it a lot more fun.

Game 14: Dead Nation (In progress)
Fun little game. Was playing it with a buddy but he started playing with somebody else so I'm just trying to do it solo. Then I'll get the lady to beat it with me.

Alright, count me in!

Game 1: Super Punch-Out!! - Minor Circuit Down
Playing on the Gamecube (Via Fight Night Round 2) in beautiful 480p via component, it looks gorgeous for an SNES game. Like wow.
Minor Circuit - Fuck Piston Hurricane. Feels way too hard for the first circuit.

Game 2: Super Mario 64 - 31 Stars/Beaten 7/01
I decided to use speed running techniques to see if I could get to the final boss a little earlier and managed it. Helps me cross it off this list, but it's nice because I hadn't beaten the game in a while and it reminded me how good it was.

Game 3: Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean - 42 hours/Finished 9/01
Wow what an RPG. A bit cheesy, but gave me some very big LoD vibes. Certainly not recommended for everybody but I enjoyed it thoroughly.

Game 4: The Walking Dead: Season 1 (Vita) - Complete 14/01
I double dipped when this was $10 on Amazon. Honestly this port kind of sucks, but it was nice to be able to play it on the go.

Game 5: Portal (PC) - Complete 19/01
Never got to finishing the game before. Feel it's a little overrated, but was still enjoyable enough.

Game 6: League of Legends - Online Game
Played enough of this game this year now to justify shoving it on this list.

Game 7: Trigger Happy Havoc: Dangan Ronpa - Complete 13/02
Interesting game. I'd unfortunately been spoiled, but I still got a lot of enjoyment out of this one.

Game 8: Hearthstone - Online Game
Played enough of this to justify putting it on this list. Addicitive but has quite the barrier to entry and is kind of simple.

Game 9: Catherine (PS3) - Complete 20/03
What a neat game, wasn't expecting it to be so good, but it kind of blew me to pieces. Puzzles were great and it felt like the perfect Persona spin off even if it isn't.

Game 10: FFX HD (Vita) - Complete 07/04
Wowie, this is going in my top 10 RPGs for sure. Has that bizarre FF world going on but not limited by the constraints of PS1 hardware and the ATB battle system. Wonderful game.

Game 11: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D

Game 12: Rhythm Heaven Fever

Game 13: Star Fox 64 3D

Game 14: Kirby's Dreamland

Game 15: Baten Kaitos Origins

Game 16: Football Manager Classic 2014 (Vita)
Game is over 300 hours long, but I did manage to play a good 15 hours or so, and am thus counting it. Rose a league, will continue to play.

Game 17: Football Manager 2014 (PC)
To go with the Vita one

Game 18: MGS:GZ (PS4)

Game 19: MGS: GZ (Xbox One)
Yes I bought two copies.

Game 20: Demon Gaze

Game 21: Tomodachi Life
Got the credits and am still playing. Fun, weird.

Game 22: Fortune Street

Game 23: Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins
One of my childhood games. Was good to finally beat the final level on a physical copy.

Game 24: Metal Gear Rising (PS3)
WOW, such a great game. I'm upset I didn't buy it at launch

Game 25: Child of Light (Vita)
Another brilliant game. Fantastic RPG. Love it.

I am in. Only completed 40 games last year, so this should help me bump that number up to 52:

Game 1: NES Remix
# Just starting this now. As a huge lover of retro gaming, Im sure I will love this.

There's no way I'm going to be able to do this. I don't have the time. But I'll try to catalog the games I do complete and see how close I can get.

I started it off today by playing through Ico for the first time.

Game Title and Date Completed
1)ICO 1.1.2014 - Good game, not sure it's worth the hype. Best thing about it is I can now finally get to Shadow of the Colossus with a clean conscience.
2) Super Mario Land 2: The 6 Golden Coins 1.4.2014 - Short game, and extremely easy until you get to the last level where I lost something like 70 lives. I didn't use save states.
3) Infamous 2 1.5.2014 Really loved this game. Best Infamous game in my opinion.
4) Assassin's Creed 3 1.25.2014 Was never deterred by all the hate this game gets. I love the time period. I suppose it isn't as fun as some of the other games in the series.
5) Infamous: Festival of Blood 2.1.2014 Kind of a let down after how much I liked Infamous 2. It takes away all the good powers you get in the game and only replaces it with one.
6) DuckTales Remastered 2.1.2014 I would have finished this game last year but I died over and over on the last part of the game after finishing the last fight. Finally persevered.
7) FarCry 3 2.8.2014 Terrific game, really surprised how much I liked this and how into it I got!
8) Mass Effect 3.9.2014 Had started this years ago on the 360. Got the collection on PS3 and started over, which was the right call because I would have been totally lost. I really enjoyed it, there were some serious glitches that I think are basically confined to the PS3 version and I can overlook them.
9) Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeros 3.18.2014 - Not sure this should even count. So short, but I did finish all the side missions...
10) Rayman Legends: 3.23.2014 Pretty disappointing after the brilliance of Origins. Hated that they repeated so many levels and got rid of the difficult stages. Replacing them with the Murray levels was a major downgrade, those levels are probably fun on a WiiU with co-op but not fun by yourself on a different system.

11) Killzone: Shadowfall 5.23.2014 Like most of us, I bought the game to have something to play on my PS4. Like most of us I was very under-whelmed. I forced myself to finish it so I could dump it off on Target during their triple trade in sale.
12) Titanfall 6.26.2014 Really enjoyed this game. Bought it originally on the 360 and then was able to trade it basically straight up for the XB1 version when I got that system.
13) Little Big Planet Vita 7.1.2014 Really fun and enjoyable game. Probably my favorite of the LBP games. My only gripe is that it felt like the tutorials went on WAY too long, I was barely out of them by the time I beat the game. Probably because it felt the need to introduce new mechanics every world and walk us through them.
14) Infamous: Second Son 7.28.2014 The game was okay. I still prefer Infamous 2 as my favorite Infamous game. It felt deeper with the powers you could get. This game was so short too.
15) The Wolf Among Us 8.4.2014 - This game started out incredible. The cliffhangers at the end of the first two chapters! Wow! But neither cliffhanger was really followed up the way momentum suggested it would and the game ran out of cliffhangers. Kind of fizzles at the end. Still enjoyable, I say this as a major fan of the comics.
16) Shovel Knight 8.17.2014 This might be my game of the year right now. Incredibly fun game. It had a good challenge to it, though the further you got into the game, the less the challenge got as your healthbar gets to high, and you have two potions that can refill your health. There probably should have been a high cost to those so you couldn't just keep going back to the trout and getting a refill. Even with that I still died 92 times, most of that at the last 4 stages.
17) Borderlands - 8-23-2014 I've been playing this with friends all year and we finally knocked it out last week. Pretty fun game, nothing mind-blowing, but a solid co-op experience. I'm not sure I'll ever play 2 or the Pre Sequal, but who knows.

Let's do this. Starting off with something that might seem ambitious if not for the fact that I started it in April of 2012

Game 1: Xenoblade Chronicles
Started April 2012 - Beaten 1/13/2014 - 191 hours played

Enormous game with a fantastically realized world and a myriad of well designed systems woven together by an enjoyable tale, pleasantly cheesy dialogue, and likeable characters. The cherry on top is the real time combat, which, while a bit mindless, never feels like it bogs down play. I'm afraid I got bit by the sidequest bug, however. If not for this I would likely have finished this game months ago.
End of game update: Decided to skip some of the content made available right at the end of the game, but still ended up way overpowered for the end of the story due to attempting to complete almost everything. The story offered a fantastically satisfying finale. The ramp up was actually sort of unexpected. I had never thought the game would take the story to the scale it did. The animation of some of the cutscenes also really impressed me. At times I felt like I was watching anime action scenes, which is more than I had expected from this one. If I had one complaint about this game, it is that the very late game optional content brings new challenges and new mechanics (and new relevance to old mechanics) that the rest of the game could've benefitted from. I would've liked to see some of these elements introduced much earlier. Apart from that... fantastic. I am so pumped for X.

Game 2: Metro: 2033
Started December 2012 - Beaten 1/15/2014 - 13 hours played

So I started this game almost as long ago as I did Xenoblade, but have much less excuse for not having finished it earlier. It is not NEARLY so hilariously long and my PC definitely didn't break in the middle of my playthrough. Metro's atmosphere is absolutely fantastic. Its shooting is tight, it looked pretty damn good, and even though I only played on Hardcore and not one of the Ranger difficulties, I found it punishingly difficult. You really can't soak up many hits in this one. The bullet economy was a an interesting narrative twist, but not very mechanically significant. It just meant that I would occasionally fire money from my weapon accidentally. I'm looking forward to Last Light, which a friend picked up for me during the steam sale, but will take a break from the darkness of the Moscow Metro for the time being, I think. I'll return before too long, though.

Game 3: The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
Started 1/14/2014 - Beaten 1/17/2014 - 22 hours played

I've been meaning to 'replay' this for a while now. I knew I'd played it some time during my childhood, but didn't remember much. When A Link Between Worlds came out, I decided I had to play through ALttP again before I could unwrap my copy of the newest Zelda. It's been delayed until now as I was playing through Windwaker until recently. After playing LttP for about 5 hours, I became quite certain that somewhere along the way, I'd convinced myself I'd played it, but I never ever had. This was an entirely new experience to me, and it was a fantastic game. I had one or two gripes... magic meter refills were exceedingly rare; combat felt a little weird with constant swinging preventing you from turning and with monsters just standing right on top of you after they'd hit you; some parts of the game required you to have items that I didn't even know existed, nevermind their locations. But overall it was an absolutely fantastic Zelda experience that I feel so lucky to be able to look at with fresh eyes so many years after its release. I am looking forward to being able to compare it directly to ALBW without a hint of nostalgia.

Game 4: The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds
Started 1/17/2014 - Beaten 1/21/2014 - 24 hours played

My somewhat belated playthrough of this one was much enjoyed. My understanding is I took a little longer than most finding all the bits spread across the world, but I have no idea where the excess time went. There didn't seem to be a bit of fat in this Zelda game. Despite my enjoyment of A Link to the Past, it gave me in comparison an enormous appreciation of the way ALBW benefits from the experience and technology behind it. Everything about this game was so unbelievably enjoyable. The combat was responsive and immediate, the world bursting with colour and animation, the soundtrack done so much justice by the 3DS' modern sound capabilities (put through a set of speakers or a headset.) I can also say that playing a 2D Zelda game built for analog controls was a brilliant experience long overdue. Before the announcement of ALBW, I was very excited for another 3D Zelda on the 3DS. Now I'm not so sure I don't just want more of this. Some will find ALBW suffers from easier dungeons, and easier combat by the way of a greater toolkit. Personally, I didn't mind either. The game was just such a joy to play that it may have been easy, but never dull. I look forward to playing Hero Mode at some point, but I don't know when that will be.

Game 5: Crysis 3
Started 1/21/2014 - Beaten 1/23/2014 - 11 hours played

A shooter is nothing without guns, and Crysis 3's sci fi setting gives it license to invent some cool guns. These games have never been that hard. You're just given too much power for it to be very challenging. That said, there's something oddly satisfying about its combined use of weapons, customization, and superhuman suit-granted abilities. As always, the Crytek has created a very pretty game. The facial detail and animation in particular is quite impressive. The story was nothing to write home about, but it was a serviceable story for a nice relaxed shooting experience.

Game 6: Mass Effect 3
Started 1/24/2014 - Beaten 2/5/2014 - 66 hours played

This is my second time through this circus, both times with the same character, but my first time with all the DLC. It's my first time touching the single player experience, actually, since I went back and saw the Extended Cut ending when it was released. The first time I played through I simply couldn't wait to be finished so I could go back and do it all again. Then I got to that ending... Even after Extended Cut was released, the experience was soured. After two years though, it was time to give the finale in this, my most beloved series, and a second shake, and I'm very happy I did. From beginning to end, ME3 was such a gloriously worthy final chapter. There were still a couple shortcomings, most notably the game's propensity for auto-dialogue during minor conversations, but the game does such an amazingly good job of reuniting the player with beloved characters, and resolving conflicts and character arcs in the most satisfying ways. The success of the DLC at addressing fan concerns following the release of the game is also not to be under-emphasized. The players wanted explanation, understanding, and background, and they got it in the form of Leviathan and EC. They wanted a joyful last reunion with their squadmates (their happy ending) and they got it with the ridiculously fan servicey Citadel. Omega was the weakest of the paid DLC offerings, but it did a fine job of tying one more character's loose ends. With all of its DLC, Mass Effect 3 is a behemoth experience, but every moment is a pleasure. I'd like to think I'll come back and play through this fantastic game, as well as the rest of the series again, with my ME3 ready femshep or a whole new character, but I don't know when that'll be. As it is, with two runs through the campaign and over 300 hours in multiplayer, I've definitely gotten my money's worth. Til next we meet, Mass Effect.

Game 7: Antichamber
Started 2/19/2014 - Beaten 2/20/2014 - 11 hours played

Really trippy, cool, engaging, and compact puzzle game. Reminded me a lot of Fez from a first person perspective.

Game 8: Dust: An Elysian Tail
Started 2/21/2014 - Beaten 3/8/2014 - 20 hours played

Neat beat 'em up/ARPG/metroidvania or what have you. Very well put together. The gameplay got a little repetitive and some parts of the platforming drove me bonkers but on the whole I very much enjoyed it!

Game 9: Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons
Started 3/15/2014 - Beaten 3/16/2014 - 3 hours played

I never really got very fluid with controlling two characters simultaneously, but the game didn't really last long enough to wear out its welcome. Not that it was bad. The gimmick was neat, and the story, told without written or vocalized narrative, was a touching one. Fun game, neat premise.

Game 10: Gunpoint
Started 3/16/2014 - Beaten 3/18/2014 - 13 hours played

The soundtrack, the writing, the puzzle solving elements of the gameplay, the comedy, the action. The soundtrack. Seriously, this game oozed a fantastic atmosphere. I loved the demo and enjoyed the full game even more. It never got particularly hard, but always remained rewarding. Hearing that the game's developer was so unexpectedly successful from this project that he was able to embrace game design full time was very gratifying. I'm excited to see what cames from Mr. Francis next.

Game 11: Cook, Serve, Delicious!
Started 3/13/2014 - Beaten 3/21/2014 - 35 hours played

I don't often play management sims. This was a neat one off for me, and I certainly got my fill. The steady ramp up of complexity in orders and increasingly high pressure of serving more customers made for quite the difficulty curve, but the awesome unlocks and the progress of the restaurant was carrot enough to keep me going on and on right up til the end. I even hung around long enough to grind out the last couple of ludicrously lengthy achievements, which made for slightly less involved, good mutlitasking play while I watched TV.

Game 12: God of War II
Started 3/18/2014 - Beaten 3/31/2014 - 18 hours played

I enjoyed this, but I wasn't amazed by it. I've come to this party very late, and while the God of War series has had a tremendous influence on the genre in the years since the first two games, having played those successors before playing this, I just wasn't particularly floored by either of them. I enjoyed it well enough, but I haven't got any particular compliments or complaints for this one. It was all just sort of... blandly as expected. What I will say is that I was pleased not to have to deal with the pain in the ass platforming section that we had in God of War 1. That alone made it a tremendous improvement upon the original.

Game 13: Batman: Arkham Origins
Started 3/31/2014 - Beaten 4/6/2014 - 40 hours played

I have a huge affection for the Arkham games, but this one didn't really catch my eye early on. Blame it on the developer change, blame it on the seemingly unambitious premise, blame it on the lukewarm reception, but I was willing to wait on this one. Glad I got around to it though. I had a couple of issues with bugs and crashes, and found the changes to combat a bit jarring, but I found it to have some of the most enjoyable writing and best boss fights in the series thus far. All things considered, I think this one was well handled by the new developer. I don't think they quite filled Rocksteady's shoes, but they came damn close.

Game 14: Alan Wake
Started 1/8/2013 - Beaten 4/9/2014 - 28 hours played

Remedy does good work, and while Alan Wake did not end up being the best game of theirs that I started in 2013, I did really enjoy it. I picked this one up briefly last year, before putting it on a very long hold. I don't do well with spooky, but managed to forge my way through this one with the help of a friend's prodding. The narrative premise and the twist on the traditional shooter mechanics were neat, but the former had more longevity than the latter. Despite some neat weaponization of flare guns and flash bangs, at some point the repetitive enemies stopped being fun to fight. Despite my minor complaints, the story made this one a real pleasure to see to the end, with a couple of fantastic high points in particular that will stay with me for a while.

Game 15: Thirty Flights of Loving
Started 4/10/2014 - Beaten 4/10/2014 - Like 13 mintues played?

I almost feel bad putting this one on the list next to behemoths like Xenoblade, but fuck it. A game is a game, and I saw this one through from beginning to end. Short as it was, Thirty Flights of Loving was a neat little experiment with narrative and storytelling that took the words 'Brevity is the soul of wit' to heart. Weird as it was, I enjoyed it. 7/10 would play through again during a commercial break some time.

Game 16: Beyond: Two Souls
Started 11/14/2013 - Beaten 4/11/2014 - 20 hours played

Fantastic looking game. Clunky in terms of gameplay at times. Reminded me of The Walking Dead, in terms of narrative vs gameplay balance. Unlike The Walking Dead, this one pays more than lip service to player choice. Unlike The Walking Dead, this one feels too big to replay for the time being. Willem Dafoe, Ellen Page, and others give great performances. Despite this, I don't think I'll be picking up Heavy Rain. My understanding is that this was the better of the two, and it's just not my sort of game.

Game 17: Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater
Started 4/9/2014 - Beaten 4/13/2014 - 25 hours played

Hadn't played an MGS before 2013. I enjoyed 1 and 2. This one buried both of them. It was so fantastic, it's hard to pick out specifics to compliment. The improvements to the formula in gameplay, the twists in the relationship between Snake and The Boss, the awesome soundtrack all took this title so much further than its predecessors. The Snake Eater theme in particular captured the games essence so well that I think there are few songs that are so well suited to their games. As both a part of the series, and as a self contained story, Metal Gear Solid 3 is phenomenal. This one alone could have single handedly justified my PS3.

Game 18: Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots
Started 4/14/2014 - Beaten 4/16/2014 - 24 hours played

Despite its cinematic heavy style, the indulgent writing, and the ridiculous poop jokes, I really enjoyed this one. I don't think it quite outshone Metal Gear Solid 3, but it tied the entire series together far better than I'd expected possible. The awesome set pieces were fantastic and it was a further outstanding revision of the series' gameplay. It had some very inventive, very cool bosses and an expansive range of awesome weapons and tools allowing for a diverse range of play. Kojima's series is quie a fantastic collection, and enjoyed these mainline games from start to finish.

Game 19: Sonic the Hedgehog
Started 4/21/2014 - Beaten 4/21/2014 - 8 hours played

I'd never played these classic platformers. I was always a Nintendo kid. I'm starting to feel glad for that. I can see the appeal, but the combination of super speed and sidescrolling platformer never worked very well in my mind, and it didn't play out well for me here either. It seems like to take advantage of that speed, the game rewards rote memorization over actual moment to moment gameplay. Still, glad I went back to see what the fuss was about. And following this one very shortly will be Sonic 2.

Game 20: Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker
Started 4/17/2014 - Beaten 4/26/2014 - 32 hours played

I had to constantly remind myself that I was playing a port of a PSP title on this one. Not that I was ever in real danger of forgetting... but I was in constant danger of judging it too harshly. It's an interesting twist on the series, and the breaking down of a Metal Gear game into tiny bite sized chunks encouraged a whole lot more replay from me. I started actually giving a care about going for those S ranks, playing through this. For what it was, which was both a portable title and very experimental, I have to give it points, as it turned out pretty well. Still, not my favourite in the series.

Game 21: Sonic the Hedgehog 2
Started 4/24/2014 - Beaten 4/29/2014 - 9 hours played

I liked it better than the last, but still not nearly so well as other 2D platformers from the era. I think my Sonic dabbling ends here for the time being.

Game 22: Bioshock Infinite: Burial at Sea
Started 5/3/2014 - Beaten 5/4/2014 - 9 hours played

Technically a pair of DLC episodes, and not stand alones, so I'm cheating a bit here, but they were together lengthy enough, weighty enough, and different enough from the core game that I thought they deserved a mention. The second one in particular was very well done and quite the conclusion to the Bioshock saga. The way it tied this science fiction loop up in a neat little bow may have seemed contrived to some, but I felt it perfectly genre appropriate. The return to rapture and the opportunity to play as Elizabeth were both real treats. Though short, I got these on a bargain and they were well worth the price of admission.

Game 23: Saints Row IV
Started 4/17/2014 - Beaten 5/8/2014 - 21 hours played

Got to play through this one with the same co-op partner as I played Saints the Third with. Was a real blast, though more so because of who I was playing with than because of the game itself. I like collectibles in my open world but this one at times felt like a bit much. Ah, well. Neat rehash of a fun game with a lot of riffing on all that is or has ever been popular in video games. Also a fairly brief play experience, as far as open worlds go. Weird that I'm sort of of two minds about its length.

Game 24: The Last Story
Started 5/4/2014 - Beaten 5/9/2014 - 38 hours played

Neat JRPG. Incredible end of game difficulty curve. Messed up UI aspect ratio. I'd had this one witting around for almost two years so it was high time. I have since missed out on any opportunity to play the multiplayer, with the shutdown of the Wii online service, but I had fun with the story mode. Thanks, Mistwalker and XSEED.

Game 25: Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars
Started 1/19/2013 - Beaten 5/10/2014 - 18 hours played

Had played this classic back when it first came out, but never gotten through it. Now I have. Honestly, the dungeon spelunking in this one and the random encounters wore on me. And that's all I have to say about that.

Game 26: Sound Shapes
Started 8/26/2014 - Beaten 5/12/2014 - 4 hours played

Cool rhythm, platformer. The uniuque visual design and everything making a sound worked really at times, and more poorly at others. I especially enjoyed Beck's "Cities."

Game 27: Wonderful 101
Started 9/17/2014 - Beaten 5/13/2014 - 19 hours played

I had a hard time getting in to this one but it was well worth it. I'm not a big character action fan, but this game was just such pure unadulterated fun. The build up towards the grand finale especially so. I never got particularly good at the various combat systems, and actually enjoyed the meandering gameplay that visited so many other variations of play that others found detracted from the core. The theme of the Wonderful Ones was fantastic. Nintendo and Platinum produced a winner, even if not a commercial one.

Game 28: Uncharted: Golden Abyss
Started 5/13/2014 - Beaten 5/18/2014 - 13 hours played

Had a lot of fun with this one, and was genuinely impressed by its visuals. It's my first Vita game and I was impressed by the capabilities of the system. I particularly enjoyed the way the collectathon worked in this one. My one real complaint with it was the heavy reliance on swipe QTE's, especially in boss fights. It got really obnoxious with a couple parts near the end of the game. Besides that, great handheld shooter.

Game 29: Bravely Default
Started 2/5/2014 - Beaten 5/20/2014 - 127 hours played

This was a big one. I actually really enjoyed it. The fact that I'd had the mid-game twist ruined for me may have made the repetition in the last four chapters a bit easier to swallow. I really enjoyed the flexibility of the class system in this one. Boss fights towards the end of the game got so hard as to seem initially impossible, until you figured out ways to work with the classes and abilities to negate the various threats. The game was also made infinitely more palatable by fast forward, auto battle, and random encounter scaling. Brilliant features that I would love to see more of in similar games.

Game 30: Batman: Arkham Asylum GOTY Edition
Started 5/21/2014 - Beaten 5/23/2014 - 20 hours played

Love this game. This is actually my third time playing it. The GOTY edition getting given to all owners of non-GOTY edition on theme was all the excuse I needed to replay it and 100% it again. In fact, it's almost as good as...

Game 31: Batman: Arkham City GOTY Edition
Started 5/23/2014 - Beaten 5/25/2014 - 34 hours played

This one. I love it even more. Man, I can't wait for Arkham Knight.

Game 32: LEGO Batman 2
Started 5/26/2014 - Beaten 5/31/2014 - 52 hours played

Oh boy. I still wanted more Batman after finishing City so I thought getting through this one might be a good time. Honestly though, playing Lego Batman after Arkham is kiiind of a letdown. Still, pretty good open world Lego game. Just not the next Arkham fix I need.

Game 33: Senran Kagura Burst
Started 11/14/2013 - Beaten 6/4/2013- 20 hours played

Cheesy game built mostly around titillation. I really wish this could have had more going on upstairs. It just wasn't as engaging in terms of its beat 'em up gameplay as I'd hoped. It was brought down even more by its unfortunate framerate. Still, not a total loss. The cheesy story and endearing 'friendship overcomes all' theme made it palatable enough to play as a brain-dead time waster.

Game 34: Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Blacklist
Started 6/14/2014 - Beaten 6/16/2014 - 25 hours played

Haven't played a Splinter Cell game before, but really enjoyed it. Was a little rough at first getting used to the way it played, but I absolutely loved the idea of giving the player three different ways to approach the game. The incentive to commit to one style or another had its advantages and disadvantages, but I really appreciated it letting you choose how much of a stealth game you wanted it to be.

Game 35: Metal Gear Sold V: Ground Zeroes
Started 6/16/2014 - Beaten 6/16/2014 - 4 hours played

I was pretty impressed by how well Ground Zeroes played on PS3, and by how well it controlled. I'm glad I didn't pay full price for it, but it's got me really excited for The Phantom Pain. Short, but sweet.

Game 36: Gravity Rush
Started 6/9/2014 - Beaten 6/18/14 - 22 hours played

Less visually impressive than Golden Abyss, but I really liked the mechanics. The fusion of traditional, touch, and gyro controls worked surprisingly well. Cool game.

Game 37: Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon
Started 6/20/2014 - Beaten 6/21/2014 - 14 hours played

The colours, Duke. Such a great send up of all things 80's. I honestly feel like I could've just played this and got pretty much everything I needed to out of the Far Cry 3 formula, though. Oooh Ubisoft. All your games play the same way.

Game 38: Call of Juarez: Gunslinger
Started 6/22/2014 - Beaten 6/22/2014 - 5 hours played

Not as much fun as Blood Dragon, but still a pretty fun shooter. The bullet time is starting to feel a little old, but I'm terrible at these so I'll abuse it into the ground. Neat story-telling mechanics, but all in all it just felt very by the numbers.

Finished the game on January 1st
After playing 999, it was pretty much a given that I would eventually play this game. I'm so glad I did and I got so much enjoyment out of following the flowchart which made the experience of jumping between story threads that much more fun. Having to replay portions of 999 is what took away some of the freshness of the experience, but in this game you are almost constantly being exposed to new content. Great story with lots of twists and turns and much more solid puzzle experience than the one had in 999.

Game #2 - Guacamelee PS Vita 5 hours
Finished the game January 11th.
I played this game through to completion on a few bus rides between my home and my university. Considering I have a two hour bus ride every day I made quick work of this gem. The combat system was simple yet felt rewarding, and the game map was of a perfect size which made it easier going back after collectables. The colored block system could have been a little more inspiring, but it serves it's purpose and was transferred to the combat system in an intuitive way. The placement of the stick when doing the blue attack often screwed up the yellow one, though. (Those of you who played it most probably know what I mean.) Got this game through PS Plus.

Game #3 - Ghost Trick iPhone 11 hours
Finished the game January 20th.
What a tearjerker. Being a fan of the Ace Attorney series it was inevitable that I would play this, but after just having finished it, I can't believe I didn't do so sooner. I actually have the DS-game in it's original packaging since it's release and haven't even inserted the cart into my DS. Eventually bought it on iOS and I've been playing it on and off throughout January, when suddenly I decided to finish it by playing through the last 6 chapters in two days. What a memorable cast! The music is catchy and the story is great. Some of the time-based puzzles felt a little harsh with it's trial and error, but overall the experience was unforgettable. Casting this as an iPhone game only worked in the games favor as you never miss the lack of physical buttons. I only wish more of these types of games were released on iOS.

Game #4 - Gunman Clive Nintendo 3DS 53 minutes
Finished the game January 23rd
This one went by in a flash, but had enough time to introduce a myriad of different platforming concepts with inspiration clearly taken from games such as Mario, Mega Man, Donkey Kong etc. I actually wish more time was spent on some of the concepts which could have easily doubled the amount of play time. Nonetheless, great platforming and enjoyable bosses. I'll probably run through it again on Hard.

Game #5 - Brothers Playstation 3 3 hours
Finished the game January 24th
Short and sweet experience with an interesting albeit simple control scheme. Besides the beautiful landscapes and creatures it was a rather run of the mill experience though. Lot of times you just held the stick(s) forward and waited as the characters ran and jumped from point A to B. Had some touching moments. It was good, but not great.

Game #6 - Fire Emblem: Awakening Nintendo 3DS 34 Hours
Finished the game February 1st
This is the first Fire Emblem game I have ever played beyond the introductory stages. It was fun and I especially enjoyed the social elements of it. The story was pretty standard and the gameplay did everything I expected it to. I kinda regret not playing it on Hard as it got kinda repetitive at the end as I pushed through the last 10 chapters without breaking a sweat. Started a new play through on Hard, but I don't think I'll be coming back to it just yet.

Game #7 - Sleeping Dogs Playstation 3 15 Hours
Finished the game on February 15th. If there is one thing I'll remember from this game, it's the atmosphere. The streets felt very much alive and buzzing, more so than GTA V. The combat felt very satisfying and gunplay wasn't that bad either. The story was rather forgettable, though it had some memorable sections. Did some of the extra missions but I don't feel like I'm missing out by ignoring the rest of them. Overall I'm glad I saw it through to the end.

Game #8 - Super Mario 3D World Wii U 27 hours
Finished the game on February 23rd.
Thoroughly enjoyed this game, but I'm still not too keen on the isometric perspective. Made some of the jumps far harder than they should have been. And to be honest I actually finished the game and saw the credits back in November, but I finally went back and did all the extra worlds as well. Only have a handful of green stars/stamps left. The later stages was awesome and I would love to have more of those. Makes me want to see what a modder could possibly make if one had access to the right tools.

Game #9 - Infamous: Second Son Playstation 4 15 hours
Finished the game on March 28th.
Fun but ultimately very shallow game. Good showcase for next generation graphics and offered some interesting ways to take down enemies. I liked all the powers and felt they were distinctive enough to warrant their existence. Traversing the city felt rewarding, I just wish they'd had spent more time making the districts more distinct and varied. Played through 100% on the evil path and I will most probably go back for a hero playthrough later.

Yeah, I'm In.

Game #1: Castlestorm COMPLETED 4/1/14: 5 Hrs. (Wii U Version)

Pretty good game that has no shame in ripping off Age of War(Flash Game). Probably could have finished around 4 hours, but the game chucked on a bit at the end. Worth £7.99. Haven't tried the online, but i can see it working well, it's a pretty good Tower Defense Esque game.

Game #2: Streets of Rage 3D Completed 5/1/14. 3Hrs. (3DS Version)

It's Streets of Rage. The 3D is nice but having it on the go is awesome. Bosses are still overpowered.

Game #3: Devil's Attorney Completed 12/1/14.(iOS)

Great little game for 69p i think. 52 cases overall and it's basically a turn based RPG. Fully voice acted and very funny. Glad i picked it up.

Game #4: Peggle 2 Completed 18/1/14 (XB1)

Quite a short game and not as good as the original, but it's Peggle so it's fun!

Game #5: Pokemon X 30 Hours. Completed 26/1/14. (3DS Version)

First lengthy game i suppose. First one for me since Diamond. Pretty good, still prefer the originals for obvious reasons.

Game #6: Battlefield 4 4 hours. Completed 4/1/14 (XB1)

Pretty short and extremely buggy. Not that much fun. Generally was awful. Worst thing i've played through in a while. Glad i rented it.

Game #?: Mass Effect (Still in progress)

About six hours in, fighting the Thorian.

Game #?: Lego Marvel Superheroes.(Wii U and XB1) (In Progress)

Beaten the story but only 30% completion. Lots to go :(

I'm in.

Game 1: I Have No Mouth, And I Must Scream - 7~9 hours, finished January 1 - PC
Not a happy game for starting the New Year. AM's voice is gorgeous. Some of the ending was walkthrough worthy to me.

Game 2: The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing - 11 hours, finished January 8 - PC
I honestly don't know why I bought (ok, it was the Steam sale) and started this game, since I'd finished Torchlight II shortly before and hated it. Had never played Diablo etc. prior to that, but after Torchlight I knew this wasn't the genre for me. Anyway, I liked the theme, music and art were also fine. Story was way above the nothingness of Torchlight too. But just not my type of game, ran through it to end it ASAP. Also it turned out it is to be continued. So I won't see how this story ends.

Game 3: Cook, Serve, Delicious! - 27 hours, finished January 12 - PC
I wasted a lot of time on this little restaurant sim! But it was pretty great, that's why. I might still occasionally play it on my iPad. As it isn't a story-driven game, with a clear end, I just got all the upgrades that didn't involve a number of times requirement. I also didn't do all the dating because for some reason the game wouldn't throw enough at me... or maybe I was supposed to date people successfully, but they were all crazy anyway. After the last restaurant upgrade one gets a permanent boost to the restaurant's popularity, which made it pretty impossible for me to have a relaxing day, so I'm moving on.

Game 4: Lord of the Rings: War in the North - 15 hours, finished January 12 - PC
Got this in the Humble Bundle some time ago, and would have probably never played it. However, now I did, co-op with a friend, and it's probably the only way the game would be really enjoyable. It's not really a bad game, it's just sort of meh overall (probably, unless you're a Tolkien fan, because I read it's really good then). But it looked good, and the co-op is nice.

Game 5: Borderlands - 52 hours, finished January 21 - PC
Yes, the first part. I finally finish this on PC after dropping it 5 or so times on PS3. And I think I'm going to finish Uncharted and Red Dead Redemption on consoles and stick to KB/M aside from that. I haven't really played shooters for any substantial period after.. Doom, but it was nice and way too addicting. Felt burned out mid-DLC though, so I'm calling it a day and might never see the robot revolution. DLC was too much running and walking around.

Game 6: Sam & Max Save the World a.k.a. Season 1 - 15 hours, finished January 25 - PC
Two out of six episodes were somewhere in Summer 2013, but then I sort of forgot about it. I actually quite like the jokes and the overall writing. Puzzles can be just a bit too random at times, but those times are rare. What I like least is how slow everyone walks!
Overall it's a franchise I will finish, although I'm not in a terrible hurry. I briefly considered counting each episode separately, but frankly not doing so seems like a good enough motivation to play en bloc, and everything has been out for ages anyway.

Game 7: Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons - 3.7 hours, finished January 26, PC
It was completely all right. I can understand why it got all the praise, and I hope there is more like it coming, but this game per se was a bit easy. I would still like to replay it on a bigger screen though, I think it will feel better.

Game 8: Portal - 6 hours, finished January 29, PC
It's one of those games I've meant to play for ages. Enjoyed the puzzles a fair bit and at least now I can get the references.

Game 9: Resident Evil 5 - 16 hours, finished January 31, PC
Played co-op with a friend who's a big fan of it as a shooter. So he knew where everything was, when it was happening and how. That's what probably lead to a very unexciting experience overall. We played mainly for the co-op though, and for that it was a good game.

Game 10: Uncharted: Drake's Fortune - 16 hours, finished February 25, PS3
First shooter I've finished with a controller. I'm very split on this game. For ages I got nowhere with it due to death on boat at the start, and so abandoned the while thing. I finally switched to easy a couple of months ago, and managed to move to the following chapters, but I generally got annoyed with it pretty quickly and played a chapter a week or so. I felt like playing it again once it was finally over, but I doubt I'll get to that any time soon.
It's very pretty of course, and I loved the music too. Still, it wasn't enjoyable mostly because I suck at the controls, but the bite-sized cliched story bits with n+1 enemies in between really aren't that special either.
I will likely pick up the second game at some point still.

Game 11: Tales of Graces f - 51 hours, finished March 2, PS3
It should be just Tales of Graces, minus the f, because I stopped playing shortly after clearing the main game, and I don't see me going back 4 months later to play more of it. As usual with Tales of games, I go in with some mediocre battle skills because I never spent too much time trying to master an awful lot of it. So, with mediocre effort comes mediocre appreciation, and while I know it's lauded as the best Tales of battle system, all I can say about it is that I enjoyed it. The story, surprisingly, didn't bother me much, and I don't think it deviates a lot in quality from the rest of Tales of. The music was awful, all 30 unique seconds of it.
Well, I ought to get started on Xillia at some point.

Game 12: The Secret World - 30-40-50??? hours, finished somewhere in March, PC
Okay, this is a MMO, so there is no end for it, but I got in a couple dozen of hours, finished the first large story arc, and lost interest (or at the very least, enthusiasm) for the time being. Not knowing if and when I'm going back to it, I'll be writing it off as finished. I still have it on my PC, just because it's 30GB and was a pain to patch.
I had been avoiding MMOs ever since I lost so much time of my life with Ragnarok Online, but The Secret World was indeed fairly different from what else I had tried. It's theme park, but it has a lot of good lore (or, masterfully stitched lore) that was enjoyable to read through and find references in, so that's a plus. On the other hand the battle system is clunky and not really enjoyable despite the relative freedom of skills to acquire.
I might go back to it one day, but after a couple of months of hiatus, I don't really feel any pull.

Game 13: Long Live the Queen - 2 hours, finished June 26, PC
One of the games that gets famous during the Steam sales, so I decided to give it a try. Played through 4-5 deaths and clearing the game, and then promptly deleted it. I enjoyed the bits I played through quite a bit actually, but I was getting annoyed by the end. Overall it seems like a game I'd prefer on mobile, so that I can play it on the subway and never have the opportunity to get annoyed due to playing it for more than quarter of an hour.
Going for more endings would have required using a guide or keeping detailed records, neither of which I wanted to bother with.

Game 14: Borderlands 2 - 80ish hours (~130 by now), finished July 7, PC
I liked the first one, and I like this one too, although it seems to have more rubbish loot. Also, as with the first one, I soloed the first playthrough, and in my opinion this is in no way a game particularly better in multiplayer. Sure, it can be better, but it will depend mainly on the people, not on the game being designed around it. Which suits me fine.
I'd probably be done with it by now, because I don't even fancy too much going through the next few modes, but I've picked a MP game with a new character and having a Mechromancer is quite fun (after spending both the first game and this one with the soldier/commando class).

Game 15: The Typing of The Dead: Overkill - 7 hours, finished July 9, PC
Love this so much! I suck at it, because I can't touch type for real although it's been on my to learn list for ages. It's still on my hdd though, and I've been going through the regular House of the Dead: Overkill game, and occasionally through a typing level.
I need more parody games.

Game 16: The Walking Dead: Season 1 + 400 Days DLC - 14 hours, finished July 18, PC
I moderately enjoyed this, enough to decide to play the second season (when the last episode comes out). After finishing the game though, I checked a wiki, mostly to confirm my suspicions, and the whole tailored to player's decisions thing is fairly bleh and very short-term, or, worse, just a statistic.

Game 17: Tomb Raider - 19 hours, finished August 1, PC
I have no Lara Croft nostalgia to speak of (have only played one game, pre-first-reboot), and I didn't mind this being a Lara Croft Uncharted. I can't really compare to Uncharted's experience due to me sucking at aiming with a controller and hence having great difficulty enjoying it on a console. So this was sort of a new experience in that it was overall very, very enjoyable. Story and Lara's character were also enjoyable and nicely handled. Other characters not so much, but there were just too many of them.
I actually didn't care much for Lara turning badass so quickly, which is something that seems to bother many. If anything the challenges and collectables is what bugged me, as they have nothing to do with the survival and are just a waste of time. The documents contributed to the story at least, but the rest was ridiculous. And I suppose the tombs weren't much to shout about.

Game 18: The Wolf Among Us - 8 hours, finished August 2, PC
It was sort of off at the beginning, maybe I went in with some expectations a la Grimm. By the second episode it had started feeling nice and engaging. Hopefully they will bring out a second season, though as many have expressed, playing as episodes come out seems like a huge pain, and the way to go about it is buy on a sale when it's all out. It also surprised me how short this turned out to be compared with The Walking Dead.

Game 19: The Witcher 2 - 30ish hours, finished August 18, PC
This was my third attempt at this game and it finally stuck, albeit on easy mode and taking very few side quests, especially of the do-this-n-times variety. I was a lot more bored irl when I played the first one, so I did pretty much everything there, and maybe it's just the nostalgia, but I liked pretty much everything bar the graphics better. I did like the second game's story well enough, but I could barely bring myself to care for any of the characters. Also I hated getting a door slammed in my face 90% of the time I was following someone, and things like the menus, the map, the wheel-switch thing... half of the controls sucked with kb/m, half of them sucked with a controller, so yeah, kind of glad I'm done with it.

Game 20: Final Fantasy XIII - 54 hours, finished August 18, PS3
I decided to replay this mainly to celebrate my new Panny plasma, and yes, it looks really good. Another reason was that I first played it in Japanese, in my 2nd year of Japanese studies, and I liked it then. The story seemed kind of garbled and unexplained, but at the time I assumed it was all me not understanding everything in the dialogue. I sort of suspected, later on, that that hadn't been the case, but whatever. Well, this time I once again refused to read wall of text logs. With 2 or so years of watching almost no anime I discovered that now I have very low tolerance for the characters, and that, yes, the story is stupid and not really there. I meant to do more of the quests, but that went south pretty fast too.

Game 21: The Blackwell Legacy - 4 hours, finished August 21, PC
This was shorter than I expected, but it was a nice story with characters to match. I'm starting on the next one soon. Sort of glad it's not overloaded with stuff in the inventory and a lot of places to click, because to me finally discovering how to get unstuck in these games gets progressively less satisfying the crazier the logic behind the solution gets.
The aged look took about half an hour for me to start liking it, but what I really wish the game had are better sound controls, as in a slider for the BGM. It got too loud at times, or maybe that's just my receiver setup.

Game 21.5: Saints Row 2 - 9 hours, dropped, PC
I'm just going to put this here for the record's sake, but I don't see myself finishing it. The game being a crap port wasn't much of a problem since I got the mods to fix it, but I simply can't get into it. The story is supposed to get good, but I don't care for the settings and the characters, the whole gangsta thing turns me off, the driving is crap. The missions are supposed to be funny, but they are entertaining at best, for a couple of minutes. Well, since I've never played any GTA or similar, this was a shot in the dark and I guess it's just not my thing.

Game 22: The Walking Dead: Season Two - 8 hours, finished August 27, PC
I'm enjoying the series but it really doesn't run very deep as far as story goes. Generally there is a bit too much melodrama for my liking, with conflicts between characters never getting resolved as much as going for plain death and moving on. I also pretty much hate introducing a baby or a toddler in such a story, it's such a lazy must-protect presence. As for choices, after the first season I scaled down my expectations not to hope for many really meaningful consequences, so I'm just going through the story as it is.
On the plus side, I enjoyed playing as Clementine, she's a nicely done kid character, which is rare (admittedly most of them are just painful sidekicks, be she was done well in season 1 as well). Her choices also seemed more varied, as little as it seems to matter in the grand scheme of things.

Game 23: Broken Age: Act 1 - 5 hours, finished August 31, PC
Bought this over the Christmas sale and completely forgot it's still not complete. So I was already a couple of hours in when I realized this. That was the only disappointing thing about it. Apparently it was a pretty big deal of mismanaged funds on kickstarter. Act 2 seems to be getting there slowly.
The game itself is ridiculously charming, well-written and nicely witty. I might go into playing more point-and-click games to get this more often, frankly. It's probably too easy for people who've played a lot in the genre, but I can count the ones I've played on my fingers still. Replayability might actually be an option here, albeit maybe at least a year down the line, just for the sake of getting more of the same.

Game 24: Assassin's Creed - 20~30 hours, finished September 2, PC
I remember playing this and the second one for a couple of hours from borrowed discs on the PS3, but decided to return them since I was going so slowly through them. I do intend to catch up on the main titles in the series on PC now though (possibly without III).
As for this first one, I loved the parkour, the atmosphere and actually assassinating. Which is why I went a bit heavy handed in the guards in the second half. The chases gave a good adrenaline rush and I ended up doing most of the missions (but didn't bother with the collectibles). It was incredibly repetitive, so it still took me more than a week to go through the game. It feels very nice for a while and then it's blah until the next day.
Big WTF at the final gameplay, my hands hurt at the end of it from all the utterly-not-assassinations, so that ended on a pretty sour note. Having to drag my feet to go unnoticed was a bit irritating too (I think the PC version had less obligatory riding in the Kingdom, luckily).

Game 25: 140 - ~1 hour according to HLTB, finished September 4, PC
Not sure about the playtime, I spent way too long alt-tabbed being annoyed at failing before going back. It's a minimalistic rhythm precision platflormer of sorts and I got myself into it on purpose, these games are a challenge for me. The frequent checkpoints were the reason I managed to get though it (although half of the achievements are for going without them, but that's not something I'd even consider attempting). With only 3 levels it's a pretty short game, each game ends with a boss, of which the last stage of the last one is damn annoying. Finishing it does give satisfaction though, and it's a game that works well with the rhythm.

Game 26: Blackwell Unbound - 3 hours, finished September 6, PC
Back for the second game in the series, and I'd rank it pretty equally with the first one. The characters are fun to be around, getting stuck for a long time doesn't seem very likely.

Game 27: Blackwell Convergence - 2 hours, finished September 25, PC
Sort of disappointed with this one, shorter than the preceding ones and way too easy. There were challenges (as in achievements) to move on with the story in a particularly good way, but I would have preferred something that actually moved the story. Then the story itself seems more about setting the scene for the following games.

Game 28: Assassin's Creed 2 - 27 hours, finished October 2, PC
I'm really glad I gave this series a try, because I'm really enjoying it. Also, can't believe how well it looks even with my crappy video card. A bonus for me was that I could switch to Italian, I discovered it after the first 3-4 hours, and it made things even better.
Still not a fan of the collectibles, so feathers and treasures were only about halfway done by the end of it. I might have done feathers if there were a map for them, an as for treasures, there was a map but then again I had half a million from the villa, opening boxes for 100-500 wasn't very rewarding, not to mention I didn't have anything to use the money on anyway.
Glad that I had the deluxe edition with the two chapters that were originally missing, Bonfire of the Vanities was equally frustrating and awesome.

Game 29: Sam & Max Beyond Time and Space (aka Season 2) - 15 hours, finished October 2, PC
The middle episodes were my favourite ones, but overall the whole thing was really enjoyable. It's not something I can marathon through though, I started the first chapter somewhere mid-September. I actually appreciated the hints, moving in this game is still kind of slow and I hate going back and forth being lost.

Game 30: The Blackwell Deception - 6 hours, finished October 10, PC
Very enjoyable, not as short as the previous one even with the (godsend) ability to walk faster. The story is shaping up really nicely and maybe I won't end for a sale for the last one.

Game 31: Gone Home - 1.5 hours, finished October 11, PC
Not sure what I was expecting. I knew about the the walking simulator fame, but nothing outside of that. It started very underwhelming, then stayed at a fairly consisting serviceable level and concluded well.

Game 32: KAMI - 5 hours, finished October 11, PC
Nice puzzle game, I would have probably appreciated it more on the go, but sneaking in some minutes here and there was doable enough on a pc. There is a challenge in quite a few of the puzzles if one goes for the perfect score, a simple clear for most is pretty much success at first try trivial.

Game 33: Cinders - 3 hours, finished October 18, PC
I had to go look through my mail to see where I got this game in the first place, turns out it was in a Humble Bundle at some point. It's a visual novel on an alternate Cinderella story and attempts a more nuanced portrayal of the tale's characters. As it goes with these games, it's reasonable fun to play through once, and then getting to other endings is just furious clicking to skip dialogue. Must be said that this game has some built in convenience for scrolling through text though, which makes it easier to just enjoy.

Game 34: Bioshock Infinite - 15 hours, finished October 24, PC
I still haven't played the first two Bioshock games, which I might catch up on soon, since I liked Infinite. While I didn't like the two weapons restriction, most of that feeling comes from the game's achievements (I don't really like shaping my gaming to meet them, but I can't seem to be able to completely ignore them either).
Game world and story are really good, and also really well executed, visuals are a treat to look at and I did choose this game also for the presence of color.
Skipping DLC for now, I think I'll get to it after replaying the game once I've been through the series first.

Game 35: The Last Door - 4 hours, finished October 30, PC
Great atmosphere and a good story seems to be developing. The biggest disappointment was this turning out to be Season 1, and this information is far from immediately obvious. I would have preferred some some smaller pixels, to be quite honest, and the whole retro look isn't something I'm all too fond of, but it's a small budget game as well, and it can be said that to a degree the look works for it.

Game 36: Assassin's Creed Brotherhood - 27 hours, finished December 10, PC
I'm a bit on the fence about this one as it was supposed to be counting towards the still-good Assassin's Creed games, and I have fairly mixed feelings about it. Maybe it's just franchise exhaustion as I have gone through I and II in the last couple of months as well. So while the collectathon has been there right from the start for the series, Brotherhood just throws in too many additional things that make me feel my game is incomplete. Full synchronization, minion contracts, expanding the economy from a villa to all of Rome. It's a time sink that doesn't bring much of a reward. I still liked the main story though, and the larger quests. I'm going to give myself a couple of months before Revelations though, and see how it goes from there.

Game 37: Blackwell Epiphany - 8 hours, finished December 24, PC
Good length and more difficult than the last couple of games, and a decent ending of the story. Going to miss the characters in this series.

Game 38: Dragon Age: Origins + DLC - 54 hours, finished December 30, PC
I attempted this one sometime in January, and quit after two hours of my very boring ginger rogue. Not coming from old school cRPGs, the combat as melee was way too messy in action and I didn't find myself a fan of pausing all the time. So for my second try I made a mage and things were much better with that, played largely without pausing too much except in boss fights. Story was bleh but the game was enjoyable enough. Regretting not using mods, but I was already in the endgame when I found a list of some very good ones. So I had to put up with the ugly hats. Didn't do romances during the game and when I loaded some saves and did 3 out of 4 after beating it they all seemed awkward and shallow. I meant to play this as a prelude to Inquisition, but I actually feel too burnt out on the medieval fantasy world and questing, so likely not anytime too soon.

Game 1: Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons - 5 Hours
Finished this a few days ago. Overall, I think I was a little underwhelmed. I appreciate the control scheme for the story that was being told, and this story actually resonated with me quite a bit. However, I found the game part of brother to be exceptionally boring. The puzzles were simple and required very little thought, the jumping and swing is all automatic or contextual-style controls (making it way too easy). The game required very little thought and once you've solved the 'puzzles' it basically holds your hand the rest of the way. Good story, looks good, but not a great game. Just...a game. I am genuinely shocked that this is on some peoples top 10 lists. Just because of the control scheme/storyline payoff?

Game 2: The Wolf Among Us Season 1 Chapter 1 - 2.5 Hours
I loved this game. This is a genuine surprise to me, since I really didn't like The Walking Dead. I am playing on 360, so there were still technical hiccups but there were far fewer than TWD. Additionally, I find zombies/end-of-the-world themes to be tiring, and this is a much more refreshing story. I think another reason I liked The Wolf Among Us more than the previous game was because I stopped thinking of this as a 'game' in the traditional sense. Sometimes when I am not in the mood to play something, I will watch a TV show: The Wolf Among Us replaced that. By thinking of it as interactive entertainment, I found myself much more engrossed and had a much better time, rather than resenting an experience that feels incomplete. Overall, I highly recommend it and I think I will be grabbing the season pass and possibly buying a few Fables comics.

Game 3: The Saboteur - 18 Hours
I wrote an LTTP on this game after I beat it: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=751508

Game 4: Trials Evolution - 15 Hours
I enjoyed it, but I don't think it is God's gift to video games like many others treat it. It was entertaining traversing the various difficulty tracks, and the specialty maps are a great change of pace. I love how your driver gets destroyed after every single map. However, certain very-difficult sections of the Extreme maps got frusturating, and not in a good way. I'm sure many of you know that someone is never truly 'finished' with Trials, but I consider it out of my backlog because I finished the single player campaign. I can still see myself picking it up now and then to play a custom map or two.

Game 5: Crysis - 11 Hours
This game still looks amazing (even on Xbox 360). Probably some of the best level design in any FPS, as it brings me back to when these games were much more open and weren't just corridor shooters. The stealth mechanics and suit powers were are a nice change of pace, as I loved stalking my 'prey' by jumping from bush to bush. I played on hard difficulty rather than delta, but in hindsight, I probably should have gone all the way since it wasn't that hard.
However, what in the heck happened at the end. I knew from the beginning that aliens were a big part of the story line, but they literally destroyed the gameplay. This game was like a 9/10 for me until they introduced the aliens, and it became a modern day Duke Nukem. I have the second Crysis sitting on my shelf, but now I'm worried the game has gone in a direction I don't want to follow. I really hope 2 (and 3) focus primarily on the human/nansuit encounters, and that the alien fighting is kept to a minimum. This is the worst case of a developer ruining their own game at the last minute that I've ever seen. When you add in the end, it's probably a 7/10.

Game 6: Gears of War 3 - 14 Hours
This is my co-op game that I play when my buddy comes over, and we played it bit by bit over the past 5 weeks. I worked through the first 2 Gears with the same guy, so this has become routine for us. Of the 3 games, I found this one to be the most disjointed and boring story wise. It jumped all over the place, with us changing characters every act, and I felt particularly bad for my friend since he had 4 or 5 different characters across the entire campaign (he was in the 2nd chair). The game was decent, but not as entertaining as the other 2 in the series, and I found myself getting bored much more frequently. It was tough sitting down for long sessions since I felt bored quicker than usual. On the bright side, the boss battles were much tougher, more epic, and much more rewarding. Overall, it was an okay experience but one that I don't want to repeat. I definitely wont be playing Gears Judgement with how I felt after this one (and how poorly that one was received).

Game 7: Forza Motorsport 4 - 40 hours
This one took a while to finish. I played in 2-4 hour spurts and in between other game sessions. It was a good game to pick up when I was on the phone and didn't require full attention (or volume). Overall it was a decent game. The audio is great, and the game is gorgeous for an Xbox 360 title. The cars all felt very different and distinct, and the driving throughout was amazing. As good as this was, I think I've had my racing fix for a while now, and will probably skip Forza 5. The game modes were varied, but felt very repetitive, and making money was a complete grind. After 40 hours of gameplay, 10 season of racing, 50+ driver levels, onlines races, and a few cars sold, and I never had more than 5 million credits. I saved all my money and I still couldn't afford some of the expensive cards...after all the time. I may give Forza Horizon 2 a shot when it comes out.

Game 8: The Witcher 2 - 30 hours
I loved it, I loved it, I loved it. The gameplay, the graphics & art style, the story, the music and voice acting, the adult themes: It was all incredible. I am one of those people that didn't play the first Witcher game, but now I wish I had. I love the lore and I can see myself going out and buying the novels. The Witcher 3 has gone from being a pretty-looking next-gen game to a must-buy for me. Additionally, I will probably go back and play The Witcher 2 again.
I love how your choices seem to make a distinct difference on the experience. I sided with Iorveth, so that was my act 2 experience. I also let pretty much everyone live (Letho, Sile, all the trolls, etc). I want to try a 180 and go the other way.
This game is a must for all fans of the genre.

Game 9: Dishonored - 18 Hours
Great game. I took my time with it, and I probably could have easily beaten it 5 hours quicker. Finished it with low chaos, and did my best to be stealthy/nonlethal. The game had great pacing, and the verticality of the level design made it so much fun to play with. The early game feels a little slow and boring, but it becomes much more complex, unique, and rewarding when you have unlocked a few of the different powers. I typically took the high ground whenever possible, and I primarily used the blink and time stop abilities
. By far, my favorite level was the dinner party one. I felt like a bad ass walking around without anyone knowing who I was, and I felt so slick knocking the lady out in the piano room, freezing time, and blinking down to the basement without anyone noticing.
Might go back in the future to try high chaos. Played this on the 360, so the textures and graphics overall looked like shit but that didn't detract from the experience. So much fun!

Game 10: Call of Juarez: Gunslinger - 7 Hours
Fun game that I enjoyed playing in between other gaming sessions. Graphics were nice, and I like the 'story telling' mechanic and how the story teller would correct himself. Decent game I purchased on the cheap, but I don't understand how a handful of people had it in their GOTY. The shooting felt okay, not great, the difficulty scaling just made it into a COD/cover experience, and I feel like the story telling mechanic just wasn't utilized to it's full potential. This was a great idea, a decent game, but it under delivered IMO. Good for the price though.

Game 11: NCAA Football 2010 - 16 Hours
Standard football game. Didn't expect much since I bought the older version for very cheap, but this was just my excuse to get my Georgia Bulldog fix.

Game 12: Halo 3 - 11 Hours
Great game! Played all the way through the campaign co-op with my friend. I've played Halo 1 & 2 campaigns + online, and I have played Halo 4 campaign + coop. I need to go back and work my way through Halo 3, ODST, and Reach, but I've got to say, this campaign was just tops. This felt less linear than Halo 4, as this game made better use vertically in almost every level. We played it through legendary, and it was just difficult enough. Was a little tough having to relearn not having a sprint, but overall it was quick to adapt. I highly recommend it.

Game 13: Crackdown - 15 Hours
This is an example of the perfect pick-up-and-play game. If you've got 10 minutes or 2 hours, Crackdown works regardless. Low grav, big explosions, and almost zero consequences. It's like a very basic, arcade GTA game. I wish there were more cars and more of a variety of things to do, but after beating it, I am praying that MS announces Crackdown 3. How is Crackdown 2? I heard it's bad, but is it worth a play through?

Game 14: Prince of Persia (2008) - 15 Hours
The first thing I will say is that this game is beautiful! I can't believe it was made in 2008. It's a shame that the main hub world is grey for much of the game, because in full color, it rivals Journey in art style and graphics. As for the rest of the game: 'meh'. The platforming was repetive and janky, the battles were boring and easy to exploit, and the game had zero difficulty since you could never die. Great to look at, but I won't be replaying this ever again.

Game 15: Final Fantasy XIII-2 - 43 Hours
Although I enjoyed this game much more than the first one, I was entirely too burnt out on this series to complete everything. I prefered the smaller part size, since it was easier for me to get to know (and care) about the characters. While the time element seemed convoluted and overly complex, I found it much easier to follow that the garbage L'Cie stuff from 13. The story in general was handled much better in this game, and I didn't need to read hours of datalogs to understand what was happening. The time-map thing simplified the jumps between worlds and I still quite enjoy the paradigm-shifting battle system. The main bad thing I can say about this game is it's connection with the first one. This could have easily been a mainline Final Fantasy game on its own with Noel as the star. All they had to do was cycle out the original FF13 characters with new ones, and maybe pump in 5 hours of backstory gameplay in the beginning. I actually like lightning, but the 13 series being milked is ruining Square's legacy.

Game 16: Halo 3: ODST - 7 Hours
Far and away my least favorite Halo game. The only neat thing was the open-ish hub world where you had tons of freedom to walk around, and I like that it took place in a human city. Besides that, I hated the weapons, I hated the stupid visor enhancements that made 90% of the game look like TRON, I hated the health-pack system, and the story was pretty meh. Only character I liked was Nathan Fillion. Won't be going back.

Game 17: Rock Band Blitz - 10 Hours
Exactly what I was looking for in a controller-based rythm game. Easy to play and pick up, and very fun. I just wish there were more songs.

Game 18: Call of Duty: Black Ops - 15 Hours
Hated it. I've beaten all the CODs on Veteran difficulty. It isn't easy, but all the Modern Warfare's felt rather rewarding. This game did not. This game felt very cheap, unpolished, and senlessly cruel. It is a shame because I love the time period and conspiracy theory nonsense, but I couldn't enjoy it due to the bullshit. Example of bullshit (on veteran): I die, so I get dropped back at my last checkpoint. Turns out that checkpoint is in the middle of a firefight, and since you die in .5 seconds when you are exposed (on veteran), I die before my gun even loads. I am basically fighting against random number generation, waiting for the 1 time I load and I don't get killed immediately just so I can prone. Literally loaded a checkpoint 12 times before I could actually move. Almost had to start the level from the beginning. No more CODs for me.

Game 19: The Walking Dead Season 2: Episode 1 - 2 Hours
Good but not great. A few tense scenes, and it was nice seeing a bad ass Clem. Doesn't really connect to me like the first series (atleast, not yet), since I don't have anyone else to 'care' about. We'll see how it progresses though.

Game 20: Sleeping Dogs - 24 Hours
Easily one of my favorite open-world city games. Driving felt a little meh, but the parkour, hand-to-hand combat, and shooting all felt top notch. The story was entertaining (albiet, cliche and predictable), and the side-quests didn't feel like a chore. The city was small enough that driving from mission to mission wasn't that bad. I highly recommend!

Game 21: WWE Allstars - 13 Hours
So much fun. This game brings back all the fond memories I had playing WCW/NWO Revenge on N64. The arcadey gameplay just feels perfect for this type of game, and I am shocked that there isn't a sequel. I really wish this game had more modes, since the story mode feels half-baked and the lack of customizable multiplayer matches i glaring (ie. ladder match, tag cage match, royal rumble, etc).

Game 22: Halo Reach - 13 Hours
This game is in contention as my favorite Halo. Great story and huge maps that really make you feel as if you are fighting all over Reach. The graphics are gorgeous and I really wish I had played this when it first came out so I could really get into the multiplayer.
My favorite level was easily the one where you fly around in the ship taking out air defenses and periodically landing to enter/clear out buildings and save civilians. That level felt so massive and the chaos felt so real. Also, the final moments of this game are easily the most epic in the entire franchise. Such a bad ass sacrifice.
I fucking hated ODST, so this was a great follow-up to that game.

Game 23: Me and My Katamari - 4 Hours
Not much to say. Great game for those that love Katamari. Nothing really new or innovative, just more Katamari (which is exactly what I wanted).

Game 24: Far Cry 3 - 32 Hours
This game was so much fun! It reminded me a bunch of Crysis, with the stealth mechanics mixed with the jungle environment. I loved the open world, and jumping in and out of vehicles was a blast. I was genuinely surprised at how many drivables there actually were, although the physics/mechanics of them were nothing to write home about. Easily my favorite part was liberating outposts, especially after I had upgraded my knife fully. It's easy to feel unstoppable when you can stealth your way into a camp and, with the right timing, take down an outposts in 7 seconds with nothing but your knife. Love the chains. The hunting was so-so at best, since none of the animals had a distinct way they needed to be hunted. It basically amounted to hostile or not hostile, then how much of a bullet sponge are they. The skrillex set-piece is one of the best in gaming, even if the story sort of fell on its face half way through the game. Far Cry 4 preordered!

Game 25: Wanted:Weapons of Fate - 5 Hours
Detox game. Not much can be said about it. Neat mechanics as a bullet-curving cover-shooter, but overall very empty. The 'story' continues after movie, but it was hard to care about, and I just skipped cutscenes half way through. Definitely a C game.

Game 26: Lara Croft: Guardian of Light - 8 Hours
Played co-op with a friend. Tons of fun solving the puzzles and fighting the bosses, but once again it is an empty game. The story is garbage and the voice acting is horrendous, but the controls are tight and some of the puzzles are a little challenging. I would only recommend this if you've got a friend to coop with.

Game 27: Batman: Arkham City - 17 Hours
I'm one of the few that enjoyed this game more than Arkham Asylum. Soaring over the city was by-far the high point, and the voice acting and side-missions were top notch. The familiar battle system was there, but I somehow felt as if the game had gotten a little easier. I can't put my finger on why. The previous game was a little less fluid, so perhaps the engine's limitations are what I found difficult? Either way, I highly recommend this installment.

Game 28: Deadlight - 5 Hours
Cliche story and terrible platforming controls hidden behind a great artstyle. I hate playing a platformer that takes 3 seconds to 'respond' after I hit the jump button. The game completes the last animation before listening to your next control, and that animation can be something as dumb as taking a stride forward. I have been spoiled by other platformers, but I still do not recommend this one.

Game 29: Deus Ex: Human Revolution - 29 hours
I'm a sucker for sci-fi future games, and I love, love, LOVED this one. I loved the third-person cover mechanic, and I thoroughly enjoyed that I could upgrade my skills depending on my play style. Every mission felt like it had countless ways to attack it depending on which way you upgraded your skills. My only regret is I didn't get the talent that lets you punch people through walls (stealth for life). Great music and amazing atmosphere have me chomping at the bit for the next game. Hoping the gunplay is slightly improved in the next iteration.

Game 30: GTA V - 41 hours
I enjoyed this MUCH better than GTA IV. Even though the characters are less likable, the story was much more entertaining to play. The pacing in IV felt way too slow, repetitive, and boring, while this game largely fixed that. I really wish there were more 'heists', as those were easily the best missions I've ever played in a GTA game. I tried the online experience for 2 or 3 hours and I hated it. I don't understand how people can play countless hours online of a game with inferior combat. Sure it is improved over previous iterations, but using weapons in GTA still feels average at best. In a nutshell, loved the singleplayer, don't understand the love for multiplayer.

Game 31: Fez - 6 hours
One of the most praised indie games and...I just don't get it. The art style is great and the 2D to 3D world spin mechanic is clever and intuitive. Unfortunately, I found the puzzles to be entirely to difficult or way to easy.
Depth is added lazily through use of QR codes, or made so complex by creating a language that you need to interpret.
To be honest, this wouldn't even be a problem if the 'world-map' was easier to use or read. I would be at one end of a completed world, and see I need to spend 20 minutes going back through doors to get back to an area I need to complete. Basically, I think this was a great idea with alot going for it, but it feels like a 'first-time-out' experience and needs more work.

Game 32: NBA 2K11 - 42 hours
Well, it's basketball. Not much left to the imagination here, but it was MUCH more entertaining than I expected it to be. I got really into the 'My Player' mode, and loved trying to keep me grade up playing a well-rounded team game.

Game 33: Remember Me - 15 hours
This is the exact type of game atmosphere that suckers me in ever time. From the moment I saw Remember Me, I knew I had to play it, purely based on setting and art. I love the sci-fi dystopian future and I love the bright artstyle, with the frequent use of orange and white. I picked it up cheap and played it immediately. It was not incredible, but definitely enjoyable. Better than the reviews gave it credit for, but nothing to write home about. Pros: The combat is awesome. I love the customization of pressens, so you are constantly switching up your combos depending on whether you need to decrease cool downs, heal yourself, or do heavy damage. I wish this was a bit more fleshed out with more unique pressens, but it's a good start. Additionally, I love love loved the memory remixes. Easily the best part of the game, and the most underutilized mechanic. Way too few of these in the game. Along with this, the world was gorgeous and the graphics were great. Cons: The world feels lifeless. You can't interact with anyone in the environment, and they are all basically there as decoration. The platforming is garbage, and everything is a super tight corridor (so much so, that it actually negatively impacts the combat experience). The voice acting was pretty sad, and the story could have used some work. This game just screams 'rushed'. So many great ideas, but it feels like there wasn't enough time to flesh them out. Sad really, since a sequel would do wonders for this game but I doubt we get one.

Game 34: Halo: CE Anniversary - 18 hours
The classic and still the GOAT. So much fun playing this on coop. I forgot how good all of the weapons felt and how well-built all of the levels were. My only gripe is that it doesn't remember your checkpoints, so if you can't finish a chapter or if your Xbox crashes, you have to start at the beginning of the chapter. Infuriating when you are trying to beat it on Legendary, but beyond that, the perfect shooter.

Game 35: Nier - 20 hours
Fun game that was just the right length. I've read about the replayability, and it sounds incredibly interesting but with my massive backlog it wasn't really worth the time. Combat was fairly boring and repetitve, and the game world felt barren even though it also felt fairly small. Music was unreal, and I enjoyed the VO and characters.
The overarching story was great, and the big reveal at the end caught me off guard. Genuinely surprised and it reminded me of the movie 'The Island'. Having read everything about the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th playthroughs,
I doubt I will ever go back and play, but I highly recommend this game for JRPG fans looking for a short but decent game.

Game 36: The Wolf Among Us Season 1 Chapter 2 - 2 hours
Still love this series more than TWD, although my biggest issue with it is that the achievements don't unlock through natural progression, and some branch off at choices. Other than that though, great experience.
Dat little mermaid.

Game 37: Saint's Row The Third - 23 hours
Where has this game series been all my life. Loved this 10x more than any GTA game I have ever played. It's so refreshing how it doesn't take itself so seriously, gives you unreal upgrades and futuristic vehicles, and everything is rather affordable so it promotes uniqueness and customization. The only obvious downside is the reverse difficulty curve, with you being virtually a god by the end of the game, but I also sort-of loved that. It's nice getting the payoff of invincibility for all your hard work. Saints 4 is now a must-play.

Game 38: Skyrim - 138 hours
Having put 138 hours into this game, this feels sort of funny to say: This game was just 'alright'. Dungeons and combat got repetitive and boring (other than the larger quest lines), and after all that time I still felt no connection to the characters. The biggest draw for me is the world, as it is the one true 'character' you fall in love with, but other than that, pretty average over all. What's funny is if this game had coop similar to Dead Island, it would instantly become one of my favs.

I'm going to try and fit in some shorter games too, as there are a few RPGs that will undoubtedly bog me down this year. I might not even make it, but I'll give it a shot.

Game 1: Persona 3 FES: The Journey - 136 hours - Completed 2/5/14
Beat The Journey today and loved the ending. I really like how it wrapped up. I still have to then play the companion game The Answer to get the rest of the story, which shouldn't take that long. I'll probably come back to that later, as I need a break from overly long games.

Game 2: Gone Home - 3 hours - Completed 1/25/14
Pretty great lite game that was much more about exploration and story than anything else.

Game 3: The Stanley Parable - 3 hours - Completed on 1/25/14
This game threw me for a loop and I enjoyed every moment of it. Some of the endings were just fantastic. It really reminded me a bit of the humor and pacing of the original Portal with some of the early game tripy-ness of Antichamber.

Game 4: Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons - 4 hours - Completed 1/25/14
Nice use of the sticks for character movement and the triggers for individual action, though my brain would sometimes get the two mixed up. Very beautiful game with tons of interesting and majestic vistas just to sit and relax at for a moment. It had a good bit of variety in levels, but the game itself wasn't all that challenging.

That ending though. Hit me in the gut.

Game 5: Killzone: Shadow Fall - Completed 2/6/14
Finished up the campaign. Ok on the story, but the visuals were spectacular. I didn't really feel the big build up this time around like I did in KZ2, though some of the later levels were more grandiose. I think I liked the last level the best and wish we had a game based around that concept.

Also, unsure of hours on it since I can't seem to find any indication of that in the game or on the system.

Game 6: The Last of Us: Left Behind - 3 hours - Completed 2/15/14
Finished up the story DLC just now and it was pretty good. Knew where the story was going and wasn't all that surprised at the course of events, but it was pretty good. I think the middle section of the game was about perfect right before the run up to the finish. Worthy to be called TLoU DLC.

Game 7: The Walking Dead Season 2 - Ep 1. - 90mins - Complete

Game 8: The Walking Dead Season 2 - Ep 2. - 90mins - Complete

Finished up the 2nd episode this evening. Fantastic episode, even though it felt like we were rushing along during the first bit of the episode. Looking forward to episode 3 and hope the wait isn't all that long for it. I'm also hoping that these episodes get a bit longer. First one clocked in around 90mins and the 2nd one was around the same length

Game 9: The Walking Dead Season 2 - Ep. 3 - 2 hours - Complete
Episode 3 completed. Liking the direction the story is going in. Only complaint so far is that this game is going to end up being under 10 hours after the first season took almost 18. It doesn't need to be padded out, but each episode has been insanely short.

Game 10: Infamous Second Son - ~25hrs - Completed 4/25/14
Completed the game once on Good and am now on my 2nd playthrough to get 100% and beat the Evil campaign. Had a real blast with it so far. Loved all of the powers and the variation that came with it. Story was really good, but I'm looking forward to seeing just how much better the Evil storyline ends up being. Hopefully Expert doesn't give me too much difficulty.

Also, game just looks beautiful. Truly a next-gen masterpiece oozing with eye candy galore.

Update - Finished the evil campaign. Loved how it turned out and I'm thinking it will be the canon ending if they make a Second Son 2. Also unlocked all trophies for my 2nd Plat.

Game 11: Steins;Gate VN - 52 hours - Completed 4/16/14
Steins;Gate was one of my favorite anime ever as it combines some really good drama, comedy, and science all together into one brilliant package. The VN, which we have missed on until now State-side, just feels right all the way through. The game, story, endings, feelings, everything...so good. I really can't go into too much detail here as I don't want to ruin it, but needless to say, this VN was all sorts of brilliant. I had a lot of fun with Steins;Gate and was glad that I remembered some of the story and forgot some of the bigger plot.

I plan on playing it again in the future just because the story and execution is so well done. I'm glad that it was brought state-side.

El. Psy. Kongroo.

Game 12: Octodad - 2 hours - Completed 4/23/14
Nice fun little short game that I heard about ages ago and watched a Let's Play when it was a free game. Some of it was a little frustrating, but not overly so. I guess there's a tie collection to gather, but I probably won't worry about that. I think I might play this game with friends if they are so inclined, but I consider it finished.

Good for some pretty good laughs.

Game 13: Rain - 3 hours - Completed 4/26/14
Another short-ish game that I am just now getting around to. The rain mechanic worked well throughout, but I think for the length of the game, it could have been better explored. The game didn't overstay its welcome and felt like it was just long enough to enjoy without getting boring or too repetitive. The story was relatively light with some darker tones sprinkled here and there, with the main antagonist being the primary cause.

I''d suggest playing it for the visual style of the game, the rain mechanic, and the nice tale it weaves over the course of a few hours.

Game 14: Bioshock Infinite: Burial at Sea - Part 1 - 3 hours - Completed 4/26/14
Warning: Sprinkled with late Bioshock Infinite Spoilers

It was quite interesting to be back playing as Booker in a familiar setting. The sights and sounds that surrounded me were nice, comforting, and haunting all the same. Running around
Rapture with Elizabeth as Booker/Comstock was quite interesting. Her dropping all sorts of references during the process. The atmosphere was just right, as were the splicers and Little Sisters, and of course the Big Daddy at the end.

The first have of the game was great and allowed for some nice exploration, and then the game turned to combat, which felt way too foreign after being away for so long. I could have used more roaming time without needing to deal with enemies. Combat's still the same, but not nearly as tight as I'd like it.

As always, the ending of the first episode threw me for a loop.
Having a Big Daddy kill Comstock (as that's who I was told I actually was, not the Booker from the end of Infinite) was more shocking, as well as the beheading of Anna and the Lutece twins showing back up.
Now I am more than interested in seeing how things shake out in Part 2.

Game 15: Bioshock Infinite: Burial at Sea - Part 2 - 5 hours - Completed 4/27/14
Based on how things shook out at the end of Bioshock and Infinite, I should have seen this coming. Good wrap up to the series and I think we probably won't be seeing any more games in the Bioshock thread as that loop is now closed.

As for the game itself, liked the stealth portions of the game, but it didn't feel as solid as it should have been. The crossbow was OP, as was Peeping Tom, but I guess it was definitely needed to make Infinite a stealth game. Nice change of pace, but I really really craved more of what happened at the beginning of Part 1 and Part 2. Those were done expertly well.

Game 16: Another World: 20th Anniversary Edition - 2 hours - Completed 4/27/14
I have this game on the Gensis but I never got around to beating it. Cool little game with a nice art style and minimal story about a guy transported to another world. A lot of test and redos in this game, which wasn't too bad until the last act. Most of the solutions were pretty easy, but it became a bit more frustrating at the end where there wasn't much room for error.

Well worth playing, especially with the 20th Anniversary Ed. having improved backgrounds over the original, which look fantastic. Kb/m are a must only because it made movement so much easier.

Game 17: Child of LIght - ~15 hours - Completed 5/17/14
Finished up the game just now. Liked the simple story, but the rhyming bit got in the way far too often. Some of it was cute and funny, but they should have just left it completely out, even if they were going for the storybook feel.

Combat was good and I felt somewhat challenged on Hard, especially on a few of the boss battles. The final though was a bit of a letdown as the prior one felt harder. A few of the characters I didn't really use all that since some of the characters has spells and abilities overlap. Still worth it to use them all in certain situations, but more definitely got more use than others.

As for the story:
I assume the dark world was actually our own world and they are both somehow connected to 14th century Europe and Lemuria? Even reading the confessions didn't make too much sense outside of those points. I suppose the first part was from the Queen of Light's perspective coming to Lermuria and the war that supposedly caused all of this, while the rest is from some explorer from our time?
I wish they had fleshed out some of these ideas a bit more.

Overall, I really like the game. It was visually appealing, had some really fantastic music, and had a good combat system. The story could have been better, but the main story was pretty simple and fairy-tale like.

Game 18: Wolfenstein: The New Order - 12 hours - Completed 5/29/14
Best shooter I've played in some time. Played on PS4, so not nearly as good with sticks as with kb/m, but still solid gunplay with way more story and heart to it than what I initially expected. A must play, not only for Wolfenstein fans, but fps fans as well.

Game 19: Valiant Hearts - 5 hours - Completed 7/2/14
Whew...that game. I didn't expect it to pack such an emotional impact by the end, but it sure did. Great mix of historical events and a fictional narrative on how the Great War would have affected the lives of those caught in the middle.

Game 20: Mario Kart 8 - 26 hours - Completed 7/5/14
Had a pretty good blast unlocking stuff in single and multiplayer modes. Finally unlocked the gold kart in game and that's where I'm considering it completed. I'll still play multiplayer now and again to keep myself fresh, but that was my final goal with the game. Worth the price of the Wii U for the fun it brought.

Game X: MGSV: Ground Zeros - 2 hours - In Progress
Beat the main mission. Loved all of the extra info given about the characters and the mission briefings. The game itself just felt right in terms of movement and stealth. Plan on going through all of the side missions before hanging this up.

Game X: Bravely Default - 43 hours - In Progress

I haven't played all that much after it seemed like the whole game just slowed down in Chapter 3 during a specific side quest. I still plan on beating it though.

I beat more than that last year, so let's see if I'll make it again.

Game 1: The Swapper (PC) - 4.3 hours, completed on 02.01.2014
Great puzzles, no shooting, I loved it. Saw one of two endings, but I don't feel like starting over to get the second one.

Game 2: Brothers (PC) - 3.4 hours, completed on 03.01.2014
Pure magic.

Game 3: Beyond: Two Souls (PS3) - completed on 09.01.2014
A huge step back compared to Heavy Rain.

Game 4: The Legend of Zelda - A Link to the Past (Wii VC) - completed on 15.01.2014
Still hasn't aged a day. 7 deaths total - I didn't remember using a fairy counts as a death...

Game 5: Broken Age, Part 1 (PC) - completed on 15.01.2014
Much shorter than I had hoped and very easy... Let's wait for Act 2.

Game 6: Metal Gear Rising (PC) - 14 hours, completed on 20.01.2014
Simply awesome! I'll probably spend some more time with it to complete the VR challenges.

Game 7: Picross e4 (3DS) - completed on 24.01.2014
The Megapicross bring some much needed change to the formula.

Game 8: Guacamelee (PS3) - 8 hours, completed on 24.01.2014
Really fun, even if you have seen almost everything it has to offer in other games already.

Game 9: Harvey's New Eyes (PC) - completed on 30.01.2014
Not bad, but the first one was much better.

Game 10: Deponia (PC) - completed on 11.02.2014
Awesome adventure game, can't wait to play the sequels.

Game 11: rain (PS3) - completed on 14.02.2014
Unique looking, but gameplay is a bit boring.

Game 12: Don't Starve (PS4) - survived 20 days on 15.02.2014, will probably not continue playing

Game 13: Dragon's Crown (PS3) - completed on 19.02.2014
A blast with 3 players locally.

Game 14: Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate (3DS) - completed on 25.02.2014
Really good, surprisingly.

Game 15: Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze (Wii U) - completed on 09.03.2014

Game 16: Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 (PC) - completed on 09.03.2014
Not as epic as the first one but still doesn't deserve the bad scores at all.

Game 17: The Book of Unwritten Tales (PC) - completed on 17.03.2014
Uneven in both humour and puzzle design. Overall pretty good, but I vastly prefer Deponia.

Game 18: Lilly Looking Through (PC) - completed on 19.03.2014
You can see they used up their budget before completing the game, but not bad for what it is.

Game 19: Infamous: Second Son (PS4) - completed on 23.03.2014
A step back compared to its predecessors, but still a lot of fun and the first real showcase for "next gen graphics".

Game 20: Assassin's Creed 4 (PS4) - completed on 26.04.2014
Pirating feels awesome, but all the collectibles make it feel tiresome by the end. Assassin gameplay by itself just isn't any fun.

Game 21: Banjo Kazooie (360) - completed on 10.05.2014
Awesome game, even if it copies a lot from Mario 64.

Game 22: Crash Bandicoot Warped (PS3) - completed on 24.05.2014
The platforming stages feel like copy/paste design, and the frequent annoying mini-games don't help it at all. I don't get why people cherish this.

Game 23: Pikmin 3 (Wii U) - completed on 24.05.2014
A lot of fun and definitely one of the best games on the system, maybe a tad too easy.

Game 24: Sly Cooper 1 HD (PS3) - completed on 27.05.2014
The remaster is beautiful except for some sound bugs, and the game still holds up, even though I prefer more open 3D platformers.

Game 25: Hiku Otsu/Fallblox (3DS) - completed on 12.7.2014
I waited a long time to get this because I thought it was just Pullblox with a twist. It turns out it's a completely different concept, and a brilliant one at that. I've heard complains that it's too hard, but I didn't find it any harder than Pullblox.

Game 26: Mario Kart 8 (Wii U) - completed on 28.7.2014
All stamps, all stars, still playing!

Game 27: Shelter (PC) - completed on 9.8.2014
Nice idea, but more of an experiment than an actual game.

Game 28: P.T (PS4) - completed on 17.8.2014
Not sure if it counts, but beating it took three times as long compared to game 27. ;)

Game 29: Super Mario Sunshine (GC via Dolphin) - completed on 3.9.2014
Not as polished as the Galaxy games but the holiday mood and exploration still make it a great game. Looks beautiful in HD and widescreen.

Game 30: Hohokum (PS4) - completed on 24.9.2014
Great little game, reminded me of Loco Roco Cocoreccho. I love how finding out what you are supposed to do is half the challenge. Lovely animations and music!

Game 31: Jet Set Radio Future (Xbox via Xbox 360) - completed on 4.10.2014
Not nearly as good as JSR 1. Lots of annoying and downright broken bits. And Cibo Matto screaming about Birthday Cake.

Game 32: Ultimate NES Remix (3DS)
I didn't know the Wii U games, so this was a lot of fun for me. I only went for 3 stars though, not rainbow.

Game 33: Hyrule Warriors (Wii U)
A lot more fun than it should be.

Game 34: Captain Toad (Wii U)
Loads of charm, but too short and simplistic for my tastes. Most will love it I guess, but it was a slight disappointment for me.

Game 35: Silent Hill 2 (PS2)
I still love it, but I was surprised how little "survival horror" this is. There's tons of ammo and health drinks (on Normal), and you never really feel threatened except by the oppressive atmosphere.

Game 36: Alien - Isolation (PC) - completed on 24.11.2014
Intense atmosphere, great graphics and awesome Alien 1 fan service. The gameplay itself could be better though.

Game 37: Zelda - Twilight Princess (GC) - completed on 15.12.2014
It's, like, the perfect game.

Game 38: TowerFall Ascension (PS4) - completed on 17.12.2014
Finally beat the boss on hardcore. This is one of my favourite games of the year, just endless fun in both 4P competitive and 2P co-op mode!

Game 39: Zero - Nuregarasu no Miko (Wii U) - completed on 28.12.2014

Game 40: Ryû ga gotoku: Ishin (PS4) - completed on 31.12.2014

Game 41: Smash Bros. (3DS)

Game 42: Smash Bros. (Wii U)

In progress:
Bravely Default - For the Sequel (3DS)
Club Nintendo Picross Plus (3DS)
Bayonetta 2 (Wii U)
Art of Balance (Wii U)

Planned:
Valiant Hearts (PS4)
ZombiU (Wii U)
Shadow of Mordor (PS4)

Abandoned:
Resident Evil 6 (PC): Not terrible, but it didn't grab me.
TappinGo (3DS): I love Picross, but this is just pointless. No thinking required.
MotorStorm (PS3): I had a lot of fun, but I'm not really motivated to clear every single event.

This sounds like fun, so I'm in, but I'm gonna play on easy mode.

26 games will be my goal, so one every two weeks. This is more realistic for my lifestyle.

Game 1:Mass Effect: status - Complete!
Game was... OK. I felt the story was good, but the combat left a bit to be desired. also didnt find myself connecting very well to any of the other characters. Will still probably play the 2nd game soon.

Game 2: 10000000: status - Complete!
great time waster on the phone.

Game 3: The Last of Us: status - Complete!
wow... just... yea. this game deserves every award that has been thrown at it so far. still letting the ending mull through me head, this game really sticks with you.

Game 4: The Last Story: status - Complete!
slightly above average gameplay, slightly above average story, slightly above average characters, slightly above average game.

Game 5: The Legend of Zelda: A link Between Worlds: status - Complete!
good game, nice, cute ending. id give it a 9/10

Game 6: Bravely Default: status - Complete!
holy crap this game was long! really felt like the last two chapters were filler, especially since the alternate ending opens up in ch6 (5?) and both endings are somewhat similar. loved the combat system though, it really made up for the meh story.

Game 7: South Park: the stick of truth: status - Complete!
awww yesss. this game was awesome. definitely my current GOTY contender. it helps im a south park fan, but solid combat, solid writing, and a fantastic art style make this game the game south park fans deserve.

Game 8: FF X: status - Complete!

Game 9: FTL: status - Complete! ( Like 7 times now!)

Game 10: Pikmin 2: status - Complete!

Game 11: Vanquish: status - Complete!
This game was awesome! It sat on my ps3 untouched for far too long. started it up on a whim, wondering what it was and BOOM didn't stop playing till it was over.

Game 12: Mario Kart 8: status - playing forever
so... much... fun...

Game 13: Tales of Vesperia
wanted to play this for a while, finally got into it and I'm glad I did. very good generic JRPG. makes me want to check out the rest of the tales of series eventually.

Game 14: Hyrule Warriors
Played this all the way through with the wife, and enjoyed every minute of it. great mindless fun and the zelda theme makes it that much more enjoyable.

Game 15: Final Fantasy Theatrythm: Curtain Call
reached 20k rhythm and saw the credits roll but you don't exactly stop playing this game...

Game 16: Smash bros. 3ds
beat classic with like 10 chars. that counts right?

games I've played but haven't beaten cause i got bored or cause there is no end game:
Hearthstone
prison architect
space engineer
kerbal space program
infamous

In Progress
Final Fantasy 2
Bayonetta (wii U)

I'm game! Should be a fun little way to help clear my backlog.

Game 1: Zoo Tycoon (XB1) - 1 hour, in progress
--Just finished all 10 tutorials

Game 2: Pokemon X (3DS) - 5 hours, in progress
--2nd Gym, just been messing around mostly, and backtracked a bit because I was searching for a PokeMart to buy balls, but forgot they were in the Center's now... (lol)

Game 3: Halo: Spartan Assault (XB1) - 1 hours, in progress
--Completed all of the "A" missions, Gold rank on each

Game 4: Fallout 1 (PC) - 2 hours, in progress
--Just started really, enjoying it so far.

More to come!

I keep changing my format because I'm so indecisive, it's funny because I may beat WWE before either game I have listed right now (Lego Marvel and Pokemon X)
