I'm a bit behind on some things... when is Toriko resuming?
Couple more weeks.

Akashi either needs to obliterate Seirin now or lose. Seirin coming baxk only to come up short does not make for a compelling atory if they want to restart the league. Also don't forget Kiyoshi knees are shot.

Old Boy volume 1 bunko edition

I watched the Korean edition of the movie based on this manga somewhat recently, so I had some notion of what happens will/might happen story wise, but I feel what I've read/seen in the the first volume does a better job of defining the main character and the whole atmosphere.

The MC appears way more massive, smarter/cunning and all around a better badass while the antagonist seems more like a rich asshole, which here appears always pretty annoyed by the fact MC seems to not have broken down at all so far.

Eri is a cutie (the art in this is pretty good) though giving her virginity up like that makes me wonder.
Maybe whole incest part is present here too, but as long as there isn't some fucked up, shitty hypnosis twist too I think i'll enjoy this much more than I did the movie. Especially if MC stays a badass and doesn't act like a dog, cutting his tongue off too at the end.

Ayako volume 1 by Riyoko Ikeda

Woah, this is exactly my kind of manga, despite the more... irrational/drama-heavy parts.

Story starts off with a woman sentenced to death that is cursing the world while in her cell. She's never been shown any love, has been tricked by men from the start and never was given a chance at happiness by God or other people, so she feels no guilt at all for all her bad actions in life.
Suddenly a demon (the devil?) breaks the window in her cell with a giant bird like claw, as if he heard her cries and lies with her, making her pregnant.
Her sentence gets delayed until she gives birth (not without the guards discussing to kill her anyways, "no one will find out she's pregnant") and when she is about to give birth she's taken to a rundown hospital where she is the only patient.

She knows that the child she is giving birth to will have just the same kind of life as her, never finding happiness simply because of who her mother is, so she sets fire to the hospital to be able to be taken to another hospital and there she exchanges her daughter who she gave birth to with the daughter of a rich couple, ensuring her daughter will live a happy life or at least be given a shot at it, while she dies soon after.

Now, this daughter is the Ayako of the title, and she's shown as a nice, pretty girl, loved by her parents and living this happy life, all until the family doctor tells the parents that the girl might not be their real daughter because she has canines, a feature that the family has lost given the way they went about trying to keep the line "pure" (which in a way is funny, how nobles used to be so deep into incest to keep the bloodline pure).

After being given liberty to find out if the girl is really their daughter or not, the more dramatish stuff starts happening.
The doctor finds out that the girl isn't their daughter (and the DNA is a mix of human and some creature or some such thing) and the family's first reaction, after finding out (about her not being their daughter but someone else's daughter), is feeling disgust toward the girl (like it was her fault and she not having the same blood wiped the years upon years they lived together as a family and loved each other) and after the doctor finds out their real daughter, they plan out to kill off Ayako, which sets in motion the events that destroy Ayako's peaceful, happy life and turns the girl into a person that will do anything to stay alive and keep her place in the world.
Finding out about how her parents want to kill her with poison because she's not their real daughter has her switch places with the real daughter, so the parents end up killing her instead of Ayako, and this is just the tip of the iceberg, as more events keep happening where any time Ayako is in danger, or appears to be, the parents and the bastard doctor devise some plan to get Ayako killed and she turns it on them.

I'll stop here for now but if it wasn't clear enough by how much I've written about this, I just loved the first volume and I can't wait to see how the story ends in the next one.
This has probably been the best manga purchase this month, along with Old Boy.

Fairy Tail:

Did anyone else notice the chains hanging from the bed in Sayla's room? Not to mention Kyoka's line of "Come Sayla, it's been awhile since I took care of you"? Obviously, these two demons are into some kinky shit indeed.

I can just see the fanart/hentai already.

At this rate, just wait a few weeks and it'll probably pop up in a new chapter.

Or at least the chains will probably get used.

Sakuranbo Syndrome 59

In this chapter, two adults confront the problems in their relationship by talking it out with each-other like rational human beings, resolving their ongoing quarrel and culminating in extensive make up sex. With no misunderstandings whatsoever.

The fuck is this?

No, seriously, have I stepped into some twisted alternate universe or somethi--

Angry Grimace

Two cannibals are eating a clown. One turns to the other and says "does something taste funny to you?"
TWGOK

Are they heading towards the end of the series here? Because I don't even know where this is going, although present time is much better than dumb past shit. (of course, we've learned practically nothing about Rimyuel/Akari)

Nikaido does actually look a lot more like Dokurou when she's making Dokorou faces instead of that Nikaido-scowl.

KnB 245

More of Rakuzan just thrashing Seirin. Rakuzan isn't even trying hard either. It's now a 25pt lead going into halftime.

[Distance] Girls Lacrosse Club 1-7 END

A truly awe inspiring story about five girl in a lacrosse club and their camaraderie in persevering such intense trials, trials that would ave the way for them to win the tournament and be crowned THE SISTERS OF THE POLE.

It was so beautiful and moving it brought tears to my eyes. ;_;7

Oh, we've moved from commenting on basic smut to full porn now.

If anything, it is welcomed to see it start back up again.

I'll refrain from commenting on every super interesting thing I read though.

Nisekoi

Ribbon chapter with a heavy focus on Chitoge. At least it was funny.

Breaker NW

After like 150 chapters Apprentice meets Master once again. Gonna have to start catching up again.

Kenichi

Holy Fanservice fighting! Dem feels as Shigure was on the phone giving her location. ;_; Kenichi and Masters are gonna pwn the hell out of the Weapons division. Also have the feeling Hongo might switch sides just because lol.

Fairy Tail

Service for both genders, well done Mashima! Implied lesbian sex is a special bonus.

Jellal continues to fight Seis while Zero awakens in the background.

Meanwhile Elfman is under mind control and is attacking FT. Should be a lot of fun next week.

Omamori Himari 71-74
Go on...

The odds of the MC killing her in the remaining 1.5 chapters are about the same as Shizuku pulling off a last minute harem victory. Shame, because both outcomes would improve what's looking set to be an uninspiring ending.

The Breaker: New Waves 144

Damn them and always ending it near the climax point of a chapter. Reading this chapter by chapter feels to me almost like blue balling.

In the next chapter, I am going to rage if they cut back to show how he entered the building.

Does Battleship even read Soma?

I can't.. remember.... any instance. I don't........... whoa, if he does I'll be surprised. If he doesn't I'll be surprised (seems like something he'll like).

He kinda went under the radar, didn't he. Hmm.

I haven't been reading Ragetown since Haruto left Akira and got back with Eba and everyone started hating his guts unless he got back with Akira and him and Eba were searching for a place to live together.

Why did he and Eba break up now?

Holy shit. In a sense, both of those did actually happen. That double page harem spread = dead and ascended to heaven.

This series was always on the verge of being something really memorable, but it was consistently dragged down by the ludicrously dull MC and his awful feline waifu. Even when she went batshit at the end I still wanted to surgically extract her and replace her with a more interesting character.

I take it you don't like Tadokoro
What's a Tadokoro?
I don't read Soma, it was just the fact that you changed your avatar on top of the other stuff.

SURPRISE

Last time I tried exercising my culinary talents I left two family members in a coma. Cooking doesn't have any appeal for me, ditto for cooking manga.

Knights of Sidonia: I started reading this last weekend and am now re-reading through everything available. I find this to be as enjoyable as Attack on Titan, which is to say that it's very good. If you haven't checked Nihei's latest work out yet, you really ought to.

Speaking of Soma... any this week?

Edit: Also I've been hating on Nisekoi lately but at least it's not nose diving like Fairy Tail so I'll ease off (A man just gets antsy with no Toriko to sooth him)

But.. but it's tosh, and it's pretty good on its own merits outside of the food stuff. I'm being honest when I say I think you might like it, so if you're ignoring it just because of the food motif, give the first chapter a try sometime.
