WWE - WrestleMania 27 - April 3rd (format shamelessly stolen from Bootaaay)

  • WWE CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: The Miz (c) vs John Cena

The Miz is now one of the longest reigning WWE champions in recent history but, with few convincing wins over anybody more formidable than Jerry Lawler, people have begun to question his legitimacy. What better way to install yourself in the history books than a win over John Cena on the biggest show of the year? Cena, as always, is one of the most dominant superstars on the roster and is on a mission to win back the title that's been synonymous with him over the past decade. Only catch is, both superstars have drawn the ire of guest host The Rock in recent weeks - and he's bound to get involved in this match somehow.

  • WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: Edge (c) vs Alberto Del Rio

Del Rio surprised the world by winning the Royal Rumble. But why would they be surprised? After all, it was his destiny. It could well also be his destiny to pick up the world title on the grandest stage of them all. Edge, having conquered obstacles such as Kane, the Elimination Chamber and apathy to get to this stage is unlikely to relinquish his title without a hell of a fight but, with his arm injured by Del Rio and his cronies, he enters into the match with a handicap. Will something finally happen to one of Del Rio's expensive cars? What role will the gigantic, hulking Brodus Clay and definitely-not-the-traitorous-kind Christian play? But you-- you already know that!

  • STREAK MATCH: The Undertaker vs Triple H

Another year, another match where The Undertaker defends his streak. Only he's been defending it for so long (it now stands at an 'impressive' 18-0) that he's started to cycle back through opponents from his past. It's time for a WrestleMania 17 rematch against the also-returning Triple H. Though the name value is astronomical, ring rust and fragility may mean this match might just not live up to the slew of video packages it's inspired.

  • GRUDGE MATCH: Michael Cole (w/Jack Swagger) vs Jerry Lawler - Special Referee: Steve Austin

That Jerry Lawler, eh? What a goof! What a nerd! Come on, Lawler! Come on! Come on, Lawler! Come on! Come on, Lawler! Get him, Jack! Get him, Swagger! Get him, Jack! Get him, Swagger! Get him, Ja-- etc. etc. Want to see Michael Cole beaten up and doused in beer? This'll likely be your best chance.

  • GRUDGE MATCH (AGAIN): CM Punk vs Randy Orton

Randy Orton cost CM Punk the world heavyweight title. CM Punk cost Randy Orton the WWE title. Randy Orton systematically demolished Punk's New Nexus. CM Punk made Orton's wife wet... by looking at her. You know what Ghandi said: an eye for an eye means that CM Punk bleeds charisma. Coiling, snarling and, um, beating ahoy in this match. Could be a dark horse for match of the night. Could be.

  • GRUDGE MATCH (ONCE MORE): "Dashing" Cody Rhodes vs. Rey Mysterio

Whoa-oh! It's only smoke an' mirraaaahhs! Not long ago, Mysterio mercilessly deformed Rhodes' once gorgeous face with an unprotected knee brace, smashing his perfectly defined features in with a vicious 619. Now it's time for the second generation superstar to gain revenge-- if he can stop screaming "don't look at me!" for long enough.

  • UNITED STATES CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: Sheamus (c) vs Daniel Bryan

Sheamus was on a losing streak. Daniel Bryan looked at him. "I'll rip yer head off-- and fuck yer girlfriend," warned ol' lobsterhead. Bryan should have listened; now Sheamus is the United States champion and he isn't. Oh, and presumably Gail Kim was defiled. The former indie darling ("what a goof!") looks to regain his precious midcard gold - or put on an awesome match trying.

  • INTERGENDER TAG MATCH: John Morrison, Trish Stratus & Snooki vs Dolph Ziggler & Lay-Cool

Morrison and Ziggler prop up some questionable diva fare. Maybe it'll be enjoyable. You're all big Jersey Shore fans, yeah? Guaranteed Vickie Guerrero screaming.

  • EIGHT-MAN TAG MATCH: The Corre (Wade Barrett, Heath Slater, Justin Gabriel & Ezekiel Jackson) vs Big Show, Kane, Santino & Vladimir Koslov

Eight SmackDown wrestlers in a match - and still Kofi Kingston couldn't make the card. Barrett, Gabriel and Slater all hold championship gold, but Show, Kane, Santino and Koslov... something something something.

AND IT'S ALL HOSTED BY THE ROCK!

ROH - Honor Takes Center Stage: Night 1 - April 1st

  • ROH WORLD TITLE MATCH: Eddie Edwards (c) vs Christopher Daniels

After capturing the ROH World Title in a shock victory against Roderick Strong last week, Eddie Edwards faces a tough first defence against the current ROH TV Champion, the man who defeated Edwards for that very belt a few short months ago, 'The Fallen Angel' Christopher Daniels. Edwards will be looking to make a statement in this match, but at the same time, what's going on in the mind of The Fallen Angel? Many feel a heel turn is incoming and Daniels dropping a few references to his former stable The Prophecy adds weight to this theory.

  • ROH WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH: The King's of Wrestling (c) vs Wrestling's Greatest Tag Team

Chris Hero and Claudio Castagnoli are without a doubt one of the top tag teams in world. In the past year the self-styled 'King's of Wrestling' have chalked up dozens of victories and just TWO defeats - one, against the GHC Heavyweight Tag Champs Yoshihiro Takayama & Takuma Sano, and one against Shelton Benjamin & Charlie Haas, who have anointed themselves as 'Wrestling's Greatest Tag Team'. The two teams met for the first time at Glory By Honor IX last September, with Hero & Claudio picking up the victory (after a shot from Hero's loaded elbow pad), but try as they might The King's couldn't pick up a second victory in the rematch at SoCal Showdown II this January - now, with one victory apiece, the two teams will face off on Atlanta 1st to see who truly are King's.

  • FINAL BATTLE 2010 REMATCH: Roderick Strong vs Davey Richards

Roderick Strong has been with ROH for years, has had dozens of title shots and put on countless classic matches against the likes of Aries, Danielson, McGuinnes, KENTA and Samoa Joe. So when he finally got his hands on the ROH World Title, many felt it was his just due and were glad to see him finally get the reward he deserved. But that feeling of goodwill was short-lived as Roderick turned his back on the fans, joining Truth Martini's House of Truth. Davey Richards especially took exception to Roderick's villainous ways and made it his mission in 2010 to take the ROH World Title from him. However, it was not to be - for all Roderick's reliance on Martini and his nefarious tactics, at Final Battle 2010 he sent Martini to the back and beat Davey Richards, cleanly, in a true Match of the Year Contender. Fast forward 3 months and Roderick is now the ex-champion, losing the belt not to Davey Richards, but to Richards tag partner Eddie Edwards - now these two will go at it again, but this time Roderick will want to make a statement of intent that he's coming to get his belt back, while Davey will be determined to show that he can beat Strong, even if it's not for the title.

  • TAG TEAM CHALLENGE: Jay & Mark Briscoe vs Adam Cole & Kyle O'Reilly

Jay & Mark have been with ROH from the very first show. Jay himself wrestled in the very first ROH match and the two have become synonymous with Ring of Honor, over the years becoming eight time ROH Tag Team Champions. However, their quest for a 9th title run has been cut short with a string of losses, most recently to the All-Night Express, and things are not well in the Briscoe household. The Brothers have long been fan favourites, but when the fans in NYC cheered for the ANX in favour of the Briscoes, the brothers from Sandy Fork, Delaware snapped and turned on the fans. Now, with a new attitude the Briscoe's are more dangerous than ever and will be looking to get back in title contention - all that stands in their way is a young team who have been making waves in wrestling this past year; Adam Cole & Kyle O'Reilly. While Cole is a god-gifted high-flyer, insanely athletic and a joy to watch perform, his partner Kyle O'Reilly (trainee of Davey Richards) is turning out to be a fantastic singles wrestler in his own right and it's sure to be a fantastic matchup when they step into the ring with the Briscoe Brothers come April 1st.

  • GRUDGE MATCH: El Generico vs Michael Elgin

Truth Martini's House of Truth have been causing all sorts of trouble in ROH and the newest focus of their desires is former ROH Tag Champ El Generico, who interjected himself into the House of Truth's affairs by coming down to save Christoper Daniels from a beating at the hands of Elgin & Strong. Elgin requested a match against Generico, and the Generic Luchadore from Tijuana managed to pick up the victory against the impressive House of Truth member at ROH's 9th Anniversary Show. However, Elgin and Strong once again took it to Generico after the match and left him unconscious in the ring - now it's Generico requesting the rematch, but on April 1st in Atlanta there'll be one difference; Truth Martini & his House of Truth are banned from ringside as Generico looks for revenge.

  • WOMEN OF HONOR: Sara Del Rey & Serena Deeb vs Hiroyo Matsumoto & Ayumi Kurihara

The Japanese duo of Ayumi Kurihara and Hiroyo Matsumoto make their ROH debuts, but although Matsumoto is one of the most powerful Joshi wrestlers in Japan and Kurihara has been making waves with her sheer abillity and never say die attitude, they face a tough test as they go up against Serena Deeb & Sara Del Rey who hold an impressive victory over Daize Haze & Amazing Kong from Final Battle 2010.

Also scheduled to appear;

  • 'The Notorious 187' Homicide
  • The All-Night Express of Rhett Titus & Kenny King
  • The Embassy with Prince Nana

ROH - Honor Takes Center Stage: Night 2 - April 2nd

  • DREAM TAG TEAM MATCH: Wrestling's Greatest Tag Team vs The American Wolves

One of the best tag teams from WWE in recent years (yeah, not saying much, I know) faces off against one of the best ROH tag teams of recent years - ROH World Champion Eddie Edwards & his partner Davey Richards. There's no bad blood between any of the four men, this is just as it appears; a dream matchup in tag team wrestling. However, should Charlie Hass & Shelton Benjamin beat the odds and defeat the King's of Wresting, this could very well be Wrestling's Greatest Tag Team's first title defence!

  • TAG TEAM CHALLENGE: The King's of Wrestling vs The All-Night Express

The All-Night Express are one of the few ROH tag teams yet to face the King's of Wrestling, but now this up and coming tag duo will get the chance to test their mettle against the very best in the world on April 2nd, while Castagnoli & Hero will be looking to put another set of names of the list of tag teams they've defeated.

  • GRUDGE MATCH: Roderick Strong vs El Generico

El Generico has no love for any member of Truth Martini's House of Truth, but none moreso than Roderick Strong. The former ROH World Champion cost Generico his chance at the title, and now the Generic Luchadore is out for a measure of revenge.

  • SPECIAL ATTRACTION: Colt Cabana vs Dave Taylor

Colt Cabana has had more trouble with Prince Nana's Embassy than most, but when Nana lined up this match against British wrestling royalty Dave Taylor, Cabana was delighted and said he'd be a fool not to step in the ring with a great like Taylor. While Taylor isn't above cheating to win, he's always been a man of honour, so it's perplexing that Nana would chose 'the Squire' to be the man to take Colt Cabana out, but perhaps Prince Nana has something up his sleeve...

  • SHIMMER TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH: Daizee Haze & Tomoka Nakagawa vs Ayumi Kurihara & Hiroyo Matsumoto

The newly crowned SHIMMER Tag Team Champions Daizee Haze and the debuting Tomoka Nakagawa defend their titles for the first time against Hiroyo Matsumoto & Ayumi Kurihara.

Also scheduled to appear;

  • 'The Notorious 187' Homicide
  • ROH TV Champion Christopher Daniels
  • The Embassy with Prince Nana
  • Michael Elgin with Truth Martini

Dragon Gate USA - Mercury Rising 2011 - April 2nd, 8pm - $14.99

  • SPECIAL CHALLENGE MATCH: John Moxley vs Arik Cannon

John Moxley has made waves in Dragon Gate USA as the leader of KAMIKAZE USA, instigating bloody feuds against the likes of Jimmy Jacobs & Homicide, now he faces one of the toughest hitters in DGUSA; Arik Cannon, promoter of the F1RST Wrestling promotion.

  • ELIMINATION MATCH: Jimmy Jacobs vs Brodie Lee vs Stalker Ichikawa vs Silas Young vs AR Fox vs Jon Davis

A 6-man Elimination style match featuring a great mix of US talent and the debuting Stalker Ichikawa.

  • NON-TITLE SPECIAL ATTRACTION MATCH: Open the Dream Gate Champions Masato Yoshino vs Sami Callihan

Fresh of his win at wXw's world famous 16 Carat Gold tournament, The New Horror Sami Callihan takes on the Open the Dream Gate champion Masato Yoshino in a non-title match, but while Callihan is a versatile wrestler, a vicious brawler and one of the most promising stars on the international scene, can he match up to the speed and technical excellence of the World-1 faction's Masato Yoshino?

  • OPEN THE BRAVE GATE TITLE MATCH: PAC (c) vs Akira Tozawa

A true dream match here as World-'s British highflying superstar PAC defends his Open the Brave Gate title against Akira Tozawa, one of the most popular rising stars of the past year. PAC calls himself the man who defies gravity, due to his insane high-flying antics, but he'll have his work cut out for him against Mr. High Tension Akira Tozawa.

  • GRUDGE MATCH: Blood Warriors (CIMA, Naruki Doi & Ricochet) vs Ronin (Chuck Taylor, Johnny Gargano & Rich Swan)

Ronin of Chuck Taylor, Johnny Gargano & Rich Swann made waves in the wrestling world when they turned down CIMA's offer to join his Blood Warriors stable, turning on CIMA and forming their own group Ronin. Now Blood Warriors are out for revenge against the brash US upstarts in tradtional Dragon Gate 6-man tag style.

  • Open the Freedom Gate Title Match: YAMATO (c) vs Austin Aries

KAMIKAZE USA's YAMATO has proved that he's the best in DGUSA by capturing the Freedom Gate Title for the 2nd time in the promotions short life span, but he has a true test here defending his title against the ring-veteran Austin Aries. But the stakes are even higher for Austin Aries, as Aries has vowed to quit Dragon Gate USA if he fails to defeat YAMATO.

TNA doesn't rate inclusion in the OT opening post. I approve.

And because it was being discussed towards the end of the March thread...

Cena "the guy" is first-rate. I'd be hard-pressed to think of anyone else who has given as much of themselves to wrestling, Make A Wish and his fans as him.

Cena "the wrestling persona" SUCKS and needs to be taken off TV. I have booed him without remorse since his days feuding with Edge and will continue to do so until his character gains some shred of credibility.
It's very easy to separate the man from the character.
His wrestling persona is trash and deserves to be jeered without remorse at any and every public function so long as Cena remains in character.

Had to double take at the TNA poster, Anderson kind of looked like Cena for a minute.
Hang on "it's my time".......Shad at Lockdown confirmed?!

The original plan that has been kept secret was for all the current Divas together to induct Tammy Sytch into the Hall of Fame. The idea is she will then be known as The Original Diva.

Oh man, that's gonna be such a gong show.

But really, it'll be a cold day in Hell before I let Meth Hardy steal the spotlight from WrestleMania.

All you guys ganging up on Jeff and the CeNation better settle your tea kettles. Cena is the bomb dot com and all of this hatred is making you guys look bowling shoe ugly.

All Stars is really fun. You all need to get it. Best wrestling game since No Mercy easily.

It's out in the UK tomorrow, got it pre-ordered. Can't wait.

On one of the MvC3 streams last night, people were getting more hyped for All-Stars in the background than Marvel. sogood.gif

Let's put it this way, this year's 'Mania can't be any worse than last year's? Can it?

Never cared for the PS2 Smackdowns. Played No Mercy and a couple others through that generation until SvR '06 came out.

He won't once Superstars goes off the air. Should take bets on how many will be culled post-'Mania.

They still have a contractual obligation for Superstars for BSkyB though. So it will live online

just kinda realized there are two threads now...so I'll post this in both:

so with the whole Finlay controversy, I find it rather amusing related to the True Story of Wrestlemania DVD. Basically for those who haven't seen it, in one interview, Vince pretty much says how the national anthem isn't a very "pretty" song, and that is why America the Beautiful is played instead. Why doesn't the National Guard get mad at Vince for this? Downplay of the song itself vs disrespecting a symbol through interruption?

Hold that thought on the predictions thing. I'm... formulating.
